Skype business vs. personal number.

Hello, I recently purchased a Skype number and realize that I might have made a mistake. I would like to use Skype for both personal and business use but I would not like to have my Skype number displayed all of the time. Is there some way to switch between numbers? I have my mobile number set up and would prefer to use it as my caller ID for personal calls but use the Skype number for business calls. Is there some sort of different profile I could get? I would rather not create another account and I'm not sure if I can get a refund on the Skype number. In short, is there a different way of switching between numbers besides going into the caller ID settings every time? Something in the Windows client? Thanks, any help appreciated, Dave

IMHO. I think you need to determine if you would like a single method to fund Skype services to other Skype names you can create using the Business Manager as well as if you intend to share a Skype name with others.
Sadly, if you intend to share a Skype name, those that have the password for that Skype name, who maybe need it to answer calls from that Online Number, could change the password to that Skype name, if that Skype namecreated by the Business Manager was assigned the Online Number from the Business Manager in that case, the password can be easily reset.
That said. If that Skype name was not created by the Business Manager, an angry person having access to that Skype name and password, might change the password and then you maybe at their mercy to be able to answer calls from that "Online Number" assigned to that Skype name and/or access to other Skype services assigned to that Skype name. as well.
So, there are some security benefits as well as single source funding/payment benefits to consider one over the other based on what you might want and do now or in the future.

Just like in contact center setup.
We want to use 1 skype business number then when calls come in - they are forwarded to available
2-4 agents in our office.
So 1 skype number - forwards to different skype users in the office to answer.
Is there a feature we can pay for this?

Sign-up for Skype Manager, then setup a SIP Profile. Then get a IP-PBX or SIP server [I personally am using Brekeke Sip Server]
Then have each UA REGISTER to the SIP or IP-PBX server [UAS]. If your Skype DID is forwarded to SIP # and called, it should forward via routing to any extension once they register ip-phones.

Multiple skype accounts - business and personal.

I have used skype for quite some time now, and I have a personal account that I always use. However my company is requiring that I log in my business account from time to time and use the Skype Business client. Are there any major differences between the business and free client? Can I login my personal account from the business client?

No, the system isn't setup to let us do things like that...this question comes up very frequently and there just isn't a work-around.
Maybe you should try pinging Apple with feedback, especially from the enterprise side, and see if that helps.

Our company operates a citrix environment on 2008 64bit servers.
My manager has recently paid for Skype business but just want to understand a few aspects of it before going any further.
Does the skype business allow you to install unlimited clients in your organisation but you need to have a skype business account for each person logging in?
Also is there a difference with the quality of the connection, comparing free skype to business skype?
ALso I suppose it would be good to know if the free skype and business skype are supported in the environment described above.

There are no restrictions in the number of Skype clients you can use for normal or business releases. You can install Skype on systems that have no current Skype name assigned as well.

The basic differences are more control but they use the same methods when using the same version levels as far as services go.
ALso I suppose it would be good to know if the free skype and business skype are supported in the environment described above.

I have two online numbers one i use for home calls and one i want to use for Business, how do i get the answer phone or the redirect option to seperate the numbers?

I see you have 2 numbers. One is Personal and the other you want to use for Business. We are going to need more information or a senario on how you want to use them.
(Note: the Personal Number cannot be used in a Skype Business account).
1st: Is the Personal number within your Skype Personal account?
2nd: Is the Skype Business number in a Skype Connect or SIP profile?
3rd: What type of PBX or SIP device are you using?
If you have a SIP enabled phone, you could create 2 SIP profiles, Purchase 2 Channels, and target each one to 2 different lines on the multiline set.
If you have PBX, you could create 2 SIP profiles, purchase 2 Channels, and target each Channel to Trunks in the PBX to receive calls.

Skype Business - Is this scenario possible?

Good evening! I'm running a company based in Australia and I'm fairly new to telecommunications so I'd like to know a few things about Skype Business.
I'd like to know if this scenario is possible with Skype Business or any related information to this query.
I have a 1300-number (or a hotline) where anyone can just ring one or a universal number wherever they are in Australia. Now, let's say, a caller rings the 1300-number then that call would be transfered through Skype to be received by my virtual assistants overseas. So my virtual assistants only have to do is be online on Skype to be able to pick up any phone calls from Australia.

Using Skype - Business Version - How Many People c...

To whom it may concern,
I am thinking of signing up to the Skype Business Version, but am concerned that it will not be able to handle the number of people that we require on the conference call. We regularly require 12 people or more on a conference call, can you please advise if this is possible using Skype Business Version. Please can you also advise what the maximum number is.

Hi. I'm inquiring about a corporate Skype account for a business located in Beijing, China. I'm not literate enough in Chinese to understand skype.tom.com and the english version of that website is very limited.
1. What types of corporate Skype accounts are available in Beijing China for iOS (we do not use Windows)?
2. What are the pros/cons of each type of account?
3. What are the costs associated with each type of account?
4. What type of account would you recommend for a business located in Beijing that routinely makes calls to the US, Japan, and Europe? Would a different type of account be recommended depending on users - 10, 25, or 50 users?

Skype online numbers do not ring to different people. This might help you as I heard other people use this method. Try google voice one number rings all your numbers that are forwarded to it. The first one that picks up gets the call. If you are in the US the calls are free. I do not have this service, but have looked into it. It is something that you need to research. Hope this helps.

Group Video call limit for Skype Business

Hi there,Can anyone tell me what the maximum number of participants for a video call is in Skype Business?And also in Skype Primium? Many thanks!

If you go to your account, in the upper left hand corner of the page, under where it says Welcome, your-user-name, there should be a link "subscripton." Clicking on that link should take you to another page, Skype Premium settings, where is says Skype Premium is active.
If you don't have that, contact Customer Service through this link:

You won't be able to make group video calls until your account shows you have a Premium subscription active.

Skype account yearly telephone number charge

Hi,
On Dec 19, 2014 Skype charged me $30.00 for the yearly telephone number, on Dec 22, 2014 Skype charged me $30.05 stating it was for the yearly telephone number. I had PayPal reverse the charge of $30.00 for the Skype number and received an email from Skype stating that my number will expire in Dec 30, 2014. I go to my Skype account and it says that my telephone number has expired, so Skype what is up??? Are you trying to say that you’re yearly charge for a Skype telephone number is $60.05? It was my understanding from Skype that a Skype yearly telephone number was $30.00 per year, yet when I ask PayPal to return one of your charges of $30.00 your email to me and my account says it will be expiring soon, so what is going on????

Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

MOH and Media Bypass no longer working after Skype Business updates

Not using the Skype Business skin but still using the Lync Enterprise 2013 skin
1 - MOH still works ok with call park but not for basic Lync to Lync calls or Lync to PSTN calls. Basically I noticed that CsClientPolicy EnableClientMusicOnHold was now set to false instead of true and so I set it back to True and set the music file path
as per below. Now when I place a call on hold I hear the new soft swoosh sound for going on hold but I don't not hear any music. Under Options>Ringtones and Sounds I have the following file selected: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Application
Host\Applications\Conferencing Attendant\Media\Music\DefaultHold.wma which seems to work fine for call park but not basic call HOLD. Note: the Hold/Resume functionality/sip signalling works ok - any ideas?
2 - My current setup is with a Mitel MiVB PBX connected via a sip trunk (does not support TLS/SRTP and so it is disabled and using TCP/RTP) to Lync Enterprise 2013 with redundant mediation servers Ms-1 and Ms-2. I have Network Configuration > Global
> Enable media bypass and Always bypass selected and enabled, as well, under Voice Routing > Trunk Configuration > [Encryption support level = Not Supported / Refer = 3rd party / Enable media bypass = enabled / Centralized media processing =
enabled] ... after the update the media is not bypassing mediation servers anymore ... any ideas as to why?

MOH issue: Thx but i have tried many times without success, I even added and pointed to a new file magicHold.wma (BTW DefaultHold is a .wma file and not .wav) which I have set for both Call Park hold and basic call hold (i can see the file is selected
under the lync client options > Ringtones and Sounds > Play MOH + <.wma file path>. The magicHold.wma file is played ok during call park but for basic call there is still still NO MOH regardless of which file I select for basic call MOH
- I have restarted my VM-Front End server box without any chnage - is there anything else that could possibly be affecting this? Also when I capture the RTP on the mediation server I don't see any MOH RTP being sent from Lync to PSTN when on hold. Please advise

Separate business and personal contacts/calendar on Exchange enabled phone?

I'm a new iPhone user (3gsi) with Exchange support enabled. What I would like to do is manage my business and personal contacts and calendar separately with work items syncing with Exchange and personal items with something else (like Google Calendar/Contacts). Is it possible to separate this way and possibly even manage it all together using the existing calendar and contact apps? I am not interested in the MobileMe service.
Example - I add a personal contact and I dont want it to sync with Exchange, but Google contacts would be nice. Or I add a calendar item that I want to sync with Google calendar instead of Exchange.

You can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately on the iPhone.
With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007. With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book and iCal.
Or you can sync personal contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account while doing the same for business contacts and calendar events with an Exchange account.
You can access a Gmail account as an Exchange account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client, which provides for syncing personal contacts and calendar events over the air, but you can't access two Exchange accounts via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client. I have a MS Exchange account at work and use Entourage for my personal contacts on my home computer.
Would it be possible to have both sets of info sync to my phone? I know the iphone has active sync for the Exchange data but then, would it be possible to sync with my home computer without having them then uploaded to my company's exchange server next time activesync connects?
I imagine a lot of people would want to do something like this??
