  • ASUS USB2.0 Webcam not recognized by Skype 6.18.0.106

Hello Skype Community members, since I updated Skype to the latest version 6.18.0.106, Skpype says that no camera was found which makes me unable to make video calls. In the previous version my camera worked without any problems. As a workaround I was installing previous Skype version, but since Skype is smart enough to detect being not up-to-date, it kept logging me off. I would appreciate any ideas how to resolve my problem. My computer spec:

    Intel i7-3610QM
    8GB RAM
    Intel HD4000 & GeForce GT 650M

  • Skype's Downfall

    Dear Skype Members,
I wish to share my personal experience and opinion on Skype's progression and how it has affected me.
First of all I am a long time Skype user so I go way back to 2006: i was a client way before the transition and sale to Microsoft so I started using skype in 2004.
I must say that over the years skype has come a long way and it has impressed me but when the Microsoft acquisition hit in 2011... A lot was changed.. Functionality, looks, feels, and it's protocol usages.
It has now become more problematic to even use skype then the ease of usage compared before the day of the Microsoft acquisition.
Let me give you some case an points:
    1.  in Skype 6.18.0.106 That was the last Version that i obtained for my old computer: it still has windows XP PRo Sp3 32bit installed on it.. And because of the architectural nature of it's build it is only able to run that version smoothly with out locking or crashing my computer: Yes I have tried other versions including the latest version on that system but the higher the version is the more unstable my system become to handle: memory and CPU bandwidth are nearly trippled on average usage and function thus my CPU resources are nearly at 88% of the time of usage.. Doing Cam calls with a group also is resource hogging but  6.18.0.106 was the most stable version and less resource hogging application to use - Skype versions have been re designed; re scripted and re-functioned to be used on newer laptops and computer desktops.
What really makes me sad is that Microsoft did not consider the fact of the majority of the Microsoft and Desktop/laptop client base that cannot afford 600 dollars and up to get a new PC.
And even at the base prices for PCs and laptops... The newer architectural designs for these units (Despite having multi cores and Cuda cores ) still have a limit on their Processing power when you buy the Cheapest ones because that is all you can afford or at the time could afford.
Despite Microsoft Skype team and Programmers making intruding and forceful update requirements on the client consumer base in this world it is very difficult for those whom are unable to use skype to its full potential and be able to have good experience for the usage.
    2. The newer versions up to the latest require more power: Microsoft thinks that since there is newer technology out there: they want to take advantage of the look and feel of how skype functions; this requires more power on the CPU/GPU areas including Ram, it also takes more bandwidth on your South and north Bridges.. Why do we need an application that takes more power?
Microsoft COME ON: People upgrade their Computers so that way they can handle the CURRENT APPLICATIONS they already have and make room for handling more apps! I had to save 2 months of money that i have earned within a year period just to get 1,200 dollars of spending power to create a new gaming rig.. That way I can use skype and everything else with ease...
But then Microsoft changes the functionality and look and feel of it? Thus increasing the System requirements to a higher ranking? Does anyone here feel like they are always in a Big fat HOLE that they cannot seem to get their way out of no matter how much they claw and kick up the wall of that hole to get out? Every time an update of Skype happens; More problems appear or something else gets removed and thus destroying and ruining the functionality of it's old true purpose!
Right now I am on a Computer that has the following build.. FX57 AMD so it has a good 2.8GHZ speed on it.. OCed to 3.0. It has a HT Link speed of 1Ghz, with a data width of 64Bits, 64 KB 2-way set associative instruction cache/data cache, with a Physical of Tb1, and 1 MB exclusive 16-way set associative cache with a 256 associated VT Memory with it. there is a total of  4Gigs of DDR1 pc3200 MHZ400; this is the max capable bandwidth/speeds available on the Motherboard. I have a Cache Drive that is 80GIGs with 8mb cache on the PCB, and has 7200RPMs on it's speed. I also have 2 500GIGs Hds that have have 16MBs cache o the PCs that are raided with striping method.
the GPU card is a GTX7900 with 512MBs so with this configuration it is a pretty good fast config for its time. Back then SKype in older versions ran soo smoothly but now with the latest versions.. It slags my PC like a snail.
I am going to be building a new system with newer components but guess what? There is going to be a time and place that my system will again become obsolete when it comes to running skype. When I first ran skype i had a old Emachines 633ids. it had 633 Intel celeron CPU with the max ability of ram on it which was one Gig. I was able to run Skype fine until updates from the old skype company did some changes to it thus increasing the requirements: that is how i ended up spending money to build the old gaming rig with the specs I just listed with the fx57 CPU and the rest. So this means I had to buy 2 computers so far just to keep using skype; 80% of the games (older games at least over 8 years old) I can still play perfectly fine on here.. I paid a lot of money for some of the work I do like Adobe soft and other programs that i use on this thing besides just gaming concerned: My point to all of this is, why must I always have to upgrade my PC or buy a new laptop just to bloody use the latest versions of skype?
Also considering the fact that Microsoft's Life Cycle Policy that was placed on Skype it has only caused more problems for us consumers, Support for older versions of skype is coming to an end as it has been posted on the news blog info site of skype.com.
so it is only going to put a strain on me: The point of skype is that back then skype was all about communication, Look and feel was not such an important thing to a lot of people, And if there ever was anyone that cared is it fair that those whom don't get punished for it?
Windows Live Messenger, was changed quite a bit over it's time, when I had the old Windows Live messenger I used to use just messenger, but then microsoft closed its ports and declined login capability : I was forced to use a newer version of skype that had more customizable look and feel for User pictures and the likes: The only real thing I liked about it was the grouping system and contact management as well as the new feature of Log files to be saved for chat.
It was still mostly a basic communication program that was used by millions: me being one of them, and if I wanted some insane changes done to the interface like idk.. make my entire bar and contacts look all purple or something or use sound boards or new icons i could simply install MSPLUS- I am sure a lot of you have heard of MSGPLus! just google it was a scripted API that allowed one to customize the look and functionality of WLM: Those who really wanted to change the way it looked and given it style. Still the simplicity and less resource hogging application WLM was one of the best achievements of all time when it came to communication reliability; i didn't mind the slight system requirements update on WLM, it wasn't so Drastic compared to Skype's!
And Finally one of the worst things that I have ever had to deal with skype:
Group moderation in chat: there is two types of chat systems; Cloud based and P2P based.
Every time someone creates a new group it auto creates by the default template from Skype itself and on the server: CLOUD-BASE, we do not for one get a choice when using CTRL+N or going to the menu bar to do so or when we add a few friends on our contact list to someone we are already talking with 1vs1, it turns it into a cloud.
I have four groups that i use: some for work, and leisure time. But I do not have full control and banishment and administrative tools available in the cloud: I think i want to be able to ban someone whom is causing problems whether it be temp or permanent, give people certain roles and abilities within the chat to help with moderation and functionality within my groups. Lucky enough there was a command that allowed you to do this:  /createmoderatedchat
But recently, Microsoft again stripped us of that functionality and you can only create this chat by using a version of skype 6.22.81.105 or higher: do you know how annoying this is? I actually had to create a portable skype with it's own database folder and run 6.22.81.105 just to create a moderated chat; on my old gaming rig I have to run 6.18.0.106 for reasons of performance concerns.
The latest version Skype 7.4.0.102 - When creating a group; and your the creator, you will NOT be able to see your group you just created in older versions of skype, Do you know how stupid this is? if I use the latest version of skype on my old gaming rig and log in: Oh yes I can see it just Fine, but in older versions I cannot.
If I create a P2P moderated chat in Skype 7.4.0.102 and also set a picture to the group profile properties: it will not show to older users, I don't know why this is like this but it just is.
Here is some things I noticed now:
Latest version creating a group chat p2p based:
6.22.81.105 cannot see the group you just made, (You will not appear inside the chat yo just made it won't be listed on your chat history or anything)
6.21.0.104, and 6.18 also cannot see the group you just made in 7.4.0.102
Basically anything below version 7.4.0.102 that has a P2P based group you made: it will not reflect in older versions.
This means my acquaintances, friends, and business clients that wish to have a group meeting with me, they will not be able to see themselves in another computer: lets say they have a new PC and create the new group: then they have to suddenly run off and so they take their laptop with them: which has an older version of skype and have to run that version of skype for performance issues, well guess what: they wont see themselves!
This is how stupid Skype has become!
I have to run 3 different versions of skype just to Do what I need to do on a daily basis!
Now Skype community: tell me this has really started to get really ridiculous? Because it really has!
oh and if I set a profile picture for the group chat i made; that will only show to ALL users with all versions if i create the modded Group chat in skype 6.22.81.105, then set a picture: it will reflect and show in the latest version of skype and also in my old 6.18 version..
And finally the last bit that really just killed the look of skype: What is up with all the bloody circles?!
I mean really it is like Skype/Microsoft stole the idea of circles from GOogle/Youtube and Imperial online when it came to profile pictures for your self and each user in a group or 1vs1 conversation.
Do I really have to go through all the trouble now of right clicking on a person to see their full profile picture now because their picture is bloody trimmed EVEN MORE around the entire edges? Ya i really want half my face CUT OFF to all my clients and friends when they want to find a picture of my face and see its mee and IM me, oh and I just really love it when it does that too to my group pictures like Cavedog Entertainment, or even Bricksquad: So much for properly showing my Company Logos of PCER, LTD, and Random00Six to my clients.
It's like Microsoft just coppied the idea from Imperial online and Youtube/Google+: But again who the bloody heck wants Circles?
    Circles
Look Skype community: I can understand that many of you may want to change the way Skype looks, feels and it's functionality, I don't blame the community at all: you should have the right to change the way you want skype to act and feel to your desires, but I blame Microsoft: it is not fair that everyone should be forced into using the ideas of someone elses, Skype should have been left to 3rd party developers whom wish to code and create scripts to modify the way skype looks, just like MSGPlus! did with Windows Live Messenger, but you have to understand there is some that just don't want to or care to change the way their Skype looks and want to keep it that way.
I have used Yahoo Messenger, AIM and other MSGing applications: NONE OF Them have done this stupid circle thing. Look for ICQ, AIM, and Yahoo messenger latest Versions. They still have a boxed picture profiling system and they give you the option to customize the way it looks a lot better then skype did, and some of these messenger apps still are simplistic and easy.
With these latest versions of these messengers I just named off: They all still work better then skype: I can run AIM, Yahoo messenger, ICQ, mIRC, and can have a yahoo call going on with video streaming and not lag my computer to Crap: if I can run all those messengers simultanoiusly, but must painfully (sometimes it crashes my PC) pulling out my hair, and barely run skype alone: there is obviously something seriously wrong here!
Has Microsoft not learned anything?: It is like the company has sacraficed Quality Performance and Simplicity for Beauty, they already did a horrible job of making windows 8 look like a overblown cattle bag of Mac OS Leopard's quickstart Bar: Window's 8's Start system with app lists is completely over exaggerated with a bunch of boxes blowing up your screen (Not even Mac Leopard and up had Application buttons and quickstart bar this complex and intruding!); and making the application search ability so complex that it takes longer just to work your apllications then compared to Windows XP.
Widows XP was the most outstanding operating system I have ever worked with and it has been a operating system that I have recommended for PC Desktop users since it is appearance, yes that is 14 years of exccellence when it came to a good OS; yes it had some flaws but it sure as heck was easier to use; and Microsoft patched up a lot of issues and security problems. I still semi recommend that operating system; but because of the life cycle issues I now recommend Windows 7.
Summary: the overall preformence and usage of Skype has dwindled greatly, and i must say, skype is no longer my main communication program anymore and I am sure that other users have had to find/ go back to an older application they used to use or are stuck with skype because that is where their friends and family are on so they have, so they use an older version.
I just wish that the old Skype was back, but those days are long gone, and one person whom shares their experiences of 11 years of usage would make any sound what so ever to the ears' of Microsoft.
I echo the pain and suffering of many skype users whom I have read countless Community forum complaints of problems with skype ever since Skype's Acquisition: it has bettered some users, but for others like my self; it has only caused problems and has made me to turn away from Skype.
I wish you all good luck in your Communication protocol issues and hope for the best.
    Kind Respects,
                           E J

I would appreciate that Any skype modorators or Administrators please contact me for copyright issues  when it comes to imaging usage on a post: I was not contacted for any violation in the TOS Policy what so ever; therefor there was no reason for my image to be removed.

  • Skype 6.18 crash even after exception provided for EAF

    Hi Support,
We have deployed EMET 5 to our 50 users. We observed that some Windows 7 x64  and Windows 8.1 x64 are facing issues with Skype. We observed that EMET is causing exe to stop. Uninstalling EMET resolve the problem and EMET 4.1 update 1 works fine with Skype
6.18.32.106 version. Our group policy already specify EAF, EAF+ protection are disabled for Skype.
It does not work even after downgrading Skype to any lower version. Can you please suggest best way to resolve the problem?
    1. Upgrade EMET 5 from version 4.1 update 1
    2. Upgrade Skype from version 6.14 to 6.18
    3. Quit Skype and Restart application

  • Skype Failed to install error 1603 after windows r...

Hey everyone! Thanks for any help in advanced.
Honestly after losing access to an old account and making a new account I've still been a long time fan of skype and love free 1 on 1 video calls. I'm really hoping this is an easy fix because honestly I've been looking at the skype community forums for the last hour and havn't been able to find a fix.
About 2 and a half hours ago I reduced the size of my only partiton on my 500 GB harddrive as much as I could. After doing this I reinstalled windows on the new 200ish GB partition. After installing and loading windows I coppied skype, smite, and steam from D:\Program Files to C:\Program Files (x86) and attempted to run skype. Skype opened and I signed in as usual but skype was having a really high CPU usage and kept reading/writing to some statistics.db file at several GB/s (Total IO was like 1.8GB/s, mostly write I think). The 13% cpu usage, although concerning as abnormally high, didnt really bog down performance too much. This high disk usage was really driving my mad as when it peaked my computer would almost stop responding and skype.exe would stop responding (although it resumed eventually). Skype in this state was unusable as any time the window was focused it almost crashed.
After this I decided to reinstall skype instead of using the backup I had. I went to uninstall skype and found that it didnt show up on the list to "uninstall a program" so I tried following as many steps I could at https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-skype-for...
I've also followed all the steps here except for installing an earlier version of skype as I'm not sure what version to use. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-Problems-Troubleshooting/td-p/52260
I force ended skype.exe then made backups of my skype user and pictures folders. I skipped step 3 since it wasn't in the list. I then did steps 4-6. While doing this I noticed it said there may be "up to 50" references to skype in the registry but I noticed there were a lot more. I'm not exactly sure how many there were but I counted up to 40 and when I noticed I was only half way through the registry I started spamming "delete" key "enter" (to confirm deletion) as fast as I could.  I'd say there were at least 70 skypes in the registry. I'm not sure if this registry includes things from my other installation of windows or if it got **bleep**ed up because of they way I tried to install skype.
After doing all this with my registry I rechecked to make sure the skype program files and skype app data folders were deleted and then tried to reinstall skype. Downloading from http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/ I tried to reinstall it and all I did was unchecked "run skype when windows starts" hit next unchecked the bing and skype click to call stuff, hit next. After it said installing for a while it said installation failed error 1603.
I tried following advice of several posts on the forums and other sites, including going through the registry again, using Microsofts FixIt for install/uninstalls, and trying to install skype from another administrator account. After looking at several posts, trying all these fixes, and looking into it myself I'm really not sure what to do.
I've looked at all of the following posts and tried all the fixes I saw.

http://www.msigeek.com/715/how-to-troubleshoot-the-error-1603-fatal-error-during-installation (This page gave me an "Error establishing database connection" page)
Not really sure what else to say or do, I've never really had to debug any programs or windows features before, and the only time I ever messed with the registry was a few windows installs before when I had to delete several instances of a self-reinstalling virus on my computer that spammed processes and lagged my computer.
Edit: After seeing this link I tried rerunning Microsoft's FixIt Install/Uninstall with the program ID from the folder name at %programdata%\Skype. I tried doing this and installing Skype from SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi. Installation failed with some failed to read file totally forgot what it was. I then tried using the standard InstallSkypeFull.exe and it gave an actual error this time instead of the apparently "generic" error 1603 (see attached picture) After this installation failed I tried reinstalling from the 6.1.0.129.msi and it didn't say it failed. I'm about to try and open it.
Anddd opening Skype failed with the error message in the attached skype2 picture. I'm just going to close everything related to that except for this post and I'm going to close all my installers and debug stuff I have open and just wait for a reply. Currently I believe the system thinks skype is installed but I can't open it.

I'm afraid that after all the manipulations your system is so messed up that a regular Skype installation is no longer possible.
    Try this:
Download but not run this msi-installer for Skype 6.9.0.106 version:
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi
Create a folder on your computer where you want Skype application to be located. This folder can also be C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\, but any other location will work too.
Now using the procedure described here:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/How-to-update-Skype-without-using-any-Skype-ins...
extract Skype.exe file from the SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi file and copy this Skype.exe file to the selected installation folder.
Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). You will have to start Skype using this new shortcut.
P.S. There is a new link to the latest Lessmsi program:

  • Skype to landlines - They can't hear me

I use Skype to make calls to landline or mobile phones quite a bit. I have tried calling several landlines this afternoon. I can hear them perfectly. However, they can't hear me. They say that I'm breaking up and only get bits and pieces of what I'm saying.
I don't think it's a microphone problem as I can call the Skype test number and I can hear the message I leave perfectly. Tried several times. This happens when I call from the US to Australia and for domestic US calls.
I'm running Skype 6.18.0.106 under Windows 8.1 Anyone else having problems calling landlines on Skype?
    Thanks

I got the same problem. Skype to landline, they can not hear me. I can hear them perfect.
Skype 2 skype calles work good. The problem is from my Android phone and woith the laptop so it can not be caused by my computer.
I also have a SkypeIn number and when people call me i get the same problem.
Drives me crazy, i just got a new yearly subscription for skypein and unlimited calling but i cant use it. And no way to contact skype because the chat never works.

  • Skype crashing every 4 to 6 hours

    System (Key components):
     - Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
     - i5 2310 Quad Core 2.9GHz
     - 8GB Ram
     - 1TB HDD
So, just as the subject says, my skype crashes every 4 to 6 hours. i get 3 different kind of errors:
"Thread creation error: Not enough storage is avaliable to process this command" - When i click on a link of a different chat after 4 to 6 hours.
"Out of memory at line: 1" - few minutes after the first error (not all the time)
"Not enough storage is avaliable to process the command." - straight after the second error.
These errors happen in that order, i have searched around and found solutions like renames the skype folder to "skype_old", but nothing is working. I also get these errors on my laptop that is using windows 8.1 pro 64bit with the desktop client.
Skype version: 6.18.106 (Happens on all 6.X.XXX versions)
    Error 1
    Error 2 & 3

What was your total physical memory percentage at that time in task manager?  For example my Chrome is eating that much right now and I'm also programming.  My physical memory is at 60% right now however I also have 16GB of RAM in my system.  If I was performing the same tasks on  your machine I might be running into more issues since I'm consuming 10GB of Physical RAM right now with everything open on top of the fact I have a 16GB swap file.  You might consider performing a chkdsk and clearing your pagefile in case there is some corruption there.

If you've enabled Skype logging in the past, disable it as well as it can use tons of hard drive space in a short amount of time.  At one point I had about 30GB of Skype log files on my machine.

  • A wierd problem after updating my skype

i not know if this is the good place to post it but if its wrong please move it to the good place.
after updating my skype to the new version from skype i got this message message from it and its telling me that i cant see my facebook friends message and tell me that i most download the newst versoin from skype after updating it to the new version.
my version from skype is: 6.7.0.102
that most be the last version from skype so far
can somebody help me maybe to fix this problem?

You may need temporary to disable AVG when installing the new Skype update or configure this Antivirus to allow Skype.
Alternatively, you can use this method.
Download, but don’t run this installer for the latest 6.9.0.106 version.
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi
    Using the procedure described here,
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows/How-to-update-Skype-without-using-any-Skype-installer/m-p/7073...
extract the Skype.exe file from the SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi file and replace your currently installed Skype.exe with this new Skype.exe file. You will be now running the Skype 6.9.0.106 version.

  • Skype 7 - Most ugly application in moment.

Skype 6.x is perfect application. But Skype 7 is worse.
    Skype 7 negatives:
    - worse UI;
    - unable to send picture file like JPG, I must archive it in RAR and then send;
    - in main Skype window have many spaces between rows, this lose space for more contacts in list. Must scroll list to see it.
    Skype 6:
    - all this negatives things missing.
I hope in new version of Skype to can choose Skin or to can personalise UI.
Today my old Skype 6.6.0.106 stop sign me in Skype network and I was forced to install Skype 7

  • Skype BSODs very often

Hello, Running the latest version of Skype on Windows 7 64-bit, all important Windows Updates installed. I have two problems regarding Skype giving me a BSOD. First, whenever someone calls me or I call someone, the computer freezes for a second and gives me a BSOD (I don't have the details right now). I think it happened to me like four times already. I said to myself I'd ignore that since I'm going to upgrade to W10 in a few days anyway. Then, when I tried to change my profile picture, a bizarre buzzing noise interupt all sounds that were incoming and following that, I got another BSOD, the noise lasting until the computer reset. I know I have various problems regarding my graphics card, but I'm not blaming it yet until I know whether the issue is Skype or not. I will post details if you need to. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help in advance.

Since you have Windows 7 the diagnostic doesn't contain a record of the BSOD.  Since you have an R7 it's more than likely your video drivers that are crashing.   You can always check your Event Viewer to see if it has any reference to atixxx. The solutions are either to find a driver version or configuration that doesn't crash with Skype or downgrade to a version of Skype that doesn't crash with your current driver.    Some people have claimed to resolve their problems by flushing out Skype completely and re-installing it.  Though I'm unsure of the exact correlation. To see if it's due to ATI's H264 encoder: Locate AMDh264Enc32.dll and rename or delete that file. To attempt to find compatible/working ATI drivers (I believe Catalyst 13 and above include that H.264 encoder): You should completely uninstall the current drivers following AMDs guidance:
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx
Afterward a 3rd party cleaner like DDU should allow you to remove the remaining traces:
    http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,14.html
You can then try to install older drivers (Catalyst 13.12 and higher) until you find a set/configuration that doesn't create the issue.
http://www.guru3d.com/files-categories/videocards-ati-catalyst-vista-win-7.html To downgrade to a version that might not trigger the problem, try Skype 6.14.  Available from here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18-0-106/m-p/3460911/highlight/true#M289818

  • Skype Locks Computer when Using Webcam

It seems every time Skype access my webcam, a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000, my computer completely locks after a few seconds.  This is true for both the latest version of the desktop client and the web client. I'm running Windows 10 Pro which is fully patched and drivers current. I have tried everything and nothing has worked.  The webcam works with every other video chat platform with no issue. I have 2 graphics cards.  Disabling the secondary did not work. Uninstalling and reinstalling Skype did not work. Formatting and reinstalling Windows did not work. Until there is a solution, I will happily use Google Hangouts for my video chat needs.

That's why everybody needs to zip their text files.  Zip files are allowed.  There are two possibilities for this type of failure. 1. USB issues -  It's best to connect the camera directly to the computer.  If you have the option to try non-USB 3 ports, try that as well.  If going through a hub make sure nothing else is connected to it and that it is powered.  You can also try other USB ports that you haven't used in the past to see if anything changes. 2.  Video driver/configuration issues -  This is probably a more likely culprit in this situation.  Some AMD cards have had problems with Skype.  Some of the HD series as well as the R7/9 series.  Some of this can be due to what's packaged with the Catalyst/Omega software.  One such possibility is the H.264 encoder.  You can try renaming the  amdh264enc32.dll file on your machine to something else so that it isn't loaded into memory.  Another option is to try to perform a minimal install of the existing drivers.  Your options are limited since there aren't too many Windows 10 compatible drivers released by ATI.  Ultimately your remaining option may be to downgrade to a previous release like 6.14. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18-0-106/m-p/3460911/highlight/true#M289818

  • "Oops, something went wrong." error message when t...

Since I was forced onto the new version of Skype due to the deprecation of historical versions I have been unable record a video message. Whilst I am able to participate in video calls with no hitches at all, attempting to record a video message instantly gives me the following error message:
    "Oops, something went wrong.
Please try again, or get in touch if you need help."
Unfortunately, Microsoft struggle to implement error codes in their software, I can only assume this is because consumers find technical looking numbers terrifying, so I have absolutely no idea what the problem is - it could be a near infinite number of things.
I have done a full reinstallation of Skype, multiple times, including deleting all registries that are associated with Skype (as suggested in the Skype support site), clearing any obvious user caches that exist, and so on. Still, the problem persists. Not a single video source available on my computer allows the recording of a video message, so I do not believe this is a problem with my webcam or driver.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Skype 6.18.0.106.
I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this frustrating problem. Thank you.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit version).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • FIFA 13 failed to install after download, I deleted its waiting Icon on IPad2 during download on ITunes, pls help

I mistakenly deleted the fifa13 waiting icon while I was downloading the game via iTunes on my PC after full download the game keep failing to install on ipad2 via iTunes. Please help me out with alternative.

What would be the rest of message? Do I have to uninstall Skype?
    Thanks.

Try to uninstall any currently installed version using this MS Fix It:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en
If this will still not help, then try this:
Download, but don’t run this installer for the latest 6.9.0.106 version.
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi
    Using the procedure described here,
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows/How-to-update-Skype-without-using-any-Skype-installer/m-p/7073...
extract the Skype.exe file from the SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi file and replace your currently installed Skype.exe with this new Skype.exe file. You will be now running the Skype 6.9.0.106 version.
