Skype 7.4 still not 100%

Dear Skype
I installed 6.22 last October and immediately reverted to 6.21. I downloaded 7.4 today (offline installer which by the way you should make MUCH more accessible). It seems to me that the desktop UI is now better, and you have corrected many problems. However, it needs further improvement:
I can only see 17 contacts compared to 21 on 6.21, while I would like to see 25 or even 30. While I have a touch 14" computer I mainly use a mouse and icon spacing is not important.
The lefthand pane is FAR wider than necessary - it should be easy for you to give us control over its width. I note MS also limits column width in File Explorer to 80 pixels - another total pain.
The top part of the lefthand pane also takes far more space than needed.
I would be REALLY grateful if you could address these issues in a future release. I plan to try 7.4 for a couple of weeks before deciding whether to revert to 6.21, or take some other posters' suggestion and try Google Talk. So far (after an hour), I am hopeful I will be able to stick with it.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • DFSR- Initial sync shows completed(eventID 4104), but still not 100%

    We are running a 2008R2 domain, but the DFSR members for this replication group are both 2003 R2 and 2008 R2.  I have 4 different servers that all had similar(not 100% exact) contents in the folder before DFS.  I setup DFS
    in a Multi-purpose and full-mesh model and chose one of them to be the primary server.  I noticed that the other members receive an eventID 4104(Initial Replication complete), but still do not have some files that exist on the primary server.  Actually,
    all 3 member servers have the 4104, but 2 do not have some old files and 2(including primary) do have the older files.  These are not special files at all and I do not think those files were coped recently.  Does anyone have any ideas of how a server
    can throw a 4104, but still not be 100% in sync with the primary? The local System account does have full permissions on the old files that are outstanding on some of the members.

    Hi Dan Heim,
    Please create a diagnostic report for DFS Replication, it will give you an overview about all files on all DFSR member servers. 
    In additional, check your staging size is set high enough on the replicated folder. If the staging folder not being big enough, DFS will be constantly trying to reduce the staging folder to be within the limits.

  • Skype for android still not working

    Since nearly to months now skype for android is not working on my phone. Reinstalling and uninstalling and then reinstalling does not help. Erasing and cleaning up eather.
    It seems that the skype account is not being accepted on the phone . any sugestions?

    Long hold on the Skype installation item in the Store application and select "Cancel". Then move to your phone's application list, find Skype there and select "Uninstall".
    After that reboot your phone and install from the Store again.

    Please contact customer service directly to sort this; we here in the Community do not have the resources to determine where the issue originates let alone to resolve it.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    The key is to skip past Step 2 of the instruction, since you know you need to contact Skype Customer Service, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request.  Also, there would be no need to return to the Community seeing as the Community is where you started.

    One possible reason why Skype Number does not work is "it already expired". Skype always send email notification on the primary email address of the account about the order confirmation, status of your account/subscription.
    I would suggest that you do the following to see the status of your Skype Number:
    1. Check the inbox of your primary email address on the account. Skype may have sent you an email notification about the status of your Skype Number.
    2. Log in to your account and see if the order for your Skype Number renewal has been delivered. When youlog in to your account in the website, go to Billing and Payments then click on Purchase History. You will see the status of your Online Number renewal, if you dont see the order as Delivered, that means the payment for your Skype Number was not successful.

    Unplug the charger and then replug. Will probably charge to 100%.
    You may need to recalibrate the battery. Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

    Either way the result is the same... if you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

    I am have been subscribing to a Skype number, but when I call it an automated female voice answers the number despite that I have been trying to reset it by switching Skype privacy settings. When I call from Skype to my phone a caller id number that I don't know shows on my phone.

    I've lit windows detect the operating program for this device on the internet, it said "Windows has detected that the operating  program of this device is up to date. As this screenshot shows.
    What should I do because nothing lift to try? If you have a look at the ninth drivers in my previous message, you will see that no other drivers for Bluetooth lift.

    Yes, if you had a look at my first post, you would have seen that I really have downloaded and installed the drivers suitable for bluetooth, which was only Dell
    Wireless 1702 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver, which made the bluetooth recognized by Windows 7(64Bit). However, the bluetooth in the device manager still has an exclamation mark as it is shown in the device manager.
    I don't have any other drviers which can do more than the what Dell
    Wireless 1702 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver did because I have tried all the drivers listed under 'Network', exept the what are for Etherent.
    Yes, when I have tried adding the bluetooth between two laptops(Mohammad and Nasreen).  the bluetooth was added for both laptops as you see in these screenshots below:
    The Bluetooth devices of Nasreen's laptop whose bluetooth is having some problems in Device mangage.
    The Bluetooth devices of Mohammad's laptop  whosse Bluetooh is defined well in device manager.
    But there is still problem in the device managre as shown in the screenshot listed before.
    Second: (Important) That when I want to send files or recieving between two bluetooth added in either laptop, I could send them. Also, when I open the Mohammad's bluetooth added in Nansreen's laptop( screenshot
    below), I can show what is inside it.
     However, when I open the the Nasreen's bluetooth addd in Mohammad's laptop, I noticed  no reponse at all because as you see that disconnected is written in fornt "Nasreen-Pc" as this screenshot: 
    Although sometimes Nasreen-Pc gets connected as screenshot below, but I am still not able to open the Bluetooth folder of Nasreen-pc from Mohammad-pc. When trying to do that, no response is there.
    In other times, Nasreen-pc gets connected for a while, but it comes back disconnected.
    Third:: I noticed that the name of Laptop whose Bluetooth was added listed in 'My computer' for the laptop whose Bluetooth is having some problems in the device manager.(First Screen shot below)  However,
    the name of the laptop whose Bluetooth is having problems wasn't listed on other laptop's "my computer"(Second Screen shot below)
    Finally: : when I clicked "right-click" on "Nasreen-PC" and then clicking on "detecting and troublshooting issues", I found that windows informed me that :

    Certain driver packages contain drivers from some of the essential services only and for additional services, separate drivers must be installed. Additionally, the service is installed only if a compatible device is installed (or paired).
    Therefore, you are seeing the error.
    If you are using the Bluetooth L2CAP Interface and Bluetooth Remote Control services and not able to install the services, you can try unpairing the device, restart the PC, pair the device and then check. If that too fails, you need to install a suitable
    driver, sometimes even other OEM drivers solve the issue. You can Bing/Google about this. You can also contact Dell Support for more information.

    I really didn't understand what you mean with in your first part the service is installed only if a compatible device is installed (or paired).
    The Bluetooth is integrated with
    the laptop, then  where other services will come from, all service are related to Bluetooth.
    If there are some additional services not related to Bluetooth,
    then how can I either let them functioning well or disable them in order to get rid of the yellow exclamation mark
    on the name of my laptop in the Device and printers.
    Also, I really have installed a
    BCBT7(Broadcom Bluetooth) for HP which really defined the same Bluetooth issue,
    Device manager after installing the entire setup of driver BCBT7(Broadcom Bluetooth) on HP laptop
    but  when trying to install the same
     BCBT7(Broadcom Bluetooth)  on Dell,  I faced the error below, although there is an icon for Bluetooth in
    the system tray. Also, the Bluetooth is integrated as
    you have seen in the device manager.

  • Iphone dropping wifi then reconnects while on skype or viber but not netflix

    while on call in skype or viber at home, my iphone 4 would drop the VOIP call, wifi icon immediately switches back to 3G then after 2 seconds switches back to wifi again(I never have to go connect again manually, it always comes back by itself).  All happens without any intervention, and once the wifi icon comes back i can dial skype call again.  This could happen 3 or 4 times on a 30 mins skype/viber call. 
    I have a 1st gen 3G iPad as well and I use it to watch movies on netflix, it has never dropped the wifi like that even after watching movies for more than an hour.  Its just very strange. I've search around the internet and people who have iphone wifi drop problems always have to go reconnect to wifi manually or restart the phone to connect, which is not my case.  I've also tried resetting the network settings on the iphone, didn't help.
    I have 2 PCs, a Macbook pro, and a PS3, all using the same wifi connection, and like the ipad none of them have any problems with the wifi at all (not all connected a the same time, i usually have the MBP and the 2 iOS devices connected at all times). And for the iPhone, the wifi drop seems to isolate to Skype and Viber calls only.  Anyone have any idea how to fix this? by the way, i have never tried VOIP call on other wifi networks other than my house, so I don't know if this is because something is wrong with my equipment at home.  VOIP call on 3G network when wifi is not available doesn't have any problem.
    I have a AT&T iphone4 on 4.3.2, wifi is through a Linksys router (g i think), I'm also using an AT&T microcell that 70% of the time doesn't even show up on my iphone.  Thanks!

    I have the same issue with my Iphone4, never had this with my Iphone 3gs.  I have tried a different router (I have a d-link and a netgear) and no difference.  I read on another forum that bluetooth might interfere.  Yesterday I ran a test and after I turn bluetooth off I did not have any dropped Skype calls.  before this my Skype call would drop or I would have a really bad connection about 8min or so into the call.  I think this is because the iphone will start up bluetooth and it interferes with wifi.  I am not 100% sure this cures the problem but it might.

    So, I cannot install the latest version of Skype. It's really frustrating as every time I try to install it, an error comes up saying ''Failed to get proc address for GetLogicalProcessorInformation (KERNEL32.dll)''
    - I tried opening Skype after installation by clicking on the icon, but the same thing happens.
    - I have also tried uninstalling and installing Skype several times, but nothing works.
    - I downloaded the Service Pack 3, as I have read about this problem and some websites recommended doing this, but again nothing worked, same error appeared.
    - I also cannot download older versions of Skype, because whenever I install them, it takes me to the login page and so I put my login details but it doesn't let me through, and it says that they have signed me out because I have an outdated version of Skype.
    Please help, as I don't know what to do, I tried everything and there is no solution.

    The scroll-bar is STILL NOT working right in the 10.6.1 update.  I am not able to click anywhere on the scroll-bar and have the navigation go there.  I have to drag the blamed thing where ever I want it to go.  This problem only exist with the recent iTunes 10.6.x updates. 

    I have the new MacBook Pro 2010, Dell 3007WFP. No mirroring problemsat that or higher res. I was chagrined, however, to find out that while my 2007 15" MacBook Pro had no problems driving the Dell 30", the 2010 17" requires the Dual Link cable for $100 extra. ;>(
