Skype 6.20.64.104 | Large group chat messages take...

For a while I've been on 6.18.xx.xxx, but decided to try out the new skype since it's all fancy looking and such, but sadly it's extremely slow for me in group chats with more than 30 people. I'm in 3 - 4 group chats with 100+ people, some have 300 people. Sometimes it's instantly sent and other times it takes forever to be sent. This does happen on versions all the way down to 4.X (linux version), but it's even worse in this version, before it would only take 5 mins at max to send a message, but now 20+ mins, what in the world happened.
I know this is mainly due to skype being peer to peer, but honestly, it's just really annoying also side note about the P2P stuff, it's easy for people to get your IP and DDoS you due to having P2P.
Here is my speed test to show that it's not my connection.
PS: sorry if this was hard to read, I am quite bad at explaining stuff in an understandable manor.

So, I have had this issue as well but now it has gone a step further.
My old solution was to:
1) leave conversation
2) Delete conversation
3) Have a peer re-add me to the chat
Historically that has worked, however now i appear to still be "in" the chat to all others but for me, the chat room is nolonger in my history at all. Because of this i cant actually get back into the room and the room must be recreated as far as we are aware. Any solutions? Also, i was the creator of the room when I left without a replacement admin (forgot i had created it, normally that is another persons job but i had to fill in that day).
Any tips let me know! Hopefully i dont need to make the room all over again but if I need to, it is what it is haha.

Skype Incredibly Slow with Large Group Chats

I was invited to a very large group chat (170 memebers, 100s of posts a say, active for years) and every time i attempt to read it skype grinds to a halt. It can take minutes to load new messages, during which the entire application is unresponsive. Skype is basically always using < 200MB ram during this, but it does seem to use a substantial amount (~1GB) of virtual memory.
It is very frustrating. Is there anything I can do to at least improve the situation?

Same Issue here,also had problems with voice call on group chat.. where some users were able to join some couldn't som eusers had good quality calls and some completely Incomprehensible, also some inconsistent behaviour on one on one chat/voice..

BBM Group Chat Message Retrieval - Help Make a Mother's Day!

Hey folks,
I recently returned from a trip abroad and while away I sent to my family various messages to a little BBM Group my younger sister help set up of what I had done the previous days. For some reason that remains to be seen, the default setting on BBM Groups is keep messages for 3 days. Needless to say, there were a few messages that my mom really liked and wants to save, but she isn't technologically inclined and they have since disappeared from her phone.
Is there any way to get these messages back? Perhaps a phone restore to a few days ago or something? Or is there someone I can call at BB or my carrier (Rogers) to get them to retrieve it? Surely it's saved on a server somewhere.
My mom woke up this morning stressed beyond belief that she's lost one message I sent in particular (the one reflecting on the trip as a whole) and she would love to be able to save it.

Skype slow with sending and recieving messaged in group chat

I seem to have no trouble with ordinary one to one shat, but when i'm in a group chat it takes a very long time for my message to be sent it just stays gray and have that loading circle to the left.
Also some messages recieved are recieved many minutes after they are originally written, making a group chat very confusing overall...

1. Mood status should be editable below my name in the top left, adjacent to my user pic, and not only in the "profile" popup when clicking on the blue bar.
2. Recipient chat bubble colour can stay the same blue colour. Sender colour should be distinctly different and not a different shade of blue. It should be the green colour skype used to use.
(Hell, you guys could get REALLY crazy and allow sender/recipient chat bubble colours to be completely customisable! Crazy, I know).
3. User picture bubble in above chat should be perhaps 10% larger than it currently is. On a 27" display @ 2560x1440 I cannot even make out any distinct features of their face. It's just too small.
4. Scrollbar for navigating user list on the left hand side is too small and doesn't adhere to Win32 scrollbar standards by using the system scrollbar. The right hand side for navigating conversations does adhere to Win32 and uses the system scrollbar. Please change it back to the system default Win32 scrollbar. Over 51% of your users are more than likely on Windows 7, and only 8-10% on WIndows 8/8.1/8.1 Update 1 with the different scrollbar kit. It's best to stick with what the system uses.
If I find more I'll update it as I go along; these are just my first impressions.

My feedback: I don't want this. Ever.
I don't want this text-bubble bullcrap. It's cluttering and annoying to look at. I don't want to see these tiny versions of avatars either, they're cluttering and won't be very visible either way. If I want to look at their avatar, I will click on their profile or talk to them 1:1. Actually, I do indeed enjoy the look of the current skype. Minimalistic. My only problem with your mess is that it's 100% WHITE. It burns the eyes and causes actual pain to tab into.
I cannot imagine how this UI is going to work out in large group chats. I'm in multiple, and all I can see is hell. Especially with image previews like this? Plain and simple, you're asking for disaster.
Why do you, Microsoft, continue to give us things we don't ask for? Why has the suggestion for themes been "under consideration" for nearly a year? I don't understand, but at this point, I don't care. I really do hope a new IM/Call program emerges from the shadows and people start moving there. I'm beginning to really despise Skype, and for good reason.
If anything, please make this "dynamic new" garbageexperience optional. That's my feedback, and I pray that you will take what I say into consideration. Then again, you probably won't. Because you're Microsoft.
In any case, I'm going to keep my skype not updated for as long as I possibly can to avoid this calamity waiting to happen. Maybe you'll learn from the backlash of the last time you forced us to update and let us use the program the way we want to, as consumers.

Group Chat Problem

I went on holiday for a week, and when i came back, all the group chats that i was in all disapeared, and when i turn my device off, notifications come up on my ipad from a chat, but when i click on it the group chat on the lockscreen menu it just takes me to the skype home screen and there are no skype notifications in any chat on the skype app, so i made a group chat on a new account with my friends and whenever i say a message it says "pending" and it never actually sends, please can some one give help to my problem, thanks

update: it seems to be working now. Still would like to know where MS posts scedualed maitnence.

My question is I have a friend in my contacts who recently added me to a group by mistake. I know I can delete the the group but will my friend still stay in my contacts? I dont want to lose our history.
If I should start a new topic for this can someone let me know.

WP8.1 group chat not going through till all online...

Is Skype group messaging for Windows Phone and other mobile devices p2p or cloud-based? Because unlike my chart messages to individuals, my group chat messages from WP as well as the two people in chart with me from their Android and iPhone don't go through till we are all online at the same time.

Sorry, anywhere you see "chart", it should be "chat" in my post here. Wasn't paying attention to imperfect WordFlow usage.

Can't Join Group Chats, Can't Receive Files, and Skype Home Doesn't Work

Okay, so back when Windows 8 was newer I got my current laptop and when I saw Skype's original Windows 8 design, I said hell no to that and downloaded an earlier version of Skype instead. When Skype did that big overhaul and stopped support for all older versions, I was at least happy to see it was back to being on the desktop instead of that Windows 8 pseudo-tablet nonsense. But at the same time, I stopped getting notifications from Skype Home - it always says it's unavailable. Some time after that, in between Skype's updates, I started having trouble with Groups. Every time someone tried to add me to one, I couldn't see it, even if they said I was in it on their screen. Eventually I had to start making all Group Chats myself, because at least then it worked for me... up until the 7.7 update. Now no matter how I try to get into a Group now, it straight up doesn't work. And before I got locked out of Groups entirely, I started having issues with files, right around when the "inline photos" thing happened - they just don't work when sent to me, and I can't send them either. When people try to send them to me it's just a grey image and something about how it's not supported or it didn't go through. I've sort of just been patiently dealing with all of it until the newest update when Groups stopped working entirely and I was in the middle of trying to join an important conversation. I Googled that specific issue and found a ton of unresolved threads about it dating back to at least 2013, I believe. I tried every suggestion I could find - I restarted, uninstalled Skype, reinstalled Skype, restarted after uninstalling and then reinstalling... the list goes on. Every time I got it back, it was the same. Now I'm on Windows 8.1, and I don't know if that's related, but my boyfriend - who uses a Mac - is having none of these problems whatsoever, and he also has the latest version of Skype. With older versions of Skype not available, I ended up trying Skype Web, and it's letting me see all the Groups, which is the most important thing but I'd really prefer to go back to the desktop version. All three of my issues might be unrelated, but they've all progressed as Skype has updated so I figured I'd try to get help for all of them. I'm at my wit's end, here. I use Skype for a pretty large portion of my online communication, and being unable to use Groups or get files is really crippling the experience.

Since I'm using my new Laptop with Skype 7.0, I can't join to a group chat.
It's a public chat and joining is enabled.
With my former laptop and former Skype-Version, I never had this problem.
I could click on a link in the browser and joined to the group.
I have to chose a program.
Unfortunately Skype.exe seems not to be the right decision.
I'm asked to get a Skype-app, which I never needed with the old version.
Which kind of app do I need and how can I get the app or what else can I do?

Skype group chat bots?

Hi,
I'm part of a group chat with a large number of members, and we would like to be able to have a group chat bot to answer some common questions for the members.
This bot would only join that one group chat and only answer when it for questions directed specifically to that bot (for instance, "BotName, what name does [skype username] go by?"), so it wouldn't be spamming.
Would this be an acceptable use of botting on Skype? It's something that would add a lot of utility to our group chat (and, I suspect, to plenty of other ones as well).

Is anyone from Skype going to reply??

Skype group chats not sending messages.

So, I've had this problem for a while.
Basically, sometimes when I get added to a group, the group becomes really laggy.
very laggy, actually. one instance I posted a message on the 18th of december, then left the group, and it didn't send and register that I left until the 28th.

I've uninstalled old skype and installed new skype, I've added the group to my contacts, I've tried everything. Other groups I'm a part of appear to be working just fine.
Can someone give me some advice?

ATM all I can think of causing this, is a multi version group. Skype changed their group chat behavior in v6.22, a mixed group eg 6.21 and below and above might cause issues.
The 6.21 version do work, however, all of you has to be on that level:

This is offcourse just an assumption based on that pre cloud and post cloud clients have issues.

Skype group chat breaking when my internet goes do...

So for the past few days my internet has been unexpectedly going down at random times. This is normally not too big an issue but whenever it happens while I am sending a message in a group chat, the whole thing breaks meaning no new messages appear and I can't send any messages. Signing in and out doesn't fix the issue and neither does a PC restart. I know messages are being sent as I can see them on my mobile but not on the desktop app. The only way I can fix it is by leaving and rejoining the chat which is a pain as someone has to re add me every time (it happens quite frequently). Is there any other way to fix this?

In a P2P Moderated chat, the messages are only delivered when at least one of your assigned "buddies" is Online. This is different from new Cloud-based group chats, where messages are delivered via a Cloud server. Chatting Best Practices with Large Groups

We have a large group (125) people who are involved in a 4-hour training each month. What best practices would you suggest for managing chatting with this large of group. Perhaps layout options, polling options, any best practices would be appreciated.

I would leave chat alone with a group that large. You can provide that functionality to have an open communication between participants and possibly presenters/hosts for quick exchanges, but don't rely on it for question and answer functionality. The Q & A pod will queue up all the questions that are asked in it and you (or other presenters/hosts) can answer them while keeping the answers associated with the question and have the ability to reply publicly or privately. All questions are asked privately and are not seen by other participants, so duplicate or inappropriate questions can be easily removed or ignored.
Polling is also good to keep the responses in a controlled evironment.
