Skype has stopped working (7.4) when making or rec...

Hi, whenever I make or receieve a call my skype crashes or sometimes it crashes soon as I log on. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am using the latest version of skype also.
Please can anyone help?

Try this:
Go to Windows Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on Command Prompt, select 'Run as administrator'.
The Command Prompt window should show:
C:\Windows\System32>
If this is not the case, then in the Command Prompt type:  cd c:\windows\system32 and press Enter.
Type this and then press Enter:
regsvr32  jscript.dll
Next type this and press Enter:
regsvr32  jscript9.dll
After each Enter you should receive a message saying that DllRegisterServer in XXX.dll succeeded.
Reboot your computer.
Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.
Open in your Internet Explorer this page and watch the response:

  • "Skype has stopped working" Error Message Windows 8.1 Skype 7.6

Hi, I just now installed the desktop version, I was previously using the other Windows 8 version, not sure what it's called but that doesn't matter. I was trying to call my friend and it said there was a problem with my mic. Well I bought a new mic and came home and it said there was a problem with my mic. I uninstalled it and installed the desktop version, thinking it would work better, but the desktop version tells me that it cannot detect my soundcard and to reboot my laptop. Upon starting up at the welcome screen, I continued to log in, and wait for my programs to load up. I opened skype, it closes without showing up, three more times I do this before running as admin. It tries to load and then gives me the crash report "Skype has stopped working" and says windows will let me know when they find a fix.

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

It seems it occurred after an app update last night.  I have connected my help desk they have reported it Skype.  Skype does not provide phone assistance.

Most likely this is one of the several cases when the latest Skype 7.0 version is not able correctly to interpret BIOS data. At least, this was the issue with the previously reported cases with this error message:
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00d527d7
It seems that Skype has identified the issue and a fix is promised in one of the upcoming Skype versions.

Meanwhile, the working solution is to uninstall the 7.0 version and install the previous 6.21.0.104 Skype version:

  • 7.4: "Skype has stopped working"

when I open skype and sign in it works for a few seconds and then fades out and windows gives me a message saying "skype has stopped working" and then tells me that they will notify me if a solution to the problem is found (yeah right).
I tried renaming my skype appdata and deleted my DbTemp folder but nothing works.
I also ran my DirectX diagnostics tool.

  • Skype 7.7 Crashes on Windows 10 | "Skype has stopped working"

Hi all!First of all, I would like to say that I recently upgraded to Microsoft Windows 10 from 8.1 as of this morning. I love it, but there is one problem; my Skype client won't start up. As soon as I boot it up, it says "Skype has stopped working. Windows will try to find a solution", or something along those lines. I have uninstalled Skype, renamed the folder, disabled my firewall, deleted files in my %temp% and Skype folder, etc. etc. to no avail. When I did a DxDiag it said no problems were found in every category. However. I did find an interesting entry in the log that might be of help, so here it is. • Skype 7.7.103 'Skype has stopped working' - Windows 7

I have tried solutions offered by similar posts, but have failed to come up with a solution that works.   http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-7-7-has-stopped-working/m-p/4055780#M357080 I have a newly built PC with Windows 7, and when we upgraded to Skype 7.7, it has consistantly given the "Skype has stopped working" message every time I try to use it. I have my DxDiag results attached. Here is the error log entry from my Event Viewer...Faulting application name: Skype.exe, version: 7.7.64.103, time stamp: 0x55b7d8d0
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18869, time stamp: 0x556363bc
    Exception code: 0xe06d7363
    Fault offset: 0x0000c42d
    Faulting process id: 0x15e8
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d0d2f5e88be243
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\KERNELBASE.dll Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
