Skype crashes randomly Windows 8.1 Pro

I'm having an issue where my skype is crashing randomly on my computer at work.
It's making it very frustrating to use. My guess is it's a video driver issue but I downloaded a new driver for that already.
Here is the information from my event viewer.

safari 6 crashes randomly on my macbook pro 13 mid 2012 with mountain lion. next to that, animations are choppy/laggy..

I'm getting the same problem. Safari closes, presents no crash dialog, and reopens the tabs I had up when i open it back up. I'd suspect people think they are triggering this themselves.
Getting this in console: Safari[2066]: Received an invalid message from the web process with message ID 323002f

Skype is crashing because of conflict with AVerMedia application. I guess that uninstalling this application will solve the issue.

  • Skydrive.exe crashes on Windows 8.1 Pro RTM

I'm trying to get Skydrive working on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro RTM.  When I go to Skydrive (show my files in skydrive) via the "metro" app, the view is empty.  When I look at the skydrive folder in explorer.exe, it's also
    empty.
I went to a command prompt running as an administrator and ran "skydrive /shutdown" followed by "skydrive" in order to reboot skydrive.  When I attempt to start skydrive, I get two entries in the Event Log.  The second event
viewer message refers to a file named Report.wer that contains info about the crash.  I've attached the contents of both eventvwr entries and the contents of Report.wer.
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Skydrive Pro being installed by the Office 2013 installer that comes from my Office 365 subscription.
Any thoughts on how to fix skydrive.exe?
    Thanks,
    -Ben

    I think I found a fix!
I went looking at %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\SkyDrive\logs and found some messages in the SyncEngine*.etl files in that dir.  (BTW, Visual Studio wants to open those *.etl files but it doesn't show anything.  It's easier to open these
files in Notepad and wade through the mess of hex.  Eventually, you'll come to readable text.)  The messages were:
    1) Failed to show/hide SkyDrive Shell Items, error code: 0x80070002
    2) Unable to correctly read and parse the ClientPolicy.ini file
A quick search brought up some posts complaining about the Win-X shortcut being broken.  (link)
I tried my Win-X key and it was indeed not working.  That forum discussion led to
another forum post about Skydrive generating a lot of extra empty Skydrive folders in the user profile dir.
These posts suggested some commands to run from an Administrative command prompt.

  • Remote Desktop to servers crashes on Windows 8.1 Pro

    Hi All,
I have done a search for this issue previously, but have been unable to find any information relating to my specific issue.
I have a Windows 8.1 Lennovo workstation with a pretty fresh install, and about 50% of the time I connect to our Windows 2003/2008R2 servers using remote desktop connection, it hangs, and tells me it has stopped responding.
I then have to force close the application and try again.
Having a look in the event viewer, I can see the below entries:
First, an event ID 1001, which is Windows Error reporting, containing the below info:

Interestingly enough, I had the same issue on my previous Fujitsu PC, which was also running Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I suspect it is some application I have installed on the machine causing the issue, but I don't have anything unusual installed.
If the above sheds any light on this, I will thank you in advance for any advice you can offer.
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, since system is just fresh installed, it should not other application cause this problem. It is most probably caused by Certificate or Firewall problem, please try to disable Firewall or upgrade your RDP Certificate for test.

In addition, for RDP client crash problem, I would like to suggest you follow Andre's suggestion in the link below to colect RDP crash dump file, then upload the dump file to your OneDrive and post the sharing link here.

My Skype has never crashed until this update. I would delete skype and reinstall it and then it would work again for the rest of the night, until the next time I loaded it up to use again. Now that isn't working anymore. I did the Event Viewer thing people have been telling others to do here, but I have no idea how to read what's wrong and how I can fix it.

  • Skype Crashes Randomly on Startup

Hi Ive had this problem with the desktop version of Skype on Windows 8.1 for a while. Skype crashes when I wake the computer up from sleep, or when I reboot the computer and usually takes a few crashes before it starts working again.
I have been getting the same crash report for each one:

I guess that the issue is with switching graphics.

  • Skype crashing pc, windows 10

Every time I open Skype, it'll start doing the entire Not Responding, but then it completely crashes my entire pc. I can't ctrl-alt-del into task manager, can't kill it by closing it, nothing. It just makes everything crash, including the entire windows process. No other app makes my computer behave this way. I can replicate it 100% of the time just by opening Skype.

There is no record of Skype crashing and being that you have an AMD R series card the compatibility issue is with the video drivers.   Since you upgraded to Windows 10 your options for alternate drivers are limited.  The best option may end up being to downgrade to an earlier release of the Skype Desktop application. You can try the solutions listed here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-BSODs-very-often/m-p/4066488/highlight/true#M358889 You can also try the Skype Translator Modern app as an alternative: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/skype-translator-preview/9wzdncrdtbw7

  • Skype Crashes Randomly

This is the error from Event Viewer when it crashes. It did this a awhile ago and how I fixed it was going into my computer and changing Skype to SkypeOld and basically restarting Skype. Now it's doing it again. I didn't update/change any software, so I'm confused on what is making this error pop up. It usually starts once, and I won't see it for a few days, then I'll get it twice, now I'm getting it almost as soon as I start Skype.

  • Frequent aero crashes in Windows 7 - Macbook Pro 2010

    Hi all,
has anyone come across this issue?
I have had continuous Aero crashes in my Windows 7 x64 installation and the new Macbook Pro 2010 with nvidia 330m.
During window resizing, video playback, aero and the whole desktop window manager will frequently crash. I have reinstalled twice the operating system, installed alternate nvidia forceware drivers (from laptopvideo2go.com) with no success.
When such a crash occurs the following error message is recorded in the Windows Event Log, Application category: 'The Desktop Window manager has encountered a fatal error'.
    Any feedback will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Theo

I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to paste over! Here's what happens to me. I've got 257.15 downloaded and extracted. Then I go here:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/enhancer
I select driver version 257.15, set it for performance, select a number of different options on the page, most of which mean nothing to me, and download a ile named nv4_disp.inf. The problem is that I can't "replace" that file because that file doesn't exist in the driver installation folder. There are a lot of inf files, but none of them have that name.
I've tried to install directly from the generated inf file by selecting update driver on the display adapter, then going manually to the inf file. It works up to the point where it shows me the 330M as compatible hardware, but when I try to install it, it says it encountered an error while attempting to install it, "The system cannot find the file specified."
So what's up with my inf file? I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong there.
One thing that may complicate this is that I uninstalled and deleted the Boot Camp driver while following another set of instructions on how to fix this issue. Do I need to reinstall that driver, by chance? Then upgrade from that?
Any tips on how to recover and get back working again (preferably with updated less crash prone drivers!) would be hugely appreciated. I do development on Windows 7 and have been having a LOT of crash issues related to this!

The latest version of Skype or one version before doesn't want to open on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013). I read all the previous threads about the problem. But they did help with solving mine unfortunately.
    Hopefully somebody can help me.
