Skype does not work

Hi everybody,
My Skype stopped working since about three weeks. It happened after they “improved” my experience. Ever since that time I started getting a blue screen with three useless options. I tried many different things including system updates and re-installing Skype. So far no results.
Any help would be appreciated.

I personally have never had any major issues upgrading from release to release in all the years I've used Skype and I run a lot of different computers but maybe I'm just very lucky.  Can you provide specifics on the problem you are having?  
Did you try upgrading or uninstalling/reinstalling the latest version (Skype 6.16)?  Are you getting a blue screen, if you still are, did you try the loginfixcleanup file.  If you have and it continues to provide you with a Skype bluescreen, try updating to the latest IE.

Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

    The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

    FIX: 
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.
    If that doesnt pass,

    As a suggestion I'd put the Text_io segments into their own begin - exception - end sub-blocks within the main code. This way if Text_io does raise an exception you can catch it earlier as it may be able to recover - That is if it is a text_io exception.
    Other than that you;ll have to step through in Debug.

    the new skype crashes all the time it does not work. even trying to read the type gives people va headache we should all complain at once get them to fire the idiots that designed it and put it back the way it was. skype does not even connect to internet most of the time. they do not even have the staff to fix it

  • My microphone does not work with Skype...

    ...but it works with everything else!  I have tried every test, every setting, downloaded new drivers, restarted the computer, followed every Skype how-to to check every device setting and nothing works. 
    I am using a Digital Innovations ChatCam model # 4310300. As I mentioned I have used it with Microsoft Movie Maker and the sound is fine, but with Skype it does not work, I just tried using the echo test call and nothing.
    Any help is appreciated!

    There is always the possibility that there is an oddity in how the camera registers as an audio device or something is missing from the drivers being used that generates a compatibility issue with Skype.  Have you tried using a virtual driver to try to resolve the issue?  Try using Manycam ( http://manycam.com ).  If the camera part works, you don't have to use the virtual cam part, but you might want to try the virtual microphone is has and associated that with your webcam mic.  This way you can see if the manycam virtual mic will allow the audio to be registered in Skype.

    There was a issue with school computers being used to spy on kids in their bedrooms, Mac's were involved.
    So Apple most likely tightened the API's to only select, trustworthy companies as not to abuse the web cam access priviledge.
    If you want to use a web cam with these other programs and services, you'll likely have to buy a third party USB one, so you can manually disconnect it.
    There isn't a way to physcially disconnect the built in web cam on Mac's without busting open the machine.

    I own a skype number. It does not work and I am paying for a service I do not receive with no way of contacting anyone to resolve this.     Hi,In Windows XP 64bit my microphone does not work, tried it in Ventrilo 2., Skype and even in the Windows Recorder. The computer don't detect any sound. Offcourse?I have selected the microphone in the recordering section in the Windows volume panel and the volume at maxium. Also in the volume panel under playback the microphone is not mute, set to max volume. I have also installed WinXP 32bits and here it works OK with exactly the same settings. Thats why I think it is because of my Soundcard driver, I have installed the latest driver from this site. I have a SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatality. Is there anyone with a X-Fi soundcard with the same problem or anyone where the microphone works in WinXP 64bit's Or is it a known problem?Please help me

    Hi Theicewarrior,?Creative support has been aware of this issue for quite some time (6+ months, maybe even a year). The 4GB+?RAM driver/addressing issues are not a priority or they would have been addressed quite some time ago.
    Presumably this is due to functional Vista drivers for the masses being a higher priority than the relati'vely few of us with 4GB+ RAM and an X-Fi.
    While the X-Fi?is a great card, my only wish was that the vendor was forthright about this product not functioning with certain configurations. It is my feeling that?making an effort to help?customers choose?products that will work with their configurations would result in satisfied and repeat customers?and a better bottom line?as opposed to?eeking a few extra dollars out of a slightly larger customer base and?who are then left unsatisfied with a product and unwilling to buy a company's products in the future.Message Edited by Foddan on 07-9-20070:45 AM

  • Microphone does not work in Facetime

    I read other posts and in Maverik I didn't find simmilar problem, for most people their microphone does not work after few minutes, but in my case, microphone does not work at all in Facetime, so I can hear the other end, but they can not hear me! This happened after updating Mavericks.
    My Mac specs:
    Macbook Pro 2013
    OSx 10.9.1 (Mavericks)
    things I already tested:
    I tried to use headphone and without headphone, but it didn't make any difference
    Microphone works fine in Skype and other softwares (Audacity, YahooMessenger, etc.)
    Tried with WiFi and with Ethernet cable
    Internet speed is 2.3MBps
    Router's firewall does not have any restriction for certain ports
    Tried turning facetime Off and On
    Tried to call iPhone 5s, iPad2 and MacBook Pro each in different network and different countries!
    ... and finally searching internet for hours (which obviously came up with nothing)
    I'll be thankful if somebody help me through, all suggestions are welcome, so please don't hesitate to post.

    8-core Mac Pro, Lion, Original External iSight camera connected via FireWire 400 through the FireWire jack on the 23" Apple Cinema Display.
    Audio and video work fine using iChat and making video clips through any/all apps.
    However, using FaceTime.....incoming audio and video are fine, outgoing video is fine, but outgoing audio is missing.  Nobady can hear me.
    Sorry guys...you can't doll this one up or spin it in any other direction......it's a bug pure and simple.
    Feel free to fix it whilst you're dealing with all the other problems that Lion has.

  • Audio in video messages does not work

    When I record a video message for someone, the audio does not work properly. It either doesn't work at all (silence is recorded), or cuts out after a 1-2 seconds. The problem seems to be confined to the MP4 video/audio encoder used by Skype for video messages.
    My webcam (Logitech HD615) works properly when used for Skype calls (including the built in microphone), and when used in other applications. With other applications, I can also record videos and the audio is captured and encoded correctly. Although the problem does not seem to be the webcam, I have re-installled the webcam drivers and I have tried changing USB ports for the webcam.
    I have re-installed the latest version of Skype and verified that Windows has the latest updates (I'm using Windows 7).  I have tried re-booting a number of times when debugging this issue.
    I have looked at the mp4 file that's created in the temp folder when Skype records the message - the audio is missing/broken regardless of what player I use. This, and the fact that the webcam works makes me believe that the problem is in the Skype use of the audio/video encoder, or the encoder itself.
    Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    When you change the USB ports, make sure not to use USB 3.0 ports. I had a very similar issue with Logitech c920 webcam. Changing the port to USB 2.0 has solved the issue.

  • FaceTime does not work on UAE model

    My ipad was bought from Dubai, UAE and FaceTime does not work on it. On investigation I came to know that FaceTime is blocked in UAE. Fine I thought FaceTime is a software thing not hardware and after updating iOS why does it still not work ? Can we do anything to make face time work ? It's not banned in my country and FaceTime works perfect on my iPhone

    Thanks I now use Skype but learnt a valuable lesson will buy my next ipad from USA or Canada where nothing is blocked.
    However my money got wasted cause I wanted the luxury of a big screen for FaceTime communication
