Skype got hacked - charged by someone in Taiwan

Found out a charge for $29.99 was made using my paypal to Skype yesterday. Somehow someone got into my account and used the paypal information I had on record from years ago when I used to use Skype to charge money to the account. I haven't used Skype for a long time.

The great thing is that when I go into my account, I can't cancel the subscription so my paypal information will be deleted from my account. In the walkthrough on how to do this it says there is a link called "cancel subscription" under the "change payment method", but there isn't one in mine. It only has the change payment method link.
I would prefer to just have my entire Skype account deleted, but apparently that is not possible (which is total b.s.). Is there any way someone at Skype can delete the payment information from my account for me? I'd prefer to not have my money stolen because your system got hacked.

My Skype got hacked

Hello my skype account has been hacked...
Someone recently changed the password before few hours. He is now scamming my skype contacts. I want to recover my id immediately. Please help. Thank you

Skype account got hacked and i see unknown activit...

This morning I saw skype charge on credit card and I see unknown activity. somebody is calling using my account. I changed the password and still see the calling. I tried searching for the customer support phone number but was unable to do so. I even chatted with the customer representative but to no avail. I trusted your service and now I am stranded with some hacker using my account. There is no quick customer support and which is very frustrating.

My Account also got hacked and I too was charged $20. I too had seen some 200+ SMS sent to phone numbers in China. I think Skype servers are hacked and they are not informing users about it.

well a simpler and less "evil" possibility is a wireless mouse or some other signal interfering. Are you using a blutooth or other wireless mouse?
If you don't have any sharing turned on, it would take a pretty advanced hacker to gain control of your mac.
If you don't have remote login turned on, or screen sharing, or file sharing, it would be very very hard to do. But nothing's impossible.....

Skype acct hacked, I suspended acct, someone is still using it

I found out that my skype was hacked months ago. I immediately took action and suspended the account. I could not accurately fill out the form that skype has online because most of those quesitons I do nat have answers for (i.e when did you first register for skype, what was your last purchase on skype, etc) because I have had skype for so long and was having trouble logging in for any current information. So I called microsoft and they helped me suspend my account. I got a new one that I have been using. Now come to find out that my old skype account is still being used to send spam to my friends! What do I do??

Skype account hacked. Skype agent very helpful

So my skype account got hacked today. I made a call to a landline number in Taiwan for about 40 minutes, but while I was calling, I got 5 notices about account automatic recharge (I did set my account up so the account gets recharged when credit is low). I then checked my account history, there was a bunch of mobile calls to a Taiwanese cell number that started today. Each call lasted 30 mins (costing ~2.5 euroes each call). These 5 charges also showed up as pending on my bank account.
I used Skype live chat, and the agent Angela A. was really helpful and cancelled the 5 credit charges (worth over $60) to my bank account even though these recharged credits had been used (by the hacker). I want to thank her here again for her help. I realize a lot of threads out there seem to tell a different story, that Skype isnt very helpful on refunding charges made on hacked accounts. Maybe my case is different, since the charges are actually still pending and not made yet. But just want to point out that there are good people in Skype who are willing to help out.

With multiple subscriptions, Skype does not charge...

I have two subscriptions and Skype credit that cover calls to the same country, but Skype is not smart enough to charge to the cheapest rate. I have both "land line - 400 mins ", and "land line and mobile phone - 60 mins" subscriptions. When I call a land line, it charges the higher rate subscription "land line and mobile phone." It should charge the cheaper rate "land line" subscription instead.

I am about to relocate and will be calling both landlines and mobiles in Australia, so this issue also seems to affect me.
I want to buy the "unlimited landlines Australia" or "Unlimited World" subscriptions, plus the 400 minutes "mobiles & landlines Australia" subscription so I hope that in the year since your enquiry, Skype got smarter.

First things, first: change your account password immediately. If you have a payment method saved in your account, either delete it or ensure with the issuer of the payment method that no fraudulent charges have been posted.
Next, check that the most recent updates to your computer/operating system or device have been downloaded and installed. Also, update the files on your anti-virus software and run it as well.

Well, as the title says, my skype account got hacked. I think I was a victim of a fake skype email. The hacker managed to change the password to the account as well as the registered email. As soon as I realized it was stolen, I put in an account recovery appeal. They emailed me saying this.
"Hi! Thank you for contacting Skype customer support.This is in reference to your email dated 2/8/2014, regarding your account.We apologize for the inconvenience. We are happy to assist.Kindly provide your Skype name so that we can verify your account. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Annabel A. Skype Customer Service"
