"Skype cannot connect"

Hi there, I'm reverting to an older version of the skype client due to the fact that the ability to block people in group conversations was removed, along with conversation topic pictures.
I have an offline installer for the version of the client that I need, but despite uninstalling the up to date, but heavily downgraded version, all my settings seem to stick when I try to install the version I need.
I suspect this is why I can't sign into the skype servers, and I can't help but notice that the support page, which has EXACTLY the information I need, is down, and has been for several days.
As such, can anyone here tell me how to totally wipe Skype off of my system? I want it gone, nuked, vaporised, blasted to smithreens, I want nothing left so I can re-install my chosen version.
I'd be unspeakably grateful for any help.

Okay, slight digression, but why in the name of all that's bloody holy was this removed, that's like selling a car after smashing the windows and scoring the paintwork. What the fu - Why would you do that?
What do you possibly gain from removing important features?
So, just to clarify, there's no way I can have a working version that allows me to block people in group convos without some kind of third party thing?

Not known any alternatives yet. Goolge+ has some sort of function for real time videocalls, which runs on browser, without need to install anything on the background. But it's not same as Skype and it doesn't support wireless handsets.
I think there's a lack of fast working instant messenger for now. Some skilled programmers could create new P2P instant messenger to replace Skype.
Here's some ideas for it (anyone can feel free to use them):
- Open source
- Written in C or some other goor programming language that creates native code, and can be ported to any platform. Native code means, that it will run FAST, with minimum amount of memory needed to do things (that's 100% opposite of the principle of current Skype versions).
- De-centralized P2P network architecture which is not owned by anyone and which cannot be sold to Microsoft or other companies (which will just spoil the product, like happened with Skype). Little bit like Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, which do not have any "central" organization behind them and the product kind of "lives" in the network, when each node will help to keep it living.
- End-to-end encryption of all communications, with traffic routing thru many nodes (just like tor nework). No goverment / NSA backdoors included.
Let's hope that we will see something like this in some day...

Skype cannot connect on Desktop only

Hi all,
The skype on my laptop worked for a period of time and currently when i started to go back to skype on my laptop, it keep showing the alert for "Skype can't connect". After reading some posts here, I can't troubleshoot my issue. Please advise.

Skype Cannot Connect Issues?

since updating to the 6.2 skype, im unable to use skype,
after i sign in, it appears as it would be signing in, but this loading screen takes alot longer then usual, (around 1/2 minutes) then it would cancel my sign in with the comment ( ! Skype can't connect)
before updating skype, it was working fine,
to try to fix this I have done all the following:
restart/shutdown, given time just incase it was maintence problem
reinstalled/uninstalled
(would of downloaded a previous version but they have discontinued them) so this is a no
deleted share.xml file
changed advanced connection options
all these are done, and not a change in where the "skype can't connect" is different

In case you have leftover proxy/policy settings for Skype in you registry you can run this to purge them. I would recommend exiting Skype completely, running the program then restarting Skype. All this program does is delete the registry keys then immediately exits.

I cannot connect any skype accounts on my Eurostar...

Hello. I have tried for a number of days now to connect 'preloaded' skype on my Eurostar Smart TV. I have used my existing account details and also tried with my Microsoft account, but no joy. I have also tried to create a new skype account on my tv.
All these things respond with the message 'cannot connect to skype at this time, please check your mobile settings and try again'.
I am connected to my wireless router and have a good internet connection.
Can anyone help? This TV was bought for my kids playroom so they can skype their grandparents as we live a long way from home.

Bizarre!! Since when has a Mac worked better in Parallels than in OSX??
Parallels works connecting to internet and email accounts but all my accounts and info/ bookmarks are in mail/ Safari.
Skype works on the mac via airport. Nothing else works via airport or LAN. I am in Singapore and traveling all over. It started playing up a few days ago.....Please Help!

URGENT HELP PLEASE! I CANNOT ACCESS SKYPE
Since yesterday 22 April 2014 - I am getting the same error message.
the skype help connection wizard gives 2 options:
1. contact network administration;
2. restart skype wait 2 minutes for it to reconnect automatically.
This I have done dozens of times and it doesnt happen. I am still without skype connection and have money invested in their account.
My question: is there anyone I can contact by mail, phone, at SKYPE ADMINISTRATION to solve this problem soon? I need to contact my handicapped son everyday through Skype we live in different countries, he needs my help daily.
I don´t know what else to do or who to ask for help.

Be aware that if you want to install the currently latest 7.0.0.102 version, then you should use SkypeSetup_7.0.0.102.msi file in order to extract Skype.exe and Login.cab files.
SkypeSetup_7.0.0.102.msi file can be downloaded using this link:

Note that should not run the SkypeSetup_7.0.0.102.msi but save this file to a folder on your computer.
Using Lessmsi application you should extract Skype.exe and Login.cab files from this saved msi-file and then paste these 2 files to Skype installation folder.

I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on. Have you tried Skype? Did you talk to the hotel staff? On March 31, we starting experiencing this issue across our entire domain. We have not made any changes to our network configuration. We are using the same ISP, routing hardware, computer hardware, software versions and group policy settings as we were on March
30.
The issue appears to be related to network connectivity.
Here is what I have found so far:
We have three networks in our building and two ISPs.
Network-A uses ISP-A and is affected by the issue. Network-A is our corporate domain.
Network-B uses ISP-B and is affected by the issue.
Network-C uses ISP-B and is not affected by the issue.
If I take a Network-A domain member and launch PowerPoint while connected to Network-A and ISP-A I am unable to upload PowerPoint presentations.
If I connect the same computer to Network-C, the issue persists.
If I close PowerPoint, connect to Network-C, and reopen PowerPoint while connected to Network-C, I am able to upload presentations.
A non-domain computer is affected by the issue if PowerPoint is opened while connected to Network-A or Network-B, but unaffected if PowerPoint is launched while connected to Network-C. Again, in this scenario, switching connections while PowerPoint is open
has no effect.
The issue appears to be caused during PowerPoint start-up and not while attempting to share a document.
Microsoft is either unwilling or unable to find a resolution and has finally resorted to simply ignoring my calls, voicemails, emails, and ticket requests regarding this issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The problem seems to have fixed itself, the computer may just have needed to be restarted.

Do you use Skype or some other messenger? Can any of them connect properly?
I dont know what the real problem is. Non working Internet explorer or WLAN connection in general?

Cannot connect to a Customer Service

I cannot connect with a customer service. I am being charged today for calls I could not connect so 8 minutes of my subscription are gone because of technical issues. Am trying for over an hour to talk to someone via chat but to no avail. I filled 3 times all information and it says wait for the chat to start and nothing happens. This is beyond redicilous. I do not have time to stay here and solve nothing.
I came back to skype after many years in order to use the phone service but made a huge mistake. This is really bad. Wil go back to gmail voice.

Please follow the instructions to contact Skype customer service. When you reach the point to start th chat don't miss to click on the green "Start chat" button. Only then a new browser window with the chat is being opened. If that's not the case please check the popup blocker settings of your browser to allow those popups.

Cannot connect the call

Hello - I'm subscribed to skype to go and have been making calls for a few days without problems. All of a sudden i cannot connect any calls since last night. What should I do??

Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8. I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail. Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail. I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline. In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline. No problem receiving mail. Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
Temporarily disabled firewall
Re-installed Mac app
Rebuilt mailbox
Repaired disk permissions
Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone. So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right? Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app. I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send. I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success. Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem. As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work. So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.
