Skype dropouts now both ends using Infinity

My son lives in a hospice in Hereford and we keep in touch daily via skype.
Over the last few days infinity has been installed at my sons hospice and ever since then I have been having receive dropouts / hangs about every 5 seconds.  Both ends of the conversation are macs using Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Before this 'upgrade' the connection was slow but quite usable, I just cannot understand why this should be occurring.  Any suggestions?
Just for info as it is a new connection I do not know what HH is installed (although I would expect HH4, I have a HH4), I assume that the connection is Infinity 1 as I checked performance and it was around 30Mb/s on Wednesday.
There is an added complication in that there is a wireless connection from the main site to the actual residence by line of sight which was installed and is supported by a 3rd party.

Skype has a known problem ATM and it's being worked on. It has nothing to do with BT or your connection.
Hopefully Microsoft (now own Skype) will have it resolved quickly.

What kind of Mac to you have?  This camera is a tape based DV one that connects best with firewire and I cannot tell if your Mac has firewire.  If your mac *does* have firewire, get a camcorder firewire cable and try again.
ETA:  Oops, I am pretty sure that all the "desktop iMacs" have firewire, so you should be good to go.  You will probably need a cord that goes from FW800 to your camcorder.

iOS 5 used to allow Airplay between iPad (WiFi) and Apple TV (Ethernet) as long as they were on the same network, i.e. connected to the same wired/wireless router. In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem.  The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6.  (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

  • My Adobe trial for Photoshop Elements 10 for the Mac was over and I wanted to buy the application. The screen message was "Your trial has expired...but the fun doesn't have to end! Buy now to continue using Photoshop Elements 10 without having to download

My Adobe trial for Photoshop Elements 10 for the Mac was over and I wanted to buy the application. The screen message was "Your trial has expired...but the fun doesn't have to end! Buy now to continue using Photoshop Elements 10 without having to download or re-install. " and then the button "Buy Now". When I hit the Buy Now button I am put in a field to buy Photoshop Elements 13, with no way to change to Elements 10. I do not want to go through the hassle of reinstalling etc. In fairness, it's been over a month since making the decision to buy. Still, I consider this a nightmare. Any ideas on how to buy the app I've got withou having to purchase a whole new one? Thanks.
If worse comes to worse, will I need to uninstall the trial if I buy a new version? Can I use part of it lime download assistant?

Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.  If you wish to purchase an older version you will have to find and take your chances with a third party vendor.

I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room.

  • Email Address used only for Skype is now receiving...

My [email protected] email address which has only ever been used by me to register for Skype is now receiving a lot of junk mail. Has Skype been careless with my details or are they in the business of selling personal information or is there another reason?

at&t has something on their website as well about reporting fraud (email)
Check the e-mail fraud examples to see if you have received a known phishing scam. If your e-mail looks like one of the examples, delete it. AT&T may be aware of the current fraudulent activities and working with the appropriate agencies to resolve this issue.
If your e-mail doesn't match any of the examples, please forward the e-mail to AT&T Security.
Option 2: If the phish does not resemble a message from AT&T but is from a AT&T address, send an e-mail to [email protected]
Option 3: For all other cases (non-AT&T messages from other e-mail accounts, bank scams, etc.) send an e-mail to [email protected]
So looks like you want to check the examples to see if it's a known scam,   if it is not then forward it to the [email protected] to report it.
Verizon also has a way for you to report a threat to them as well but looks like it may be more geared towards their own customers, like AT&T does for theirs.
If you receive a suspicious email, you should not reply to it, nor should you open any attachments, click on links contained in the email or provide any information in response to it. You can report suspected fraud involving Verizon or Verizon Wireless to [email protected] or [email protected], respectively. Please include the word "phishing" in the subject line of your email and provide as much information as possible about the fraudulent activity or message.

  • Using both ends of a stylus

    Hi all!
I am using a touchscreen and a stylus, and I want to capture the events generated by the stylus. Obviously, MouseListener and all the other MouseXXX classes allow to capture these events. However, the stylus has two ends, one is intended to draw, the other is intended to erase. Windows has no problems in distinguishing between both ends, but the MouseListener generates the same events no matter which end the screen touches.
Is there a way to distinguish between the two ends in Java? Is it possible with a MouseListener, or do I have to use another class/API? I am using WinXP and J2SE 1.5
    Thanks.

CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

    Hi Kglad.
I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)
here is the new tutorial for CC -  my guess is they have scrapped the control we had over the custom crop settings

  • Installed Skype and now Flash Player won't open in new window

I installed the latest version of Skype and now Flash Player does not work properly.
I just bought a new laptop, it has Windows 7, 32 bit, IE 9, and Flash 10.
A website that I go to all the time uses Flash Player so when you click on a link in the site it pops out the player into a new window and you can listen while you still browse on their site.  After I installed Skype last night, that 'pop-out' function is no longer there.  The player now replaces the webpage and it is very large and distorted because it is supposed to be in a small pop-out window.  No matter what I click, I can't get the link to open in a new window, it always opens in the same window replacing the webpage.
I uninstalled Skype and then used the manual uninstaller of Flash because the uninstall would not work from the uninstall screen in Windows.  I then reinstalled the latest version of Flash Player and I still have the same problem.
Is this a setting that I can change somewhere??
    Thank you.

Hi eidnolb, thanks for the reply.
I did uninstall the google toolbar that was installed with skype.
I now found that it is not just flash player that won't open in a new window, I can't get any link at all to open in a new tab or a new window.
I tried restoring IE's settings and that did not work.
I know this is an adobe forum and my problem is now much larger than just adobe, but if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

  • Panic, now both Thunderbolt ports not working

I've read about PRAM and SMC resets, performed those actions but my thunderbolt ports with a TB to VGA adapter still do no work.
A few days ago I had a kernal panic but I didn't pay much attention as the MBP had been up for a week or usage.  Then today I was preparing to use my adapter for a corporate event, and about 1 hour before, teh screen went grey with the panic screen.
Now both bothers do not work when I plug the TB to VGA adapter in. I can use that adapter in another MBP just fine. Seems to be just this machine.
What info can I post to gain assistance in isolating this problem?

  • Is Apple making a connector with the lightening on both ends for 5s and ipad mini syncing capabilities

I can not sync my 5S with IPad Mini because of adapter not having lightening connector on both ends. I can't afford a new computer to sync my phone. Getting replacement phone because camera stopped working but can't backup my phone. My Mac doesn't have intel.

Okay great..bought ipad mini for nothing..everybody said get an ipad you can use it to sync your phone blah blah blah..
