Sky GO Issues watching TV boxset episodes.

Seem not to be unable to download tv box set episodes today. Silverlight version is up to date, I've logged in. Click play on an episode and it just sits their doing nothing. My internet connection is fine as I've watched the episode I wanted to watch instead on amazon prime. Having watched it their having now subscribed to netflix and amazon prime, connectivity and the quality of the picture streamed from these applications is consistently far superior to sky go. Resolution always seems to drop on sky go, or I get an error about concurrency which then terminates my session and I have to log back in even though I'm the only person streaming on my acccount, or it randomly presents an advert for me to watch then halfway though the advert it goes back to the programme...weird. Sky needs to sharpen its act, I haven't bothere ringing helpdesk as all i ususally get is..it's probably your internet connection, at which point I've usually got somethin sreaming on netflix or amazon to disprove the point!

There are a number of different concurrency error messages on Sky Go - the next time it occurs can you tell us what the exact error message, the time you started the stream, and how long had you been continuously streaming for?
Are you trying to download episodes or are you trying to stream from the Sky Go website? Are you able to watch live TV without any issues?

    I'm trying to figure out how to watch iTunes TV episodes on my Sony LCD using Verizon FIOS. The TV is a Sony KDL-V40XBR1, with a PC IN (RGB) jack and a To PC IN (Audio) jack on the back. I got a VGA cable for the video connection, and a Belkin stereo link cable for the audio, though I'm not sure that's right. Assuming I can figure out which cables to use, though, what do I have to do once I've started playing the episode on my laptop? Will the episode automatically play on the TV, or do I have to do something else first?

    In the kind of setup you describe, think of the TV as a big monitor.   Instead of using a regular monitor as your display, your TV will be the display.

    Have you downloaded the show onto your Mac ? If you have it should show in the TV Shows part of your library e.g. with the left-hand sidebar enabled (option-command-S ona Mac) and TV Shows ticked on the General tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) so that the category shows in your library

    Open the Mail, Contacts & Calendars preference pane in System Preferences, and select Facebook. Make a note of the settings for the account, then delete it from the list.
    Then follow the instructions on this page: Resetting the SyncServices folder.
    Log out, log back in, and recreate the account settings in System Preferences. See whether there's any improvement.

    A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
    Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
    Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
    You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
    Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.
    At this point in time, I’m wondering if this could be related to (but not restricted to) the new feature that allows others to come into your home and use your Apple TV to download and play their content on your Apple TV without logging into their account on your Apple TV. The Terms of Use for iTunes Store content have always been to require you to only purchase and play the content from the store in the location where you live and to use a credit card registered in that location. Previously Apple seem to have been somewhat lenient on enforcing such restrictions, perhaps now they are not. However I don’t really have any evidence to support this suggestion, except that changes made to accounts in these areas do appear to be helping many.
    If you are successful in resolving your problem, perhaps you would let us know exactly which action resolved the problem for you. If you are having this problem to begin with, can you also tell us your location.

    Why am I having major issues watching YouTube videos when the cable modem is connected to Airport Extreme, but they work flawlessly if my computer is connected directly to the modem? Comcast is the internet provider. 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo is the iMac. Getting the dreaded "This video is currently unavailable" OR "An error occurred. Please try again later." I swap back and forth... it's unbelievable. Videos that give errors over WiFi play fine when hooked up via ethernet.

    If your wireless connection is slow, video streaming will stutter or fail completely. The wireless connection can be slow if there are other wireless networks in your area, all competing for the same limited number of wireless channels.
    If you have a fairly new Extreme, you can use 5 GHz. Your iMac is capable of using it, and this will mitigate the effects of wireless interference.
    Keep one thing in mind - if in the course of troubleshooting you have been routinely disconnecting and reconnecting your Extreme and the iMac to your modem - "swapping back and forth" as you described - be sure to power down the modem first. Most cable modems will refuse to communicate with a different device, until after you reset it by powering it down. If you want to compare wired speeds to wireless, connect your iMac to one of the Extreme's LAN ports instead, and turn off the iMac's wireless in its WiFi menu. Its speed should be nearly identical to that you will have by connecting it directly to the modem. Swapping connections in this manner does not require a power down cycle.

  • Sky box issue

    Once every few days I will put my sky on from stand-by.
    My channels don't show up and say I have signal issues.
    I check my signal and my 2 imput is not on and the signal lock is also not showing.
    I can only watch tv if I remove power from the sky box and fully restart it.
    That's not a form of entertainment if I have to keep going through this every time which is extremely hard for me as I am a wheelchair user and can't do anything unless I have someone come over to fix it.
    Could someone please help?
    I've done a tv guide refresh and deleted old stuff and also deleted all past deleted programmes.
    I've even spoke to people on the phone and they think everything is perfect fine everytime i restart it so they are much help in the long run.

    It could be the result of a box fault, or an installation problem - LNB (especially if it's more than 5 years old) or cabling. Replacing the box with a second hand one from ebay or gumtree (or similar) might be an option, or arrange a callout from Sky who will check your setup end to end (and provide 3 months warranty).

    I purchased the season pass, last week it took three days to download and watch the episode (um, what happened to streaming??) Seriously frustrated and thinking of moving to Amazon streaming.

    Here's what's happened for me: Episodes for Breaking Bad simply don't appear on my Apple TV as they should. That's happeneded two weeks in a row. This week, it got worse, because the download link for the episode pointed to the making-of teaser, not the real episode.
    The episode is finally downloading to my computer, but neither of the first two Final Season episodes shows on my Apple TV. ***?
    Something similar happened to me when I bought the 2nd season of Homeland. The common factor is that I bought both seasons before the episodes started to air.
    The larger issue, however, is the terrible support. Apple seems to have this set up to make it as difficult as possible to get someone ON THE PHONE. Here's a little FYI, when I want to watch TV, especially the latest episode of the hottest show on, I simply expect it to WORK. Right now. Automatically. And, oh  yah, I paid for the whole **** season in advance!
    There's just no excuse for this. Apple has, in my experience, excellent support for their hardware products. However, the "support" they provide for their $7B media store is just really bad.

  • Sky Movies issue

    Is anyone else noticing any issues with Sky Movies today? Only seems to be happening on sky movies disney. Aftre several minutes of watching it starts to stutter and picture ans sound fall out of sync. If you switch away and switch back its fine for 5 or so minutes before the problem returns. My line speed is 70mb and the rest of the IP channels are fine.

  • ITunes Closes When I Try to Watch Downloaded TV Episodes

    I'm ready to tear my hair out, so if anyone has any suggestions or advice to help me, I would be so grateful. I have installed the latest version of iTunes (8.0.2.20) and have downloaded several tv episodes. When I first tried to play the downloaded episodes I got a black screen, followed by a Windows box that said "iTunes has stopped working and will close". I got in touch with Support and they said I should do a thorough Uninstall of iTunes, Quicktime, etc. - which I did. I then reinstalled everything and could watch my episodes just fine. The next day, after the computer had been turned off all night - the error message was back and the episodes would no longer play. I Uninstalled and Reinstalled - episodes would play again. This has happened every day for the past four days.
    What happens between the time I can watch the episodes and the next day when I try to watch them again and get the same error message from Windows? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Please help!!

    hmmm, I'm not sure why QT worked for a while and then quit. Usually that means something changed on your PC - what it was, I dont know.
    Probably easist to download andd install the Quicktime standalone program:
    www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
    Don't RUN the install over the internet, SAVE the file and run it from your hard drive. And turn off any security software while it installs.
    Make sure to choose the second one WITHOUT itunes. Post back to tell me if QT installed without errors, and whether it can now play videos and also if it fixed the itunes problem!
