Skype Freezes randomly when I am typing to friends...

Hello,
Whenever I am typing to any friend in skype, skype will randomly freeze. After about a minute or so, it will unfreeze, and sometimes it just crashes and I have to restart. This happened ONLY after the latest version update of 7.2.0.103. I have used skype for MANY years and never had this issue. I have had skypes tech support try and fix this issue, but they were no help. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling skype. I believe it to be an issue with the code behind skypes latest update.
I also checked event viewer and keep getting an Event Code 1001 whenever skype crash's...

  • T61p freezes randomly when on Battery Power

I recently got my new T61p and i'm absolutely loving it. However, randomly (and only when the laptop is not plugged in to AC power) the system will hang on certain tasks, usually web surfing since thats what I'm usually doing, and I'll have to do a hard reboot. Consequently, internet explorer and mozilla firefox tend to freeze sometimes when I'm on battery power. When I'm plugged into AC power everything runs perfectly.
According to this website http://www.utheguru.com/lenovo-ibm-t41-random-crash, this guy had similar problems with his t41. I have all the latest versions of power management and updated all drivers and patched vista. Any ideas on what to do? I don't want to uninstall power management b/c its so useful
edit: I use the 'Energy Star' profile for my power setting
another edit: Apparently it is to do with the Intel turbo memory. i'll try the solutions in this post and give u my progress: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=51908

I got my T61p last Friday.  I'm having the same issues after applying all patches and driver updates.  I can run fine on AC power, but as soon as I unplug the machine, the screen goes blank and I have to do a hard reboot.  I have not been using Turbo Memory.  For a few days it worked just fine, but then the problem started up again yesterday.  I think it has something to do with the GPU.

  • ITunes freezes randomly when updating 60Gb Video

Had a 40Gb Photo. Now have new 60Gb Video. Have updated iTunes software. Have update iPod software. When I plug in to load songs and pictures, iTunes will randomly freeze up. Have left it as long as 6 hours in case it was working in the background. In force quit,iTunes says 'Not Responding'. Have to hard-remove, as force-quit will not unlock the computer. This is random, it has loaded 18 (out of 4,000), or 256, or 857, or any other number. Does not seem to lock up on any particular song. Have changed setup and tried to load in small numbers, it seems to work for music (though this is not optimum or correct). Won't work with pictures. If it freezes, all the pictures that were previously loaded in small numbers are lost.
Someone suggested removing the preferences, but I can't find out how .
    to do this.
    Thanks for any help.

    17" G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   rocstor 160Gb drive

I had the same problem back at xmastime and I finally found that a plug-in called "multi plugin" which was installed by "evil lyrics" was causing the itunes crashes. It only crashed when syncing with the ipod. This was when the ipod was new so it was trying to load everything but itunes would crash after 5 or 10 minutes of syncing.
I got rid of it by uninstalling itunes, deleting the itunes program directory that was left behind, and reinstalling itunes. Once I did that everything worked fine.

  • Photoshop CC2014 freezes randomly when I use the type tool.

It kept happening when I was cutting type from Word and pasting it into PS. When I put the cursor in the type area PS froze and I had to quit the program. So I started a fresh PS file and that worked for about 10 documents. I was able to place and edit type just fine.
But, the same freeze just happened again. Any advice?
I'm using Photoshop CC 2014, the latest version on Windows 7 Professional.

  • My iMac 2.8 goes to sleep randomly when I start typing.

The computer will wake up as I frantically hit the keys to wake it up, but it happens often enough to get very frustrating. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for the insight. I'm totally dreading a reinstall. I just bought a 1.5 TB hard drive to run Time Machine for a system back up. I'm wondering if this problem will carry over when I load Time Machine on the fresh reinstall and if it will work on a later version (10.6.1)?

  • Mail application freezing / crashing when sending mail

I've posted about this in other threads too, but decided to post about it as a new thread to see if anyone else has also experienced this.
I upgraded by first gen iPhone to firmware 2.0, and in general everything seems to be working fine with the exception of the minor lag issues that others have also reported when typing messages or selecting items in some scenarios.
The one annoying thing I have noticed though is that the mail application has now crashed twice, seemingly randomly when I've typed an email and then tried to send it. I don't know if the size of the message or length of time actually played into it but they were both on the long side. This happened from my Gmail IMAP account. Basically as soon as I clicked send it showed the sending bar at the bottom and then became unresponsive. It should be noted that the mail app was unresponsive and that the phone and the OS still seemed to be working as I could either force the app to quit or go into standby and then resume, which also seemed to kick it back to the launcher.
These two events were separated by about two days and a restore "as a new phone" (just to eliminate all possibility that the previous crash was caused by any flaw in the backed up settings). Also I'd successfully sent about 15 test emails back and forth in the interim without issue, and later in the same night also sent an email successfully to the same person.
At this point the issue seems random, for all I know it may never happen again, but given that when it does happen I seem to annoyingly lose the email I was typing; I thought I'd bring it up here to see if anyone else has experienced it.
In general the other functions of the phone and the apps all seem to be stable so at this point I would suspect the mail app itself or maybe a fluke with Goolge's servers rather than an issue with the phone.

I think the send receive issues and the issues I'm mentioning may be slightly different. The sending issue (based on another thread on the same subject) may have to do with "incorrect" SMTP server settings for a given account. From the sound of it, this issue will crash the app every time.
The random freezing I'm talking about seems to be general instability in the mail app itself since version 2. It's very possible that these two issues may be related in some ways. While at times the app is totally fine, I've had it freeze randomly a couple of times while simply flicking through an email. While this seemed totally random, I suppose it could have been linked to some of the background syncing operations that mail does. For example, as I was browsing through the mail the app tried to initiate a background sync, froze, and to me it appeared to be a random freeze.
While I could see someone dismiss this as a fault with my specific iPhone. I should mention that I never had this happen before 2.0, that it is the only app in 2.0 that has exhibited this specific behavior, and that every time it has happened it is the app that has crashed and not the phone itself. In other words, I can always do a forced quit back out to the OS and everything is fine. I actually have not experienced any of the random phone resetting issues that some people have noted, so as far as the OS is concerned, things seem stable in my case.

  • Lenovo G450 Freezes randomly

    System - Lenovo G450
    intel C2D 2.2 GHZ
    4GB RAM
    320 GB HDD
I had it for about 6months now. For the past month or so it started freezing randomly when left open for more than an hour.initially it was once in 2-3 days but now it seems to be doing that more often. everything just freezes mouse, screen, keyboard even "Ctrl Alt Del" wouldnt work. i have to force the shutdown by long pressing the power button. it does that randomly some days it wouldnt freeze at all. searching through forums found that it could be power management issue. i tried changing power management options and disabling "sleep" without success. I hope its not  a hardware/motherboard issue. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    These are the common problem
    a) Most of the freezes I have experienced are due to graphic card problem. This is IMHO a intel-lenovo, or Nvdia-lenovo driver problem.
    b) A second common source of problem is overheating of the graphic card, especially during intense movie, gaming.
    c) A rare but possible problem is the window networking (especially window xp) trying to find the domain, IP address, network cache or whatever. The issue was so random that I don't think there was a solution. You will experience this if you ever try to connect to a network and find a disk drive, it just 'freeze' till the correct IP and window network name is 'resolved'. Some googled solutions shows that you can set the search time to faster, eg 1 second instead of the default.....with some compromise of course.
    My suggestion is
    a) You can try process tamer, a freeware at  http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/proctamer/  What this does is to reduce the process that is hogging the system and at least give you back some control from the 'freezing'. This works great for me when using XP. You can also see which process is the culprit
    b) From Bios set the CPU Stepping to be 'balance' instead of maximum performance for AC or battery operation mode.
    c) You can download an official window 7 that can be tested for 30 days before activation is required. Set a 30GB partition and install this into that partition. When bootup you can choose XP or window 7. This is for you to use window 7 to see if the freezing still occurs.

  • Skype freezes when I open it up from system tray a...

Whenever I try to open skype from system tray and when I start a chat with someone, Skype freezes and I have to wait for like 20-30 seconds before I am able to chat. I have a freshly installed windows 7 x64 and the newest skype version.

Same story for me! Ususally the other party can hear and see me before my end starts working. Except sometimes takes minutes for Skype to stabilize before I can use it.  Then it seems to work. Using Win 7 and Skype 7.1.0.105. The problem has existed since installing 7.1. Makes using Skype a real pain!
Internet Explorer is resident on computer, but I use Foxfire for browsing.

  • Skype freezes after fresh windows 7 install on new...

Hello, ever since I freshly installed win 7 on a new ssd, I've had issues with Skype. The program consistently freezes when I'm typing a chat message. On top of this, the people I skype have said that my audio will lag out when I'm talking with them; I've noticed the program being unresponsive at those times.
Anyway, I've gone through the forums trying every solution I could find (e.g. fresh skype install, giving firewall perms, uninstalling messenger plus etc.), and I haven't been able to correct the problem. Sfc scannow has also returned no errors.
    I've attached the dxdiag report.
    Thanks for any help.

Alright, the issue has been finally corrected. Skype no longer crashes randomly at launch, my friends can finally understand what I'm saying, and chat doesn't freeze.
What I did to correct the issue since the last update:
    - reinstall java
    - reset ie 11 settings
    - moved usb ps3eye cam to different usb port
Apparently my usb port is messed up... which is weird since it was fine before the fresh intall of win 7.
    Thanks for the help

  • Keyboard and mouse freeze randomly

My keyboard and mouse freeze up for 2-4 seconds at seemingly random intervals.  I could go for a couple hours without it happening, or like now, it has happened twice while writing this.  If I'm typing something when it freezes, nothing I type while it's frozen ends up showing up, but if I had hit a key right when it froze, it will repeat itself until I press something else after it unfreezes.  They keyboard and mouse both freeze at the same time, it's not one or the other.  It has nothing to do with standby like the topic below...it can happen right after I boot up or anytime thereafter.
My hardware is an eMachines M6805 laptop (upgraded to 2GB of RAM) and just a basic Dell USB mouse and keyboard.
I tried searching the forums, but the search box on here searches the entire web for some reason even if I tell it to search TechNet, so I apologize if this has already been answered.

I just had my Desktop freeze whilst I was using Media Player minimised to the taskbar.
I came back to my PC and couldn't use the keyboard or mouse. I plugged in a wired USB mouse and this did not work either. I then used the mouse and keyboard buttons on my MCE remote and still nothing happened, actually something happened as my hard drive
became very busy, but there was nothing happening on screen. I had to reboot to get back to normal operation.
I use a Logitech Bluetooth MX500 keyboard and mouse and have been having problems since I had Windows 7, but thought it was the keyboard and mouse at fault. This is the first time that I have encountered this problem, but I have had problems with the keys
sticking, very annoying when you're in Visual Studio and it goes and deletes a load of code for you because the backspace key was the one that stuck. The cursor also randomly jumps lines occasionally and inserts text where I don't want it. This wouldn't be
such an issue if I was a touch typist and could look at the screen whilst typing, but I am not and only realise the errors when I have finished typing.
Anyway, Mine is a custom built PC(all drivers and windows fully up to date) which ran XP with zero problems:
Gigabyte mboard and graphics card (Nvidia) with I5 processor and 4GB ram.
If this was a USB hub Powersave issue, then I would still expect the hub to wake up when a new device was pugged in, so I'm going to count that fix out.
I'm not sure that the freezing was a mouse/keyboard fault, I suspect that this is more a video driver fault as the computer did become very busy doing something when I used the MCE remote, it's just the screen didn't update to show what it was doing.
I should have looked at the taskbar clock to see if the time had updated, I'll do that next time if it happens again.
I've disabled the Power Save options for the hub that controls the mouse and keyboard, perhaps this will stop the keys sticking and jumping around when I'm typing in Visual Studio.

  • Constant Crashing on Skype 7.3 when advertisements...

WARNING. I may be very blunt with this as this has been happening for months now.
Alright, so, I've been using Skype for quite a while, I mean, it's the only way I can communicate with my best friend from School, and as an administrator of shiftos.net I use Skype to stay in contact with the community members of that site.
When I first started using Skype, I used the version bundled with Windows Essentials 2012, along with Movie Maker. This version was used to replace Windows Live Messanger and attempting to use Messanger would automatically update it to the version of Skype that came with Essentials 2012.
This version was the best version for me. It never lagged, the UI was nice and easy for me to see with my Retinitis-Pigmentosa and all, until... I upgraded to Skype 7.
Now, Everytime I minimize Skype for about the length of time it took me to write this message and restore it to say, check the ShiftOS Skype Group for any misbehaviours, Skype likes to take up to 5 minutes to render the user interface and even then when I finally get to the Skype Group, I have a 50% chance of a Not Responding dialog appearing.
The same thing happens whenever the right advertisement panel redraws itself to draw another advertisement. I'd be typing a message up, all of the sudden everything freezes within Skype. My computer remains fully operable and I could crack open Minecraft and play with no lag, but Skype freezes the moment the advertisement changes.
I also get the same sort of issues when my best friend from school calls me. I'd answer his call and I'd still see the little call dialog and the Skype window would go black. I can hear my friend as well as he can hear me however for quite some time I keep hearing the Skype ringtone and closing the calling notification makes it grey out as if it's not responding.
This also happens with Visual Studio 2012 for Desktop when minimizing it for periods of time and re-opening it however an upgrade to 2013 fixes that, and that's not really relevant.
Although I doubt there are any solutions, if there is, someone... please... share them! I love Skype and can't afford buying a smartphone nor want to pay to talk to my friends.

I had a sorta similar issue with Skype, only that it was the whole system that would crash, not only Skype, I solved this by blocking Internet access to the ads URL, but note that doing so will break your skype home, also I've only tested this on Skype 6, but it should work with 7.
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites then click on Sites, add https://apps.skype.com
Again this has the side effect of rendering Skype home's news feed unusable, but you wont have to deal with ads anymore.

  • 17" Macbook Pro late 2011 freezing randomly

Lately my 17" Macbook Pro (October 2011) has been freezing randomly. At first I thought the cause was high-usage applications, but apparently not. It's been freezing when I read something on reddit, when I'm on Facebook, when I open Photo Booth, or (the latest freeze) when I'm typing something in Text Edit.
When it froze and refused to boot back up (it got stuck on a grey screen, and I also got a vertical lined blue screen), I took it in. The repair guys figured it was the logic board, so they replaced it and the battery too.
Now tonight I just got it back, and it froze AGAIN. I was able to boot it back up (I had to do a hard boot), and it went to the login screen fine. However, when it got to the login screen, the fans started working overtime like crazy. My computer was vibrating, I could feel it in my fingers as I typed in my login info. Once everything was loaded, the fans slowed down pretty quick, and it's as quiet as a lamb right now.
Could this be a heat issue? Or maybe something to do with the hard drive? The vents were clear when booting, I didn't think to check the air though.
It's got two months of warranty left, would they take it in? I can't forcefully make it freeze (it happens randomly), so I can't really show them any proof.

You've the issue as discussed in this -> https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0 thread.
It's a problem with the way the GPU was soldered onto 15" and 17" machines. It's not everyone who suffers the same problem, but your symptoms match the same problem to a "t."
Read over some of the article and you'll see that you're not alone. Apple's 'fix' for the problem is to sell you a new logic board, but they can continue to fail one after the other. The only true 'fix' (and we'll just have to wait and see just how long these fixes work) is to have the GPU reballed onto the logic board.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
