I have montly subscription to calls to China. Skype dropping calls as soon as the other person answers the phone. This is very frustrating to me. Please help!

I have exactly the same problem!!! I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1, and I think that my problem started when I updated to last version (6.1) of iOS. I have done everything you tell and, like you, my iPhone has not been damaged by a drop or water. Please help because I'm desperate!!!

My phone sounds like its breaking up when I call.
Then when the other person answers all I hear is my voice echoing and all they hear is static
Same happens when they call me.
Data over the phone - to Vodaphone - is fine. I can browse. With or without wifi.
My speaker and mic work fine.

I think the fault just developed out of the blue. I called somebody left the phone on the table downstairs the person tried to call me back 11 times and I never heard them. When I tried to call later in the day the phone had an error.
When try to phone my iPhone from the land line the ring tone is perfect but I get the same problem with my iphone just echoing my voice and nothing else - and the landline having loud static and nothing else.

  • When I make a call I can hear the other person but they can't hear me?  Tried everything.

When I make a call, I can hear the other person but they can't hear me?  Tried everything.  Took it to the local ATT store and all they could tell me is it shouldn't be happening and to take it to an apple store?  Any ideas?

Try to isolate the issue. Use earphone and if the issue still happens then it might be the phone issue.
    - If earphone works fine then it may be the mic on the iPhone. Try cleaning the debris on the iPhone. Finally a restore of the device and try to set it as a new device. Tha will isolate if it is a software or hardware issue.
    - You can take the phone to Apple store once you have tried all this.

  • When I block my caller Id what does the other person see.

My question is when I block my number/caller id on my iphone what does the reciever of the call see? Restricted/blocked or could it possibly be a bunch of numbers?? Like 13 digits. would it depend on the phone the other person has like if it is an old flip phone?
(when scrolling down I dont know the operating system) so ignore my answer to that if it even shows??

Depends on the carrier you use and the recipient's device. More than likely Blocked.

  • Very Low Volume on Phone Calls - Can barely hear the other person

Just picked up my iPhone 4 at the Apple Store. Tried to make a phone call the the call volume is so low I can barely hear the other person calling.
The speaker volume is not much better. The other person can hear me fine and says the sound is great.
The volume dots are all the way up.
The settings sound voulme under ringer is all the way up.
ipod volume lock is not activated.
Any other settings to check out?

OK now I don't feel like I'm the only one. I've also done a hard reset and still suffer from the same issue.
Since it seems to be the popular question, no the plastic is no longer on my phone.
To call the volume I'm hearing a whisper would be a overstatement. This is a much bigger issue than the antenna. The phone is basically unusable without headphones. Unfortunately I'm not very close to a Apple store to exchange.

  • When i make a call i cant hear the other person or its super quiet

when i make or recieve a call i cant really hear the other caller, its super quiet and they have to shout! i can hear them fine! theres no case on the phone and its not on silent, volume is at maximum, any ideas guys why its like this? cheers x

If there's no obstruction in front of the headphone speaker and the volume is pumped up to max, the component may be kaput. So yeah, a trip to the Store will be inevitable.
My boss got an i5 in mid--Jan.  Not a week later, her callers started complaining they couldn't hear her. She eventually ended up in the carrier's customer center (no Apple Stores over here), where they gave her a new-from-the-box replacement, no questions asked. You may get lucky too.

  • Hello everyone. i have iphone 4s. there is a problem with speakers. i cant hear any sound when i receive a call and even i cant talk on speaker phone or listen to songs but without speaker i can call n listen to the other person whom i am calling. ???

is anyone facing same problem please help.
    thanks

Kayla, check the grill that covers the microphone (bottom left next to charging port) and make certain there isn't any dirt, makeup, spilled soda clogging the grill causing it to fail. My sister had a similar issue with her earphone and while I was in the process of replacing it for the third time I decided to check the grill under a very bright light and it was totally clogged up causing her not to be able to hear her phone calls. Use a Q-Tip dipped in hot water and gently wipe the grill. Just barely moisten it, no need to go crazy with the water. Might as well clean the earphone and speaker on the bottom right too. Anyhow, that could be what your issue is and if so it's a really simple fix. If that doesn't help just replace the microphone. It'd cost maybe $5 and ten minutes of your time to do. Good luck, John

  • When making a cellular call the other person cannot hear me. FaceTime + Skype Work OK!

    Hi Guys,
    I have an iPhone 4 (non 'S') 16GB Black.
I have the most strangest problem I've ever had on iPhone (I've had every gen so far).
    Here is the problem:
I make a standard cellular call and the other person is not able to hear me. If I make a FaceTime call though, the person can hear me no problem. I tried Skype too and that is OK also. So I know the microphone works, just not over cellular network.
I tried the sim in another iPhone I have access to. (iPhone 4S) and calls work fine on that one. So I know it's not a network issue.
I'm absolutely stumped by this issue.
    I have tried the following:
Backing up my phone, entering DFU and re-setting back to factory, then restored from backup. It worked for a little while (maybe a week?) then the problem happened again.
I backed up my phone again and did the DFU reset but instead of restoring from backup, I ran with a vanilla phone for a while - this time it didn't last 2 days before it went silent again.
I have since DFU'd and Restored my phone 3 more times again but it has not cleared the issue this time - the problem is now constant it seems.
Over the past 3 months, I have restored, reset my phone to get rid of the problem many times, each time with different results. Sometimes it works for a while, other times it doesn't fix the problem.
It sounds hardware related but I keep coming back to the thought of "well if it works in FaceTime, it can't be hardware". But if it's not hardware, what is it?
Any help on this one is very much appreciated.
    P.s. no, it's not muted

no setting need to be changed. you may try these steps http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180

    hi there

I had Sony aked me to go to settings and select smart connect to delet all data. But it still had a problem. The headset jack and plug on phone are clean. One thing I believe that caused the problem is software update by Android on Lillipop. All calls on normal, WhatsApp, Viber and Line are fine for the earpiece and Mic. Only Skype for which the mic does not work. However, when I call the other person and he picks up the call, the mic works when I pull out the plug and reconnect the plug again. It works all the time that way. So it could be software for Andriod and Skype.Hi, we had the same problem on this new android version. I found a solution-need to remove the headset jack from mobile phone and then return it again then the other person can already hear you. if you do a call on skype with headset on it, the problem will happen again after the other person answer your call. then you need to remove again the headset and reconnect. hope it will temporarily solve our problem. but we need skype to help on this.

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)

Does hte iPhone say headphones when you adjust the volume, even when they aren't connected?
If it does, there might be some lint or something in the jack. Take a look at this Apple document -> iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
