Skype app not working and needs "repair"

Hello, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. But yesterday I tried to use my Skype app on my Sony Vaio (I'm running Windows 8.1) and it just hung there for a few minutes, it was just the skype screen with the logo on it. I turned away then noticed that the app had closed, so I clicked it again and the same issue happened. Figuring 3rd times the charm I clicked it, only this time I got a notification from my computer saying that the app couldn't open and to go to the Windows Store. Once i get there it says that the app needs to be repaired, so I press the repair button, and I get the little green dots at the top that show that its working. After a few minutes, I get a notification saying that the Skype app has been installed, so when I go to my start screen and press on it, it says the same thing, that the app can't open and to go to the Windows Store. So I left it alone, this morning when I turn on my laptop I have a blue square with no Skype logo instead of the usual Skype app, I click on it and the process starts over. For some reason it just isnt repairing...is anyone else having this issue or can help me solve it? :/

skype is always showing me online when i was not really please repair it.

Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, your iPhone may need to be serviced to fix that button. However, if in the meantime you would like a workaround for turning the volume up on a phone call, you can use Assistive Touch:

Filevault "did not open and needs repair" upon Login

When attempting to login my second time after installing Leopard onto my Macbook, a warning appears saying that "Your FileVault-Protected home folder did not open and needs to be repaired. Click ok to repair the folder and continue logging in. Click cancel to log in as a different user."
Naturally, I clicked OK in hopes that it would just log me in as normal.
However, when i clicked OK it says "You are unable to log in to the user account 'elizabethsherman' at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred."
I've tried restarting multiple times, but nothing is working.
My login picture has also magically changed. I don't think that correlates with the problem..
Has anyone ran into this problem or know what i should try to do??

Please help!! Laptop is not working and needed for homework!!!

I have a Toshiba laptop. The model is Satellite A215-S5837. The problem I have is this. Starting this morning when I turned on my laptop it was black for 10 minutes and then it starts loaing files. After it is finished loaing it goes to the regular Windows Vistas is loading screen. Then it goes black again and after 10 more minutes the mouse cursor shows up an nothing else. It nevr gets to the welcome screen where I can log on. It just stays black with a mouse cursor that responds when I move it. Please help quickly because I have homework ue soon for my summer class and I need to finish it tommorrow else I fail.
P.S. Please don't tell me to restore my computer because I don't have my restore disk with me because I am currently studying abroad.

Hi,
Any help appreciated. My printer is Photosmart C7288 All-in-One Printer.
As of 2 days ago my printer has not been working. It comes up with several error messages after I switch it on. The first one is "Ink system failure: Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, recieve faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0105. Turn power off then on again."
However when I turn power off then on again via the 'power' button, ".ink system failure Then the same original error message comes up (0xc18a0105). This is the most frequent error message and won't go away. Then I also keep getting a message saying "Photo Tray Problem: Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed in until it stops, lower output tray". Despite the fact that I have not used the photo tray in several months and it is in the correct position.
So far I have tried switching the printer on and off several times using the power button. I also switched the printer off at the plug last night (after it had been properly shut down) and switched it back on this morning. I have looked through the printer documentation but could not find any troubleshooting advice for this kind of problem. I have updated the HP driver using software update on my mac, and the problem is still there.
I'm getting desperate now, I rely on my printer/scanner/photocopier a lot!

IPhoto app not working and will not update.

My iPhoto app is not working on my MacBook Pro. I have version 9.3.2 of iPhoto and when i try get into it a message pops up saying "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X." The app won't update either. When I try to update it it comes up that there is an error with the app store. Can anyone help!?

Did you upgrade the operating system on your MBP to Mavericks? If you have then that's why the 9.3.2 version of iPhoto won't run. Here's a screenshot showing which versions of iPhoto will work with Mavericks and those that won't:
If that's the case go to the App Store to download iPhoto 9.5.1 and install it.

Cdrom not working and need to format ibook

hi there had a search but couldnt find anything directly.
my g3 ibook, 900mhz power PC G3 laptop has a faulty cd rom and no longer works, and i need to format the ibook to delete any personal and data so i need to format it ready to sell.
i have and osx 10.4 cd,
how do i go about formatting my laptop without the cd rom drive. usb hard drive? if so how etc or any other ways, really want to delete an clear it before selling it on.

OS X 10.4 initially came as a DVD, just to make sure you know that.

Facebook app not working and my blackberry world has completely disappeared, help please!

Hi guys, I'm in a real stooper, my facebook app. Was due an upgrade but soon after the upgrade it stopped working and everytime I click on to the icon it crashes the phone so I have to switch it on and off again to get it working, it then displays an error message. I've also noticed that my blackberry app. World icon has totally disappeared.
I really hope someone can give me some advice as I don't really know where to go from here and who to contact, please help!!

LifeDrive revived - Outlook 2003 not working and needs periodic battery re-insertion

My Palm LifeDrive has been revived with all of its attendant data. I had a prior problem with a dead battery, and ordered one on-line. I received a cheap Oriental no-name battery (with screwdriver), and replaced the dead Sony battery that was in there. After charging, it seems to work.
I now have a couple of problems that are minor in comparison. First, when the display times out and the unit turns itself off, I have to reboot it to switch it back on. The slider switch on top doesn't work in that case. If I switch it off myself, it turns back on easily and does not require a reboot.
The other thing is a good news/bad news problem. The good news is that the ACCESS Palm desktop works if I log in into Windows 7 as a normal (non-Admin) user for the first time ever. Also, for the first time, the Bluetooth Sync feature works without error for the first time as a non-Admin user. Logging into W7 is also flawless, with no error dialogs popping up from the HotSync drivers as they are loading. Bad news is that I can't see any information at all under Outlook 2003 for the first time. Is this necessarily an either/or proposition? I want to merge Project 2003 with the Outlook scheduler, but now I will have two separate schedules on separate software. Why can't I see my schedules and contacts under Outlook? Any ideas?
[later added 4/29/2012] There is another problem now. The LifeDrive has switched itself off unaccountably so that neither the ON switch nor soft/hard resetting will turn it back on. Only another disassembly/reassembly of the LifeDrive (battery removal and re-insertion) would revivie it again. Any ideas as to what might be wrong or how to troubleshoot it?

It seems that deploying a PRF file is best based on the research as well as some of the links which Amy shared. Users are using Outlook 2010 using the /importprf switch however with outlook 2010 the " Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft
Exchange" is enabled by default this causes some of the users to be continuously prompted for authentication, I was able to manually fix the issue by disabling "Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange"

We can't do this manually but want to modify the PRF file to disable this. So far the only documentation referring to this is for Outlook 2003 to
enable this, it was disabled by default with this version of outlook.

Windows (or Windows Preview)
Mac OS X 10.5.8 (or later)
Linux
Your Smartphone

or your other Skype-enabled devices. (See respective manual for details.)
From there, you can sign into Skype. If you have forgotten your password, need to manage your Skype account, purchase/recharge for services, or do some other account-related activity, you can begin it on your Skype Client or you can visit Skype.com to perform them.

Experiencing frequent "app not responding" and needing a hard reboot with ML 10.8.2

I am frequently needing to do a hard reboot (press the power button) to restart my MBPro8,2 with OS X 10.8.2 (12C60). The issue happens most commonly when browsing the web with either Safari 6.0.1 or Google Chrome 23.0.1271.64. This was a rare event with 10.6.8 to the point that I am considering "upgrading" my system back to SL for a more reponsive and, in particular, more stable OS. I am reaching the point of wanting out of all the ML bloat in favor of stability. Anyone else suffering these symptoms?

Take a copy of the article with you when you go for service. They need to run a SPECIAL diagnostic to decide whether you have this problem. Do not leave until they run the special diagnostic. The "overnight run" does not detect this problem.
If they confirm you have the problem, they will replace the graphics chip, which is part of the motherboard. be prepared to hand over your Mac for depot repair. (Your backups must be up-to-date).

It may be a range of different things, I am afraid.
You may try the list, unless someone comes up with something brighter.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:

5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);

6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

I have updated my iTunes to the newest version, 10-25 on a windows XP system. Now my java virtual machine is not working and I need it to run applet window. My Java is also newest version. What can I do to fix/repair my issue?

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Yes, when she plugs it in to another person's mac, tell it transfer purchases, then authorize the computer by going to store, and click authroize computer. If the iPod is in recovery mode
Then I don't think she can have her music apps etc. on there after she plugs it into the computer. If it just needs a charge
When iTunes opens on the computer, quit it, and do not let the iPod sync with the computer, just answer no or ignore to any questions asking if you want to sync.
