Skype freezes on login window

I'm running windows 7 ,
64 bits ,
skype version 7.1,
and IE version 11 ,
but my skype freezes on the log in screen, you know those boxes where you type your username and password? it freezes when I'm trying to type there, I have no anti virus I disabled them all, and disabled my fire wall, and uninstalled skype and resinstalled it over and over, I've no idea what to do.
please help me

Try now to uninstall IE11 and let Windows to revert your Internet Explorer to the previous IE10 or IE9 version.
In order to uninstall IE11 you should go to Windows Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> View installed updates -> Microsoft Windows -> Internet Explorer 11.

  • Freezing at "Login Window starting"

Hello, my PB won't get past login screen. It freezes specifically when it says "Login Windows starting".
Apple Hardware Test comes out fine but I can't repair using Disk Utility (the disk or permissions). Haven't tried Disk Warrior yet. I've tried starting in Safe Mode to no avail. I tried resetting PRAM and PMU with the same result.
Is there any other possible solution to my startup woes before I concede defeat and take this bad boy in to an Apple store?

I'm sure you're ready to turn in the computer for repair or troubleshooting but I have a couple of suggestions if you haven't tried them already. First, when you open Disk Utility from your installation disc, on the bottom after selecting your hard drive, what does it say next to S.M.A.R.T. status? Does it say "Failing"? My experience is that this finds problems with hard drives better than Apple Hardware Test. If it says "Verified", have you tried to re-install your operating system, either "Archive and Install" or "Erase and Install?" I would attempt an Archive and Install first, then an Erase and Install and see how that goes. Good luck.

  • Mouse freezes in login window (reproducible)

    Hi,
There are numerous "mouse freezes" topics but I didn't see this exact one. I'm using a ms usb/wireless mouse. It worked fine pre-leopard/tiger. If I continuously move my mouse after I select the "Login Window ..." (from user name of menu bar), the mouse freezes (i.e., the pointer will not move) when the login window appears.
I have to shutdown and restart the mac in order to free up the mouse.
I have a couple of questions and remarks:
    1. Is there another way to unfreeze the mouse?
    2. I've done a restart (command-control-power) but the mouse is still frozen.
    3. I've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC but problem persists.
    tia.

I have the exact same issue. Sometimes logging out (shiftoption+commandQ) works for me... but yeah, it's really annoying. And my mouse is a USB Apple Mighty Mouse.

  • Skype freezes after fresh windows 7 install on new...

Hello, ever since I freshly installed win 7 on a new ssd, I've had issues with Skype. The program consistently freezes when I'm typing a chat message. On top of this, the people I skype have said that my audio will lag out when I'm talking with them; I've noticed the program being unresponsive at those times.
Anyway, I've gone through the forums trying every solution I could find (e.g. fresh skype install, giving firewall perms, uninstalling messenger plus etc.), and I haven't been able to correct the problem. Sfc scannow has also returned no errors.
    I've attached the dxdiag report.
    Thanks for any help.

Alright, the issue has been finally corrected. Skype no longer crashes randomly at launch, my friends can finally understand what I'm saying, and chat doesn't freeze.
What I did to correct the issue since the last update:
    - reinstall java
    - reset ie 11 settings
    - moved usb ps3eye cam to different usb port
Apparently my usb port is messed up... which is weird since it was fine before the fresh intall of win 7.
    Thanks for the help

  • Login Window's Name & Password dimmed & freezed when trying to log in...

This problem keeps cropping up quite frequently, especially if I logged out of a OD account and immediately logging into another OD account: the name and password entered will dim and the Login Window will just freeze. There is no problem for local accounts and I still can SSH into this "frozen" computer and reboot the system. It occurs on all my Mac computers running Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) whether it is PPC or x86.
Looking at that "frozen" computer log, a successful loggin in will include these lines in system.log:

    Does anyone has a solution?

What is the server (model & specs) & what are the clients ?
Fast clients with a slow server can be one problem, due to how fast OS X boots.
    See
Past that, since you can ssh into a frozen client machine, set this up in advance on a couple workstations.
On the client set AFP debugging via, for example:
    sudo defaults write -g com.apple.AppleShareClientCore -dict-add afpdebugsyslog -int 1
    sudo defaults write -g com.apple.AppleShareClientCore -dict-add afpdebuglevel -int 6
afpdebugsyslog = 1 (turns on debugging)
    afpdebuglevel = <1-8>
Then, add the following line to /etc/syslogd.conf
    *.debug /var/log/debug.log
    Final two steps:
    issue
    sudo touch /var/log/debug.log
    and
    sudo killall -HUP syslogd
Then, try logging out and back in with a different usernameloginwindow, and check debug.log
and system.log on that client machine.

  • Skype Freezes whenever a Conversation Window is op...

The topic should be self explanatory.
If this is repeated, I'm afraid that it seemed that the board ate up my last post.
Whenever I open a conversation window skype freezes after a few seconds. I can start up the program, log in and then check options and so with no issues. But as soon as I open up a conversation window everything freezes and I'm forced to kill the process.
I tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing my conversation history, renaming the Skype appdata folder to reset the configuration... Nothing works.
It was working just fine a couple of hours ago and randomly stopped working. I did not apply an update nor I changed any other programs.
    I'm clueless.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

If you want to see the regular Skype login screen then the only option is to make Internet Explorer to work. You can try to uninstall the currently installed version and reinstall the IE8 version.
    http://filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer_xp
The other option is to make use of the “legacylogin” workaround, which should enable login to Skype using the old legacy login window. However, you will not be able to login using Microsoft account (email address).
Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes.
Open this folder on your computer:
    C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\
You should see there the Skype application file (Skype.exe).  Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now:
    "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:
    "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"  /legacylogin
Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Try now login to Skype?

  • Skype freezing Win 7 x64-Bit

When I start skype and I login explorer.exe stops working, so the Desktop and the start menu freezes. I can do CTRL+ALT+DELETE and log off but I can't use the TaskManager to close skype so I have to click "Skype-->Sign Out" then explorer.exe (Desktop/start menu) starts working.
Before I had this problem all my contacts was offline and I was writing to a person I knew was online. Also my skype status was changed to the refreshing sky icon that shows up when you get disconnected from internet. This all started to happened right after I installed "Norton 2013" with license. and I also had another antivirus called "MalwareBytes" I have read many places that MalwareBytes did not make anny issues with other anti viruses and some time later I saw a few comments on Skype Community saying that it was a lie, so I uninstalled MalwareBytes and the contacts on skype was now online.
The weird thing is that before I installed Norton 2013 I had "Norton 360 2013" and it worked perfectly fine with MalwareBytes.

The problem you are having can still be related to AntiVirus.  It shouldn't but it can.  A/V scanners can be highly intrusive.  I would recommend removing/restoring to a previous state in which it was working.  I've had the Norton AntiVirus user edition bluescreen an old computer back in the day, removed it and installed the Business edition, and no such bluescreen.  That was enough to convince me to shy away from it back then.  It's usefulness as a real AntiVirus in any form, is the reason I don't use it today.  I generally believe the issues that people have are tied with what they have installed in their computer, running in the background or attached to their browsers.  Issues can still arise due to other incompatibilities, the Skype application is by no means perfect.
I'm running a similar setup on all my machines with 6.3 and I cannot replicate this type of problem or a Skype crash.  I generally don't use any add-ons or plug-ins, so I always question those.   Some people are able to resolve their issues with 6.3 by downgrading to another 6.x release.

  • IMac won't start up: No login window appears.

Hello, there, everyone. The problem I'm addressing here is that my iMac is simply refusing to start up. Two days ago I turned it off (because of irrelevant problems), and since then it just won't boot up completely. Whenever I turn it on, it loads past the blue and white loading screens and the grey Apple logo, but once it loads the default Apple wallpaper it won't go any farther. No login window appears, preventing use. I've tried various alternative ways of booting it up, but nothing seems to work. I've tried safe-booting it (Which really doesn't change anything), initiating the Apple Hardware Test (Which freezes once I choose a language), unpluggung the computer both when it is on and off and retrying the start-up sequence, but still no progress has been made.
My iMac is about four years old, which isn't exactly a short life for a computer, but it still surprises me to encounter such a major problem. If anyone would happen to have any experience with this situation, I would be very greatful for any help at all. Thank you in advance.

Three beeps usually indicates failed or no ram. Try removing and reseating all of the ram. If that doesn't help and you have access to another mac can you start the imac in Target Disk Mode? OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
You'll probably need to take it in for service, but hopefully you aren't about to learn the hard way about backing up.

  • Login window crashing

Hello, I'v got an odd intermittent issue.... After entering my (correct) credentials into the login window the login window appears to freeze and prevents login.
I can move the mouse just fine, but the loginwindow becomes unresponsive. Trying other accounts on the Mac yields hte same results. I can drop into a shell by logging in as >console and I can login just fine in through safemode.  This had me suspecting thrid party addins, but the problem persists when all addins (that I could find..) are disabled.  This problem origionally happened a month ago and the fix was to remove third party launche agents/darmons.  However the problem surfaced again today with some weirder results. The loginwindow froze, I sshed in and triggerd a reboot. The next login attempt caused iCal to pop up through the frozen login window (I also opened quicktime and got a screen recording). I was able to get terminal open via spotlight. I launched Finder manually, but I couldn't get the dock to open. This problem is really annoying becuase I was using my laptop all day without issue.
Throughout, the way I've been toubleshoot this I would ssh into the mac from another Mac and grabbed the contents of system.log (below). I can see loginwondow crashing out in the log. I can also "kick it" with launchctl but I get the same result.
I've also all of Onyx's cleaning routines, manually purged Cache and Application Saved State folders, repaired permssions, and ran Daily/Weekly/Monthly tasks to no avail.
I don't really don't want to reinstall Lion if at all possible, any advise would be great. Thank you!

Well I may have answered my own question. I removed the contents of /Library/Internet Plug-ins and removed third-party preference panes. I can login just fine now.
Oddly, I can still login just fine after re-installing fresh copies of said plugins and preferences...
Here is a link to the movie I mentioned in my last post (~7MB): http://www.sonic84.com/files/LoginWindowCrashing.mov
    for the record, I removed:
    Pref panes:
    Flash Player
    Flip4Mac WMV
    MacFUSE (Tuxera)
    Perian
    Tuxera NTFS
    Internet Plugins:
    CitrixICAClientPlugIn.plugin
    Flash player.plugin
    Flip4Mac.plugin
    JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
    QuickTime.plugin
    SharePointBrowserPlugin.plugin

  • Old Skype account not accepting Windows Live Passw...

    Hey guys,
I created my Skype account about 6 years ago with the email address which I'm still using today. Well, I bought a laptop with Windows 8.1, which asked me to create a Windows Live account, so I did. I also used the same email address for this. Somehow, my Skype account is now linked with this Windows Live account.
So, here's the problem I'm facing. I want to update my contact detail (adding phone number, adding a new primary email address). So, I open my browser, enter Skype.com, choose to login with my Windows Live account, and all is good up to this point. Upon updating my contact detail, it asks to type in my password to be "extra safe". The problem is, it is not recognizing my Windows Live password! I know for a fact what my password is because I use it everyday when I turn on my laptop. Also, I am able to log into my skype account with my Windows Live just fine, although I did not have to type anything in manually. Skype somehow automatically logs me in after clicking on "Sign in with my Windows Live" button.  And, when I try to log into Skype manually with my email address, it's not recognizing my password there neither. Where is the disconnect?
What password is Skype asking me for when I am trying to update my profile?
Thank you for your help guys!

This is happening to me too. Looks like the old skype password is not overwritten by the new Windows Live password.

  • MacBook Pro late 2013 does not show login window after waking from sleep

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not always prompt for login, but opens directly to desktop, even though security settings are setup to prompt for password after 5 minutes. Up to now, this only has happened on battery, machine goes to sleep or lid is closed, 10 minutes pass, lid is opened and desktop is shown instead of lock screen. Console shows, that the machine was actually sleeping (10 min no log entries) and also does not show any error in regards to login window.
This behaviour occurs randomly and I could not track down any root cause/behaviour, yet. Sometimes everything behaves as it should.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    marcus

Count me in, I have the same issue, and from what I read here, it looks like a Yosemite/SSD related issue ?
I'm not 100% sure if it started when I put a SSD in my old iMac 2009 (as a fusion drive) or if that's after that when I upgraded to Yosemite...
I did disable auto poweroff like suggested in another thread : Mac freeze during the night sleep.
    sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
    We'll see if it helps.
It happens toughly a couple of times a week.
