Skype connection drops every 1-2 minutes

Hi Everybody,
I use skype for desktop windows pc; and I also have a skype on-line number.
When I call to landline numbers or people call me from landline numbers, skypes disconnects after about 1-2 minutes of talking.
Anyone has experienced this?
Thanks.

Take it back to the store, you have like 90 days of free hand holding and they also check the machine for hardware issues.
Buy AppleCare and a couple of external powered drives, one for TimeMachine and one for a bootable clone.

  • Guest-wired access connections drop every 1- 2 minutes

    I have an interesting problem.
My connections to the guest wired access drop consistanly every 1 -2 minutes. There are no drops in the mobility between the WiSM and the 4402 anchor in the DMZ.  DHCp is served from the 4402 DMZ controller as well as thier authentication.
When a user connects to the guest wired access vlan some times they obtain a 169.X.X.X address and after several tries they get the proper 192.168.x.x addres. The user get thier IP address and get the redirect login. They maintain thier internet connection for only 1 - 2 minutes.
DHCP on the 4402 is set for 4hours
    Any thoughts ?
    Mike

Ouch, the forums ate my formatting for that first post!
Thanks for the reply Ray. I should mention that this is a shared house, not a family home, so I cannot always access the devices. I'm the one on the ethernet connection and I've gone into my ethernet adaptor's settings to change my IP address to a static number just below that of the DHCP range whilst leaving DHCP enabled for everyone else. After restarting my computer the connection's still dropping.
Haven't had a chance to reset the hub yet, if that's necessary, as other people are using the connection at the moment.
I do have the admin password for the hub but I'm under the impression a static IP address would have to be set from the devices themselves which I can't access - or can I use Home Network > Devices, check "Always use this IP address" then disable DHCP?

  • ADSL connection dropping every 1 - 5 minutes

Even though I had reconnections from the very beginning, it has gotten a lot worse over the last week. The connection now rarely survives a time frame longer than 5 minutes.

  • ADSL connection drops every 30 - 60 mins & strange...

I recently moved house and an engineer came to connect my phone line on Thursday morning. He had a few problems: after spending about half an hour up a telegraph mast he went to the local cab for 90 minutes to fix another problem. This all took 2 or 3 hours, but eventually I had a working phone line. The engineer explained it would take a few hours more for the broadband to start working.
Later that evening, my broadband kicked in. Blue light, all happy. Straight away, my connection speed was great. I was getting results of 15Mbps from speedtest.net and a 15ms ping. This came as a surprise, as I thought new lines normally started quite slowly and then built up speed over the first couple of days.
... then my connection dropped less than 60 minutes later. I logged onto my new Home Hub 4  to find that it said the internet was disconnected. I told it to reconnect, which it promptly did. Everything was fine.... for about 30 minutes, but then it disconnected again. This time, I left the Home Hub alone. After a few minutes it sorted itself out and I had working internet again.
This has been happening constantly on loop for the past 2 days. Any suggestions?
I've tried running a few tests that have been mentioned in this forum. They seem to have some strange results!
    1. If I enter my phone number into http://diagnostics.bt.com/login/?workflow=Connectivity it states that "It doesn't look like you're using a BT Home Hub", even though I am.
    2. The results from btwholesale.com/includes/adsl says that I have a 1Mbps line
    3. My connection stats seem to look fairly healthy, other than my connection time (it just died again when I went to take a screenshot).
    Any idea?
    Cheers!

have you tried a factory reset of hub using the recessed button on back and holding for 20/30 secs until lights flash?
if you do a factory reset then turn off smart setup  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44328/~/switching-smart-setup-on-and-off-on-the-bt-ho...
    then split the networks http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44798/related/1
try quiet line test  dial 17070 option 2  should be quiet and best with corded phone

  • Infinity connection drops every time I use the lan...

So I've discussed this on here before with no joy (https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/connection-drops-every-time-I-get-a-call-on... and I've tried swapping out all the equipment with no success. It is driving us mad now....we have to unplug the landline if we're going to use the Internet for a protracted period, just in case!
Advice please: where do I go from here? When I use the broadband section to report a fault I end up in a dead-end of self-help docs.
Do I report it as a phone line problem (and pay for an engineer to visiit) even though the phone line tests out OK?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, that will teach me to be so optimistic..
So I'm now £129 lighter and using a new line...and the broadband doesn't drop out everytime the phone rings..
BUT it drops out periodically all the time now.. AND the speed is much less than before (I get 30 Mbps on a good day..15 Mbps is typical ,and it was less than 10 Mbps today before it dropped out completely). This may sound churlish to some but I work from home sometimes and the drop in speed, coupled with the frequent disconnections, is making it unworkable...
So I've reported the fault and despite the very nice Indian woman telling me that '15 Mbps is typical for wireless' after going through a very lengthy script, I am not happy. Wireless/Wired = makes no difference..I've tried...
Since its worse than before I've asked whether than can switch me back to my old line..the call raised on the 11th was marked as resolved today although I've still no resolution even though I was promised an answer within 24 hours..and have been promised that again today...and nobody rings me on my contact number that I give them (and is in my MyBT profile) but spurious 'we tried to contact you' messages are left on my home answerphone while I'm at work...
    Resolved
    Broadband fault VOL011-***********
*sigh* according to the official checker I should be getting better....
(edited to remove the actual fault code since it is deemed a security risk)

  • PPTP connection dropped every 120 mins

    Hi guys,
I am using a pptp server running on windows 2008 server and I have configured my ASA 5520 to let the PPTP traffic to pass throught.
The solution works quite well but exactly every 120 minutes the connection drops and people have to reconnect. Is there any setting to change? In the PPTP server I haven't found any setting to change.

  • Wireless connection drops every day -- iTunes 8.02 the problem??

Hello! Our iMac is connected to the internet via Airport, and we have rarely had problems with the connection. For the last two weeks, when I get on the iMac for the first time that day, I have to reconnect to the wireless network through the Airport Setup Assistant every single time. I've tried resetting our cable modem and Airport -- no effect on the problem. I've tried going into sleep mode without logging off to see if that might help -- nope. I've tried repairing permissions in the off-chance that that might help -- no again.
In something that seems more than just a coincidence, we updated our iTunes to 8.02 about two weeks ago, and that's when this problem began happening. I am especially suspicious that there's a link because we did not update iTunes on our Macbook and it has no problem whatsoever staying connected to the exact same wireless network.
    Two questions, then:
-- Is the iTunes 8.02 update the problem?
-- If so, how do I go back to iTunes 7.7?
    Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to iTunes and apple, but this is happening to me too! I've got iTunes 8 and whenever I run it, my wireless connection drops (disables itself) and cannot be restarted without rebooting the machine. Did you manage to find an answer?

  • Wireless mesh backhaul drop every 2 -3 minutes

I have 4 1242 A/G (A is the backhaul and G is for clients, NO WLC) in a mesh with 1 as tha RAP and 3 and the MAP.  All aps have the same antenna 2.4 has patch 7.5dbi and the 5.0 has a 6dbi omni.  The syslog shows that the backhaul is dropping every 1-2 mintues because of maxreties.  The distance between the RAP and MAP is about 300ft, and the AP are about 12-15ft off the ground in a indoor parking garage for 100-40ft mass transit bus.(40 passangerbuses).  What could be causing the backhaul to drop?
    Thanks

Was this working before and just now stopped working ?

  • Connect drops every time phone rings

I have BT BB1, but I use BT analogue for phone calls (I have pay for free 24 x 7).
However everytime the phone is used, by BB connect drops.
    Any ideas?

No doubt a microfilter problem. Either one is faulty, you have them configured incorrectly or you have an unfiltered telephone somewhere; Skybox is usually favourite for not being filtered as people forget it is connected to the telephone system.
If you have a microfilter problem somewhere then you are also likely not getting the best speed out of your broadband either. Usually, I find that customers broadband speed improves, as well as stability, once the filter issues are resolved
I'm a noob here so can't point you in the direction of relevant help page (yet), although I think someone did it already in a previous post.

  • Connection dropping for a few minutes randomly, reoccuring issue for months now

So my Too long, didn't read I'll just post now: Is there anyway to speak directly to an elevated support technician? I'm tired of having to spend half an hour each time I call just to get to someone who can tell me to do more than just reset the modem/router, and that they are sending a signal, and that they are "changing some settings" on the modem. And here is my full story: In december I moved into a different apartment. They hooked everything up, things worked ok for about 2 weeks. Then I would get this issue where my gateway would drop connection out of nowhere. The Power light would stay on, but the DS and Online lights would go off, and then come back on a few minutes later. This became a consistent thing (a few times a day, ranging from internet being out for 30 seconds to an hour).  I called, they brought a new modem, worked for about a day, same issue again. I called again. They brought another modem. Worked for a day, same issue again. I called again. They came out, this time they changed the coaxel running to the modem from the outside. Worked for about a day, same issue again. I called again. They came out, guy checked the signals and all that, put a new splitter on, checked the box outside that is attached to the apartment building, that goes to the powerline on the street. He updated some wiring that was in there. This worked for about a few weeks! success I thought. A few weeks later, same problem. This time a tech comes, says he remembers being here (He was the guy that came out for the initial install) and said he'd put in a work order for a truck to check the lines on the street. He didn't even bother checking any of my equipment because he knew it wasn't my stuff.  Well this seemed to do the trick, or so I thought. I never actually got a call or email or anything that the truck came, so I just assumed the truck came and they checked the lines on the powerline because my internet was finally stable for a month. And then yesterday. The. Same. problem. Comes. Back.  I call, and for now the 5th or 6th time, I have to go through their resetting script, even though I clearly state my issues, what has been tried, that they determined it wasn't my equipment and got a truck to check the lines on the powerline, and they IGNORE ALL THAT AND DO THE SAME THING WE'VE ALREADY DONE, SEVERAL TIMES. I am thoroughly, thoroughly upset at this point. I don't know what to do. All I want, is internet that doesn't cut out randomly, for more then 3 or 4 weeks. I can understand it cutting out "once in awhile", maybe one time for a few minutes every few weeks. I'd be happy with that at this point even. But I pay 180 dollars for my tv and internet package. This is UNACCEPTABLE.  Is there a different number I can call, or someone I can write to? I need to know how to get this issue looked at by the proper personnel, or have them taking it more seriously then just checking things one time and being done with it.

I experienced the same problems for a month or more. I was as frustrated as you sound. In fact, I told them that the only new package (Evidently they are required to try to get you to upgrade your service when you call for problem resolution) I was interested in was ATT U-Verse. (Grin). I was very frustrated. I took additonal steps. I ran a seperate Coaxial cable across the floor of my house to disprove the "House wiring is bad" theory. I bought a new modem myself because mine was a year or two old. And who am I? They may have been correct. And yet my trouble continued. Finally, after some very angry calls to some poor ladies and men in some unknown country, I was finally contacted by somone in my local service area (South Florida) last night. "Tech 1" came out and replaced my sevice line from the pole to the house. He was still not satisfied with the signal, so he passed it on to the next level. An hour later "Tech 2" showed up and adjusted some settings he could only access by going up in the air. I will say this, and hopefully not jinx myself, that my modem connects instantly now. Both of these men were professional, they answered my questions. They worked hard, it is 90 degrees today. Both of these men told me that they would monitor my connection status throughout the next week. My major complaint now is "Why did it take so long to get help"? Once I got through to the "Front Line" things got better really fast. All of this work was accomplished today, Sunday, by cheerful, friendly people who helped me. If anyone from Comcast/Xfinity monitors this, please, commend the two techs who came to help me today. Another good thing might be to dispatch these people sooner, rather than put an electronics technician like myself, through that same script over and over again for a #%#$%^ month. Yes I have the cable connected, Yes it is plugged into my computer, no there is no router, hardwired not wireless.  By all means send a refresh signal. You can't see my modem, well my modem sees you!

  • WIFI drops every 1-2 minutes MBP Retina 2013

I've searching this forum for this issue but no solution helped me (deleting network login from keychain, etc)
I hope that I can find useful advice here.
    MBP Retina Early 2013, 2.7 i7, 16 GB, 512 GB.
I've bought it 1 week ago and 4 days after it started dropping connection every few minutes (sometimes it works fine for 0.5-2 hours).
It is so disturbing that I cant evenly use web.
Is it hardware issue or software? And how can I fix it?

Take it back to the store, you have like 90 days of free hand holding and they also check the machine for hardware issues.
Buy AppleCare and a couple of external powered drives, one for TimeMachine and one for a bootable clone.

  • Why does Home share Connection drop every night?

    Hello all!
I have three Apple Tv 3's hooked up, 2 wired, the other one wireless. I can stay connected to home sharing all day on all three of them without issue. But for some reason, every morning they have all three lost connection to home sharing. Even restarting the device does not reconnect it. All I can do is exit out of itunes and restart it. Then the home sharing is connected again and I can access my files.
This wouldn't be such a big deal if it was just me, but my wife does not want to have to fool with this every morning to play videos for our daughter. I was using Boxee Boxes prior to this and they worked flawlessly.
The computer does not go to sleep or hibernate and neither do the apple tv's. I have tested with firewall and anti-virus disabled. Called Apple support and they are clueless. Any ideas?

Two things jump into my mind: poor WiFi signal strength on the desktop PC or a dirty OS installation on the desktop PC. I'm quite sure that this has nothing to do with the cisco VPN client itself.
Assuming that you reach your remote workspace through the cisco VPN client it might also be that the remote part (the VPN concentrator) gets congested and drops your connection but than other employees would complain as well (can be checked with your ICT guys).
The thing is: when you lose Internet connection on your laptop while surfing a web site and connection comes back again within no time you won't notice anything. If the same happens to a system constantly receiving encrypted packets and some are missing the VPN client will drop the connection. Completely different protocols (http/ipsec) that are differently prone to packet drops...

  • GPS Dropping every 10-12 minutes

Prior to today, my GPS worked great, the map worked great.  Since yesterday, the phone says lost GPS signal, every ten minutes. I restart the map, and bang, it is back for 10 minutes then it drops again.  I does not matter where I am, it does it now all the time. And this in an area where i never had an issue and my very old Garmin Nuvi has a strong signal.  Any ideas?

The first thing I would do, is take out the battery and leave out for 5 min and then reinstall it and see what happens...
Sometime if we leave our phone on 24/7 it seems that the phone is asking for rest for lack of a better term.

  • Network connection drops every 15 mins

    Hi all,
i'm loosing network access on my iMac. This has started tonight, I had never had any problem before. My iMac is connected through Ethernet interface to a switch, then access to a router and finally to the modem cable. I have several other computers on this home network, all of them working properly and accessing to Internet without any problem.
Only the iMac is behaving strangely, and only since a few hours.
When the problem occurs, everything seems normal : LEDs are on on the switch, ifconfig -a gives a normal report (interface up, IP address ok within network range (no APIPA), netstat -rn OK), and i have no entry in system. log or whatsoever. But I can't nervertheless access to any Internet site, nor can I even ping my defaut router.
I began to "solve" the problem by rebooting the mac, then found that, when the problem occurs, I can solve it by going to Network preferences, advanced options, TCP/IP tab and press the "renew DHCP lease". Then everything works fine for 15 minutes, and I have to renew this operation.
The strange thing is that I used the iMac this morning and it was working fine. When I switched it on again tonight, the problem appeared .... Nothing changed, execpt one thing (but I can't find any connection) : the World of Warcraft laucher has been updated this morning !  But I can not imagine that this might generate trouble on the TCP/IP stack of Mac OS X !!!!
When the network connection is lost, all traffic is stopped, not only HTTP. If I'm for example playing WoW, I loose the connection to the game servers. Renewing the DHCP lease fixes the problem if done quickly enough.
I know I never had this problem before, as I'm connected to WoW almost every day and could so far play without any problem for (sometimes) hours.
I've seen some posts describing more or less the same behavior, but no answers so far. Surprisingly, many of them reports problems occuring every 15 mins.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I've found a workaround : I've switched my TCP/IP config to static IP address and everything is working fine so far.
    Hope this helps.
