I had uninstalled said update and was not any issue after that for last day (3,4 hours working).
But today i have been embraced again with same error. But a clue further to this is that my machine got updated by automatic updates earlier this morning as well.
I have rechecked from my windows update section that your said KB is not in the list; as i have uninstalled it and the windows auto update havent reinstalled it.
Please find further attached images.

  • Applications crashing after latest security update??

So i was prompted to download the new security update and the newest version of iTunes today. i do so, and upon start-up, i open adium and try to chat with a friend. before it could even open the IM window, adium chrashes. I updated adium and it still does the same. I then attempted to see if there were additional updates and the Software Updater also crashes instantly. i havent noticed any problems with other programs yet, but can anyone help me out on this one?
and the problems didn't start until AFTER the security update was installed

    Some general advice on updating:
It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 4.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • Apps crashing after latest Security Update

Word, TextEdit and Adobe Reader have been crashing since installing the latest Security Update 2005-009. Most of the time, it's when I try to print. I've tossed the .plist of Word, but it hasn't helped.
Everything was hunky dory before the latest Security Update installation.
Are there other things I should try to gain back stability?
    Thanks!
    Bud

    The following may help:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.0.6 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    In addition to the above:

If the problem is limited to only printing, try deleting your existing printers and reinstalling them.

You have a javascript error. Did you repair permissions via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder? If not, do so and restart the computer.
If the crash persists, then reapply the 10.4.8 combined update, again "repairing permssions" after the install/restart (I'm assuming you are using a PPC system, if you have an Intel Machine, use this combined update.

  • Program crashes after latest Apple update

Since automatically doing the latest Apple/Tiger software update, I have been having system wide trouble. Appleworks 6.2.9 crashes when I try to start a new file. Quicken will not print reports. PDF files will not print.
Please help. I am hoping that apple will send a "fix" soon:)

Since Appleworks and Quicken function fine on 10.4.11 for others, and so do PDF files print just fine in 10.4.11, it is unlikely an Apple fix would solve your problem, since it is not universal. Appleworks is known to have issues with more modern versions of Mac OS X than its last release when the recent documents folder in the Appleworks Data folder files get corrupted in your Users -> Documents folder.
Printing is a function of the compatibility of the said printer driver with your operating system. Locate the manufacturer's printer drivers and see if any says: 10.4.10 and higher, or 10.4.x and 10.5.x and higher. If it just says 10.4.x and higher, or 10.4.9 or less and higher, it probably has been compatible with your 10.4.11 by pure luck. Try an alternative printer driver if that is the case*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/printersx.html
If it is supposed to be compatible with 10.4.11, sometimes repairing permissions with Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility will fix issues with security updates and other current 10.4.11 updates.
If you are using an Intel Mac, and migrated from a PowerPC Mac those printer drivers, you may have to remove those printer drivers and install the Intel or Universal drivers for your Mac. The iBook G3 800 Mhz is a PowerPC Mac, so unless you are using another Mac, this would not apply to you.
Check your hard drive free space, sometimes that can cause issues. If it is more than 85% full, this number has arbitrarily been found to cause problems for Mac OS X.
Some printers won't function unless you remove their drivers from the System Preferences for printing, and add them back on.
    Hope this helps.

  • System crash after latest apple updates

Since the latest update of itunes 10.2.1 and java I am having several system freezings.
Anybody else with the same problem?

I was able to solve the problem by restarting the computer, holding down the shift key during restart, and thus starting it in safe mode. All of the icons and folders (which had been missing) reappeared on my desktop, and the CS5 programs like Photoshop again responded properly. Then I restarted it in regular mode, so that applications like the DVD player would also work normally. So far I haven't found any additional problems, but still hesitate to synch the iPad, after so many problems being reported with that!

    /Library/Components/IOXperts Philips ToUca.component/Contents/MacOS/IOXperts Philips
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder, then the Components folder.
Move these files to the Desktop: *IOXperts Philips ToUca.component/Contents/MacOS/IOXperts Philips*
    Relaunch Safari.
Check with the vendor site. You need an update for Safari 5.0.3 compatibility:

  • After latest auto update Firefox opens then locks the machine

Yesterday FF d/l'd and installed the update. When I opened the program to use it, it DID open briefly then it locked. I had to use the three finger salute to shut it down. I rebooted and got the same result 3 more times.
Fortunately I had a system restore point from earlier in the day and used that to get away from the dreaded update. I cannot get any crash data since I can't run Firefox long enough to generate the data.
I am currently using v3.6.12 successfully.
    Thank you,
    J Tinsby

hello Keith-Stone, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • Calendar crashed after latest update

My calendar crashed after latest iphone 4 update. I backed up and then restored phone to original settings as they advised but it did not fix it. Is there a way to delete it and reinstall it? I can't find another calendar app that looks very good. Everthing else has been fantastic with this phone. I'm sorry the calendar is malfunctioning as I was getting accustomed to using it!! Help.

After much research and time with Apple I discovered that resetting my phone to factory then restoring the backup, restored the error causing the calendar to open for about a second then close. My fix was to 1: restore to factory. 2: set up as a new phone on ITunes. Calendar know works fine.

  • IPhoto crash after latest update

My iPhoto crashes after the last update, when it is trying to detect faces in my new import.... The startup is normal, but when " the wheel " starts spinning behind face detection, my iMac freezes until iPhoto shuts down with a report.
What can i do to stop this ?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

    TD
