Skype Crashes Video Card on Call

Hi,
Recently, whenever I make or receive a call on Skype, the monitors connected to my graphics card go black, but I can still hear audio coming from the computer, and the computer is unresponsive.
I have a Radeon R7 260X, and I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the drivers multiple times.
I also have uninstalled & reinstalled Skype.
Also, I do not have a webcam plugged in.
Here is my DxDiag file.

I unplugged my two monitors and called via Skype again and it did work. I also tried installing a previous driver for my card which did work, but does not have certain features that I need.
Thanks

  • Skype call crashes video card driver

So today i tried making a skype call on a Win 7 (64bit) pc and my monitor went black, can't say what changes caused this to happen last time used before changing Video Card a month ago, cause i use my phone version more often. So i run ATI Sapphire R7 260x, latest drivers up to date. All windows drivers up to date. Maybe someone has a sollution. Tried to look up in search but only one topic like this and it's quite out of date. Any questions about system i can answer.

Try the solutions in this thread:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Constant-Crashes-since-AMD-Driver-Update-Skype-...
It is ultimately going to be either a configuration of the drivers, a catalyst issue or due to those particular drivers.  I've been wanting to try out ATI cards again but similar issues such as this have haunted me in all my ATI purchases.  I've always found the key thing is to stick with a driver version that is most stable possibly holding off on the latest and greatest drivers if a workaround isn't available.

  • Skype crashes when in audio call

I have problems with my skype crashing when in a skype to skype call (probably any type of call), no video involved. Im using 6.21.0.104 (latest version availible) on a windows 7 home premium PC. I have made the encrypted logfiles (3 created but not attached here - How do i send these files to skype staff??).
What i have tryed so far that did NOT work:
    Restart computer
Restart skype (both cause of crash and manually)
Delete the Skype folder in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\
    Reinstalled
Uninstalled and installed again AFTER removing C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Skype
Checked for drivers for audio, video and webcam - i have latest installed

  • Skype crashing on receiving/ starting call [W8.1]

Hey there Skype community, I've been having an issue lately causing my skype to crash every time I receive a call or start a call, this issue is only occuring on my computer (laptop one is working all fine). I have tried most things and read through quite a few topics here looking for the issue but can't seem to find what's wrong, so I am seeking for help here.
I've added a copy of my DxDiag txt in below as I saw it was being requested perviously on several other topics.
If you need any further information please request and I'll be more than happy to provide it.
Thank you for your time and I hope we can come to a solution.
    Some info:
I am having this issue since the start of the year.
It only appears to be happening on my desktop, not laptop or telephone.
I never had issues related to this before, some minor things but never consistent crashes.
    Thanks in advance
    Yours sincerely, Brian.

Your issue might be similar to this case:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/New-skype-crashes/m-p/3581133#M294654
Look for the AMDh264Enc32.dll file in this folder,
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\
and try to rename tis file to something different.
Also you have a screen-capture-recorder application installed. I guess that this virtual video capture device is installed with ShareX application, and the installation went wrong. I would strongly recommend to uninstall this faulty application.

Try to revert your AMD Radeon R7 200 Series driver to the previous 14.10.1006 version:

  • Skype Crashes Video Driver

I'm having trouble getting skype to recognize my Logitech HD Webcam C310. When I go to Call > Audio Settings then click on "Video Settings" (because the "Video" option is grayed out in the drop down) none of my web cams will load. I tested with another program to verify the cameras worked and they did. I am currently running a Windows 7 64 bit computer with the latest version of Skype 6.16.60.105.
    Here is what happens
    1. Go to video settings as described screen flashes (graphics driver is restarting) then no cameras load in the black screen previews
    2. Pop-up message from taskbar saying graphics driver has stopped and been successfully restarted
    2. Quit Skype try again computer will blue screen with an error caused by the dxgkrnl.sys driver
My Skype has been working fine until I updated it recently (as in a couple days ago because I finally remembered to update Skype) and it no longer worked.
Things I have tried and can hopefully be eliminated
    1. Downgrading to older version of Skype
    2. Updating graphics card drivers via Windows Update and the manufacturer (most likely not the card because like I said it was working fine until I updated Skype)
    3. Not a heat issue. My computer runs no hotter than 29 degrees Celcius (only saying this because it was a suggestion from another site for a dxgkrnl.sys driver related problem)
    4. Not a bad card. It's not even a year old and works fine otherwise its an AMD Radeon HD 7800 series
    System Specs
    AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.30 GHz
    8.00 GB DDR3 RAM
Other things that are probably not important
Recently set up a local server on my computer which I read can conflict with Skype and how it uses network ports. However there is not a port confliction and it should work fine and I highly doubt that had anything to do with the display problems.
My only conclusion is that it's a problem with the latest version of Skype or there is some other driver that needs updating.
Any help is appreciated. I am very computer savy so if there is any additional information you need I can get it for you. (ie event viewer logs, BSOD errors/parameters, ect)
    Thanks in advanced

I imagine 3d stereoscopic being enabled or playing Nvidia gamewoks-based games probably use that as a dependency.  You can always run msconfig from the run box and uncheck things that load at startup.  Since that file is not in use all the time something is loading it in memory then the crash occurs because it probably get unexpectedly unloaded.  Many times this can be due to your sleep settings in Window or your BIOS (or BIOS issues), and  other times mix/match driver issues.  You might consider doing a clean install of the Nvidia drivers (checking the box for clean install) and installing only the basic components (none of the add-ons like shadowplay) and see if that helps.I have already clean installed my nvidia drivers, I used DDU to wipe them. I also only ever install the driver itself, and uncheck all other options.I have my power options set to Never sleep, and 20minutes to turn off the display.I'm not exactly sure what startup options I should be looking for in msconfig, I think I've already unchecked everything I don't need. It's just strange how this only just recently started happening, I didn't have an issue before. I also don't recall updating anything recently unless it was done through Windows Updates.

  • G505s random crashes, video card issue?

    HI there,
For the past 4-5 months since I bought this laptop about 9 months ago it seems the freeze whenever I am ether using a web browser or watching a video. The screen will become unresponsive and there will be some crackling audio before it ether restarts itself or I have to hold the power button until it kills it ( I cringe every time haha). Anyways I think it may have something to do with the videocard. I can play most games for many hours without a problem or crash. I don't think I have ever had a game crash, it has always been during youtube videos or just browsing. Spotify also has caused a crash once, may be due to hardware acceleration? Sometimes after a crash or just randomly the computer will not shut down, simply stay on with a black screen after I click shutdown.
    Thing I have tried
    Turned off hardware acceleration
    Updated video drivers
    Reverted to old video drivers
    underclocked the cpu
    underclocked the gpu
    checked solution center (everything passes)
    switched browsers
    updated bios to 3.0
All to no avail, I still get crashes about once a week.
Things I am trying now, but don't know if they will work
    Turned off bluetooth
    Turned off secure boot
I understand the chances of me finding a solution, or even getting a response are slim. But I figured I would try before I cash in my warranty.
    So, any ideas?

    What os you have?
Check hard disc status with crystal disc info and error scan hddtune.
Try ubuntu 14.04.1 after booting live cd/dvd do memory test.Check if problems repeating in linux distro.

  • Will I fry my video card playing Call of Duty?

Looking for any input I can get. My macbook pro is 6mo. old, I'm working offshore and downloaded call of duty to burn freetime. However now that I'm out here I realized that the recommended graphics card for the game is not what I have. The card in my macbook pro is a Intel Graphics 3000 384 MB, They recommend a nvidia gforce or ATI radeon....Am I ok to use what I have without frying my card

It will probably get hot, and the fan(s) will spin up faster. But before it gets damaged, it will shut down to protect itself.
Macs of all kinds now set the fan speed(s) based on temperature readings from sensors inside the chassis.
Don't block the air exit across the back. To have it throw heat out the bottom, it requires at least 3/4 inch (20mm) air space before a convection current can form.

  • IMac video card is busted again. Options?

I have a 27" iMac purchased in 2011. Since this January I've had to take it to Apple Retail Store for video card replacement twice, and now it's busted again. I don't want them to put in another refurbished card and likely break down on me in a short time. So far it's costed me 6 days without my computer which I use for work.
My question is what options do I have to prevent having this problem again and again?
I do get free repairs via Apple Care but I shouldn't have to deal with so much down time. I feel that I should be compensated somehow, or at least be guaranteed a new, not refurbished, video card.

first, call AppleCare and complain in a polite manner so they can document the situation, also have them make an appointment for you in the genius bar and have them give you the case #.  Then go to the appointment and ask for a new one after you plead your case about how much you have been inconvenienced.  I think you have a pretty strong case.

  • Compaq 6005 Micro Tower graphics/video card

Having issues with PC.  Monitor screen splits whatever is open and it appears on both the top and bottom of the screen.  It has also had instance where large protion of the screen was black.  When this happens, can't get to the toolbar to do anything.  Computer freezes and only way to restart is by powering down.  Changed monitor and cables but still happening.  Thinking it must be graphic/video card.  Called HP and the guy said it was on the board and can't be replaced but everything I have read says card can be replaced.  Device Manager says it is a NVIDIA Quadro NVS295.  Drivers are up to date.
So, can I replace the card or not?  If so, which one do you recommend?
    Thanks in advance.
