Skype account restricted with NO reason

I was using my Skype this morning as usual when i suddenly it logged me out. When i tried to log back in, it said "Skype could not recognize your details". I spoke with an agent on live chat and he said it seems like there were restrictions imposed on my Skype account but no reason was given.
I tried to use the recovery system but it kept saying "could not recognize details...".
So what's up with that? Just locking my account with clearly no reason as the live chat rep stated.
Can someone look into this?
Can provide all necessary information, please help me out - i need that Skype because I had many important contacts.
The Skype I am inquiring about is my secondary Skype.

I was wondering if u have ever gotten things worked out as I'm having the same problem. I've filled out the form multiple times and every time they tell me they cannot varify my account, fill the form out again. I talked to someone on live chat and they said the person should be able to do something and just reply back to their email. I did and know response. Is there a way to contact management?

  • Skype account restricted

I bought a skype unlimited call to India. I am using it for calling relatives, local call and my friends. Suddenly I got an email stating below:
    Fair usage policy violation blocking
We have noticed some prohibited usage of your Skype subscription.
As a result, your subscription will be terminated within the next 24 hours, moreover, you will no longer be able to use or purchase any of Skype’s paid-for products.
The suspension of your access to Skype paid-for products is permanent and you will be unable to transfer any existing paid-for products to a new Skype account, or receive a refund. However, you will be able to continue to make Skype-to-Skype calls and send instant messages.
    No explanation and nothing.
Is this fair to block my paid subscription without even a single warning? In the middle of my ongoing subscription?
    Please note these points :
    1)     This Skype id is maximum login on three devices – my two smartphones and a Pc.
    2)     Mostly long calls are on selected approx 5 numbers which are of relatives,my wife.
    3)     Mostly short call are to my big circle of friends and my wife also uses to call her relatives as this is our family account..cant we do it?
    4)     Total no of calls I don’t know is how much but its our account and me , my wife our kids all like to use what we bought. But surely there are not millions of calls we do from this…..
This is so sad and irritating being a such long customer of skype iam facing this. Earlier we used to use the calling option from PC so the calls may be less in number last year but these year we started using skype on smart phones via wifi so our numbers increased….but is this wrong? We are using our smartphones J
Iam real wondering what should I do as I have left around 25 euros in my account and iam the person who was till date so impressed with skype that I have recommended it to all my friends , relatives’…I was a big fan but then this happened…
Please skype customer service team I couldn’t find how to contact you so please consider all the points I said above and before kicking me out let me know my fault..
    Pleaseeeeeeeeeee….

  • Skype Account Blocked for no Reason!

I recently purchased Skype credit and a subscription (several years after dumping Skype due to the poor service). After only 3 days of using the service, my Skype account was suspended. Skype claims there is suspicious activity on my account. I would like to know how it is suspicious that I use my credit to make calls/send text messages?! I have filled in the contact form twice and reset my password three times. Yet my account remains blocked, and I can only make free Skype-to-Skype calls. Skype email customer service is hopeless and not helping to resolve the issue. I am afraid the time of my subscription will run out before (if ever) the issue is resolved. Please does anyone know how I can request a refund of my money? If Skype will not let me use it, the least they can do is to return it to me. I have realized it was a mistake to purchase Skype credit and attempt to use Skype for mobile calls/text messages. In future, I should restrict myself to free Skype-to-Skype calls. Thanks!

'Can I delete my Skype account?'
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Security-Privacy-Trust-and/How-Do-I-Delete-My-Skype-Account/td-p/31461...
As noted in #2, above, the last step is to file your request to remove/delete/cancel your Skype account directly with Skype Customer Service. Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
Last and not least, when you reach the last step of the process, remember to click on the "Start Chat" link when you are provided the choice of visiting the Community or starting an instant message chat with a customer service agent.

  • Account restricted - no reason/no notification

I would just like to post here to say that the actions of skype are disgusting.
    1) My account has apparently been restricted - No notification/No warning/No reason given to me.
    2) I do not have/nor will I ever subscribe or pay for anythign skype especially now.
    3) The forms required to apparently un-restrict my account invade MY privacy, by asking for not only RL details, but also names of those on my contact list.
    4) Information requested is things that are from YEARS ago that I can't remember, and didn't know I needed to remember in order for skype to unrestrict an account that shouldn't be restricted in the first place.
    5) I did not ask/request or want my windows 8 account linked to my skype account but there it is.  Which note I can't now apparently unlink because my account has been suspended.
    6) If I think my account has been compramised I will alert Skype not the other way round.  If they wish to advice me they THINK it has been, for me to decide if my account should be suspended, all good, if they wish to advice me to change my password, then so be it.  However this is ridiculous
The laughable part of all this is that I don't want Microsoft knowing everything about my life which they seem to think they have a right to.  I do intend to go over their privacy policy and if necessary make a formal complaint about their own invasion of it.
I am finding it very amusing that I was actually changing my password due to an unrelated incident to be safer.  Nice one skype.  Now I guess i have to wait for 24 hours for you to be bothered to do anything, and no doubt you will inform me that my details don't match, especially since my surname is currently "none of your business"

  • My Skype account is currently restricted.

    Hi,
In March my account was hacked and a moderately large amount of EUR was charged to me.  Since I live in the US, only use $, and at the time already had a $2.99 unlimited calling subscirption, I disputed the charges thinking Skype surely could see that they were fraudulent.   For about two months after my dispute, my account was restricted.
In April the restrictions were removed and I enjoyed a month of being able to use Skype as a home phone again.  Unfortunately yesterday when I went to activate another month of calling, Skype had restricted my account again, with no explanation.
I requested that my account be unrestricted and asked why it was locked in the first place.  The response from second level support failed to explain why my account was locked.  They did tell me that my account could not be unrestricted because it was restricted, which also didn't tell me much...  Exact quote below:
"We understand that your account has been restricted. I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you. I will be more than glad to check that for you.
Please be informed your account was automatically restricted by our security system. We know how important it is for you to have the account release from restrictions, however we are sorry to inform you that the restriction of the account could no longer be lifted because there are restrictions that is in place with the account."
I have this account tied to my microsoft account, several devices (including my xbox one), and many of my contacts are stored/tied to this account.  I feel like I'm being punished because my account was hacked and would really like to have my account unrestricted so I can continue using the skype service.
Is there anyone from support who can assist me with this?

  • Restricted Skype Account - Can't Get a Straight An...

    Hello all,
Hoping someone here can help. I've had my Skype account for several years now, recently I logged into the Skype website (not the application) only to discover my account has been restricted - I can no longer purchase skype credits NOR can I even unlink my linked Microsoft or Facebook accounts.
So I promptly check support regarding this and send a support ticket in, asking for details as to why my account has been suspended and what to do to remove the restriction. I get this answer which doesn't really tell me anything at all:
"Our automatic systems detected that activities which are contrary to Skype's Terms and Conditions have taken place via your Skype account. As a result, your account has been restricted and will remain restricted until further notice.
For details on Skype's Terms of Use, please click on this link."
Well, that doesn't help. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who has access to my Skype account and I'm pretty sure I never broke the Terms of Use. And now apart from starting a new ticket Skype isn't responding to me...
Has anyone else been in this situation where their automated system may have flagged your account incorrectly? How did you go about contesting it? I can't seem to get any straight answers from Skype apart from "Read the Terms of Use"
Any help would really be appreciated in this matter.

Well I was able to exchange a few more emails with them, and the basic jist is this:
    - Their automated system flagged my account for some activity or another - I still don't know what exactly in the terms of use I supposedly broke - the only answer I have been given is that I did something against the terms of use that set off their automated system to put my account into restriction. The only answer I'm given is always "Read the terms of use for more details" Why can't they just tell me what exactly was flagged?
    - They indicated that my account is "under investigation" but gave no timeframe for when this would be completed.
    - While my account is under investigation, I cannot unlink my Microsoft or Facebook accounts from Skype. This is concerning for me since both my MS and Facebook accounts are in good standing and I don't want a dud Skype account linked to them if it comes to it.
    - Their recommendation - create a new account, which really doesn't solve anything at all. And even if I did create a new account, not only will I have to undergo the hassle of importing all my old contacts, but I won't even be able to link my FB or Microsoft accounts either since they are stuck on the old account.
So I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. Skype support is basically saying I did something bad but won't tell me what. They say my account is being investigated but can't give me a timeframe for it to finish, and basically when I ask what can be done they shrug their shoulders and telling me to create a new account. I'm extremely frustrated at this point but I really don't know what I can do anymore.
Any thoughts or advice would be great in this regard.

  • Account restricted, no help from Skype staff

    Hello,
Recently, my account has become "restricted"- I am unable to call phones or other skype accounts, and the skype customer service inquiry responded with a cryptic message that my account had "violated the terms of service". I have emailed back and forth with them six times now, and no one has been able to explain to me how or in what way I have violated these terms of service- I'm not even sure if I am responsible or if my account has been hacked. I'd really like to be able to talk to my overseas family again! Please help!

I've now emailed skype help three times about this issue and the responses I have received have been stock copy-and-paste emails that don't address my concerns at all - I've simply been told that I've violated the terms of service (no response on how?) and that I can make a new account. Any suggestions for how to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated!

  • Skype account with new Tld ?

    hi,
my company bought a new domain with .fish, and some e-mail address. I would create a new Skype account but on the 'join us' page, I wrote the e-mail address .fish and I get a message ' Email address not valid' ... Skype doesn't work with the new TLD .fish ?
Some of you experienced the same issues ? there are a kind of restriction with some domain name / extensions ?
    thank you in advance
    Andrea

Hi, Barbiemaman, and welcome to the Community,
Yes, you can use your Skype account anywhere and on any computer or device upon which the software or app is installed.  Your account is not tied to the software; Skype does this so that anyone else could sign on and use Skype when you are not doing so.
Be aware of the possibility of excessive data charges while roaming ...
    Kind regards,
    Elaine

  • Troubles with my main Skype account - Please help ...

    Ok, so it's like this.
I used to talk with my friends on my main Skype account ALL the time. For that reason, I would always have the option to 'sign me in automatically' checked, so I didn't have to keep entering in my password over and over because it's quite long. Well, one day, Skype stopped signing me in automatically for some reason. By that point, it had been so long since I entered my password that I actually forgot what it was (silly of me, I know). So I figured, "All right, no big deal, I can just reset it using my e-mail address".
When I went to reset my password using my e-mail address, there were two other Skype accounts attached to it; neither of them were my main account. I don't understand how this is possible, because I use only one e-mail address for pretty much everything. I know for a fact that my main account was registered with that e-mail address. So now, I've lost all of my friends Skype names just because I can't access my main Skype account. The only piece of information I have is my Skype name. I don't remember my password and I can't reset it because it says it isn't registered to my main e-mail.
I have another e-mail address on Yahoo! that I barely use. I tried to reset my password with that as well, thinking that perhaps I used it instead, but no luck.
What should I do? I really want my main account back. Is there any way I can fix this?
    Thanks so much for reading.
    Sincerely, Plastreaka

I would also recommend checking that your computer/operating system is fully updated, and that you run your preferred anti-spyware/malware/virus software with updated virus signature files.  Skype would always recommend you use the latest version.

  • Can log in with Skype account, cannot log in with ...

    Windows XP SP3
    Skype Desktop Client 6.14.0.104
Problem: l can successfully log into Skype with an old (~1 year) Skype name, but if I try to switch over to sign in with a new (as of 2 hours ago) Microsoft Account, I get this error:
Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.
    What I have done/tried:
Created a new MS Account with a gmail address
Verified the email address by clicking the link sent to that account
Successfully signed in to MS Account profile page with that email address
Tried to sign in to Skype desktop client with that account, got the error above
Switched to Skype login, successfully connected
Switched back to new MS account, login failed with error above
Verified the email address username was correct by copy/pasting after a successfully Live account profile login
Reset password following the instructions on the FAQ page
Successfully logged into Live account page with new password
New password fails with same error
Uninstalled client and downloaded the latest verision
Same thing: MS account login fails, Skype name works
    Came here
Does anyone have any ideas?  I assume the system is up in general and I can reach it across the internet, or my old name would not work. Is this a problem of an account that's too new?
Why not just use my Skype name?  Well, I'll be interviewing some candidates for a position on my team later this afternoon, and don't want my normal username getting out to a lot of people.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

One extra piece of info: if I enter an incorrect password, I immediate get
That password is incorrect. Be sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account.
If I enter a bogus MS Account name, I get "account doesn't exist".
If I enter my correct MS Account detail, I get the blue Skype login screen with the spinning "wait" logo before being bumped back to the login page with the original message from my first post.

I can log in with a Skype account can't log in with a Microsoft account

weird. isn't there an option for signing in with a microsoft account? do you have a skype name and password? if that's the case, then it's mostly likey that the only way to get into skype is using your skype name and password.
    it's the most likley explataion.
