Skype Community Ranking System

I recieved a message that I had a new "rank" within the community. What does this mean? Would appreciate someone explaining it to me. Thanks. BOB
RLB

Hi Bob,
We've set up community ranks here on the Skype Community that reflect a users participation through messages and recognition via "Kudos" through others. The rank names should you better determine the level of proficiency and expertise of other community users you are interacting with.
Thanks for your feedback here, let me get some explanation added to those "rank up notification" emails.

  • Introducing the Skype Community

    Welcome to the Skype Community
After being in the air since early 2004 as Skype's Forum, since April 2008 as Skype's Community and now as the Skype Community it is about time to introduce the people with badges and those without who you see posting regularly. But first a little explanation of what this community does.
The Skype Community is a place where Skype users can go for their Skype related question which they can discuss with other users. It can be any question from “How do I answer a Skype Call” to more technical ones. The purpose of this is to unite users in their Skype interests, to give users a chance to help others where they have a bigger knowledge and / or experience with Skype.
Every day thousands of users sign on to Skype for the very first time. Although there is a comprehensive, ever growing Knowledgebase there will be questions left which can be discussed in the Skype Community with users who have a huge experience in using Skype as their communication tool.
The variety of users browsing and replying to topics is enormous. From private users who only use Skype to keep in touch with friends and loved ones to Business users and beta testers. Especially beta testers are valuable. They seem to be born (or programmed over time ) to find and report bugs to help them getting resolved.
Other experienced users are those with a Community Amassador and Moderator badges and then the Skype Staff with the Skype logo next to their name. Next to the Skype related areas we also have a more casual and relaxed area called “Skype Lounge” where you are invited to talk about every day’s life, hobbies and interests and where you can chat with likeminded users who might even become good friends!
So, who is who in this Skype Community?
I start with the valuable user. Every user logged on for the very first time and most likely to find help. No doubt the user came to the right place because help is available here in large quantities. Because the Moderators monitor all topics, active users become visible and not seldom we agree that by the consistent help given, such a user deserves the Community Ambassador badge. This is a little award for life and will always express our appreciation. Our Community Ambassadors are involved in a Skype group chat with Moderators for questions, discussions and help. They are not left on their own but have our and each other's full support.
Sometimes Community Ambassadors are asked to join the Moderator team. Moderators receive the tools to moderate (work with) the community. This means they can edit, move and if necessary, delete posts (like spam). They guide users, advise them to submit a Support Ticket when necessary and help them to maintain the Community Guidelines. They also reply to posts.
Because the Skype Community is not an official support channel like Skype Customer Service Ticket System (who would like to see their account / payment details exposed on a public forum? The ticket system guarantees total privacy) Moderators can help the users who, for what ever reason, did not receive the right help via tickets. The preferable help tool is public posts so others with similar issues can find a solution. More private information is exchanged via PM (Private Message).
Moderators signed an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) with Skype and have access to Skype staff to report and discuss specific problems. This way you are in safe hands.
Both Community Ambassadors and Moderators are although experienced Skype users, people like you and me. Some have full time jobs, others part time or are retired. All have in common that they like to use Skype, like to help out and are volunteers. They are present in the Skype Community in their spare time. Therefore some can spend more time helping out than others. They are located in different parts of the world, speak different languages. This way they cover 24 hours. Moderators participate in a group chat with the Admins to discuss what is going on in the community, support each other and get help when necessary.
Our admins are staff members. They handle the more advanced community tools. Together they are responsible for the whole community. The main community administration is done by yours truly as Community Manager. One of my pleasant tasks is to weekly report to my colleagues to keep them updated about what is going on in the Skype Community: what keeps users busy, their feature requests, problems and positive feedback for all platforms, subscriptions, payments and about all soft- and hardware.
We do not just operate in the background. We participate actively by reading and posting. We feel a huge responsibility for users, Community Ambassadors and Moderators for whom we also feel a great respect and pride.
Non Admin Staff members work behind the scenes and in any department within Skype. Their main goal is to improve Skype for the users. Not to maintain or develop the Skype Community. They are real and very nice people who do not hesitate to post in the Skype Community where a reply from staff is appreciated.
Not seldom community members grow from User, to Community Ambassadors, to Moderator/Beta Tester to Staff Member. (Maybe here is a little career for you )
I hope that above helps you to understand the Skype Community and to value the special and dedicated help of the volunteers. They deserve a thumbs up

    The Community Guidelines also state:

So, if your post contains personal information, and you wish to have it removed, then you may notify the moderation team by clicking on the "Options" menu at the top right of your post and selecting "Report Inappropriate Content". When reporting your post, please include a message explaining that you have violated the Community Guidelines by posting your personal information, and that you would like to have that information removed.
We hope that you will all continue to make safe and appropriate contributions to the Skype Community!

  • I want to remove what Skype identifies as "Tell you friends what you are feeling . . . ."  One person on the Skype community said I could rename a file, but he thought I was on a PC.  I am using OS10.7.4, and Skype is functioning OK.

One person on the Skype community suggested:
    Re: disable mood history
    17-09-2011   02:04
Actually it is possible to delete your own mood message updates but it requires an unsupported ”fix”.
You need to delete the keyval.db database file. In order to be on the safe side, it’s best just to rename this file, so you can always get it back if something went wrong.
You can find this file by entering %appdata%\skype in the Start Run/Search box. This will open the Skype User folder. Locate there the folder with your Skype Account name and the keyval.db file will be there. You must stop Skype from running on your computer before deleting/renaming this file. Next time you start Skype a new version of this file will be recreated and all mood message updates will be removed from the home page.
However, this guy didn't know I was on a Mac.  I phoned Apple to see if they could show me how to get into the Skype file apparently on my computer, and they couldn't find it.
Anyone out there have any ideas?  It doesn't seem as if I have any Skype files on my computer.  If I need to make file changes via "the terminal," can someone tell me how to do this?
    Gretchen

    Hello,
I had the same problem with finding this file.
There's no such file in Mac OS X version of Skype. But there's a directory for your Skype user account in /Users/%current_user_name%/Library/Application Support/Skype/
    try:
    quitting Skype
    renaming old folder
    signing into the Skype

  • 403 Error during communication with System Landscape Directory from RWB

    Hi,
I've got a new install of PI (XI 7.0) SPS 10 and am getting an error whenever I try to access the SLD from RWB or Integration Builder.  The SLD is running on the same server as XI.
I've been through the various config guides (strangely there doesnt seem to be one specifically for PI/XI 7.0),  to configure RFC destinations, checked users are not locked etc.
I'm thinking it's probably a VA / Authorisations issue, but could use some ideas!
Here's a few errors just for reference (and future people searching!)
    <i>
Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)
Unable to read XI domain from the SLD. Monitoring cannot therefore be configured. Error message: com.sap.aii.rwb.exceptions.BuildLandscapeException: Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)
No System Landscape Directory exists. Unable to generate the landscape
Unable to read software component versions from System Landscape Directory "my.server:51400" (have tried 8014 also)

  • Bring back the community feel to 'Skype Community'...

My suggestion for this 'community' - bring back the community feel.
I've not been on the forums for some years now, so I'm probably just out of touch with what the skype forums are about these days. Anyway, I get the impression that although the forums were renamed to be 'community', the content seems to discourage a community feel.
    consider http://community.skype.com/t5/Translations/From-India/m-p/2638631/highlight/true#M719
"The Skype Community does not support friendship requests."
under the old skype forums, I remember many people used to post introductions to themselves and some such users included people who later went on to become skype moderators \ influential members of the skype community.
it's possible that the OP should have been advised to post more content \ a little more about themself, but to say that the community does not support friendship requests seems a bit of a contradiction.
I personally don't post 'friend requests' here or on any other forums, but when socialising it's natural to see people introducing themselves especially when they are integrating into a new community....
The old skype versions had a 'meet me' feature. this was suspended as it created more problems than anyone expected... too many idiots being idiots because it was a one-to-one exchange. however I believe that the old forums had a 'coffee corner' where people did introduce themselves and it was encouraged. perhaps this 'community' needs such a section to truly be a community. it doesn't seem sensible to be stating that skype does not support friendship requests....

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that joining and building online communities also is fostered by the option to share details about yourself. Just like with the "Skype Me" status feature from the Skype application this requires a high amount of moderation, especially because of the "idiots" you are mentioning. We still have a "Skype lounge" here on the Skype Community were open discussions (that aren't contact requests) are welcome. Please join us there.

  • Skype Community Name

    Hello Admin
My Skype Comunity name is "Skyp3" as you see all while I post . But I really want to change my Skype Community Nick. Kindly guide me how can I change my Name in the Comunity while I post my postings.
    Kindly Help. Thanks in advance.

    Dear Skype3,
Unless a security or other serious need has arisen and can be explained, like a Skype Account name, your Community account "nick name" cannot be changed for convenience.  I realize this sounds rather harsh; is not intended to sound that way.  Before you accrue a large number of posts, consider starting a new Community account with a nick name you prefer -- if it is available!
    Kind regards,
    Elaine

  • Skype Community Account

Are you able to close or deactivate your skype community account? I no longer wish to take part with the community.

There is no account deletion option on this community.
I recommend simply removing all your email subscriptions here: http://community.skype.com/t5/user/myprofilepage/tab/user-subscriptions%3Aemail-subscriptions
...and then you can stay away from the community.

  • Skype Community member sent me a scam email

I'm not sure if some of you have experienced this before, but someone on Skype Community sent me a private message, saying they wanted to be friends, but to contact them with their email address for 'network and personal reason'. I presumed it slightly suspicious, but I used my secondary email address and emailed the person to see what happened.
They seemed nice at first, but then after I replied, they came back with an email asking for money and all that stuff. So after that, I went and ignored the person on my Skype Community list.
Is there a way we report Skype Community members about scam and all that? And maybe ban them? O_o
If you know, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hi, Fire4564,
Yes, the Moderation Team is aware of this issue.  Thank you for alerting the Community!  You may report the community member account name, and the text of the message if you wish, by copying and pasting, and sending a private message to a moderator.
Your post reads like so many others where scammers attempt to contact people via contact requests, e-mail, FaceBook, and so on.  The advice is the same: if you feel endangered, are harrassed, or threatened with blackmail, report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.  If needed, the authorities will contact Skype directly via official channels.
For those reading, please note: the Moderation Team is unable to lend assistance to requests for help sent via private message!  Please send messages to the Moderation Team by request only, such as in this instance.  Please post your questions on the Community message board best suited to the item you need assistance with.  Thank you for understanding!
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Skype Community Username Change

    Dear Skype Team,
Can some one guide me if it is possible to change the username of Skype community?

Hi, Deepaknet, and welcome to the Community,
As a gentle reminder ... from the About the Community page ...
    To register:
Click the Register link at the top of any page.
    Enter a Login name.
This is your screen name in the community. It appears whenever you post or send private messages.
Tip:Most people create anonymous names for the sake of privacy and to help them feel more comfortable participating. Be creative, have fun with it, but choose carefully: you cannot change your login once registration is complete.
If there is a truly necessary or required reason for a community account name to be changed, a request would need to be filed via private message to a member of the Skype Support Network Moderation Team for consideration.
    Thank you for understanding!
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Skype Community needs a search feature

Skype community has always been about discovering new friends or similiar ideas.I think it would be a lot easier if we can add a search feature to find people around our age or trying to learn a similiar language etc.It would make skype community a lot easier to navigate.

    Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. A user search using some profile information (language preference, location) is definitely a great feature to build a social network. But such a feature needs to be closely monitored so it's not being abused either for spamming or harassment. Right now we are focussing ressources on maintaining and enhancing a great place for discussions around everything Skype. I'm confident that you will find that during these discussions you will find other community users with shared interests that you can exchange contact details with via private messages.

  • Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response c

    Dear all,
I have redirected a SLD to our Q system. Everything in the Repository is working fine. What did I do:
    - Adjusted settings in SLDAPICUST
    - Adjusted SAPSLDAPI
    - Adjusted LCRSAPRFC
    - Adjusted the following values in the Exchange Profile:
    com.sap.aii.connect.cr.httpport
    com.sap.aii.connect.cr.name
    com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.httpport
    com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.name
    So, SLDCHECK works fine.
The Repository sees the right SLD.
However, in the Directory I cannot choose an Adapter Engine (leaves blank) in my comm. channel.
Then I went to the RWB and got the following message:
<b>Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 Forbidden</b>
Where can I change something to make this work? Is this a user verification problem?
Thanks in advance for your input.

    go through the notes :-
#764176 Error in XI due to inconsistent SLD contents
#720717 Reduce the number of System Landscape Directories

  • Deleting a defunct Skype Community identifier

A couple of hours ago, I created a new identifier for use here (Swiftie) but a shortly afterwards it was no longer signed on, and it wasn't accepting my password, and I ran out of temporary codes trying to get back in.
So, I've created a new Skype account, and started again as here as "Apodida". Hopefully I'll get further this time.
Is there any way to get the "Swifty" identifier erased, as I have no way of accessing it now. Presumably the same goes for the associated Skype ID, but I've already forgotten what that was.

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
Please send me a private message here on the community the new community name you would like to be used on your account. Two options in case your first one is not available would be great as well.
You can send me a private message by clicking on my name to the right and using the link from my profile page.
