Ok, it is two weeks now. I have been using skype for years with minimal problems. However, now every time I turn on the computer, it tries to connect and gives me the above message. I have followed all the tips (all the very complicated in my view steps to name it something old, reinstall, uninstall old, make sure the latest is installed.....) and I continued to get the same message. Once, it seemed to actually open but the next time I turned on the computer, the same problem.
Any actual help for this?
I have windows 7 and the LATEST updated skype (just installed AGAIN) today.abhishekalekar wrote:

'Skype has stopped working' problem
Hi,
For some unknown reason my Skype has started refusing to work.
As soon as load it up it logs me in then briefly shows me my contact list for a few seconds before a pop up appears saying:
'Skype has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'
After another few seconds the pop up changes to saying
'Sype has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
I had a look around on google and tried some suggestions but none have worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled skype about 5 times so far. Twice using previous version of Skype but even they don't work.
Any help would be appreciated!
Currently running Windows 7

"Skype has stopped working" Error Message Windows 8.1 Skype 7.6
Hi, I just now installed the desktop version, I was previously using the other Windows 8 version, not sure what it's called but that doesn't matter. I was trying to call my friend and it said there was a problem with my mic. Well I bought a new mic and came home and it said there was a problem with my mic. I uninstalled it and installed the desktop version, thinking it would work better, but the desktop version tells me that it cannot detect my soundcard and to reboot my laptop. Upon starting up at the welcome screen, I continued to log in, and wait for my programs to load up. I opened skype, it closes without showing up, three more times I do this before running as admin. It tries to load and then gives me the crash report "Skype has stopped working" and says windows will let me know when they find a fix.
Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Skype 7.7 Crashes on Windows 10 | "Skype has stopped working"
Hi all!First of all, I would like to say that I recently upgraded to Microsoft Windows 10 from 8.1 as of this morning. I love it, but there is one problem; my Skype client won't start up. As soon as I boot it up, it says "Skype has stopped working. Windows will try to find a solution", or something along those lines. I have uninstalled Skype, renamed the folder, disabled my firewall, deleted files in my %temp% and Skype folder, etc. etc. to no avail. When I did a DxDiag it said no problems were found in every category. However. I did find an interesting entry in the log that might be of help, so here it is.
