Skype doesn't work with Yosemite

I recently upgraded to Yosemite.
When trying to login to Skype I get the message - "Skype can't connect". I have the latest version of Skype.
Fortunately I have my original OSX - Snow Leopard - on another partition of the hard disk, where Skype works perfectly.
Anyone any ideas??

I think Skype didn't upgrade the application for OS X Yosemite support. I expect this in a few weeks.
Sorry but I think no one can help you.
Best of luck to you!
Vincent

  • Sound Blaster omni 5.1 doesn't work with Yosemite 10.10.1

Hi all! My SoundBlaster omni 5.1 doesn't work with Yosemite 10.10.1 (installed driver for Yosemite 10.10). Equipment in system is displayed properly, like "Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1". And SB is set as active. Volume controller is active (system shows volume adjustment). But there is no sound on output (either) and mic doesn't catch the signal. With MS Windows 8.1 it works good. Therefore I suppose problem not in hardwear, most likely in drivers.Does anybody have the same problem?

    Hi Andrew,
The latest drivers release on 4 Nov, 2014 can be found here.
Please download/install it and let me know if you still have the same problem.
    Cheers,

Microsoft word doesn't work with Yosemite. Please Help

Office 2008 and 2011 work with Yosemite. If you had Office 2004 installed, then it will not work. If you had Office 2008 I would upgrade to Office 2011. In any event you should try completely uninstalling Office and then reinstalling it.

    Hello ,
Thank you for contacting the HP Support Forum. I understand that you HP Officejet Pro 8600 is having issues scanning after your Yosemite update. After a little research, I found a document that might get us started in the right direction.
Try these steps first, and then please let me know if they worked or not.

  • Musket a3 USB 600 Scanner doesn't work with Yosemite

    Hi there,
I have a Musket a3 USB 600 Scanner that doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Yosemite. Does anyone have a recommendation as to how I can use it? As Musktek aren't helpful and have told me they don't have a driver for yosemite... is there a way around this? Any help would be appreciated.

I found this and testing now.

  • Skype doesn't work with OS X Yosemite - does not a...

I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite - terrible OS I highly discourage anyone use it.  It's caused all kinds of compatability issues with various software.
Logging onto skype works for about a minute then I get forced into offline mode and cannot change my status or call anyone.  I've tried rebooting the internet, rebooting skype and reinstalling but nothing has worked.  It appears to be some sort of bug issue.  My internet connection also gets killed sometime while using skype.
Please fix.  The new OS has been out for a while now.  No excuse to be several months late fixing a bug.

Hi, Eiger, and welcome to the Community,
DJmacman is correct, and I marked his observation as a solution to help everyone following in our footsteps: connection error messages are typical indicators that the software needs to be updated.  Please also see this FAQ article:

  • Pinter doesn't work with Yosemite

I have an older model Kodak ESP-3 printer/scanner connected to my late 2013 iMac. Since upgrading to Yosemite, it does not print. I can tell that the computer and printer are talking to each other because the print light flashes and paper feeds. But nothing is printed and the printer icon in the Dock continues to show that there is a print job pending. I have not gotten any satisfaction from the Kodak web site other than a notice that they are working on the problem. Has anyone other than Kodak come up with a solution?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
              /var/log ▹ cups ▹ error_log
from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • PIXMA MP 830 doesn't work with Yosemite.

I upgraded my Mac Pro to Yosemite. Printing seems to work, butscanning and FAXing no longer work properly. I assume the driver is no longer compatible. Is there a plan to support the MP830 for Yosemite or am I going to have to replace this perfectly fine multifunction printer?

    Hi hayseedhall and daskarzine,
There are not plans to update the drivers for the PIXMA MP830 so that it is compatible with the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system.  Please Contact Us for other options available to you.

  • Gmail doesn't work with Yosemite on Mac mail

Since upgrading my Macbook Pro to Yosemite, I have had continual problems with both my gmail accounts via Mac Mail.  I also have Outlook and a ISP mail that I access via Mac Mail and there are no issues with both of these.
I also have my gmail accounts on my iphone and iPad and HAVE NOT upgraded and have no issues with gmail on these devices.
Whilst some may think it's gmail (continually asking for stupid 2-step verification when it has been disabled), I suspect it's the way that Apple is 'speaking' to gmail??  I'm not sure....I'm no techo. Just a hunch.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to rectify? I have googled the issue and solutions posted only seem to address gmail, not gmail AND Yosemite issue, so nothing works.
As it's now causing my mail to crash I have removed gmail from my Macbook.
I dare not upgrade software on my iphone or iPad !!

    HI,
These are my settings for Google STMP.
Port 587 using SSL and Password Authentication.
As mentioned before at Google I have no 2 Step verification set but I do have the Less Secure app setting set.

  • Final Cut doesn't work with Yosemite!!?

Hi there, anyone who could help me with this problem would be greatly praised, as I am really inexperienced with tech and stuff because I'm only 15 and I made maybe a not-so-great decision
So, I bought a 2010 iMac off craigslist which had FCPX on it already (Final Cut is the software I use most often), and I had it on Mountain Lion, and it ran perfectly. However, I decided to upgrade to Yosemite, and now Final Cut has a line through it and when I click on it a message says "You can’t use this version of the application “Final Cut Pro” with this version of OS X" and there's no "update" button, only a button that says I have to buy it again (but I already bought it!!)
I emailed the person I bought it from asking for her Apple ID so I could look through the purchases and click "Install" or "Update" or whatever it says beside the FCPX button, but under Purchases I didn't find it, and when I emailed her back she said "Oh, I'm pretty sure when I bought it Final Cut Pro came installed on it already so I didn't have to use my Apple ID to buy it". So evidently I got it from her, in turn she got it from the one person who bought it, but I don't have this person's Apple ID so I can update it.
I'm really sorry if this does't make any sense, but I'm at my wits' end because I don't want to pay $300 for another copy of Final Cut! Maybe there is some way I can upgrade it, or failing that would it be possible to retain all my files yet downgrade back to Mountain Lion?
Any, I repeat ANY help would be appreciated!!

THe FCP license is not transferable. I cannot legally be sd on Craigslist or anywhere but from Apple through the App Store.
DOwnding grading the OS is difficult. First you need a back up of your existing drive that has the user informatiion. You then need another computer or drive that has Mountain Lion installed that you can boot from together with a ML installer. You can then boot off the drive, erase your Yosemite drive, and reinstall Mountain Lion.

  • Acrobat X pro doesn't work with Yosemite

I use Acrobat X pro on mac OS X , and  I updated to Yosemite . Since this update, I can't use Acrobat pro . When I want to edit a pdf, the window displaying "Software license agreement" appears....no way to modify a file. I checked: I have the latest update . Will an update soon solve this problem? Thanks

    Nope !
I filled out the form each time, and each time the window is displayed again, and so on
    I can't edit anything
You may notice that I have no problem with other CS6 applications

  • ARD admin doesn't work with Yosemite

Currently I have remote desktop app v3.6.1, and after updating the os to Yosemite, I'm getting a message that the administrator software does not match the installed client software version.
SImilarly, I can not update to 3.7.2 as that tells me that a newer version of this package is already installed.

Kevin, I am having the exact same problem, for the same reason - bought the boxed version before the Mac App Store existed, have a valid serial number, am up to date with 3.7.2, but Mac App Store now picks up the installed app but won't let me "update" because of an Apple ID mis-match, which is no mis-match at all, just that I was never afforded an opportunity to associate the purchased serial number with my Apple ID post-install. I really don't want to uninstall the originally purchased copy and re-purchase through the Mac App Store just to resolve this. Please share if you find a real solution. Thanks.
