Skype Federation shows garbled characters in one direction

I have implemented PIC from my Lync 2013 Server via an Edge Server to Skype.
Unfortunately connectivity works only in one direction:
Sending IMs from Skype to Lync works fine.
No matter what I enter everything sent from Lync to Skype arrives as þÿ (Which is a Unicode Byte Order Mark as in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark)
Any ideas?

Roland UM-ONE CD-ROM does not mount on iMac OS 10.8.2 Roland driver for 10.8 installed as directed. No power ready light shows when connecting UM-ONE. System Profiler shows it, but not configured. Older UM-1X works fine. UM-ONE works on Dell Windows XP.

Roland supplied CD-ROM does not mount or read by iMac OS 10.8.2, works with old TiBook and Dell laptop, however.
Got latest driver from RolandUS.com (um_1mx8d_v100), installed as directed.
No power ready light shows when connecting UM-ONE.
System Profile shows it there, but not configured.
With Audio MIDI Setup opened to MIDI Studio window, UM-ONE does not appear.
Tried many things without success. Tried swapping UM-1X (formerly on Dell laptop) with UM-ONE. UM-ONE installed and worked there without any issues. MIDI instrument communicates fine.
The UM-1X works without complaint and as expected when connected to any USB port on either the Dell or iMac, even a hub or keyboard port, just as it formerly had before changing operating systems, etc. It is old, but reliable.
Upshot is, for now, that UM-1X works with either the Dell or the iMac, but is currently attached to the iMac. UM-ONE (2011 model) only works with the Dell (Windows XP).

Same problem here! The only difference is that I'm using a MacBook pro 13 inch (2011)

Hi all, I'm tryng to resolve a problem with the Greek characters
I need to display labels in two languages, english or greek inside my report.
At the beginning of the report I have a placeholder with the xml code : *<?param@begin:p_language?>*, so I can understand inside my report if the user chose the Greek or English, and then I have many placeholders (labels) which have to be written in Greek or English.
If the language chosen is English, I don't have any problem to show my labels bold or italic in every fonts
Inside the placeholder I wrote the following code:

I can chose font, style and bold/not bold directly from Word and when I run the report in pdf I see exactly what I chose.
If the language chosen is Greek....I see always the label in Arial, NOT BOLD and NOT ITALIC...
In order to see Greek characters BOLD:
a) I added (under the ADMIN tab/Runtime Configuration/Font Mappings/ ) a font named Arial and I addeda target Font named Arialbd.ttf under the directory: D:\Oracle\Oracle_Homes\BIP_101341\jdk\jre\lib\fonts
b) I changed the font (from word) to Arial
Now, ONLY with tha ARIAL font I can see my labels in greek bold, but I can't still see them in italic style.....
So, I tried to force these condition inside the placeholder with the following code:

Robo v9 Show/Hide without Twisties - One button no longer working

Hey there, as stated I am using Robo v9 with Show/Hide without Twisties (One button) with javascipts. We have most of our images using DHTML drop-downs and when folks click on "Show All Images" on the page, the GIF changes to "Hide All Images" and all drop-downs (our images) and expanding text are diaplayed.
It had been working all the time, but now it only works when I right click the topic in the TOC and choose "Edit Topic", then while in the Edit Window (Display view), when I do a View (Ctrl-W) and it displays the page within RoboHelp..I can click the "Show All Images" and it works like it always had. BUT, if that page is not in the Edit Window, and I right click "Preview Topic", the click "Show All Images" (or on the DHTML dropdown itself) it will NOT show the images, *but the GIF image does properly toggle to "Hide All Images" (and if I do again, then it properly toggles to the "Show All Images" GIF, if I do it again), but now NO images are getting displayed for some reason. It also NEVER works properly when I publish to our website (even when clicking the DHTML dropdown itself), but the GIF images toggle properly.
If I right click and choose "Preview Topic" and click "View With" and use Internet Explorer 8 it still never works anymore, unless the topic is in the Edit Window (Display View), so I know the issue is not on the server. It stops working after I do a generate and run on my pc. Also when I view it IE8 within Robo (and Allow the Blocked Content to run the scripts), many instances of the same error is shown as:

I have a much older backup when restored, it all works properly again in all cases, but I have done so much work since then that I think would need to be manually redone. I have played with keeping those some javascipts alone (in case I changed something) and updated the rest of the data files I had added, deleted the .CPD file, but it somehow stops working again, probably with some updated file. I am not sure what specific files could be causing the negative impact that is preventing it from working. Maybe if I knew what files could impact, I couldrestore those from my old backup. The newer backups when restored do not work properly, so there was a point in time where something changed and is causing this.
All prior versions of RoboHelp (v7 and v8) have always worked and still do. I am using v9.0.1.262, as the latest version has not yet been allowed on our pcs (per security), but since my earlier backup works, I thought it may not be the issue, but wanted to tell you anyway. ;->
Any ideas on how I should proceed? What files may have impact to cause it not to work anymore? The showhide.js is the only .js to show up as a baggage file. Also, the DHTML line does exits in each html page's code, as we are still using Robo v7 as the production software and the Show/Hide always works, and I copy them into the respective Robo v9 folders (and if new, then I copy them, then import them), otherwise the newer v7 updated pages are copied over the older v9 html files while RoboHelp is closed.

I may have figured out what to fix to get v9 back to working on the Show/Hide button, but not the "why?" .
It looks to all be dealing with the Robo automatic html coding of where to locate the .js file(s)...here is a quick overview of this issue and what I did. When I view the non-working pages within Internet Explorer 8 within Robo (and Allow the Blocked Content to run the scripts), I saw many instances of the same error is shown as this in the log, which implied since I *do* have access rights, maybe the file was just not being found.

OK, here are my findings. EXAMPLE #1 and EXAMPLE #2 below are excerpts of the same file. Note the direction of the directory slashes of the java scripts listed below, as they are all DOS type slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for ehlpdhtm.js as it is the ONLY one using UNIX (forward) slashes.

BUT since all .js files are referenced in EXAMPLE #1 have DOS slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for the ehlpdhtm.js, I decided to change the line in ehlpdhtm.js FROM src="../../ehlpdhtm.js" TO src="..\..\ehlpdhtm.js" and IT (this one page) BEGAN WORKING AGAIN after I published. So having all DOS back slashes DOES work in Robo v9!!!! BUT it appears that Robo v9 only generates new pages using UNIX (forward) slashes in ALL coding. I've read about issues like this occurring with the FireFox browser, but we only use IE8, and have not read anything like this related to IE8 issues.
So if all UNIX forward slashes and all DOS back slashes can work in Robo v9 in finding and using ehlpdhtm.js, (the Show/Hide buttons function properly) why is this problem existing in Robo v9 when there are mixed "slashes" (using forward and backward)? ...and the mixed slashes ALWAYS works in Robo v7! They do not have to all be in the same direction in Robo v7 as it appears to have to be in the newer/more advanced Robo v9. Why does it matter that all slashes need to be all the same direction, if Robo v9 CAN actually read and figure out the DOS back slashes (formatted by Robo v7 creation) and actually generates UNIX forward slashes for the .js files in new Robo v9 output within the .html?
More importantly will I have to always do a Global search and replace in Robo v9 to change the direction of the "back slashes" when I copy updated Robo v7 .html files into the Robo v9 folders (instead of manually reworking each change), while in transition from v7 to v9?

When calling report from forms, only html format report can show chinese characters

To all experts,
When I run report by calling run_report_object() in forms, only html format can show chinese characters. If I choose pdf format, garbage characters were shown instead of chinese characters. My settings on server are as follows:
NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_HONG KONG.UTF8
FORMS60_REPFORMAT=PDF
Do you know why? I hope to print report in PDF format as PDF turned out to be more regular in format. Is there any additional settings required?
May experts here broaden my mind?

You have two different ways of generating Japanese PDF files from Reoprts. One is font aliasing and the other is font subsetting.
<font aliasing>
You will need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).

You will also need to have the following entries in uiprint.txt (example).

PO custom XML report output shows junk characters

One of our PO custom XML report's output(pdf) shows junk characters. when these junk characters are copied to any text editor, it shows correct text characters.
Below are our environment details:
RDBMS: 10.2.0.
Oracle E-Business suite: 12.0.6
OS: Oracle Sun 10
This is a clone system and the issue started after cloning

IPad really wants to tilt in one direction...

I just got an iPad 2 (as a gift). I've noticed that to get the screen to change orientation takes tilting it about 30-45 degrees, exept in one direction where a tilt of only a few degrees, 5 or less, is required. If I'm holding it in portrait with the button down, it takes very little for it to decide that the right side should be down instead, and it flips to landscape. It's really irritating if I'm reading and happen to be holding it near level, or place it on a flat surface. Is this a known problem and is there a fix? I have a bubble level app which I've never calibrated and it shows the orientation correct to within a degree, so I don't see any obvious reason why one direction of tilt should be so different (30-40 degrees off in sensitivity) from the others.

I just used the (free) Clinometer HD app to measure it. If you tilt it slowly you can see exactly what value triggers a change.
iPad 2: Right tilt is triggered at 9 degrees. All others (left, up, down) are triggered at 29 degrees.
iPad 1: Right tilt is triggered at 13 degrees. All others are 29 degrees as with the iPad 2.
It looks like it's a parameter, and it's slightly lower on the iPad 2.
After more searching (and finally finding my way through all the irelevent "won't rotate" results) I find that others have noticed this feature before and speculation is that it's related to the Apple case -- they probably want it to rotate at the angle the case props it up to. Maybe the difference (9 vs. 13) is related to the different cases for the iPad 1 vs. 2. (It's also possible my wife's iPad 1 doesn't have the same version of software, and that's it's a software version difference. But I'm pretty sure it does, I think she updated it in the last couple weeks. She's reading and I don't want to keep asking if I can borrow it again...)
(Note: if I'm moving the iPad 2 I can get it to change with a right tilt as low as 0 degrees, but more often 5-7 degrees, it doesn't take a lot of motion to make it think it's tilted 9 degrees. I think less careful testing, without the clinometer app, is the cause of my original "less than 5 degrees" estimate.)
Now I'm trying to decide if I should still visit the Apple Store tomorrow to confirm this. (If someone else can confirm the angle on their their iPad 2 with the Clinometer HD app it would save me the trip...)

Did you try turn off the ardware acceleration?
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Mail.app shows garbled Chinese character

Mail.app received a mail, which displayed fine in inbox listing. But showed only garbled characters after opening the mail. The mail itself shows no problem in gmail web interface.

IPhoto's Slide Show allows for only one song !

I love the feature of iPhoto's slide show for a user to accompany a slide show with music from one's iTunes library. However, you can only pick one song. That means that if you have a slide show longer than one songs worth of time (most slide shows will be this way), the song will just keep repeating.
Sure would be nice if there was a way to either play mutiple songs from a user's iTunes playlist. Alternatively, I've heard that the a capability may exist (outside of iTunes) to concatenate multiple songs together to accomplish the same end.
Any suggestions on how to do either of the above?

You can consolidate 2or more songs together in iTunes and name that (2 in 1) big song, Say, "eye of the tiger 2in 1) so this way it will be easy to locate it in the iTunes library while searching through iPhoto. Else you can create a separate albums in iTunes, and you put there only songs that are combined together.

This is the one I prefer. You can export your slide show to QT (Quicktime). it requires some calculation to create a slide show that ends with the end of 1 song. Then you create another QT slide show, that ends with another songs.... etc..... after you merge all the parts together and you have a very long slide show with many songs!
Transitions:
Keep in mind that exporting to quicktime uses only the desolve transition. Which is fine with me. I have seen so many people doing some power point presentation and slide show with photos and using a array of different transitions..... in the same slide show.....it is disturbing, and takes away from viewing pictures. In cinema, it is said: "the thecniques should remain invisible" so keep the disolve transition... it is the least obtrusive .... your viewers, will never complain that there was no "cube effects"! Only you know about the missing effects!
Self contained file.
When you export to QT, you now have a file that you can send people through e-mail (given that it is a reasonable size) or you can even post them on web page! like a .mac page.
When you want to view the show, you just click on the file and play it. No need to start iPhoto. No need to have a MAC, it can be seen on a PC too with QT. You can put it on a CD or DVD, and can be viewed on a DVD player.
But when you play your slide show directly from iPhoto, you have to be in front of your mac, you have to have iPhoto open! But you can have you mac connected to a TV in the living room (I do) and then can play the slide show from iPhoto, using a TV-VGA adaptor that will play on your living room TV for a larger crowd to see. It can also be played through the sound system!!!! infinity and beyond!!
If you want more specific on how to export to QT and merge 2,3,4,5 files post back. I will get more into it.
I always export to QT, because this way, in the future, you do not have to mess around again in selecting the photos needed, and selecting the songs in iPhoto. I just click the QT file, and it will always play the same!

JScrollPane: lock views size in one direction

Hi,
I have a JScrollPane that should use only the vertical scrollbar and a fixed size in horizontal direction. That means when an element inside the scroll panes view is broader as allowed it has to be shrinked down according to the behaviour of its LayoutManager.
I tried to set the preferred size for the JScrollPane itself and its view port but nothing helped. So how can I lock a JScrollPane in one direction so that it shows its standard behaviour only for the other direction?

This response is probably way too late to solve your problem but I was looking for an answer to the same question and found this post, so I figure if I answer it here, the next person won't need to search further.
Basically you use Scrollable to do this.
Assuming you're working with a custom panel:
public class MyCustomPanel implements Scrollable {

}If you're not using a custom panel then often it will already implement this method, but you can still override it to force the desired behaviour.
FWIW this can also be used in the direction you do want it to scroll, if you have a background you need to fill the entire scrollable area:

Google iPad Sync Microsoft Exchange - Sync only works in One Direction

I have setup my iPad to sync with Google calendar using Microsoft Exchange, which supposes to work bidirectionally.
I found that it only works in one direction such that anything in my Google calendar (includes all the subscribed calendars in Google) got sync to my iPad. After I add a new event in my Google calendar, it is pushed to my iPad.
On the other hand, any new event I add to my iPad calendar is not updated and shown in my Google calendar. This means the sync works only in one direction:
Google Calendar Event --- sync ---> iPad (works perfectly and the event is pushed almost pushed instantly)
iPad Calendar Event. --- sync ---> Google Calendar << FAILED >> (Event entered to my iPad never shows in the Google Calendar)
Sync works unidirectionally but not bidirectionally
Anyone has encounter this problem and is there any solution?

I don't think the solutions here are for the question that's posed.
I have an Exchange account set up on my iPhone 4. I want my Exchange calendar to sync with my Google calendar. I set up Google Sync, and I can see both calendars. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the two calendars to sync with each other. i.e., if I create an event on my iPhone, it doesn't push to both calendars. I have to pick one or the other.
The solution Stanley Wong suggested only sets Google as your default calendar; it doesn't actually sync the calendar events between the Exchange and the Google calendars. Unless I missed something?
Is there a solution for actually syncing the two calendars with each other? It seems like we should be able to create an event on the iPhone and have it sync to both phones without having to have Outlook open on a PC and using Google Calendar Sync to do that.

Camera Calibration profiles, non showing apart from basic ones.

Fairly new
to lightroom3, I shoot in raw on a 5dii, never connected the camera directly to the PC, load images via a card reader, lens correction profiles are there. But only 6 profiles for camera calibration are there. None specific to the camera. All the images are CR2 files. I am following Scott kelby's book. Am I doing something wrong. Help please.

Lightroom show only the profiles that are specific to your Camera. You should see Adobe Standard which is the Profile Adobe has created specific to your camera then there should be a number of profiles which start with the word Camera then faithful, vivid, landscape etc. Those are other profiles which Adobe created to try and match the rendition of your camera specific settings. Your camera name is not specified but the profiles that show will be the ones for you camera.
