Skype for business vs Skype personal

I have Skype for Business with my work. However I have family in other parts of the world, so I would like to keep my peronal Skype also, where I have credit for phonecalls. Is that possible?

Skype for Business keeps on creashing when trying to make a call or receive a call. I can message other people and receive messages but thats about it. I have reinstalled skype for business to no avail. I have read a few of these forums and one thing that has been advised is to update drivers which I have done now. However I have still attached the DxDiag file in zip format for your perusal. This problem occured before for me and i recreated my user profile and this seemed to resolve the issue but the problem is occuring again now randomly. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Hi,
    I think you can use BUPR_CONTP_CREATE to create contact persons or Badi BUPR_CONTP_CHANGE to change COntact Person Data. I give you a code example when I have used BUPR_CONTP_CHANGE to change data of contact persons:
    SELECT * FROM but051 INTO TABLE lt_but051 WHERE dprtmnt NE space.
    SORT lt_but051 BY relnr.
    MOVE ls_but051-dprtmnt TO ls_babi_persona_contacto-comments.
    MOVE 'X' TO ls_babi_persona_contacto_x-comments.
        CALL FUNCTION 'BUPR_CONTP_CHANGE'
          EXPORTING
            iv_partner       = ls_but051-partner1
            iv_contactperson = ls_but051-partner2
            iv_date_to       = ls_but051-date_to
            is_data          = ls_babi_persona_contacto
            is_data_x        = ls_babi_persona_contacto_x
          TABLES
            et_return        = lt_return_bapi.

  • Sharepoint 2013 and Onedrive for Business

    Hello,
    I need help with understanding Onedrive and have few questions. It would be nice if someone can help me with this:
    We have Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise and we will use OneDrive for Business with it. Now how is the user adminsitration works? Do I have to create new users or I can user that accounts from Active Directory? Everything is stored in SQL database.
    Today users have home folders and is it good to replace it with OneDrive?

    Hi,
    When we use the OneDrive or OneDrive for Business, we should first understand the differences between them.
    OneDrive for Business is a personal library intended for storing and organizing your work documents. As an integral part of Office 365 or SharePoint Server 2013, OneDrive for Business lets you work within the context of your organization, with features such
    as direct access to your organization’s address book.
    OneDrive for Business is online storage intended for business purposes. Your OneDrive for Business library is
    managed by your organization and lets you share and collaborate on work documents with co-workers. Site collection administrators in your organization control what you can do in the library.
    However, OneDrive is free online personal storage that you get with either a Microsoft account or Outlook.com. Use OneDrive to  save
    documents, photos, and other files in the cloud, share them with friends, and even collaborate on content. You’re free to decide how you want to use it.
     NOTE    In the header or elsewhere on your SharePoint or Office 365 site, ‘OneDrive’ appears as an abbreviation of OneDrive for Business to keep things simpler.
    If you use the OneDrive, we don’t need create new users, and we couldn’t use the AD account . OneDrive use the Microsoft account or Outlook.com.
    For more information, you can have a look at the following article.

  • Skype (personal account) cannot add Skype for business user who is on office 365

    Dear Sir, I able to search contact on office 365 users, but I cannot add them to my skype. As a workaround, I ask my friend who is using office 365 able to add my skype (personal account). Could you help to check and fix this problem? Thank you. B

    Hi,
    As mentioned the Lync Server is not up-to-date, based on my knowledge this is why the issue occurs.
    Please refer to this article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
    You can configure the client experience only if you are running Lync Server 2013 with the December 2014 Cumulative Update (5.0.8308.857) or later installed. The latest one is:
    KB 3036869 February 2015 Cumulative Update 5.0.8308.871 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server.
    You can specify the client experience the users in your organization will see by using the
    Set-CSClientPolicy cmdlet with the EnableSkypeUI parameter:
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true

  • Any way to remove the prompt after Skype for Business patch?

    So we rolled out the latest patches to our test machines and everyone got the new Skype for Business upgrade.  When each person logged in they were greeted with a window that said something like:
    "Your administrator is set for you to use the Lync User Interface."
    We then had to click the Restart Now button which caused Lync to close and open up again and it looked like Lync instead of like Skype.
    Is there any way to not have that pop up open and to just have everyone get the old Lync interface as if nothing happened?  GPO, Registry, etc?
    We want to minimize any confusion people are sure to have the first time they use it.
    Thanks!

    You can enable the SkypeUI (Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true) with the backend still being Lync Server 2013 to get the new client look and feeling.
    The Skype for Business 2015 RTM Server bits should be out in May, but the current new functionality can be taken from:

    Lync Validator - Used to assist in the validation and documentation of Lync Server 2013.
    Can I just enable it for individual users for testing?  I tried doing a get-csclientpolicy and replacing -identity global with -identity <user ID> but it said it didn't exist since it seems it's looking for policies.  Not sure if there's
    some other way to do that.
    Do I need to setup a new policy and just add certain people to it or is there any other way to do that for specific users?
    Thanks!

  • Need Help with Skype for Business!

    I purchased the Skype for business for an entire year. Now, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to log in. Do I have to link it to original skype? I am new to this and have no knowledge of the formats of Skype or it for business.
    Subject/title expanded to reflect post content a little more accurately.

    Hi, and no need to feel stupid!
    Welcome to this on-line community.
    A few questions for you to clarify the Skype product you are working with, so we can send you in the right direction in an effort to resolve the problem:
    Are you referring to either Skype Manager, or Skype Connect?  Do you recall what "business" product you have?
    Or, what are you trying to sign in to?  A Skype account via the Skype website, or the software itself?
    This FAQ article should help unravel the mysteries of the differences between a personal Skype account and a Skype For Business (formerly known as Lync) configuration: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34551/what-s-the-difference-between-skype-and-skype-for-business

  • Has anyone seen any issues with persistent Chat in the Skype for Business Technical Preview client? No Messages dispalyed.

    Hi all,
    We are testing out the new Skype for Business technical preview client
    with Lync 2013 and although we're not really users of Persistent Chat, I wanted to install this feature too so I added a server pool just to check things out.
    I can post and even search the history (which shows results), but apart from seeing my immediate post, when I close the room a re-enter I see nothing. I get a notifications that there are new posts, but clicking "Read" button also does nothing.
    We're off for Easter and I wont have access to another Lync 2013 client until we return, so I'm not sure if there is just something odd with my installation.
    I would be interesting to see if other are having this issue.
    Cheers

  • Skype for Business

    We presently have an Office 2007 environment. We plan to deploy Skype for Business. What is the best deployment path? Install Lync 2013 and upgrade to Skype for Business or install Skype for business directly. Where can I find the Install server guides?

    Deploy Skype for Business directly if you don't already have Lync 2013.
    Deployment guides are here:

  • Skype for Business & Lync : Contact icons not appe...

    In our environment we have several users that are using Skype for Business, and the rest using Lync.
    We have noticed that when migrating our users over to Skype for Business, the contact functionality that shows "icons" next to each person's name is now blank.
    As an example, my personal icon shows up for me but none of my contacts show their customized pictures.
    Lync users can see my icon and can see everyone elses.

  • Skype for Business / MS Office

    I have the new Skype for Business client unstalled in my home office PC as part of the MS Office 2013 suite. Can this client be used to log into my personal Skype account? If so, how do you enter the proper credentials?

    Most likely not unless your organization had the ability to bridge those services. Skype personal and Skype for Business to the best of my understanding are not interchangeable in terms of login. One (SFB) is provided by your work, the other isn't.

  • Skype for Business integration?

    Hi. I work for a small company. We have a few members of staff in the UK who work from home and the rest are in an office in the US. In the UK, we use the Skype Number as our 'office' number and have Skype credit for making calls.
    Our IT person in the US wants to get everyone using Skype for Business as we now have this as part of our Office 365 subscription with Office, Exchange etc.
    My question is thus whether I can get any of the Skye Number and Skype credit features on the Skype for Business account? I've searched high-and-low and it doesn't look like we can, so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone can help me with a definitive answer.
    Thanks!
