Skype contacts disappeared skype hangs

I've picked up a very odd problem. I have Macbook pro, running OSX 10.8.2. About a week ago I developped problems with skype.
The contacts had disappeared. When I click on contact there are none and after a few seconds skype will hang itself. Remarkebly I can still be reaching through skype. So my computer is still visible and somebody else can call me and I can answer.
When I click on windows, contact monitor, all my contacts show up there as well.
I've gone through all the suggestion on the support section of Skype. Essentially de-installing and getting rid of every bit of the skype program and re-installing it. Did that several times over, but I keep getting the same problem. I've seen on some other forums these sort of problems were related to linking facebook contacts to Skype. But I haven't.
It's really a pain, since we live abroad and rely heavilly on daily skype with friends and family.
Any suggestions?

Skype hangs when I click a particular Contact

My Skype version: 7.0.60.102.
My Windows XP version: 2002 Service Pack 3.
For the last 2 days, I’ve observed that when I click a particular contact my Skype hangs. And I’d to restart the system. This happens irrespective of text or file transmission.
FYKI, this contact is using a slightly older version of Skype (6.21.0.104).
Please help!

Try to reset all Internet Explorer settings:

Also, reset LAN settings:
Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings. Make sure that the only option selected is “Automatically detect settings”.
If this will still not help, then uninstall the 7.0 version and install the previous 6.21.0.104 Skype version.

Make sure to disable automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

Skype hangs up when answered

Everything is fine when I place a call from my android tablet until the person I'm calling answers, then Skype hangs up and says the call failed. This even happens with the Skype test line. This just started happening today. I have used it before with no problems. Any suggestions?

I have an HTC Sensation XE with the latest updates for Skype and Android. I also have Skype on my Blu-ray Player. In addition my PC & Laptop, both Windows 7, have Skype installed.
What I have noticed is a consistent problem with Skype Android to Android and Blu-ray to Android. Android to PC or Blu-ray to PC is fine as is PC to Android or Blu-ray. This fault is repeatable and produces the same message, i.e. "call failed". It is almost as though the PC-Android and vice-versa is Master - Slave. Android to android or blu-ray is like slave-slave. Slave to Slave just doesn't work reliably.
Any ideas?

Contacts Disappeared on GE 31591GE1 Phone

Hi,
We have been using GE 31591GE1 phone successfully for almost 10 months. Suddenly, couple of days ago, all contacts disappeared from the phone unit. Phone is still capable to make and receive calls, but list of contacts is empty and fails to synchronize with our Skype account. Phone have all latest updates, was not powered out or disconnected from internet or altered in any other way.
We have about 50 contacts in our list and about 5-6 in blocked list, total is less than 60 contacts. All contacts are visible and synchronized in Skype installed on Windows and Android systems, but completely missing on the phone unit. It looks like phone is trying to retrieve contacts from Skype, but fails somewhere during connection with Skype database (no error message, just an empty contact list).
We have followed recommended on the forum instructions to reboot the unit, re-login, wait for an hour etc - nothing helps. Still an empty list of contacts.
Seems to me like software/database glitch. Several similar complaints on this forum for last week - might be a general issue.
Please investigate or post a fix.

One contact disappeared

One of my contacts disappeared in the past couple days. Only one. I have the latest version of Skype. I have logged in and out. No luck. Can someone at Skype please reinstall?

The AD account for Lync user is deleted, then address book updates, the Lync contact will disappear automatically.
Check if you can search the contact.

Why do my contacts disappear when i turn my icloud off?

I don't know that much about icloud but i signed into it anyway and have it on. and one day i though no point in having it on so i turned icloud off and the next day i noticed all my contacts where gone. so i paniced. i tried the back up from my computer and that didn't work. i went to setting > contacts and then import froim sim that did nothing so i then re signed into icloud again and they all came back.
I want to turn icloud off but i can't cause then all my contacts disappear.

This happens because when you sync them with iCloud they are moved from your phone to the iCloud server. If you turn off iCloud you are disconnecting your device from the server so it can no longer access your contacts (or other iCloud data).
If you no longer want to sync your contacts with iCloud, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off and choose Keep on My iPhone. That will keep a copy of your contact on your phone.

I just updated my 3G to 5.0 and most of my apps and contacts disappeared. THis has never happened before. How can I get it back to where it was?

It is locked to your sisters carrier.
She would have to ask her carrier if they unlock iPhones and if she qualifies for this service.

do you sync your contacts with an application in your computer? or use iCloud?
I can't tell you why the contacts disappear but you can get them back without much hassle by syncing through iTunes with your computer.
do you regularly make backups? if so, you can restore your iPhone using the backups and get your contacts back in your iPhone.
It is strange that half of your contacts are gone over and over again. Do you have Groups that are unchecked in your iPhone? If so, the contacts in those groups will not appear in your contacts list but they are in your iPhone and be recovered by re-checking the group name.

Are you saying that you had all your music safely stored in itunes and now it's all gone? You might try getting back the itunes folder that contains all your music (you haven't told us what kind of computer you're using) from a computer backup, say from a day ago. If using a mac, look in Time Machine, in the music folder for your account.

Why have my contacts disappeared and been replaced with some Facebook friend names?

Look under iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is there a backup listed for her phone? First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. If you have not synced since screwing her phone up, restoring from that backup(if it exists) should restore her content. Do not sync after you restore her phone, eject it. So, first disable auto-sync on that same device pane in iTunes before you proceed. If this doesn't work, is your sister bigger than you? If so, run 'cause her data is gone .

Because either they were removed from the phone, or you updated and forgot to restore from a backup that had the contacts.
What did you do just before they disappeared? Any editing of settings, updating, etc?
