    Hi!
I receive that message in  17-01-2014
You don't seem to have used any of your Skype Credit in a while. It becomes inactive if you haven't used it in 180 days. But don't worry - once it becomes inactive, you can reactivate it whenever you're ready to use it. Simply sign into your account online and follow the option to Reactivate credit.
    Your account details:
    Skype Name: facebook:rafael2000_1

On 24/01/2014, I reactive my account and skype sent a new skype_name to my email. (the same and unique email registered)
But this  account don't have a history and my balance is BRL0
How I do to redeem my credits for that account? BRL22.15

  • Re: My inactive skype credit cannot be reactivated

As per other posters, I have received the email prompting me to reactivate my credit.  But yet again the email is misleading (I've seen this before, some time ago & still not rectified).  It states:
"But don't worry - once it becomes inactive, you can reactivate it whenever you're ready to use it. Simply sign into your account online and follow the option to Reactivate credit.".
Firstly, if I log in to my Skype account direct from Skype.com, I do not see any option to 'Reactivate'!  I then searched forums and found this link: https://secure.skype.com/portal/settings/credit/reactivate.  If I login via this I do get 'Reactivate Skype Credit' at top of screen with a back (left facing) arrow next to it which appears to be the clickable option.  However, if I click on this all it does is takes me back to a page saying "Your Skype Credit becomes inactive in nn day(s)."  I first assumed there was a time delay on this, but no.  I've logged in a few days later and still does not appear to be reactivated.
If Skype send an email, it would help if the instructions bore some relation to the reality!  Despite numerous attempts, I still do not appear to have reactivated my credit.  PLEASE advise how one can actually do this.
(I am mindful of one of designer Dieter Rams's famous 'ten commandments': "Good design is self-explanatory".  In this respect, Skype's website/process certainly isn't good design).

This is really interesting. It seems as if Microsoft/Skype deleted my old posts, or made them difficult to find, and forgot to take me off my own thread. I created this thread sometime ago to find a solution to my inactive skype credit.
I was able to get my credits reactivated, but to the people that asked me how to do it, I couldn't give them an answer. I received an "update internet explorer" post. But at that time, I didn't do any such thing since I do not understand how IE and Skype are related. Nevertheless my credits seemed to reappear. I have since let the credits go back into inactive mode out curiosity. I've logged my post and saved to my records this time, so hopefully, it will stay up, and this problem can keep receiving exposure.
As I typed this I remember now that I posted Skype's terms of conditions. Here is section 9.2 from their February 25, 2015 version of Skype's terms and conditions. It reads:
"9.2 Inactive Skype Credit. If you do not use your Skype Credit for a period of 180 days, (including Skype Credit that has been allocated to you by a Skype Manager administrator or another Skype user) Skype will place your Skype Credit on inactive status. You can reactivate the Skype Credit by following the reactivation link in My Account at https://secure.skype.com/account/credit-reactivate. Reactivated Skype Credit is not refundable."
So, if you haven't tried to go to that link, I would do that first. Hope this helps.

  • Why does Skype make your credit inactive?

I was just curious on if anyone knew why Skype would de-activate your credit after 180 days.  That irks me quite a bit seeing how I paid for those credits.  If I just wanted to throw money money away I could do it faster if I walked over to at trashcan.
I have periods of time when I am active on skype for various reasons (interviews, traveling in a different country, poor cell phone reception, etc.) and other times when I am inactive.  For this reason I decided to buy Skype Credit so I can have a form of communication incase my cell phone doesn't work.  I almost lost that credit if I didn't sign in today.  Shouldn't the policy be once paid for that you always have?  What if I am in a situation where my phone craps out (Reception, breaks, battery runs out) and I have to make a very important call and I login to Skype to do so only to find out I'm screwed on that end as well?
I am just curious on your thoughts and was wondering if anyone can provide an explanation on this poor business practice (I'm a little jaded at this point).

I agree.  This policy is extremely annoying for consumers.  I think that it would help people if Skype were to give a reason why they insist on inactivating credit after 180 days and sending you endless emails about it and generally wasting their consumers' time.

  • How to get around credit inactivity?

I purchased Skype Credit to be used in the event that I lose or break, or need to call it to find it. Today I get an email saying that I need to make a call or send an SMS to keep my credit active.
So I need to SPEND the credit I BOUGHT to be able to use it?
It feels like some sick twisted version of "use it or lose it," and it feels unethical.
Is there a way to keep my credit without throwing it away for some petty phone call?
    Thanks in advance,
    C

In the history of money. money does expire.  If a country is changing over theor currency (for example to Euro) and you don't go the bank to swap out your money for that currency in the allotted timeframe, the money becomes worthless.  If you don't use your Skype credit via a transaction once at least every 6 months the credit become inactive.  It's similar to banks that deactivate your bank account if there is no activity in 2 years.  Major credit card gift cards also deactivate after non-use and impose fees monthly until the remaining balance is gone.  Luckily in almost all countries you can reactivate your Skype credit rather easily:
    https://secure.skype.com/account/credit-reactivate
This will reset that 6-month timer.

  • Credit inactive?

    Credit INACTIVE!?!?!
I've got this message below. This is incredible!
To have some credit when it might need it, I purchase some credit and now you say it will become inactive? Why is that? Is it to heavy for you to hold 10 EURO? Ok then send it back but DO NOT CREATE A PROBLEM TO A USER

You don't seem to have used any of your Skype Credit in a while. It becomes inactive if you haven't used it in 180 days. • Yet another theft of Skype credit

Been Skyping for many years but I've had enough of this kind of credit theft. I've lost the majority of another credit purchase. Skype used to give you a warning you when you needed to make a call etc to maintain your credit, but not anymore. And of course, it's virtually impossible to contact anyone about it.
At what point did these corporations think they have the right to unilaterally prevent customers from using the service they have actually paid for?
That was the last credit I'll be buying from this company.

  • Credit inactive before 180 days

I just received an e-mail stating that my Skype credit will become inactive in 7 days. This is the first notice I receive. For my surprise I just logged into my account and foud out that my credit is already inactive. My last call was on 26th January 2015 so my credit should be active until the 25th of July, in 7 days just as the e-mail said. I would appreciate Skype following their own policy and keeping my credit active until the date it's supposed to be. Thanks.

Hello Norman,Thanks for your reply. My account shows that my credit is inactive as you can see in the following screenshot.

  • RE What happened to my previous Skype credit?

I had a previous Skype credit of $17.85. Beside that purchase in my "Purchase History" it now shows "Delivered." What does "Delivered" mean? I know I did not use up all of that $17.85. So did I just lose it? Do Skype credits expire? I thought I read that they "never expire." I have another entry in my "Purchase History" that shows "Refunded." I understand what that means! But "Delivered" doesn't sound like "Refunded" to me. Did I lose the $17.85?

    Hi,
I checked your account and saw that you already managed to reactivate your Skype Credit.
For future reference, the credit balance in your account becomes inactive 180 days after the last chargeable use of your Skype Credit, as set out in our Terms of Use.
To prevent this, just send an SMS or make a call before the 180 days are up to extend the expiration period (or you can always reactivate it like you did).
    Hope this helps!

  • You do not have any Skype Credit to reactivate

I got an email that my credit is inactive and that I can reactivate it. But when I go to the reactivation web page, I ge the message "You do not have any Skype Credit to reactivate". My Skype account is [Redacted for privacy]

Hi, Peter-Konstanz, and welcome to the Community,
When I read messages such as yours, I pause to wonder, might you have another Skype account to which the e-mail was referring?  Please double-check that the account dashboard you signed on to is indeed the account where the credit was purchased and that needs to be re-activated.  I realize this sounds ridiculous, however I have done things like this before -- so I thought to ask.
