Skype can't detect sound card, issue with playback...

Hello
I have just received my Razer kraken 7.1 headset and have installed razer synapse 2.0. I have set up my mic and speakers of the headset through the control panel, my playback is set as the razer kraken 7.1 earphone and the mic is set as the headset microphone through the recording tab. When I launch skype there is no sound produce through the application, however with previous headsets there has been, I have tried going on youtube to see if sound comes through the headset and it does. Previously I have been using a turtle beach z11 which used 3.5mm jacks in to the computer however this new headset is usb operated. When skype opens and I try to call someone it says problem with playback device meaning I can't call anyone at all. However when checking call quality it says everything is working fine even though it isn't.
So far I have tried re-installing skype and restarting my pc none of this has worked so far, I know this isn't likely a fault with the headset as it works with all other programmes I have tried.
I am using a custom built pc with
OS: WIN7 64 BIT Home Premium
GPU: AMD HD7950
CPU: i5-3550
RAM: 8gb 1333mhz
Motherboard: Asus p67 series
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 audio
Any help with my problems would be much appreciated.
-Thanks
George Snell

@gsnell, Please setup your audio device directly in Skype and not only in the windows playback/record interface.
Also, please try to quit synapse 2.0 since it may interfere with Skype.
Also please try with the latest 6.13 version
www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-windows/downloading/
if nothing helps, Can you please provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
Thank you

  • Skype can't detect sound card

    Skype was working just fine previously when making a video call (could hear the other person well - no problems.) Then I stopped using the monitor stereo speakers and installed desktop speakers.
    Wasn't happy with them and uninstalled them about a day or two later. When I tried to make a video call again (after choosing monitor speakers again under the pc control panel - sounds and audio devices, also tried to choose monitor stereo speakers in Skype but didn't see this option) - there was no sound - even on the Skype test.
    So I tried "check settings" and saw under speaker - "can't detect your sound card". Under adjust speaker settings there's no speaker suggestions at all - it just says none.
    I also cancelled the speaker setting on SoundMAX digital integrated audio under the control panel.
    I have rebooted the system but still the same problem!

    I'v sorted out the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Sound Card Issues with Macromedia Flash

    I'm having issues with a clicking sound on some of the areas of my audio when I export to a quicktime file from Flash. After extensive research, I found at least one forum post addressing the issue saying that it could be that the Crystal Semiconductor CX84xx sound card that came with my G5 could need updated drivers. So far I've only been able to find an update for Windows Crystal Semiconducter, which makes me think that maybe there aren't any updates for this particular sound card for Mac?
    I guess my question is, am I on the right track, and if there are updates for this sound card where would I be able to find them?
    Thanks,
    Jay

    In particular, please see this bug report: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3289908
    With 11.2, do you ever get proper surround decoding?  If so, can you point me to content that I can hear?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Mac Pro USB port can't detect SD card reader.

    My new macpro ( 2014) can't detect SD card reader with all 4 USB port ! I try to test with macbook Pro it's work properly ! What wrong with my USB port ?

    This is too obvious, but neverthelees:
    Have you checked that the card works on another computer?
    Does a different USB or FW device work on the same computer port?
    Is there a card actually in the reader?

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

    I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
    Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
    I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
    When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:

    (Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
    So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
    I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
    I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
    Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

    Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
    The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
    Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

  • Skype can't detect any webcam

    Hi, Since I updated the newer version of skype 6.11, my video does not work anymore. When I go under options, I get the message, "skype can't detect any webcam". I have a built-in camera in my laptop using windows 7. I know my camera works, but I don't know how to make skype detect my built-in camera. So far, I can call people, I see and hear them and they can hear me, but they can't see me since I don't even have the options to put on my camera anymore. Please, can anyone help me with this issue? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled skype, but it does not work. Thank you

    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program.                       Hi , I suhail khan from india and i am user of iMac system 10,1.These days i am facing the sound enabling issue with my iMac system I am not able to hear sound in my iMac system. So kindly suggest me how to enable sound in my iMac . Please no the needful.

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. If you've recently plugged anything into the audio-out (headphone) port, plug and unplug it a couple of times.
    2. From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Sound ▹ Output
    Check the settings. The internal speakers should be selected as the output device, the Mute box should not be checked, and the volume slider should be at least halfway to the right.
    3. Look inside the headphone port. If a red light is coming from the port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a headphone mini-stereo jack of the proper size.Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
    4. Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. It will take much longer than usual. You don't have to log in; just reboot as usual (without holding any keys) when the login screen appears. (Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.)
    5. Reset the NVRAM.
    6. Reset the SMC.
    7. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data as a precaution. You won't need your backup unless something goes wrong.
    8. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
    Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
    *An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Can not detect wireless card

    WRE54G / Win XP SR2
    My laptop and PDA can connect to the network wirelessly with no problems.
    Trying to connect my WRE54G to my network. On every attempt at AutoConfigure nothing happens. Have disabled router security and 'SPI Firewall' (whatever that is). Still nothing. Have disabled router security and 'SPI Firewall' (whatever that is), and McAfee Firewall. Still nothing. I have moved the WRE54G to within ~4 feet of the router and tried everything again. Still nothing.
    I have tried Setup but when I hit 'Next' I get the popup "Can not detect wireless card."
    Have tried a reset and have unplugged/replugged the WRE54G. FWIW, the WRE54G 'Link' light blinks blue once for about a second and turns a constant red. The 'Activity' light blinks blue twice quickly about every 5 seconds. Nothing on my PC shows any response.
    What is the wireless card that can't be found? The WRE54G?
    How do I resolve this?
    33#44

    this worked for me too.  Although I was never able to use the cisco install wizard successfully.  I am using WEP security on my access point.  I took the following steps.
    1.  From laptop, connect to network wirelessly with WEP security settings in place
    2.  From laptop, open browser, go to: 192.168.1.1, select wireless security, disable wireless security
    3.  From Range Extender, hold auto-configure button.  It took me multiple attempts (~5) and it connected so the 'Link' light changed from red to a consistent blue.
    4.  From laptop, disable security for the access point (via control panel, wireless network connection settings)
    5.  From laptop, connect to wireless access point (via control panel, wireless network connection settings).  test internet connection.  Internet should work.
    6.  From laptop, access range extender web utility.  open browser, got to 192.168.1.240, enable security, input desired WEP security settings/passphrase.
    7.  From laptop, enable wireless security for the access point.  from browser, go to 192.168.1.1, select wireless security and enable it.  use the same settings from step 6 (from the range extender).
    8.  From laptop, update wireless adapter settings to connect using the same security settings (eg. passphrase) from step 6/7.
    range extender, access point and wireless adapter/laptop should all be connected.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Second can't detect Sim card

    Hi All
    I just bought a Blackberry Z10, secondhand from people I met from Internet
    The Blackberry is still kinda new, used only for a month. And I got it pretty much cheaper
    But the problem is, this Z10 can't detect sim card (yes the previous owner been telling about this before. She said its happened after she's upgrading the software)
    So, I bought it, and re-installed the software (10,2 - 10,3 - even back to 10,1) still not working.
    I'm trying to search the similar issues on Google, and found that it possibly because the simcard reader is broken
    I check the simcard reader, I'm not really sure, but yes, seems there one pins missing on there. I saw only 3 pins on my Z10 simcard reader. Haven't seen any other Z10. Would you mind to check your Z10? How many pins on there?
    And also, does the warranty will cover this issues if I claim it? I mean, it seems because human-error (previous owner might put the sim card not really carefully).
    If not, how much it cost to fix it and change the simcard reader part? Well think I'm not gonna gambling anymore to buy a cheap gadget in the hope I can't fix it by myself
    Thank you for help!

    Hi Aliarroughi
    Z10 I have a 3 sim card reader. there seems to be damage to your z10 sim card reader. try to correct the sim card reader price only $ 25

  • MSI 965 Platinium sound card issue

    Hi folks,
    Does anybody have any clue how to convert the sound card into pure stereo one. I have a set of Logitech speakers model X-230 (left, right and the subwoofer). From the sound card driver I can pick whether I want to use a headset, 2 channel speakers, 4 channel etc. However in either of these setting the two speakers tend too be supplied with just the "surroud effect" signal so when watching movies or playing music, vocals are really flat and  indistinguishable. Tis really pi..es me off. The speakers sound fantastic on my wifes laptop on stereo output! And I just can not make the sound card working with an output of pure stereo signal. In the past I had Gigabyte mainboard and could switch between stereo and 5.1 system activating/dis activating/disactivating specific outputs. This does not seem the case for P965 unfortunatelly.
    Any clues how to fix it? Cheers lads.

    Yes, I can change the setting in the panel, but does not change the type of the output signal. The vocal part is somewhat buried/flat. This is particularly annoying when watching movies.

  • FMLE 3.2 and 3.1 can't detect an audio device with Windows 8.1

    FMLE 3.2 and 3.1 can't detect an audio device with Windows 8.1 x64 on an MSI GT72-2QD laptop. I tried 2 different webcams but the result was the same. Both the internal mic and the ones going with the webcams work fine with other software but when I try FMLE it looks as follows:
    It says that there's no audio device connected (although the mics work fine elsewhere), the dropout is blank and the audio parameters are grayed out and inactive even with the "audio" box checked. Both versions of FMLE work fine with the same cams on a desktop which has all the same tech specs but uses Win 7 x64. Running FMLE in Win7 compatibility mode or reinstalling with register cleaning doesn't help. What can be done about it?

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for the advice. It succeeded.
    The steps I made was to make a disk copy of my original Windows XP disk using Disk Utilty. Then I renamed the disk copy into .iso. I copied the ISO file to my usb flash drive.
    Than I started Parallels 7, created a new VM, selected the correct drive to install from (the usb flash drive) and volia, it worked.

  • [Solved] Sound Card Issue

    I have been trying to set my default sound card as a usb headset that I got a while back before I started using arch linux. I have checked the wiki, the audactiy wiki, and a few other sources to get everything started. When I first configure everything using the guides, everything works well. However, upon reboot, the order of my soundcards change. There was a guide on the archwiki on how to set a defined sound card order, but I cannot find a way to acertain the snd_mia,snd_hda_intel equivalents to my sound card.
    =======================================
    cat /proc/asound/cards yeilds
    0 [SB             ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
                          HDA ATI SB at 0xfeaf4000 irq 16
    1 [HDMI           ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI
                          HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfebf8000 irq 43
    2 [P780           ]: USB-Audio - Plantronics GameCom 780
                          Plantronics Plantronics GameCom 780 at usb-0000:00:12.0-3,
    =============================================
    However the order of these changes when I apply
    =====================================
    cm.!default {
             type asym
             playback.pcm {
                     type plug
                     slave.pcm "hw:2,0"
             capture.pcm {
                     type plug
                     slave.pcm "hw:2,0"
    =========================================
    to ~/.asoundrc in order to set my playback and capture device as my headset. Again, it works at first, but then the sound card order changes upon reboot. I understand that one can define the sound card order by editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and then applying (only changing snd_mia,snd_hda_intel to the sound cards of your computer)
    =========================================
    options snd slots=snd_mia,snd_hda_intel
    options snd_mia index=0
    options snd_hda_intel index=1
    ================================================
    So I am merely asking how one would go about finding and defining the equivalents of snd_mia,snd_hda_intel for ones own sound cards, and then proceeding to set the default order using the method that the archwiki provided.

    Use [_code_][_/code_] tags without the underscores to mark output of commands. Snd_mia and so on are modules. Look at the wiki again, search for lsmod. It is explained there. You could use that alsa configuration by using card names as references instead of numbers, which is also explained at the wiki, but I recommend sticking to modprobe approach. Read the whole chapter about setting the default sound card. It is explained step by step how to acquire vid and pid and use them. Your modules should be snd_hda_intel and snd_usb_audio from the looks of it.
    It is supposed to be pcm.!default not cm.!default, you probably missed the 'p' when copying.
    I did a quick page through the wiki on lsmod, and I set up the modprobe file. I also fixed the snippet of code that I added, and now everything works like a charm. Thanks for the help, and I hope you have a wonderful evening.

  • HT6030 Sound output issue with Mavericks

    There is a sound output issue with Mavericks and Firewire800 Audio devices. I am using a MIO 2882 but now people are having issues with other devices as well. Is this something that will be addressed in an update? If not I will need to downgrade my OS.

    or maybe thats the brand you have ad luck with. i remember when i use to get some quantom fireball drives, and they just died on me the next week. im down to two and keeping a good eye on them. especially fujitsu. the only ones i have GREAT LUCK with are Seagate and Western digitals drives.

  • Can't archive SD card shot with Sony RX10 in FCPX 10.1.0. Card from EX1r archives without issue.

    I can't archive an SD card shot with Sony RX10 in FCPX 10.1.0. Card from EX1r archives without issue.  Anyone have a solution?
    Thank you.

    Hey Tom.
    The RX10 shoots, after the ver. 2.00 firmware upgrade, XAVC S 50MB footage.  I can import the mp4 footage from the card via MP4Root folder and I can drag it off the card to a hard rive and import from there as well.  There was a plug-in from Sony to be able to import XAVC footage (PD2K-LT2.dmg) that I installed to get FCPX to recognize the footage.  The language in the plug-in, however, seems to only discuss XDCAM, which I was able to do with the EX1R several FCPX versions ago. That being said, import works so I'm mostly there. The archive is such a great feature, it would be nice to be able to use it for this camera.

  • [solved] Pulseaudio doesn't detect sound card after system update

    Before a recent system update I had pulseaudio working flawlessly, but after doing a recent system update with pacman -Syu,
    pulseaudio no longer sees my sound card and only displays the Dummy audio device.  Among the packages updated that I can
    remember off the top of my head are the Linux keneral, udev, kmod, instead of trying to roll back my system I figured I would try
    to fix the issue.  The only thing suggested in the Pulseaudio wiki is that a asound.conf directory is overriding the /etc/asound.conf
    file which is not the case on my system.
    Looking at the output from lsmod I can see where the kernel modules for the sound card is getting loaded
    snd_hda_intel 23375 0
    snd_hda_codec 89160 3 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_codec_hdmi

    snd_page_alloc 7153 2 snd_pcm,snd_hda_intel
    snd_timer 19544 1 snd_pcm
    and looking at the output from the ps command I can see that pulseaudio is getting started

    Digging into this further aplay -L gives different output based off of whether or not I ran is as my normal user or with sudo/as root.
    As a user (which is how pulseaudio is also being ran):
    > aplay -L
    null
    Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
    pulse
    PulseAudio Sound Server
    default
    Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)
    as root it does see both my sound cards when I run it with sudo or as root:
    > sudo aplay -L
