Skype constantly disconnecting and muting others' voices

I'm on Windows 8.1, and am running the most current version of Skype.Despite this, in the past couple of days alone, Skype has started acting up. I will go on skype, it will load every message just fine, I can join calls, I can talk and be heard, video works fine both ways, and I can message... Just that I can't hear what anybody in a call is saying. I can hear the notifications and the test sound, but not my friends' voices. What's more perplexing is that after 10 minutes or so I can start hearing them. Which brings me to the second problem... I only have so much time before skype disconnects me. I have been constantly disconnected from Skype despite a continuous internet connection. Somebody please help!

Make a direct connection from your PC/laptopto the modem which will eliminate the homehub. Follow this guide to do that. Use your computer as normal to see if it disconnects. If it does not disconnect you will know that there is nothing wrong with your line/connection and it may be a faulty hub . Obviously this must be done with a wired connection and no wireless devices will work while you are doing that.
Step 1: Remove the homehub from the modem
Step2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
Step3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
Step4: Connect to the internet then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
Step5: Username [email protected] and the password as BT
Step6: connect, If it doesn't,keep pressing try again until it does.

Any ideas?  I probably have something wrong in my computer settings.

You should restore your modem to router condition and set the Airport Express to 'Bridge Mode'. A full explanation and the method of doing this is here:

I experienced the same problem with my Lumia 800 and the MyWay audio/navi/BT telephone system in my previous and current Citroën C5 (both latest model (PhIII)): http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/Bluetooth-and-3G/td-p/1288591 .
I first thought it had something to do with switching from G to 3G and back. But in the end I discovered that BT on the Lumia 800 just disabled itself, while connected to my cars BT system. I have started the procedure to send my Lumia tot Nokia Care. Keep You informed.

  • Verizon 4G LTE Router constantly disconnecting and other issues

My Verizon 4G LTE Router constantly disconnects. It requires a power off reset to come back on. Unfortunately, I dumped a perfectly reliable DSL connection for this. Worse yet, it is in a second home, and used to remotely monitor my temperature and security camera. I'm an not there every hour of the day to power cycle this totally unreliable device!
Also,I've had this device for a couple of months now, and have yet to be able to get my security cameras working. Now I can't even tell if my furnace is on - with winter coming if I can't monitor the temperature remotely, my pipes and well pump could be seriously damaged. What is going on with this thing????

Blazey, I appreciate you trying to help.
So, what you are saying is I have a few options:
         1) Do nothing and keep paying for a service and hardware combination I purchased directly from Verizon that doesn't work
         2) Spend $600 on top of what I have already spent to get limping along
         3) Spend $600 + buy another more reliable router that doesn't hang all the time
Where is option #4 - Verizon should fix their problem(s), or release me from my contractual obligation so I can go back to a rock steady DSL connection!
This is totally unacceptable.. I am not trying to use some 3rd party hardware on their network. I purchased this directly from Verizon so I DIDN'T have to worry about it working. They swore to me that this would be a plug in replacement for my DSL. Now after some more reading I discover it is not even close. It does not support port forwarding without shelling out another $500 for a static IP. I can assure you, I did not pay for this with ATT's DSL service. I feel duped and am pretty outraged by this.
What's worse is, I do not have "eye's" on my vacation home almost 300 miles away while this is happening. A little difficult to just "pop" over and reset it - which is what Verizon support suggested I do.

  • Magic mouse constantly disconnects and can't get it to connect without rebooting the computer.  Anyone else have this issue

How do you solve the problem of the magic mouse constantly disconnecting?  I have changed the batteries and turn it on and off, but the only way to get it to reconnect seems to be re-starting the computer.  Any thoughts?  Thank you.

    Greetings Beth,
Wireless devices are susceptible to interference.  Review this article for common sources: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048#5
They are also very sensitive to low power.  Make sure you are using VERY fresh batteries.  If they have been sitting on a shelf for months they don't count as fresh IMO.
Troubleshooting steps to try after you read that article at the top:
Remove the following to the trash: Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Restart the computer and re-pair the mouse and keyboard
If issue persists reset the SMC:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If the issue persists reset the PRAM:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    Hope that helps!

  • Skype Keeps disconnecting and Re-connecting

HI There,  since last week my skype, and a couple of my skype contacts have been experiencing the same problem. Skype will stay connected for a while in the morning and then it will will start disconnecting and showing you as offline. If you whach it, you can actually see it disconnecting, looking for a connection and then connects again for a couple of seconds.  I though it was the version that I'm running so upgraded and currently running on version:5.5.0.113 but this has not changed anything. To rule out my company network I tested this at home on my home network with both my Laptop and my Pc and the result is the same.  What could it be? and how do we get arround this?

Are you using a wireless network nearby other possible wireless networks, like near or in an apartment/condo like building that might be on your same wireless channel? If so, please see this free program that can tell you if this is causing you issues as well. http://virtualtelephoneservices.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8 If this is a laptop/notebook, it could be overheating, during long video calls, this free program can tell you if this is the case. http://almico.com/speedfan.php

  • Skype constantly buffers and freezes on my phone (...

My phone constantly buffers and freezes. I have a Nokia Lumia 530 phone and I'm always having problems.

This phone is probably not the best one for Skype, but if you were using 3G then please try to use Skype over Wifi. Also make sure you have the latest Skype for Android.
If the call quality is still not good and constantly dropping out then you may request a refund. There's not much we can do on our side regarding connection.

  • Airport constantly disconnecting and reconnecting...

This issue started to appear few days ago, and it is really frustrating.
For every 10-20 minutes, my Airport disconnects from the networks and reconnects in a matter of seconds, causing all of my on-line activities to cancel, and IM programs to disconnect.
Anybody familiar with this issue? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    B

I'm having a similar issue - I have 3 Mac laptops and 1 PC desktop networked and today for example all 3 Macs dropped the wireless connection, had a hard time reconnecting/finding the signal (even though it shows in the drop-down list). I've tried around with unplugging/replugging, rebooting, etc. but the problem sporadically reoccurs. BTW, in today's little episode the PC desktop stayed connected.

  • Skype CONSTANTLY connecting and reconnecting

Hello, past few months I am having the error "The call is connecting" when I attempt to call someone. When I accept the call everything works perfectly for a few minutes and then it starts ... I became offline, the call starts stuttering, robotic speach, I can not hear the other side, nor they can hear me as I apperar offline to them, and everything else works perfectly fine except when I am in a call.
I have been using Skype for a long time on this same computer/same install of application and never had a problem until this past month.  I contacted Skype support and went through the troubleshooting process including checking firewall exceptions (Windows and AVG), app data skype folder, clearing out my router via resetting the power and so forth. I have also tried multiple "clean" installs of the latest Skype version but the error continues, and never had the problems before.
This confuses me further because my Skype account and Skype in general works fine from my Android tablet and android phone, but will not work from my PC at all (thus the problem is not with my account login information). I even attempted to "downgrade" Skype by downloading an older version of the product of it made no difference. I tried even with different ISPs and connections and still the same problem. I tried with all programs closed except Skype akd still problem remains ...
Lastly, to my knowledge nothing changed on my PC in terms of software, including the Skype client recently, Skype has just stopped working for me and conastantly reconnects when I am in a call or even worse when I start the call.
Does anyone have further suggestions to fix this problem?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Press WinKey + R to open the Run window
    Type: regedit.exe then press Enter
Delete the Skype keys on the following:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies (if any)
Now try again with above settings.
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

I know it can't be the wifi because as recent as yesterday on Mavericks everything was fine. Now after the update it constantly disconnects and reconnects as much as a few times per five minutes! I've read on Reddit other people are having similar problems. Hopefully Apple fixes this soon.

Looking at the Console.app logs, it seems that the machine decides to bounce between two APs:

  • Wireless constantly disconnects

    Hi,
I am running an extremely old laptop (inspiron 4100) with lxde. The card I am using is a linksys PCMCIA the chipset is BCM4306 Rev 3.
The wireless would constantly disconnect and not reconnect using "Network-manager". I am now trying to connect manually from terminal using iwconfig (the internet here only has WEP) and it is not doing any better. Is this a driver issue most likely? Should I try to reinstall the network card?

Do you actually know from using other networks that the problem isn't the signal? Constant disconnects have only ever bugged me when the signal was weak or the connection really strained.

  • My iphone4 when connected to any computer will not charge and is constantly connected and disconnected.  does the same with itunes.  Also i'm talking on the phone and all of a sudden the other person can not hear me.

My iphone4 when connected to any computer will not charge and is constantly connecting and disconnecting.  It does the same with itunes so it doesnt really sync.  Also when talking to someone, all of a sudden they cant hear me.

I'm having the same issue. I went to my local apple store and they could not work me into the genius bar so i made an appointment for tomorrow morning. The clerk did check the phone for the pink indicators at the top and bottom of the phone (where you plug in your USB or headphones) He said if you can see a pink indicator dot you may have gotten it wet, or had some sort of condensation in it, which could cause the plugs to not work.
In regards to people not being able to hear you, i'm waiting for my appointment tomorrow for more news! I would recommend taking it into your local apple store for more answers.
