Hi Just rec'd this below from "Skype Compensation Network" using a skype logo with some sort of gold coloured trophy across its front. Can you confirm if it is a legit Skype site or is it a scam?????

This has got to be one of the most creatively produced scams and phishing ploys I have ever read! What will they dream up next?! Skype would never, ever participate in let alone host one of these schemes. Please, do not click on any links or respond in any way. The entire thing is completely fake and false.

Mail/limewire/skype Problems - Network fine!

My mail was working fine the other day, but suddenly it won't connect to any of my email accounts (gmail, university email account, etc). I tried installing Thunderbird and read my messages through that but it still won't work.
Additionally, skype stopped working too. It said I could connect but it would show that no users were online, when they were infact online. However, I reinstalled it and it solved the problem. But mail still won't work...
I looked at my firewall settings and they seemed ok.
The internet/network connections are working completely fine. I can browse normally with Safari. The only things that have changed are Mail and Limewire. Limewire no longer connects properly and mail can't seem to connect to any of my accounts. No preferences have changed to my knowledge. I even tried dragging the preferences folder to the desktop and let the preferences go to the default, however, Mail still did not work
Any ideas?

I tried all of the above.
At first when I did the Disk Utility functions, I got an error that my Disk could not be repaired, however, once I booted into safe mode, it said it could be verified and found no errors.
Mail/Limewire still dont work!

Hacker was logged using skype on network

Hi,
I have just discovered a hacker broke into a business network of a friend of mine. Several pieces of software were installed including skype. The userlist showed 3 users were chatting in the dat file that I decoded. They have stolen information from the friend and transferred files also. I actually added the users to a skype account and one of them has already accepted the invite and flashed on and off line a few times. I have the three usernames and more.
I know we will be reporting this to the police likley once the owners are informed and make a decision.
What else can I do to report, trace or find the culprits? I have zipped up the skype folder to preserve the data and by reading the dat files and sqlite files I have found quite a bit. Is there a guideline for what is in the file and where it is located in the databases?
Any advice would be appreciated.

once you deemed that this matter is needed to be reported to your local police, your local police can contact Skype and request for information that may help them in their investigation.

Cannot close skype network connection

i do not appear to be able to close skype's network connection.
i log off from skype yet under control panel/network connections skype connection shows as active and locked, i appear to not have relevant permissions to shut down the connection as it was created by someone other than the admin (me)
im so not happy about the situation that i choise to uninstal skype as a las resort to remove the connection and will not choose to reinstal at any time in the future if this is not resolved.
i see no reason for the connection to remain beyond the operation of the skype programme
can anyone assist with advice on how to close the connection without having to resort to an uninstal?

Check the following to verify your AirPort configuration:
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
- Verify that an AirPort option exists. If it does not, click "New" to create one. (Note: If you are unable to create an AirPort configuration, the AirPort card in your computer either doesn't exist or it is not recognized.)
- Verify that AirPort is "On" (checked)
- Verify that AirPort is at the top of the list. If it isn't, you can drag it to the top.
Systems Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort

- By default, join: Automatic
TCP/IP tab
- Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
- Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
Proxies tab
- Configure Proxies: Manually

How can I turn my company into a skype participati...

I work in a company that is interested in becoming a skype participating network operator. The city we are located at (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) only has one skype wifi place.
Searching through the website I couldn´t find a link to answer this question so I would appreciatte it if someone can help me out with this.

On your iMac visit System Preferences>Sharing>Internet Sharing
If your iMac is wired to your internet connection simply share your Ethernet connection to computers using Airport.
Set up Airport/WIFI coming from your iMac by visiting AirPort Options in bottom right corner of Sharing... Choose your name, channel, WEP password...hit OK. Close sharing preferences.
Jump on your iPad and under settings choose your iMac wifi that you had just configured.
Obviously your iMac needs to be on for your iPad to continue using wifi...and these quick steps apply to your iMac only if you are connected via Ethernet and not already wifi.

Very critical issue with skype username

I need to recover my skype account but i cant contact support... its extremely confusing and keeps going in a loop...
I need to recover my account, I have:
Forgotton my password
My account email was a private domain name which has been expired and i have no longer access to.
I bought skype credit but its way more then 6 months ago so i cant use it to recover any details or help myself.
The debit card i had used to buy these services was with my previous bank account and is long expired... i do not remember the digits it had or anyway to obtain those...
I do not know how else i can prove myself... I urgently need to recover my account...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Skype History

I know several people have entered posts about this but I thought it would be nice for Skype development to comment now that version 6.18.0.106 was released this week.
The issues are that (1) user must manually delete history which deletes from the local machine - but not another machine that you might log into with the same login and (2) Skype development said back in January they would address the issue of the messages not being able to be deleted from the cloud in a next version which would prevent the multiple machine issue and also protect the user's privacy which we believe Microsoft takes very seriously.
Can someone update us on these issues?
Wasn't there a function in Skype before that you could check a box that "delete history upon logout?" I seem to remember something like that. Did that get removed?

However, you could do this with Delete Skype History Network Edition program which deletes chat conversations from remote Skype server so they'll never appear again not only on the PC, were they were deleted, but also on all your synchronized devices http://deleteskypehistory.com/network-edition/index.php

Skype shuts down when loading on Panasonic TV

Skype on Panasonic TV problems Installed Logitech TV Cam V-U0022 to my Panasonic TC-P50VT25 according to manufactures recommendations and instructions. Worked great for five days as I would Skype with my son 2000 miles away. Unfortunately, now when Skype attempts to load and gets to the main Skpye screen it shuts down and returns to the VieraCast homescreen. All other Apps work fine. Called Logitech and with my laptop computer they cleared the camera as not part of the problem but suggested it was a Panasonic firmware issue. Called Panasonic tech, they never heard of the problem and resolved to turn it over to their "firmware tech people". I don't know if I will ever hear back from them! I see on Skypes' Support Network that this problem has happened to others. Any suggestions to help with this problem?

Skype continues to ask for a new app, despite installation !?

Dat doe ik dan en vervolgens werkt Skype gewoon, maar deze melding/procedure blijft zich herhalen. Ik kan Skype dus niet gewoon gebruiken en moet elke keer eerst downloaden en installeren. Ik gebruik Windows 8.1 op mijn laptop en hoop dat iemand weet hoe dat ik dit kan oplossen. NB.: Eerst de oude versie de-installeren heb ik uiteraard al geprobeerd. On-line translator ... I recently received an announcement that Skype would come with a new app and that it should replace the old. Meanwhile I have installed and used this app, but every time I start Skype the next time these reports: Time for a new app. Download Now!
I do than then Skype works simply, but the message / procedure repeats itself. I can not just use Skype and must first download and install any time.
I use Windows 8.1 on my laptop and hope someone knows how i can fix this.
NB .: First uninstall the old version, I naturally tried.

Scams a Skype inside job?

I subscribe to several Skype services (that I pay for), and the most annoying thing about Skype is the number of scam attempts that happen daily, and have for years (calls from "system notice", "online help", "instructions", "system - urgent...", "comp 002 - help", "online notice", and many others). Now you know, and I know, and you know that I know that you know that these come from the same source. Your "solutions" that direct me to only allow calls from those on my contact list are not acceptable, as that will not allow calls from other legitimate callers that aren't on my list.
The true solution is for Skype to identify and block these calls at the source. If that is not possible, then Skype needs to spend some money and hire security people who can do the job. I suspect that, because the huge majority of these calls come when I am online and signed in, perhaps the intruder actually works for Skype, with access to those who are online at any given time. I have blocked (and reported abuse from each of these calls) several times a day for years. Obviously, that is not a solution either.
Perhaps the economical nature of Skype subscriptions comes with a higher cost? These abusive calls have interrupted other important calls I was engaged in, awakened me from a sound sleep, caused me to waste untold amounts of time blocking and reporting, and generally been a nuisance. I am considering going back to a more expensive, yet secure, way of using the phone. Give me a good reason to stay with Skype.

Please allow me to put to rest your assertion that these scam and phishing attempts are a Skype "inside job." They are not.
Skype is keenly aware of these issues; as is the nature of those who commit fraud and who circulate scams, spam, and phishing pleas, as soon as one is discovered and disabled, another is instituted.
I will bring your letter to the attention of the Skype Support Network Moderation Team management.

I would like to use Unlimited Call facility to Call from Singapore to India.
Could you let me know how much charge per month (for Unlimited Call facility from Singapore to India) in Singapore Dollars.

Skype discontinued the Unlimited India subscription in August, due to high levels of abuse. Skype now offers 4 subscriptions for calling telephones in India (60, 120, 800 or 2500 minutes/month). Since this was just discontinued recently, I would not expect Skype to resume offering the former Unlimited India subscription.
If you have contacts in India that have Internet access, you could encourage them to sign up for Skype accounts. Then you could have free Skype-to-Skype calls with those contacts, including one-on-one video chats.
