Skype contact showing online when offline?

One of my contacts is being shown online but in reality they are offline. How is this even possible and is there a way to fix it? I'm running the newest version of Skype and I've tried re-installing it many times but it just keeps doing the same thing :S
Also, when I try sending them a message when they are online the message just goes to pending and never sends.

There are 2 issues here which may be related, they may not be. I was only commenting on the first which is the apparently 'incorrect' status showing. That has been the case for mobile devices for quite a while ... maybe from when the functionality to identify mobile devices was introduced into Skype for Windows.
If the problem of not being able to send messages is only affecting one of your contacts, it makes me wonder whether the problem is with their account.
You say the problem started "randomly". Does that mean that sometimes you can send to that contact and sometimes you can't? Or it always affects that person but nobody else which makes it feel 'random'?

Maybe it is depending on version/OS running.The situation is as follows: Using Skype (last version) simultaneously on laptop, running Ubuntu Raring, and tablet PC, running Android 4.2.2. Skype is switched on on both machines, but active contacts differ - three of my contacts are seen as offline on the Android, and are unaccesible. Here's the reality of this PROBLEM. It has nothing to do with your software on your phones or tablets! Even when your friend powers right down (phone or tablet not even on) and/or disconnects from the net, you still can see them on line. You can completely exist Skype and remove it from memory totally (so that none of its services are running) and when you log back on, you see your friend show as on line again, even though their phone/tabelet is powered right off. THIS IS A SERVER PROBLEM ON SKYPE'S SIDE! When you log off, or better, completely power down, Skype's servers are not polling your device properly and logging off the server-side account. As an example, when I Log off Skpe then power down, the server SHOULD also disconnect the session. But it's not. Also, the server software should check all "active" connections periodically and poll the device to confirm it's actually even on line (the entire device and the Skype client). Again, it's not doing that or if it is, it's not doing it correctly. In my case, we have 2 smart phones (both brand new). I use my phone all day long. The other phone, is used from about 3.40pm to about 4.30 pm and then powered down. Yet, like this morning, when I go into MY phone and into Skype (logging on), I can see that no one is connected.... then the "Echo / Sound Test Service" becomes available (green dot) as it should, showing me that I am connected to the net, but then, our other connection also pops up with the green dot showing on line. The other phone is not even powered on. The server did not release the session, even over night. The other problem I'm seeing is that Skype is VERY VERY VERY unstable!!! I honestly HATE IT! Like yesterday, and everyday, actually, both phones are on the net and skype is logged on. On each phone, we see the green dot for each other. That SHOULD mean that we are both connected to Skype's server. Yet, when one tries to call the other, it just rings and rings (video), but on the other phone Skype never sees the incoming call!!! We've done this standing side by side. Yesterday in fact. So then, we ended that "call" and tried from the other phone to mine. This time, it worked. So then, we tried again from my phone to the other phone and that now worked. After that, we powered down both phones and then I powered up mine. Yup, the session of the other phone still has green dot. And NO, there's not a Skype service running. I'm a Certified Computer Tech and control what's going on with our equipment. As this thread has been going on for over 1 year, it's clear that Skype either doesn't give a rat's petutie or has no clue how to fix this problem. I've hated Skype for a long time because I find their software and system so unstable. I had hoped that by now they would have figured things out. Which is why I installed Skype on the 2 new smart phones. Clearly, I was wrong. It's time to see what other options are out there that actually work. So ya'll can stop believing that the problem is on your phone... it's not! (well, as far as the server session staying active).

Showing my contacts as online when they're NOT

It's really getting into my nerves. My contact has his skype automatically answering calls from me so I can can call him even when he's sleeping without disturbing him because our skype calls always get cut after a few minutes. This has happened all the time before, it always shows that he's online even when he's not! When I call, the voice message shows up and it's getting pretty annoying. I found a solution before, I quit skype and open it again. or I look at my iPhone's skype because it USED to show if someone really is online or offline, or I sign out on skype and sign in again, or I even turn off my wifi and turn it on again. I even changed my laptop from the Microsoft Surface 2 to an Apple Macbook Air because I thought the Surface 2 was the problem. BUT NO. SKYPE WAS THE PROBLEM. I did all 4 methods even when they're really annoying to do, and they worked fine for a few days, BUT NOW THEY DON'T DO SH**. I looked at my phone's skype, logged out my phone's skype and logged in again, logged out my laptop's skype and logged in again, turned off my wifi and turned it on again, quit my laptop's skype and open it again, and again and again and again! Note that everytime I do each method, I try to call him incase he's online, but that FFFFFing video message thing shows up EACH TIME.
I'm seriously pissed off. Skype was the only thing connecting us because we're in a long distance relationship. Skype isn't helping at all. I am on the verge of switching from this crap to Viber because I heard viber was WAY BETTER. Fix this man. Uggghhhh!!

New version of skype not showing online contact in...

I had my skype working greatly with some older versions but with some latest versions skype doesnt work with me. I was happy having the old version which was working without any problem. But today skype forced me to install the latest version and the problem came back.
When i log into skype, the only contact displayed as online is the skype test. However, i know that friends are online as they are showing up on my computer. I tried with different mobiles (xperia s, xperia z and galaxy s4) but same problem.please either solve this problem or let me use the old version that was working.

Same here using a Nexus 7 tablet, running skype version 5.0.0.52727. Not impressed!

Online when Offline?

When I exit Skype on my PC, why does it still show I am Online to my friends?
I've tried the /showplaces and /remotelogout

Deleted Contacts show up when trying to send a Text Message.

I have deleted contacts that still show when I try to send text messages out.Their name still appears even when they are deleted in my contacts. I've tried countless methods but nothing works. It won't go away. It's a huge problem for me and a lot of other people that I've talked to. Does anyone know how to fix this?

That is a last resort for me. I've done it before but I don't want to do it again. Why can't apple just make this problem disappear?

Others sharing my Apple ID contacts show up when I create a new message even though contacts is turned off in iCloud.

I have several phones who share the same Apple ID. None have contacts turned on in the Settings>iCloud area, so no one is backing up contacts in the Cloud. When any of us go to create a new text message and start typing in a name, all contacts for all phones show up, not just the contacts for the phone in use. Some names show up in green, some blue, and others grey. If we go into our contacts folder, only the contacts for the phone in use show up. This started once we upgraded to iOS 7.
Is there any way to make this stop?

Why my skype is always online?

1) My mobile is off, pc off and there are no place where i could used my skype. So why everyone see that I'm online 24h per day all the time when I' not? Ideas?

Skype status stays [Online] after sign out

Recently my skype has left online when I sign out. Over night my skype was logged in.
I changed my password then went offline and asked a friend. They confirmed I was still logged in.
Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. I use Skype for Windows and Skype for Android (on two devices). Even when I sign out on these devices and I turn them off and I also sign out and turn off my computer, all my friends confirms that I remain Online. It is not like for few minutes, I remain Online for all the time, I just never go offline. I tried to change my password like four times, I even try to reinstall Skype on all my devices and nothing changed. I'm starting to be a little scared. Could anyone help my please?

Is there a way to have all (exchange) email on iPad even when offline?

I would like to have access to my work (exchange) email when offline (travelling). Is there a way of keeping a selected amount on my iPad, not just the most recent items?

The issue is that I use a number of folders and unless I manually open each one a sync whilst online, when offline the only emails that are available are those from the last sync, e.g. there is no automatic, background synchronisation of folders not in use.
Ideas?

Hello, I using (newest) Skype on my computer, and one time i used it too on Windows Phone... First time when i get trouble to other see im online but no i will logout all devices online.. Sooo/showplacesand/remotelogout .So, its helped, but anyway, yesterday i taked a sleep my computer... After a 20 minutes ago has powersupply stopped work so Network card etc has stops working... (so PC fully shuted down). But anyway, its will be STILL VISIBLE like as im Online??? Why??? Actually result from /showplacesYou have 1 online endpoints:

Contact shows as online when I log in but then goe...

Recently I've noticed that one of my contacts appears as being online when I log into skype but almost immediately goes to Away. Generally they use Skype on their phone. I have asked them about this and they have said that once they have spoken to me (usually late at night for them) they put their phone down and go to sleep. However, when I log back into Skype later the green dot appears next to their name, almost immediately goes to yellow and then if I look at their Last Seen Online status it is either very recent or the exact moment I log back in.
Can anyone explain what is going on?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Contact View "Online" doesn't show non-skype users

After the latest update/patch whatever, the "Online" Contacts view no longer shows contacts that aren't using skype, even if they are online. I now have to use the "All" contact view to see some of the people who are online but using messenger, even though previously they would all appear under online contacts. Not very intuitive.

Same issue here. Started with the last update. None of my online Messenger contacts show up now when "Online" Is selected. I have to select "All" to see them.

HP AIO Remote shows wireless printer offline when it is online and can print to it.

HP AIO Remote installed on my Windows 8.1 Yoga 2 shows my wireless printer is offline, when it is online and I can print to it wirelessly. How can I get it to recognize my wireless printer is online wirelessly? AIO Remote will only recognize the printer is online when the USB in connected to the Yoga 2.

Thank you for the additional information. I apologize for misunderstanding. I just want to confirm that the HP AiO app that you downloaded onto your Windows 8.1 computer is showing your printer as offline when you are able to print wirelessly to the printer.
I have two different documents for you. The first one is How to Use the HP AiO Remote App for Windows 8. It has a FAQ section at the bottom of the document with trouble shooting steps. I have also included the Supported Printers for the HP Scan and Capture App.
If the above documents don’t assist you, would you please let me know which make/model/product number of HP printer that you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

How to get an email online when showing offline for sending. Solutions on site don't solve the problem.

How do you get an email account online when it is showing offline for sending. All settings are correct, previous solutions on the site don't help. One account works find the other one receives but doesn't send. No issues with ISP was found. This may have been happening since OS travel. Took a while to realise it was using the other account for sending.

I just solve the problem. While OS we brought an internet USB and connected to a phone, one or both of these must have caused the problem. When both of the downloads associated with them were deleted the email issue was resolved. regards
