Skype for Desktop on Windows 8.1 Issues

Last week, I installed Windows 8.1, and now when I log on to Skype, my Home Screen is replaced with "Skype Home unavailable
Skype Home is unavailable at the moment. Check back later to see your news and alerts.
It's easy to start a conversation on Skype:
Choose a contact and start talking
Call a phone or mobile from the dial pad, or send an SMS."
Also, whenever I send a message, the loading symbol at the side never stops spinning, and I have made sure that I am connected to the Internet. I have the same version of Skype I had prior to the "update", and I have the same programs installed also. Any help would be nice.

Is your connection status on Skype Online? The status icon next to your name must be solid green with a white checkmark inside. Try to change the status by using the dropdown arrow next to this icon.

I have a computer running Windows 8.1. I am having the following issues with Skype.
When using the Windows 8.1 App for Skype, I cannot share a desktop which is needed for my business.
2. When using the Skype for Windows Desktop, I can share a desktop, however both the App and the Desktop 6.13 rings on incoming calls, also to close either I have to go to the Task Manager and end the application that way. Close on Desktop does not work. Even if I log out then try to close.
What are my options..

Cannot play voicemails on Windows 10 / Skype for Desktop

I have the latest Windows 10 and the latest Skype for Desktop. I have tried to uninstall / reinstall Skype and I have cleared the profile completely from C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Skype\ When there is a voicemail message, and I click play, it will look like it's downloading and then go back to the play icon almost immediately. Help!

Installation Problem - Skype for Desktop on Dell Venue Pro 8

I have a new Dell Venue Pro 8. It had the modern Skype app installed out of the factory, but clicking on it made me download the Skype for desktop app. It downloads fine (in looking through the forums, I saw that others had problems with this, but it was fine for me). The problem comes when it's installing. Skype brings up the "Installing Skype" window. The problem is that it takes up the whole screen. I can do what I need to with the "Select your language" drop-down menu, but there is nothing that lets me go to the next screen. I see no "Next" or "OK" or anything like that to use to continue the installation process. I cannot resize the window. Maximize and minimize are the only options. "Move" and "resize" are grayed out. Thank you for any ideas!

Can you share a screenshot of what your are seeing when you launch the Skype app?
You might want to try clicking the "Sign in with a different account" link at the bottom of that window and see if that helps to take you back to the "Sign in to Skype with my Microsoft account" option.

Skype for Desktop is unusable on Tablet devices

Why am I being forced to use the desktop client when it functions terribly on tablets? I enjoyed being able to use a full-screen, resizeable/multitasking client, and now I can't even see what I'm typing with the on-screen keyboard, along with being subjected to the awful banner ads that even further shrink visibility. For the love of god, either bring back Skype for Modern Windows, or give us the option to change the interface in the Desktop app to look like it used to. Given that I literally cannot even use the client right now, no thanks to the limited ability for Skype to shrink its window past a certain size being what prevents me from seeing what I'm even typing, I will be seeking an alternative IM client unless this is resolved.

Go to the store and look for Skype Translator, it is basically the "modern" app with the translation bits added. It's not perfect but compared to the desktop version on a tablet its wonderful. And like the rest of us, join the queue for a proper explanation from someone at Skype or MS.

Skype for Business manager window popping up randomly after typing/clicking/working

Hello there,
I work for a national charity and we have recently upgraded our computers and employees to Skype for Business. My co-worker is having an issue where no matter what she's working on, after every few clicks or letters typed, the Skype for Business window pops up. I've looked in the Settings under each tab but I haven't found a solution. It's preventing us getting good work done for those afflicted with the disease we're fighting against, so I was hoping a good samaritan could help me on this community board in fixing the issue.

Meanwhile you can try to make use of the “legacylogin” workaround, which should enable login to Skype using the old legacy login window. However, you will not be able to login using Microsoft account (email address). Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes. Open this folder on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\ You should see there the Skype application file (Skype.exe). Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. Running Windows 8.1, all drivers are up to date, all registry files are clean.
Re-installed multiple times to different locations, problem still persists.

Skype is crashing because of conflict with AVerMedia RECentral application. I guess that uninstalling this application will solve the issue.

Skype for desktop issues

So I originally had just the app Skypew 7.2, and everything was fine. One night while in a call, the app started acting strangely, not letting me reconnect when I was dropped. Restarted the computer. Ever since then, I haven't been able to get Skype to open after the log in page. When I linger my cursor over the icon in taskbar, it will show me my Skype all signed in. But when I click to enlarge/open it up it remains invisible. Ran troubleshooters and nothing seems to be wrong. So the question is...what am I doing wrong/not doing?
