Sky TV App with Composite AV Cable

Anyone able to watch Sky through their TV. The Composite AV Cable is just giving me audio. YouTube/TV CatchUp work fine

- What app are you trying to use?  TV out (video) only works with specfic apps that support it. The Video app that came with the iPod supports TV out.
- Do you have the correct input selected on the TV?

  • Problem with composite AV cable

I bought the apple composite AV cable to connect my iPad2 with the car but it doesn't work (my car is the 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan). Does anyone have experiences why it doesn't work?

The Composite Cables do not allow mirroring of the iPad screen. To get any video output make sure you are in a supported app, like the Videos App or Photos App in Slideshow mode to get video output through the Av composite cables.

    Hi Everyone,
hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
    Here's how to do it:
    1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
    2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
    5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
    5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
    3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
    4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
    5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.
    Enjoy!

  • IPod Touch with Composite AV Cable: Issues

I purchased the new $50 composite AV cable when it was released a few months back. I've been using it frequently with no real issues (whenever I play a video, my iPod recognizes that it is connected to a TV and prompts me to choose whether or not to display the video on the TV). However, as of this week it no longer prompts me, and I cannot find a way to manually select "TV Out" without first being automatically prompted by my iPod. I recently installed 1.1.3 with the January upgrade. The only other thing I can think of that I've done differently recently is that I used the composite AV cable to charge an older iPod model, which I had never tried before, but I doubt that would have any affect on the cable itself. Anyone else having this problem? Why is there not a manual "TV Out" option for the iPod Touch to avoid this issue altogether?

I havent had any issues with my Apple AV composite cable. Ive been using it for the last month or so and has also worked since the 1.1.3 firmware and software upgrade. I suggest you call apple tech support you have a 1 year warrenty on those cables.

  • Flashing video with composite av cable

Having some difficulty with my composite av cable. It's been malfunctioning with all my apple devices.  I am getting sound perfect but the video is rapidly flashing and moving at an up and down pace, like it's "tracking" if you remember the old days of VHS. I have inspected the plugs and it all looks to be hooked up right. Has any one else had this problem with their cable and do you know how to fix?

    Hi Rusbug,
I am having the same issue with my iPod Classic 160gb not playing video on the TV via Composite cable as you posted in march!
did you get a solution for the issue??
desperate to know what to do next.
    thanks

  • Slide Show with Composite AV Cable: no sound, no transitions

with my AV cable I have no sound and no transitions between slides on my TV. Images are shown and there is a small fading but no cube or wave even when selected. Without cable works fine (but no sound) and movies also fine on TV with sound.
With my iPod classic the Slideshows are also fine with the same cable (transition, sound) - even on iPod-sreen there is a presenting-mode shows me remaining time of actual slide, previous and next slide.
Is iPhone slideshow so bad? Is it a bug in iOS 4 (I think I used it sometimes bevore, but maybe only with iPod)

You can go on the Air Video forum, it explains that something had been changed in iOS4 that doesn't allow 3rd party apps to use TV out anymore, or at last the workaround they were using in previous firmwares:
    http://inmethod.com/forum/posts/list/1666.page
There is a link in the thread telling you how to downgrade to 3.1.3, but if I were you I would sync my videos with iTunes in the native player app as the TV out still works with native apps (iPod player and YouTube). I would do that until Air Video works this out with Apple. I'm like you, I use Air Video a lot and I'm kind of mad that Apple disabled this for 3rd party apps without telling them and without giving them a solution.
    The wait begins.

  • Apple Composite AV cable doesn't work with my iPhone 3G (3.1.3)

    Hello,
Just purchased composite AV cable from apple store but it doesn't play videos on TV but audios only,
Is it firmware or my cable prlbme?

I used the original Apple composite AV cable with my iPhone 3G (OS 3.1.3) for a while and it worked fine for video playback in the iPod app. But after upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS4 the cable stopped working. Video on my TV remains black and is shown on the iPhone's screen instead of the TV, and sometimes the iPhone tells me that this accessory is not designed to work with this iPhone. What did Apple do? Is there anyone who can confirm this change in behavior? Apple still recommends this cable in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454?viewlocale=en_US

  • Why won't the Apple Composite AV Cable work with ipad2?

I got the Apple Composite AV Cable for our iPad2 but it does not seem to work.  The cable does not work with either our iPad2 or the iPod Touch 2G.  Ironically, the cord *does* work with our ancient iPod 80GB Classic.
The iPad does not show settings for PAL or NTSC or any other settings I could possibly change to try and get the video out to work.  What am I missing?
IPod Touch is set for NTSC and Widescreen has been tried both off and on with no video shown on the TV.
The videos do still show on the iPod/iPad screens while playing.

Apparently the answer is no? I guess for me this is the #1 reason to not buy an iPhone 5. I switched to the iPhone specifically for the component (RCA) cable with charging capabilities for my car audio / nav needs. Android did not have a good solution and Apple did. I am sure there are a hand full of  folks who bought the Pioneer App radio who are stuck as well. Apple needs to make an airplay to component adapter or a cable for the iPhone 5. Newsflash  I am not switching my head unit out for a new phone. Don’t get me wrong I love air play and own an apple TV but hotel rooms, cars, boats and points of usage not going to have air play in all instances. Even if a cable comes out the “digital” port seems telling that component is going away. Time will tell.

I have not yet seen any official response to the question: "Is the Apple AV Composite cable fully supported with 30pin connector devices upgraded with iOS7 - specifically ? - eg. iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s"
If it is not currently supported is that then due to a bug / oversight and in that case is it something that will be fixed in the near future?

  • Problem with playing video via composite av cable on iPod classic 2009 model 160gb

Things went well, after  purchasing the new Ipod classic 160 gb i tryied to watch movies on my LED TV via Composite AV Cable.  I did it once. Everything worked correctly & I was able to see my photoes, watch movies.  Today i tryied to connect it again to the TV via av composite cable. The TV Out was switched on. But i could hear only audio. No video. I tryied all possible configs for Ipod an for tv set & no result. If i choose on my Ipod to ask me  first if i want to switch on the AV out, the Ipod shows me a message that i should connect the video accessory (but it  is already connected!). If i choose simply to switch on the TV Out without asking  me it will play either sound only on the TV, either the playback on the Ipod is ending after 20 seconds of show time.
Without AV Cable connected Ipod is working normaly in terms of video playback. Also the device is working normally with the ITunes.
Please help. Where is the problem. The AV composite cable? TV set? Or iPod itself?

  • MB129LL/B Composite AV Cable with my new iPod Touch 32GB to my Samsung TV

I bought a new Samsung T240HD 24" LCD HD Monitor TV and when I hook my iPod Touch to it with a genuine Apple MB129LL/B Composite AV Cable, the picture is not very good on my tv, matter of fact, it's not even in color. Does anyone have any suggestions? Everything is new except for my cables were an "Open Box" purchase.

The image on the iPod is only 480 x 320 pixels. If you mirror that onto a giant 24" display, I just can't imagine it looking too good... there just aren't enough pixels there to fill up that monitor's native resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Essentially every pixel on the display will look four times larger.
As far as why you're not seeing the color, I am not sure what's going on. I have a 26" Samsung LCD Display... there is an "AV Mode" setting under the "Setup" section of the On Screen Display menu. You have to scroll down to see it and there is an "on/off" selector.
