Latest Skype versions (7.2+) keep crashing for several users as reported here and elsewhere, because they try to use PCI cards (or other unrelated capture hardware) as webcams and crash instantly. My DxDiag report is here.
The proposed shared.xml editing solution mentioned in that thread does not work for everyone and when it does, it also blocks incoming video. Current available solutions are:
1. Use Skype 7.1 or older versions. I assume this is not recommended from Microsoft.
2. Remove internal PCI card before using Skype. No comments here.
3. Disable PCI card's drivers. It works, but obviously unacceptable having to disable useful, expensive user hardware.
Can't think of anything else, since Microsoft has discontinued use of skypekit.exe which might have served here. If any Skype deleloper is reading this, please consider adding in the next version an option that will fix this issue permanently.

Thank you ruwim but I can't see anything new in those links. Yes, the Hauppauge driver causes the Skype crash. That doesn't explain why Skype 7.1 and all earlier versions work perfectly fine with that very same driver. The suggestion to remove/disable the driver thus disabling the device is illogical, I'm sure you can see why. This makes more sense: Skype 7.2+ versions cause the crash.
Hauppauge adds several drivers to my system, the one causing the crash is the one highlighted: (Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video (Hybrid, DVB-T/S2+IR). They are the ones offerred for my device by Hauppauge here.
I properly uninstalled and deleted them and let Windows install their own drivers. It seems it installs the same versions and crash remains. Something I've never seen before: after cleaning the Hauppauge drivers, upon restart (when Windows installs its own) I get an 'unsigned' warning (attached) on a Hauppauge audio driver.
So, is the problem with these old Hauppauge drivers that need to be fixed/signed/updated by Hauppauge (even though they work with Skype 7.1) or is the problem with Skype 7.2 (and newer) and Microsoft doesn't seem to bother fixing because these drivers are old? Please advise, thank you.
There are no Hauppauge applications installed here, just the drivers for the PCI device.

ITunes crashes whenever "Add folder" option is used.REALLY IRRITATING.Help?

Whenever I go to the "Add Folder" option in iTunes, it crashes out and has to be ended. Also, some songs don't even show up in iTunes and it's really obnoxious. My entire collection is mp3 format, and winamp (which I actually use as a player) sees them all just fine. iTunes is missing about 10 songs though out of my total. And as I try to fix it and add a folder, it crashes out.
Also, when adding all my music at once (say if I was reloading my entire Library to my iPod for whatever reason) it only recognizes about... 3/4 of the songs in My Music folder (I have subfolders and things).
I didn't have the crashing issue with iTunes 6.
Also again, sometimes my iPod doesn't realize it's not being charged anymore, and it the battery symbol stays on the screen, draining my battery when I'm not using it. Super. Incredbily. Annoying.
Any suggestions would help loads >.<

How do i move music from my mac to my iphone when the "add to" option does not appear?

How do I add transfer music from my mac to iphone with the new itunes. The tutorial shows a "add to" icon in the upper right corner while displaying your phone content, but I do not have that option.

It works on mine try restarting itunes and computer to see if that helps.
If it does not then try the other way
Click on device name in left hand sidebar. Select Music Button at the top of the page on the left and choose what Playlists, Albums, Artists and Genres you want. Click Apply

Add-in option does not show anywhere in Outlook

Windows Vista Enterprise SP2 - 64bit : Office Pro 2007 SP2
I have downlaod and installed the add-in (admin priveledges), which seemed to go smoothly.
After starting Outlook and going to create a new message, the Add-in does not appear anywhere on the ribbon. I have checked the Trust Center and the add-in does not appear anywhere, not even the disabled section.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted etc, but still no luck.
The dll files exist in my Prog Files (x86) directory.
Does anyone have any suggestions.

Another thing to check would be whether there is the registry entry for the addin. Follow these steps:
- Run 'regedit'
- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
- See if there is a subkey under it by the name - AcrobatDotComAddin.Connect
- If yes, ensure that the 'LoadBehavior' value for the key is 3.
In case there is no entry by that name, the addin is not installed properly.
Two possible ways to try again:
- Exit all apps, unistall the addin(from control panel), reinstall the addin, start outlook.
- In case it still does not appear(after trying the above step) and you are confident of playing with the registry, you can also try adding the following entry in the registry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\AcrobatDotComAddin.Connect]
"Description"="Acrobat.com Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Beta"
"LoadBehavior"=dword:00000003
"FriendlyName"="Acrobat.com Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Beta"
Save the above text to a file(test.reg)and then double click it. This would help only if the addin is installed and you can see the files in the appropriate folder.

Hello, I know I can lock the screeen to dim it completely, but this is a REAL hassle. I would like to see this as an option in the system menu. How can we get items like this in front of Creative's development staff Without locking my 32gig player it'sis eating the battery, and that's not good.

the new skype crashes all the time it does not work. even trying to read the type gives people va headache we should all complain at once get them to fire the idiots that designed it and put it back the way it was. skype does not even connect to internet most of the time. they do not even have the staff to fix it

Black background and white text physically hurts & creates ghosting. Please add UI color toggle.

The new white text on black design physically hurts my eyes and gives very bad ghosting (i.e. persistent image like those in optical illusions that make you stare at particular color combinations and then look away). I know I'm not the only one with this issue because I've researched it in the past. Without an option to switch back to the old design (White background/black text), I'll need to delete my Spotify account and find another service. Please add an option to switch between the two (because I know many prefer black backgrounds). Myself and a host of others, however, cannot use these color combinations. Please let me know if there is a work-around; it would be much appreciated. It's basically unusable to me in it's current state. :(

Absolutely agree with the original poster. I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it. I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible. Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age! I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway. iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text? It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit). Run dxdiag.exe (Start - Run or Win key +R) then press enter or click "OK". Once the diagnostics completes, "Save All information..." to a text file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.
(i.e. compress DxDiag.txt ---> DxDiag.zip)

Please add "push to wake" for smart covers

Please add an option to push the home button to wake an ipad using a smart cover, similar to how I wake my phone. currently everytime i pick up my I pad it wakes up then shuts down as the cover slides around.

Please add a simple feature.. well two.
1) Please allow us to turn off auto-dim. I want my screen on my Pixi to be full blast. You give us these wonderful high-res screens, and they can only be used to their fullest potential during bright lights? Nooo, I want to use 100% brightness (no dimming) all the time. Just give us the option to do so.
2) As an option or whatever, if we put AIM/Yahoo/Gmail accounts on our phone, don't let the contacts show up in the Contacts app. Give us the option to go into the list, and link the contact to the username they own. I have several hundred contacts on yahoo, and I had to create a seperate name with people who sign on all the time just so I didn't have a billion contacts in the contact app.
I'm sure these things aren't hard to impliment. It would be so greatly appreciated if you could do this. It's been talked a lot over at PreCentral.net.

Please help -- .options method not working in MAC IE 5.0

My requirement is to dynamically populate a drop down box (combo box) in a JSP Page, using a javascript function, with some values. This happens on click of some button.
I am using the below function to populate the drop down box. This runs fine in Windows IE, but in MAC, i get a javascript error saying " 'options' is not an object". Can anybody please tell me how to go about this? Is there any other way in which i could populate a drop down box? I need this to work in both Windows and MAC. Please help!
Function used:

I can't sync my iphone. Sync options does not have add device. ?

I have a sync account set up. I have firefox sync on my iPhone. When I go into sync option there is no add device option available. I just upgraded my foxfire to the newest version.

It's not an official app, and it may be a fake app, unfortunately. I searched for Firefox Sync on the App Store and couldn't find anything.
Please, also note that there is no Firefox browser for the iPhone, because of the limitations that Apple imposes on the iPhone browsers.
