Skype crashing when receiving calls or making calls (update 7.2)

Never had this issue but Skype crashes when I attempt to call somebody or recieve a call. When I accept a call it works for around 30 seconds before cutting out and similar for making a call. My friend had a similar issue with his skype freezing his computer when calling somebody, turns out it was a power issue with his gpu and motherboard, Problem with mine is that it's a laptop and I don't have access to the gpu to tamper with. Faulting application name: Skype.exe, version: 7.2.0.103, time stamp: 0x54ef0c1d

  • Skype Crashes when using video connection

Skype crashes when I attempt to use video.
I can establish a voice connection with my contact, and all works fine if we are not using video. The moment I enable video in the session, Skype crashes.  This is repeatable. The other end does not need to use video, just when I enable it at my end.
I have gone into settings and the video seems to be working fine with my iSight built in camera.
I am using OS X Yosemite latest version, and also the latest version of Skype.  I downloaded a fresh copy of Skype, and the problem is the same. The camera is the built in iSight camera on my mid-2007 iMac.

The same happens to me. Voice-only calls work just fine, but the moment I try to enable video - Skype 7.0. (653) crashes.
I use iMac7,1 (Mid2007) with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Any help would be appreciated (logs attached). Jacek

  • Skype crashes when I start or receive a call

Hello, I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 and now Skype crashes everytime I make or join a call. I've tried updating my drivers and reinstalling skype. If someone could help that'd be great. I would really like to make calls with my new computer.

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

This is extremely frustrating. Can someone please assist me with this issue.

I imagine 3d stereoscopic being enabled or playing Nvidia gamewoks-based games probably use that as a dependency.  You can always run msconfig from the run box and uncheck things that load at startup.  Since that file is not in use all the time something is loading it in memory then the crash occurs because it probably get unexpectedly unloaded.  Many times this can be due to your sleep settings in Window or your BIOS (or BIOS issues), and  other times mix/match driver issues.  You might consider doing a clean install of the Nvidia drivers (checking the box for clean install) and installing only the basic components (none of the add-ons like shadowplay) and see if that helps.I have already clean installed my nvidia drivers, I used DDU to wipe them. I also only ever install the driver itself, and uncheck all other options.I have my power options set to Never sleep, and 20minutes to turn off the display.I'm not exactly sure what startup options I should be looking for in msconfig, I think I've already unchecked everything I don't need. It's just strange how this only just recently started happening, I didn't have an issue before. I also don't recall updating anything recently unless it was done through Windows Updates.

  • Skype crashes when I try making a call

I have a problem with my Skype client, as the title says.I'm actually not sure this belongs here since I have the normal Skype (the one you download from the website, not desktop version).Basically, almost every time I try calling someone (or answering a call), Skype just crashes. After it does, I just relaunch it and I can call people and answer them normally. This is something that's never happened to me before, I think it started happening about a week or 2 weeks ago, not sure, and I have no idea how to fix it. For the record, Skype itself works perfectly fine, no sound issues, no connection issues - it works the same as before, but now it just crashes almost every time I try calling or answering a call. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that unfortunately did not work.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • Skype crashes when I answer a call or when someone...

    Hi,
Whenever I answer a call or whenever someone answers my call, Skype stops working. I have tried with both people & the call test service both with the same result.
I have tried reinstalling skype with no effect. I have been able to make calls with people so long as they call me when my skype isnt running and I turn it on when they are mid call, then I can answer them. But otherwise, it just keeps crashing.
    Kinda getting frustrating now.
    Thanks in advance

Are you sure? There should be.
Your GeForce drivers are out of date:
    http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers/results/82606
Is your Samson Meteor Mic actually a headset or is it appearing as a set of speakers as well when it shouldn't? You ought to delete it if it's a mic and it's installed itself as a speaker as well. Just try removing it and relaunching Skype - I don't like what it's doing and it might be screwing around with the system.
    Try resetting Skype settings:
    1) Exit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to terminate Skype.exe.
    2) Open explorer, search for %appdata%. 3) Find the Skype Folder.
    4) Rename this folder to something like Skype_Old
    5) Now search for %temp%\skype.
    6) Delete the folder entitled 'DbTemp'
    7) Restart your computer, then launch Skype
You can still get back your conversation history. This data is located in the folder you renamed earlier.
