Skype connectivity with lync online plan1

hi ,recently I purchased lync online plan1 to enable skype connectivity with lync but not able to add any contact from lync client as I am using lync 2010 client at windows pc and lync 2011 client at mac PC
and I already enabled external communication setting for public messenger like skype from lync admin center(office365 based).

Hi skype user,
As Edwin mentioned, you could try to update your client to the latest version.
For Windows, you could install the Lync 2013 Basic.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35451
For Mac OS , you could install the latest update “October 2014 update for Lync for Mac 2011 14.0.10”
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36517
If it still does not work, you could post the question on Office365 forum for assistance. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Lync user is not able to connect to Lync online.

    Hi Friends,
I am going to share you a strange issue.....
Actually we have brought some Lync online accounts from Microsoft. So when we try to login in mentioned below scenarios then we got the output like this :-
    1) When we login the machine by domain user (But not the member of Local Administrator group) then we are not able to connect to Lync online server (Office 365) via the lync online user.
    2) When we login on the machine by local administrator then we are able to connect to the lync online server (Office 365) via the Lync online user.
Now I have shared my problem to you just to know that :-
    * Is problem happening because of Domain Group policy running on the machine and if yes then please share that what policy it might be. (Guys I will be very thankful to you if are able to catch this problem).
    Thanks Guys in advance.
I am waiting for your valuable suggestions and solutions

    Hi,
The forum you posted is for Lync Server On-Premise only. The issue is more related to Office 365, you can also post the question on Office365 forum to get further information. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Need information for federation with lync online

We have an online lync account and one lync on premises account. We are trying to federate the two domains to enable chat and presence sharing between the two.
Online Lync client is [email protected] and lync on premises client is [email protected] We have updated the SRV records for ggnucfederation.com as follows to enable federation with lync online.
    _sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com --> sip.xmppspark.in
An A record for sip.xmppspark.in has also been added in the DNS to point to lync edge server. However we notice that, when we add
[email protected] from lync online, then no TLS handshake message is received at Lync edge server.
Interestingly, if we modify the SRV record to
    _sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com --> sip.ggnucfederation.com
and correspondingly create A record for sip.ggnucfederation.com, then TLS handshake is initiated and done.
What could we have possibly missed that is causing problem in the first case? Is it necessary to create the SRV record of type sip.<domainname>?
As per my understanding, lync online should query the srv record to get the target machine for the sipfederationtls and accordingly initiate tls handshake with the host name specified in the srv record. Is there anything more to this?

Not sure what you mean bu "Any other SRV record" above. The bottom line is that, On Prem deployment have an SRV (_sipfederationtls) record that resolve in to sip.domain.com (Access edge FQDN which is a A record) and Lync online deployment should
also have a SRV record (_sipfederationtls) that resolve in to sip.domain.com (CNAME Record) which points to sipfed.online.lync.com (A record which ger created automatically)
    http://thamaraw.com
    Thanks Thamara for your replies!
By 'any other SRV record' i meant, that I wish to make the srv record (_sipfederationtls._tcp.ggnucfederation.com) point to sip.xmppspark.in. The reason for this is that our certificates are by this CNAME i.e. sip.xmppspark.in. So there is any way I could
    achieve that?
Interestingly, does this restriction only applies to lync 2013 and office 365? I mean, I was going through some other forums, for lync 2010, where I found that people were using access edge fqdn as the sip srv record which was not necessarily sip.domain.com.

  • Lync Enterprise Coexist with Lync Online

    hi all,
wanna ask about Lync On-Premise with Lync Online.
I want to deploy one Lync standart Edition in my branch company but in my HQ have Lync Online 365.
    the scenario is like this.
    - user in HQ have thier account in Office 365
    - I have created Lync Server 2010 in my branch company, but before that I try to federated the Active Directory on-premise with Office 365 using ADFS
I wanna know that, could user in office 365 login to m lync on-premise ?
It is possible to coexist between lync on-premise with lync online ?
    Thanks,
    Rudi

Post is over a year old so you are likely all set but I will post the answer here in case anyone else can benefit.
The reason the same SIP domain cannot be used for both on-prem and O365 is due to DNS. Various DNS / Resource records are needed which point clients to the Lync services' by way of the SIP domain. This can only point to one place, not two places. So, if
your user is [email protected] for the sip domain, the client will look for resource records for contoso.com that relate to Lync and direct traffic to either Lync online or an on-prem Lync server depending on where your
    records point.
What you might have to consider (Or already did based on the age of your post) is to implement a coexistence model using Federation and Dirsync. Lots of time and resources involved here but will allow you to operate in both online and local environments.
Hope this helps you or others. I am now in the middle of planning my own migration strategy and this is what I am learning.

  • Setting up Skype Connect with SPA303

    Hi,
I just purchased a Cisco SPA 303 and I am trying to get it set up with skype connect. I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly apprieated.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hello Jason,
I took a look at the Skype Connect documentation, and it looks like you need to enter the SIP credentials you get when you create a new profile in Skype Connect into the SPA303.
The information you are looking for is a proxy address (Skype calls this a Skype Connect address) as well as a user name and password for that profile.
Then you can login to the administrative website of the SPA303 and enter this information in the Proxy and Registration section of the Ext tab.
Skype doesn't mention anything other than those settings and UDP port 5060, which is the default on the SPA303.

  • After I got connected with quickbooks online, quickbooks is always open in the left third of my screen. I cannot close it separately from firefox. This does not happen in Internet Explorer. How can I make it go away?

Everything was fine until I tried quickbooks online. Then, suddenly, I have the quickbooks site as an add-on no matter which other site I am visiting. I cannot close it unless I close the mozilla window completely.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Not accepting SN and won't connect with chat online

    Really discouraged:
I bought a new computer in April and when I tried to register it wouldn't accept the old serial no. I phoned and after some time, the "tech" informed me that in order to get re-installed I'd have to purchase a new code (or I think he somehow activated me) and it cost me around $200. that was April 27th and I got an email verifying. The C drive had to be replaced as it was bad so another complete re-install and now I'm trying to reach a tech again but in this case when I hit the chat button, nothing happens.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA

  • Skype Connect times out with Elastix - Desperately...

    Hello All,
I'm trying to use Skype Connect with Elastix and I am having issues. I have tried everything I could.
The logs keep showing this :
Registration for ***' timed out, trying again (Attempt #3)
    My registration string is [***]
Shouldn't the above line make the trunk get registered?
    Please help.
    Thanks
Edit: I have already tried using putty to connect to the Elastix box. I tried using telnet sip.skype.com 5060. All this works fine. I am able to ping sip.skype.com from the elastix box. I haven't found signs of connectivity issues or firewall blocking or anything like that so far. But strangely, the timedout error is being really tough on me
Current settings Screenshot (Password replaced) :

    Hi,
Before going further, would you please let me know the RDC version that used in the problematic computer? Was it the same with other computers?
Please temporarily disable firewall and then check if this issue can be solved. Based on your current description, it’s hard to say the root reason of this issue.
So, I suggest that you should check relevant log files and get some clues. It will help us to narrow down and solve your issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • On Prem Lync - Enable federation for "Lync Online" causes presence fail and gives error when creating groups

    Hi all,
We have had Lync on premise for a long time, and have recently added Office 365 Business Premium Plan because we wanted Cloud exchange and SharePoint.
I have found that on our on prem Lync, when we enable federation for "Lync Online" it cause our presence to intermittently flick on and off, and we are unable to create groups in our Lync Client. We get the message "unable to create a group
    at this time".
We are also not able to federate with Office365 hosted Lync Online clients.
This seems to be a bug between Office365 plans that have hosted lync licenses and on prem Lync. Has anyone found the
What I need to do is disable office365 Lync, and I have tried to do that in every location I can find (DNS/User settings), but I still have this issue.
Has anyone come across this issue and found a fix?
    Simon.

    Hi,
Did you do a Lync Hybrid environment or just make federation with Lync Online?
Please double check if there is any wrong configuration for federation with Lync online environment. You can refer to the following steps in the link below of “Configure federation support for a Lync Online domain in Lync Server 2013”:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202166.aspx
Then make sure CMS replication update to the latest status.
If the issue persists, check if Lync Server update the latest version. If not, update it and then test again.

  • On-Prem Lync 2013 moving to Lync Online (Office 365)

We have an office of about 130 users, all of whom use either Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 client to connect to Lync Server 2013 (on-prem). We have recently signed up for Office 365's E3 plan which includes Lync Online, which we plan on using in favor of on-prem
Lync Server. Our internal domain name is the same as the domain we're using be using for Office 365 (i.e. "initech.com"). Externally, I can connect to Lync Online (O365) just fine - however, from my Office's LAN, the external autodiscover records
    can't be resolved.
If I want to cut all Lync users over to Lync Online and stop using Lync Server on-prem, what do I have to do? Any internal DNS records I have to add to make sure autodiscover resolves to Office 365?
I have the following External DNS records set up successfully - should internal DNS mirror any of these?
    CNAME records
    Host name
    Points to address or value
    TTL

    Thanks!

    Hi cllpd23,
Based on my knowledge, in a hybrid environment, the External DNS records should not be changed to use the Lync Online records.
You should recover your External DNS records settings and only add the SRV record
     “_sipfederationtls._tcp.domain.com 5061  sip.domain.com”.
In internal DNS server, you should add the SRV records “_sipfederationtls._tcp.domain.com 5061 sip.domain.com” and ”_sip._tls.domain.com 443 sip.domain.com”,
and also should point to the on-premises Access Proxy.

  • Lync Online Voicemail

We have a Lync Hybrid setup, some users are onprem and some are online with Office 365.
We were able to configure voicemail for onprem users, works without any issues. However when we enable UM for users homed @LyncOnline the voicemail does not activate. Is voicemail supported for Lync Online users? I could not find any detailed info on this.
    Thanks
    Emin

Voicemail is supported in Exchange Online when hosted by Microsoft, but Enterprise Voice is not supported with Lync Online hosted by Microsoft, therefore you would have difficulty enabling UM in Exchange Online for users hosted by Lync Online as you've found.

  • So... Skype Connect for a dorm student?

For lack of a better place to post I am planting my flag here. I am a technology geek so natrualy I take the path of most resistance What I want to do is hook a Cisco 7940G or similar up to a Asterisk based server and use something like Skype Connect and an Online Number to make and receive calls from the phone. I would love to use skype for this, but they are not very student/not-business oriented when it comes to having a voip server. If there is anyone that can help me out, it is always much appreciated. I wouldn't mind a student discount either If there is anyone from skype I can talk to directly, that would be great too Thanks
