Skype Home Unavailable for weeks - what can i do?
Hello,
Please could you help? Since updating my skype on my Windows 7 laptop, i've been unable to make / receive video calls on my laptop (i do not have a smart phone or a tablet). The message i have on my home page is "Skype Home Unavailable at the moment. Check back later to see your news and alerts." I have Windows 7 & 64 bit version, Service Pack 1. I have tried your troubleshooting help on your support page and disabled the compatibility mode as advised and i have rebooted my laptp to no avail. Your help pages extensively cover problems with Windows XP (a downgraded version of mine) or Windows 8 however not much is mentioned about windows 7. My daughter in Australia has been trying to call me and i would really like to see on a call with skype.
Any help would be grately appreciated,

Your connection status on Skype is Offline. When Online, the status icon next to your name must be solid green with a white checkmark inside. Try to change the status using the dropdown arrow next to this icon.

its easy to start a conversation on skype:
-Choose a contact and start talking

i can call contacts, text them, change profile pictures and do what ever i want
the only problem is with Skype Home

and the fact that i got this problem for more than a year shows you it has nothing to do with updating Skype

Try this:
Reset all Internet Explorer settings:

Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings. Make sure that the only option selected is “Automatically detect settings”.
Clear all Temporary Internet Files.
Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General. In the section “Browsing history” press the “Settings” button and in the next window the “View files” button. Delete all files from the Temporary Internet Files folder.
What do you see now when you open this link in your Internet Explorer?

When I log into Skype it says "Skype Home Unavaila...
When I go on Skype on my andriod it lists all the contacts that are online, but when I switch to my computer it just says there all offline, and has a message that says "Skype Home Unavaibale" when I go to Skype home...How can I Skype people from my comp and not my phone ? i already tried earsing and re downloading Skype.

There are 3 possible causes for this message:
1] activation server is down. Very rare occurrence but does happen.
2] iPhone is jailbroken or hacked
3] computer on which the iTunes is trying to activate the iPhone has been
used to hack or jailbreak iOS devices.
In scenario 1], retry the activation. If the server were down, it would be up in short order.
In scenarios 2] & 3], you are on your own. Google may provide some direction. Terms of Use
for this forum prohibit discussion of hacked or jailbroken iPhones. -

Sorry but that makes no sense.
The Lion install files are not stored on your computer so they can't be damaged. When using the Lion Recovery HD and you want to Re-Install Lion the install files are downloaded from the internet before the actual install begins.
If at one time you saved the Lion install files, secifically the InstallESD.DMG, and created your own Lion Install USB thumb drive and that is what you are booting from then this same type of thing has happened to me.
If you can't boot to the current Lion install, or you wiped your hard drive, you can try booting to the included Recovery HD and then download and install Lion or try the Online Internet Recovery HD system by holding down the Command+r keys OR the Command+Option+r keys when starting the system. One of those keyboard combos will take you to the online Lion Recovery system where you can download and install Lion. -

FYI: Damage like that is not covered by warranty, & all Apple will offer you is an out of warranty replacement...cost, in the US, for an iPhone 4, is US $149. -

I had the same problem this weekend. The iphone 4s needed Itunes10.5 to sync to her Asus Windows 7 Laptop. When I tried to download from the Apple website I got the error that the windows installer was missings files or something like that. I uninstalled itunes and tried again but that didn't work. Then I redownloaded itunes 10.3 just to have a working version in case I gave up. Then I found site that suggested I update Windows by going through the start menu and while doing that I found an update Apple itunes file.
Goto Start and type Widows Update in the seach window. Click on check for updates (I already was current with all updates but I suggest you download the updates if there are some available.
Goto start and this time just type update in the search window. Look for the Apple itunes update link and click on it. It found there were updates for itunes 10.5, Quick time, Safari, and Icloud. I checked all the updates except for Safari, since we don't use it (yet).
The install started then seemed to stall at one spot for ~3min but then completed successfully. I open itunes and had her synced with Outlook Contact, Email, Calender, and Notes in 5 minutes. I did already configure Outlook by going to tools and Trust Center.

You can open Settings on each device and go to Settings > General > Usage and then wait a second or so for Storage to list the amount of storage used by each app on the device. That will give you an idea on where you might focus on reducing storage. Photos are typically a big user of storage on iPhones. You can move photos from the phone to a computer to free up space. What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. -

You are going to have to take it to the Apple Store to see if they can do anything for you. The Home button is critical for using your device. You need to get it fixed.

This plug-in works fine on my Mac Pro with Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6 but fails on a new Macbook Air.
Reinstalling the plug-in did not make any difference. What can cause this error?Thanks Chris, That was my first thought too but this same plug-in works on another installation of CS4. This is a Mac installation and the plug-in is Universal so it should work. Is there any other possible cause for this error? Would Photoshop refuse to load a plug-in in a low memory situation?
Also, The Flash extensions:Connections and Kuler are working OK, I just copied a little more out of the System Info report than I needed to.
