Skype on my desk top freezed and cannot change user or input a password to open skype to make calls?

What version of Windows are you on (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 )? Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

Desk Top Locked ?

This is not exactly Finder and Dock question but there seemed to be no where else to ask. I suspect this is an easy fix and hope so. On my Desk Top, I cannot move the files around. I click and hold to move them but I get one of those Circles with a line through it. Also, for an email message, I cannot select a file from the desktop but I ca do a drag and drop of the file into the message. Finally, I cannot do a drag and drop from a CD/DVD onto the desk Top but the file will go into other files. I think I may have hit some type of lock command. But the Info on the Desk Top does not have the little box for LOCK checked.
The program had been working fine before.

Thanks but how do I get to Desk Top Preferences? I guess a more fundamental problem is that I don't know how to open the Desk Top from the situation it is now in. If I click on Desk Top it has me Choose Application and then it shows "Utilities" on the selection list. How do I open it? If I have two fingers on the pad and click, again it asks what to open with.

I cannot install app in macpro, i cannot remember my password. Is there a default password that I can use to unlock it?

I cannot install any apps in my macbook and even get an update coz i cannot input my password. as far as I know i don't have any password in my computer coz i'm the one using it.

To administer the computer - and to install new apps - you must be using an adminstrator account and use the adminstrator to do things such as installing apps, etc.
Which version of OS X are you running? Note that iOS is not the same as OS X.

When I go to BlackBerry desk top tells me to enter pass word. I do not have one only for the lock code when my unit is not in use. I tryed it it did not work. after ten tries it scrubbed my unit thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You've stumbled into one of the trickiest things about BBs. For security, you can assign a device lock password that, if your BB is lost or stolen, will take care of wiping the BB clean once someone fails to enter the password correctly too many times. That password is also, as you learned, required when you tether to the PC.
The thing that happened is that the password you typed on the PC keyboard was not the same as you assigned to the BB lock. Even though you thought you were typing the right keys, you were not. The BB keyboard is so small that each key must do many different functions, and they change based on the various key modifiers (alt, caps, etc.). As a result, when you created the password on the BB, you thought you were typing one thing when you actually were typing something completely different. When you tethered to the PC, you typed the same thing that you thought you always type on the BB keyboard...but it was not correct as the PC keyboard and the BB keyboard are different. After you failed 10 times, it dutifully wiped away all of your personal data (that security measure thing). One thing you could have done, before reaching the 10th try, was to untether and enter the password on the BB keyboard -- that would have reset the counter back to zero (it's the same counter regardless of input method).
So, when you next create a password, pay very close attention to the actual characters that get sent when you do so...you will be surprised by what the actual character is. You should get just a moment to see each character in the clear before it changes to a *.
Now the sad part -- there is no way to "undo" what has happened. If that were possible, then that security measure wouldn't be worth much. Where you are now is "starting over". But at least now you have learned (the very hardest way, I admit) one of the tricky things about owning a BB.

Hi Sonia,
While transferring Adobe from laptop to PC the licensing files got corrupt and the right way to use Adobe Applications is to install first as transferring from a different machine can give you problems.
You can try steps from this article if that helps otherwise you have to reinstall and manually delete some files , everything is mentioned.

Cannot recover Desk top Data

I have an IIIxe which quit working 2 weeks ago. Before I could get a new one my hard drive on my computer crashed. I have recovered the address files and down loaded Palm 4.01. I cannot get my newly loaded Palm desk top to read the recovered files. I have names and phone numbers that I desperatly need to recover.

Are these files from the same version of Palm desktop that you are installing? They must be from the exact same version number or the files will not work.
You are going to need to rename the files. Are these files only named .bak or are there files with the .dat extension? The .bak file is a backup of the .dat file. The .dat file is the primary file that stores the data for Palm desktop. If you only have.bak files, rename those to .dat and then open Palm desktop to see if the data is restored.
Here is the procedure for recovering data.
You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. Using 6.2 the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. For 6.2, the files are located in the username folder in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.

You have one and possibly two problems.
First problem you tried to open the iPhoto library with iTunes and appeared to have set iTunes as the default app for iPhoto Libraries. That isn;t going to work.
To fix that select the iPhoto library in the Finder and do a File->Get Info. In the middle of the Info window you'll see Open With dropbox. Click on that and select iPhoto, then select the Change All button
This will get iPhoto back as the default app to open iPhoto Libraries.
Double click the library now and if nothing else is wrong iPhoto will open the library. If it does do as Michael wrote and go to the Applications folder and drag iPhoto to the dock to remake the shortcut.
However since you started this thread by saying that the iPhoto shortcut in the dock had a question mark on it it is possible that iPhoto is missing from your Applications folder. If it is post back.

Thank you for your response. My operating system is XP. When I try to open a pfd document I just get a series of letters and symbols in a dialog box. The top of the box says "select the encoding that makes your document readable". I can choose Windows, MS-Dos, or other (there is a long list to choose from). None seem to make a difference. If I save the document to my desk top I can right click on it and choose an option "Open with AdobeReader 9" and it opens fine.

Cannot log into my app world via desk top through the BB website

Alrighty let the fun/frustration begin.
First,upgraded OS on PB and rebooted desktop and PB.
All seems to be well. I find ONE app I'm intersted in EE101.
So I Log into BB Appworld that is sat., then I'm told to connect my device to proceed and asks for a password.
Submit password. It will not recognize my PB ID password even though I made a password change and changed the recovery question and noticed the new recovery question is now on my desk top App World log in .......
OK now what.

Drag the Word icon back to where it belongs.
Applications > Microsoft Office 2011 > Put Word there.
I'm assuming you have Office 2011. If you have 2008 there should be a similar location to put Word.

Forgive what may be a dumb question on my part, but you've confirmed that you're typing the Apple ID correctly? Any difference, even an extra space, will cause an error.
If that doesn't help, post back with full details about your setup and the problem, including any error message, and someone may be able to offer additional suggestions.
