'skype for ipad' app

Hi, I am trying to get the free 'skype for ipad' app only when I click to install, it asks for payment! Can anyone explain please?

Even though the app is free, Apple requires some form of payment, such as a credit card to be registered with them.  This doesn't mean the card will be charged for a free App.  It is possible that you may see a temporary charge for a small amount, about 1 US dollar.  This would be a "pending" charge that Apple might use to check the validity of your card. The bottom line is that you will not be charged for the free App.

    I  have had Skype on my iPad for ages. Recently the latest update refused to download.
    The error message - "There was a problem downloading 'Skype' for iPad. An unknown error (499)".
    Suggestion was to check internet connection, which was fine.
    I had the same prob on my iPhone (5), but eventually got it installed again by deleting it in iTunes/Apps, and re-installing. This didn't work for the iPad
    iPad3; OS is up to date; I do not have Restrictions set on my iPad.

  • Kid Art for iPad app:  no longer plays the music.  Any suggestions?

    Kid Art for iPad app:  no longer has sound?  It used to play a jingle on the home page and make sounds when coping objects into the drawing pad.  Any suggestions please.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but no change.  I have repurchased it on my iPhone and it works correctly but I don't seem to be able to repurchase it on the iPad - it reverts to the original purchase which seems to be faulty.  Help?

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
    Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
    If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

    Skype for iPad rejects my current user name that I use for Mac and iPhone and password.    Why do I have to create a whole new account for Skype.  Is it possible to use all three  devices
    with the same username and password?

    Yes, I have desktop, laptop and iPad all working satisfactorily with the same Skype account!
    It should make no difference but have you tried signing out on one of the other devices before trying the iPad?

    How do I turn off the Genius for iPad App Store. Its recomendations are very poor.

    I don't believe there's a way to "turn it off", per se. Can you not just not tap the Genius button? Unless I'm missing something, that's the only way you see Genius recommendations in the iPad's App Store app.
    BTW, questions about the iPad will generally get the quickest and most applicable responses if posted in the iPad forums.

    Same problem here.  Apparently NYT has zero support capability.  I emailed the. Three times and ive not even gotten an auto responder.
    I deleted the app, re-downloaded it and reset it.
    I have litrally no idea what to do

    Am I missing something obvious here?
    If I select a contact from my list, How do I edit the contact if they change their phone number.
    When I select it, the contact flips over showing me their name & number and a button allowing me to either call/SMS but I don't see an edit button.

    Unfortunately you cannot add a phone number to a contact yourself in Skype for iPad. The phone numbers shown are taken from that user's profile and only that user can edit the profile.

    I have a Skype account and a subscription with landline access. I've brought up the list of contacts and looked at my "iPAD contacts" list. All contacts are correctly displayed. However, many of my contacts have multiple telephone numbers and only the first one in the list is available. Is there a setting I can change to display more, or is this a limitation of Skype for iPad? Seems like a pretty lame limitation if that's the case.

    Just got an email back from Skype...It IS in fact a limitation of the application. They are looking at this for the next update...

    We are are on an E3 license for Office 365. What is the maximum number of devices that a user can connect to the various mobile apps? I had hard 5 was the max, but can not find any documentation to support this. We are interested in using both Office Mobile

    You are correct 5 devices max per user, these devices could be a PC/Tablet/Phone etc... (they all count as a device)

  • TS3274 Skype for iPad sign in doesn't work

    When I try to sign to Skype for iPad it won't let me

    Cleared everything, several time over several days, no change.
    Still have not diagnosed the problem and I have made a lot of changes, including re-loading M.FireFox 4.0.1 with ATT Yahoo vers. 1.8
    It sometimes appears that the sign-in times out, although I tried signing in for 2 weeks and also 1 day. ATT Yahoo has a sign-in seal one can setup and use. It is fine and works only that one day or until one signs out, than it is history.

    What is going on with the My Verizon for ipad app? You go to open it up and it says system under maintenance try again later?

    That must be progress in the making , I too have had the same problem since Last Christmas, just started getting the Under Maintenance , Click OK LOL  you see Verizon does not want you to know they have changed how bill us for data.. in 2 years I never went over 5 GIG a month I bought a IPAD for XMAS and went over the allowed 5G in 2 weeks , Watch your Data Close Oh no they wont tell you why ????

    Whenever I try to download Skype for I iPad this message appears:
    "You have already purchased this app. It will start downloading without any further payment." (Translation to English)
    I downloaded  Skype before for my iPhone. Now there is this little iCloud symbol next to the app. I press it, the message above appears but it doesn't download. I restarted my iPad But it didn't help.
    Please inform me about any further solutions.

  • Skype for iPad??

    Has anyone even bothered trying to download or use the new version of Skype for the iPad? Might be just me but I am unable to download it from the app store.
    I'm still trying to figure out how it would work on the iPad. Like the calling feature. Does the iPad support a headset with a mic? They say it's compatable with the iPad and that you can make calls with the iPod so I thought it would be cool...if it works that is.

    I'm not certain if you are questioning the newest Skype version, or if you question Skype for the iPad in general. Anyway, here's my input:
    * I have made at least four calls with Skype from my iPad, before I updated the latest Skype version.
    * One person I called about 50 miles away said the audio was great. I actually knew that already, because my first call was a test to my home voice recorder.
    * Yes, last week I downloaded the latest Skype version, but have not made a call yet.
    * With each call, I used the Apple earphone which came with the iPhone.
    * The iPad has a built-in mic, and Skype has a speaker option, so the earphone is unnecessary. I prefer it though.
    * I would use Skype more often; however, my iPhone has lots of unused (paid) minutes. With Skype, I would need to pay for my use, albeit it's a nominal amount.
    * My longest call was about one hour. No issues.
    Yes, Skype or VoIP, via the iPad is very cool. It is great knowing that I can place calls with my iPad if I choose to do so. Oh, there's one annoyance. If your existing U.S. contact numbers do not begin with a 1, the call will not be completed. You must dial as 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx in the U.S. Either update your contacts list before you download Skype, edit afterwards, or manually dial. Hope this helps.
