Skype app update

everytime i go into the skype app it says 'Time to get a new Skype app' then a download tab. When I click it it takes me to the app store but it says I already have the app. I can't get passed this screen...super annoying! any help?

Do you happen to be on Windows 8 (e.g. you have not upgraded yet to Windows 8.1)? In this case you might see the behaviour you described. I've been having some difficulty with my Skype app for my Iphone as it will show some of my contacts as online but they won't reply leading me to check on my laptop finding that they are not actually online like my phone says. I have faced a similar issue: While being on invisible status on my mac and wish to be the same on my i-phone (latest system update), it would put me automatically on online status! That I do not want, I always want to be on invisible status. Basically the latest Skype update does not synchronize my status. Please try to fix this bug.

Skype app doesn't open after 5.10 update

Pre-Installed Skype App doesn't auto update

It's not the desktop client, but its the preinstalled app. I usually would click on it and it would load skype (latest update0, but with this new update when I click Skype after clicking the windows button, it says that I need to update to the new skype that we're currently on. How do I fix this? I'm tired of having to come to the website, and re-download the Skype app, when I already have it pre-installed.

Unable to connect to Skype after update 6.22

Its my first post here so I hope you can help.
Skype has been working fine then today I updated to v6.22 and now I cant sign-in/connect.
I followed these instrctions from another post:
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
If you are on the latest Skype 6.5/6.6/6.7/6.9/6.10/6.11/6.13/6.14 version, then do also this:
Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
Unfortunately this didnt work so I uninstalled Skype completely then reinstalled with v6.22 but this time I get to the log in screen and there I'm stuck!

Tried doing this too but still cant log-in!
1. Open Run command (pressWin+R buttons) and in the window copy/paste:
%localAppData%\Skype\Apps\
and hit Enter. Location will be opened in File Explorer.
2. Delete everything from that folder.
3. Quit and restart Skype.
Skype login window should be displayed correctly allowing you to enter your Skype credentials.

Apps Update - Error Code 80048823

My Nokia 820 failed to update a Skype App, and produced an error code of 80048823.
I've checked the SD card for errors and found none. I've put a brand new SD Card
formatted on a Win 7 desktop PC into my phone but I'm still getting the same error.
Any idea's on how to fix the problem. ?

Nothing wrong with microsoft account,
I tried to download other Apps without success, so I was forced into doing a complete RESET. This fixed the problem.
I hated having to do it as I use Nokia Drive Beta for offline satelite navigation when touring around Europe in our motorhome and had most of the EU maps installed. When doing a phone backup even though it backs up the Apps it doesn't backup the maps, so I now have to reinstall every map MANUALLY.
In the ideal world Nokia could resolve this issue and back up maps as well as apps.

Skype App says 'Waiting' and does not Install

Tried to install Skype App on iPhone4. After more than 2 hours, the App icon still says "Waiting". I tried going back to the Apps icon but under Skype App, I am unable to deselect/reselect to install. How do I delete installation and try again?

It takes a while to get apps updated. Most of these developers do the same apps for other devices and it just takes a while. It's not an excuse, but just a reason.

Updating 85 existing apps - Is it possible to cancel one app update version?

Do not wish to continue update of current Skype version to version 4.0.1.1325 just downloaded with 84 other app updates.
Have not yet synched Touch ver. 10.6.1.7 (iOS 5.1.1) with iTunes/Library/apps.
Considered deleting the new version of Skype from iTunes, but the warning about losing the Touch version of Skype when the device was synched with iTunes is not the result acceptable.
Is it possible to still save the old Skype version on the Touch?
The new Skype version is supposed to be loaded with ads ...
Is the hard drive iTunes backup still containing the old Skype version?
If "Yes", can I import the old backup into iTunes, and then reupdate my apps without selecting the new version of Skype this time?

     Hi, have been fussing since my original post and your prompt reply/solution; but, there's still too much chicken here to commit ...
Is this clear about my objectives:
I have an old Skype version still on my 3rd. gen. Touch, and do not wish to upgrade the version to the newer, current version now available at the iTunes Store, and also I have already downloaded 85 update apps from the Store to iTunes for Windows.
Windows iTunes is waiting to install all 85 update apps, and I do not want the new Skype version with the ads.
My itunes computer is always authorized, and the auto sych device option is always disabled.
Are you saying, transfer the purchased apps from the device to itunes; and therefore the downloaded updates waiting in iTunes will be over-written by the older device apps copies/versions still on the device??
If this chicken explaination is correct, then would removing the synch checkmark in front of the left side of the newer Skype version icon; and the checkmark to the left of auto-synch New programs/apps and the synching to the device be the same result, except that the 84 app updates in itunes would be completed without a reloading of those apps to itunes minus the new version of Skype with the ads.
Would like to clean this up successfully before synching with a new 4th. gen. Touch, and a new iPhone.
I do appreciate your involvement towards a sharper image in my mind.

Change primary email address using the Skype app

I am automatically logged in to Skype on my iPad however I don't remember the password (it is saved automatically and every time I turn on my iPad it automatically logs me into skype)
The problem is I forgot the password. And I don't have access to the email address associated with the account.
How can I change my primary email address using the Skype app?

Was "View Voice Messages" removed from Skype App...

I am not a Skype expert so forgive me, but I thought that there was a link in the Skype app that let the user see all voicemails. And I see in the Voicemail support page that there is supposed to be a "View > Voicemail" link, but my desktop app has no such link.
Am I losing my mind?
What happened to this link?
Did Skype remove and fail to update its documentation?
If so, is the only way to retrieve voicemails on a contact-by-contact basis?

How to check subscription minutes on Skype app

Hello all,
I have the Skype app on both my Android and iPad and have recently signed up for a subscription for calls to Hong Kong with my skype account for 60 minutes per month.
Is there a way I can check how many minutes are left on my subscription on my app?
I see the remaining minutes on my Skype account on my internet browser, but I would like to check it on the app as it is far more convenient.

Depends on the App.
If it came from the App Store, then you would see any updates in the Updates section of App Store.
If you got it from somewhere else, it may have a Check for Updates command somewhere in the App. I've seen it in the Application menu, the Window menu, and in the help menu.
Or, you just have to monitor the developer's website or some place like MacUpdate.

Skype is updating whenever it feels like no matter...

Within the last few days, no matter what I do, Skype has been updating from version 6.2 to the latest version of 7.
Each time I've uninstalled Skype completely from my computer.
Ive deleted all Skype relevant files (excluding local chat history cache which I saved).
I've reinstalled version 6.2 from an old install file.
I've set the startup type for Skype Updater to disabled in administrative tools.
I've blocked apps.skype.com and g.msn.com in the internet security options.
I've turned off automatic updates in the skype advanced options.
I've deleted the update package (SkypeUpdate.exe) from the local appdata folder and replaced it with a dummy file.
1. How is Skype possibly updating?
2. Why does it do so with no indication to myself, no buttons to click to confirm, no process window popping up to evidence that it is starting, and only when the computer is off or asleep?
3. How can it be doing this when the computer isn't even off?
4. How is it overriding all of the decisions I've consciously made and settings I've set? Where in the user terms does it say that it can override the authority of the computer administrator wherever they go?
5. How do I stop this?
6. How is this acceptable in any way?

Updates weren't pushed if you ran a version above 6.11. Since that version was upgraded to 7.0 last week (7.3 is the latest), people have had the update applied. Updates can be hidden like this updated webcam driver is:

Windows 10 store: Skype app is ,,Get Skype'' and doesn't work. HELP PLS!

I have Windows 10 pro and it updated to Windows 10 Enterprise. I had Windows 7 ultimate and i upgraded from the .iso file. Now i have windows 10. When i open Windows Store and download Skype, the app i recieve when installed is not Skype, it's called GET SKYPE and when i click it it shows skype logo and then brings me to download page for desktop. But i already have it for desktop. I just want skype from windows store but when i download skype i get ,,get skype'' i dont get the skype app. omg help me... please

Same here,I did get Skype 3 times (each time deactivating the MSN option) and it would lead to installing skype. Only the tile never updated. I installed skype manually and now have a desktop link that is working, I just can't get it into Metro or whatever that is called in Win 10. FAIL.

Q10 skype app cuts out after approx 60sec

Just to be precise - does it disconnect you from Skype only or from Xbox Live entirely?
Also - does this situation happen specifically when you use Skype or it also happens when you use some other Xbox One apps?
