SKYPE is **bleep**ed up!

So I've been using skype starting from the time when it became so popular and I loved it. I've been using Yahoo messenger ever since we had a computer at home way back 2004. We switched to skype because someone recommended it that it was good and it is indeed good. Fast, cool user-interface and over-all, its good! I did also use it in contacting my client from all over the world.
Recently I reformatted my PC. Installed new programs and apps. When I tried installing skype and the first one is the version 6 and when I  tried logging in. It says "can't connect to skype." Someone told me to update my skype into a newer version which is 7. It went fine and I can login my account but when I try to video call. The eff I was shocked! I couldn't hang-up or end the call???? Such a big mess on the recent update! You need to logout and restarted your PC  because the call won't end! When I tried logging in back. The eff again, I can't login and it says that I already logged in to the computer? I have read some solution to that problem which is you need to reboot your PC into safe mode and rename the skype folder. Or delete the temp file of skype folder. So everytime we logout and login. I need to reboot my machine into safe mode and do it all over again which is the PAIN IN THE ASS. Plus the biggest problem is that whenever I call, it won't end or hang-up!
Such a big mess for Skype and Microsoft. Switching to other application cause it seems many of us are having the same issue without any correct/right solution that had been addressed by the developer.
I am using Windows 8
My machine is iCore III

Hi, Robby1029tx, and welcome to the Community,
What precisely are you so upset about?
I am remiss to guess what you are alluding to from your post.
There is a good probability that another Community member may be able to assist.
While I miss a few old features, the newest versions of Skype are vast improvements in audio and video quality over what I recall back in the days of 3.x and 4.x ...

  • Skype Opens Links....In Skype

Not cool guys.  If I click a YouTube link, I want that link to open in my default application (YouTube app) NOT in Skype's **bleep**ty browser. I am downgrading my Android Skype as I type this and have disabled automatic updates. Stop screwing with what works and what people like.

Do you have Citrix Receiver installed?  If  you do, uninstall it and see if the problem goes away.

  • Cannot log in/connect

    Hi!
I am Norwegian, so please forgive spelling mistakes, and I am very thankful if you will explain thoroughly, as I am not that big of a computer nerd either...
I am using Windows 8.1, 64 bits - and Norton. Dont understand much of how to operate Norton, could not even find the version number, but in Windows control panel it says Norton 21.6.0.32.
I had Skype 6.22 I think, but reinstalled it completely, following the long version of the directions and removed all traces of Skype anywhere (I think I managed to do that according to the recipe), and downloaded version 7.0. But didnt help. Still will not log in, it tries for a long, long time, the white circle is going on forever, untill it says Cannot connect in the end.
I have had lots of problems with Internet Explorer on my computer - several times it stopped working, and I have had to deactivate and reactivate it - sometimes several times before it started working again. I am soooooo tired of the whole computer and Windows 8.... blaaaaaah! And now Skype is **bleep**ed up too....
I have tried to search, and I found lots of topics on this, but I have not been able to fully understand the advice given. For instance "check proxy" tells me nothing - do not know what it is or where to check it.... I am not that into how the computer works.... Hope one does not have to have a Master's degree in computers to use Skype these days...
Can anyone suggest, in a way for an amateur to understand, how to fix this? I will be most grateful - as my beloved fiance is on the other side of the country for weeks, and we would like to talk as we used to.....

  • Why is every skype update so **bleep**ty?

I got skype 7.0.0 on Windows and it is a complete bull**bleep**. Gyes, can you hire someone who can stop your developers and rollback all the changes? Please sell Skype back, Microsoft did nothing good for Skype.
Skype on smartphones is a bull**bleep** obviously, but why should you make it soo bad on PC? Linux version is much better now, but it goes with that **bleep**ty two-windows UI.

    Hi,
Please take a look at the customization options described here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/7-0-and-your-feedback-on-the-new-chat-UI/td-p/3...
Would be great if you can be a bit more specific as what you don't like about the new version so we can take that feedback into acocunt for the next iterations of the client development.

  • Skype account blocked and they won't unblock it.

I had this really old skype account, I believe I created it when they released skype, but I had like 7 contacts or less, and used it like once a month, sometimes once a year, I don't know. But I used msn messenger a lot, and my account was really old aswell, and when they merged it with skype, I had to merge my accounts, so that's what I did. but at that time, it was so complicated, you had like two contact lists, on the same software you could send messages as a messenger account, or a skype account, to messenger or skype contacts, and it was really not user friendly, it was impossible to use, even tried to clean my list, deleting duplicated entries, people i never talked to, but still didn't do it, so once again, I abandoned skype and went to facebook. so last year I went away and wanted to do a video call to my girlfriend, so we installed skype. I didn't remember what account name I should use, or wich password was correct, and for some reason my account got blocked. i'm not even sure that i entered a wrong password, but it got blocked anyway. when i tried to retrieve it, said i had to contact support and cmon, to reset your password you have to contact support???? no thanks, decided not to use skype again, and made a video call with facebook.  but as of this week, I wanted to make a video call from my android phone, and decided to give skype another go, people told me that it was a good video app, so why not. and there was i trying to retrieve my password, when i ran through this form to fill with a lot of irrelevant information: if i "used credit card to pay for a skype service or if i used paypal." how the hell should i remember a thing i did once in my life and many years ago? i don't know if i used credit card or paypal, how should i know wich credit card i used? ok, next field: "what email address you provided when you registered." ok, when i registered my first skype account, or my messenger email wich i merged later? because i don't know what email i was using back when they launched skype, ffs. so i put my messenger email and procceeded. next question, when did i create my skype account (year AND month). again, my old account, or the one i merged later? and how the hell should i freaking now the year or even the month i created it??? was like centuries ago, cmon!!?! next question, "provide five names that are in your contact list." heck, I had hundreds of people on my messenger, wich i often deleted and replaced, and barely 5 or 7 contacts on skype, wich i never used, and when they merged, i reorganized my list, so i had no idea wich list they were talking about, or who was on it. next question, "what is the total cost of a recent order that you have made." you're kidding, right? next, on what date did you place the recent order (dd/mm/yy)? ... next, "please provide two phone numbers that you have recently called or contacted using skype." god, i tried to order a pizza once, and i called my mother another time, but how am i supposed to remember wich pizza place, and if i called mother at home, work, cellphone 1, 2, or what? jesus. I answered the other questions properly, but apparently they 'don't have enough information to retrieve my account" thanks microsoft. I really wanted to use that account, since it's linked with my microsoft email, wich is also my xbox live account, and some other stuff, and I don't want to have 2 ms addresses, but ok, i really needed to make a video call, so i tried to create another account. I was on my pc trying to solve this problem, so I opened skype website and clicked create account. luckily (or is it?) there was an option to create account with facebook, so that's what I did. and when I went to my phone to login, bam, no option to log in with facebook, and when you create an account that way, you just don't have a name or password to log in on your mobile. good job ms! thanks for ruining my day, and good luck beating apple, google or facebook when you keep treating your costumers like **bleep**.

I've recently noticed that my skype account has been blocked. I don't know what the issue is. I have the password, but it won't let me make calls. I have cash on the account too. But now it is requesting me to fill in forms. What year did I set up my account? 10 years ago or so, maybe 11, maybe 9, 8, 7, not sure. What card did I use to last put money on it.... not sure, it was about a year ago, debit or credit? Can't remember. But out of the 10 questions, I seem to have got one wrong, but it won't tell me which one. I have asked customer service for help, but the genius just asked me to refill in the form. I did again, same issue, something wrong (waiting for 24 hours for failure notification on both occasions) I've asked him to point out what is wrong, but genius refuses to. Honestly, a pathetic customer service experience. 0/100 score. Just some autogenerated BS from India. I've had to now set up an entirely new Skype account. So warning, if your account is blocked, don't bother with customer service. They are useless. Just set up a new account and forget about what ever cash is on your account. Thanks Skype!!

  • Hey guys, just got swindled by Skype, don't know w...

So a few days ago I discovered that Skype on my Windows Phone didn't have me logged in anymore. I tried logging in several times but to no avail, I was told that my account info was incorrect. I tried resetting my password, but both times I tried it told me to contact customer service. I sent an online form request detailing the issue and recieved this response back from support:
    Hello,
    Thank you for your response
Unfortunately, we cannot re-activate your account. We take the safety of Skype customers very seriously and need to apply certain restrictions to protect our customers' details.
In accordance with paragraph 11.2 of the Skype Terms of Use we have terminated your right to use the Skypesoftware, and have prevented any further access to your Skype account.
This is because you are in breach of paragraph 6.3 (c) of the Terms of Use which prohibits the use of the Skypesoftware to send unsolicited communications. Any Skype Credit that was in your account is non-refundable.

Apparently "unsolicited communications" were being sent from my Skype account. However, I am the only one with access to this account, and this account has only recently (within the last two weeks) been active again after being dormant for more than a year.
I sent another email to support and recieved an even more canned response:
    Hello Stephen,
Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Support!
We're sorry to know that you can no longer access your Skype account. Upon checking, unfortunately it is not possible to restore your Skype account. As what we have explained in the previous email. We have applied restrictions to protect Skype users.
Kindly let us know if you have any questions and we are happy to help you.

Needless to say I am quite fed up. I tried contacting live support via a new account and I had one of the most unhelpful conversations ever:
You are now chatting with 'Alberto F'.
    Stephen: hello
Alberto F: Hello! Welcome to Skype Live Support! My name is Albert. How may I help you?
Stephen: So my other (primary) Skype account has been blocked for "unsolicited communications" but I have not sent any such thing from that account. I keep trying to get an explanation of what happened to my account but I am not getting much help through filling out the customer service form online.
Stephen: I would like to know what happened to my Skype account ([Redacted for privacy]) and why it can't be activated and what I can do to resume my Skype services (they are very important for my day to day activities)
Alberto F: I understand that your account has been blocked for unsolicited communication and want to get it unblocked. I'd be happy to assist you with it.
Alberto F: To make sure I am pulling up the right account, may I have your Skype name and first name please?
Stephen: Thank you, I appreciate any help you can provide. I haven't been able to make any calls for three days now.
Stephen: The Skype name is [Redacted for privacy] and my name is  [Redacted for privacy]
    Alberto F: Thank you Stephen.
    Stephen: Yep
Alberto F: Thank you for waiting Stephen.
    Stephen: No problem
Alberto F: We apologize, but for the security and privacy of your account, your account is restricted at the moment
Stephen: That is a canned response. Why can't anyone tell me why my account is blocked? I just activated it two weeks ago and I AM THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS USED IT.
Stephen: I keep getting the runaround from you guys. I am told that my account is blocked but nothing else. Not how to reactivate my account. Why it is blocked. What I can do. If I can start a new account.
Alberto F: As described in the Skype Privacy Statement (http://www.skype.com/en/legal/privacy), we are only able to provide account information or make changes in the account, in cases where we are able to verify the account user’s identity. Unfortunately, due to lack of information required, we will not be able to help you to access the account
Stephen: I am getting very very few solutions from you guys at all. I have payed you my money and I am not able to get barely any response from customer serivece.
    Alberto F: Online verification form
Stephen: That doesn't make any sense: "Unfortunately, due to lack of information required, we will not be able to help you to access the account" you have not asked me for any information but my name and login. Ask me anything: what do you need to know?
Alberto F: Once you submit the form, the information will be forwarded to a special department for review. You will receive a follow up email within 24 hours.
Stephen: I have submitted that form three times now, I am not doing it again. This is crap. Are you a human or a machine? You keep typing out canned responses.
Stephen: Why can't I reactivate my account? <--- see direct question, it's easy to answer. Like this question: Q: what color is the sky A: Blue. See, easy.
Stephen: This is the response I am getting from you guys: What color is the sky? Answer from skype: "Please refer to our "sky colors" link to look at possible colors that the sky may or may not be"
Alberto F: I apologize Stephen, As much as I want to process your request now, we really need to go through the user verification form. This is to protect the privacy and security of your account. I assure you that once we receive the results of the user verification form, you will receive a follow up email as soon as possible.
Stephen: Yes, I received a "follow up email" three times now. And three times I have been told "we are sorry but we cannot reactivate your account".
Stephen: Why would I contact you guys again only to be told off again?
Stephen: Can you just take the remainder of my service and apply it to this account? I paid for a month of service, I still have 10 days that I haven't utilized (14 if you count the days I haven't been able to use the service).
Alberto F: That is because the answers you have provided regarding the account might not be accurate
    Stephen: Bull
Stephen: I am the only one that knows the answers to the questions you guys asked and I answered all of them as best as I could. I don't know every single phone number and contact in my list by heart but I provided all the information that I could possibly provide.
    Stephen: Three times now.
Alberto F: I'm sorry, since your account is restricted, we cannot access it at the moment.
Stephen: Okay, why was my account restricted in the first place? Huh, can you tell me that? I didn't do anything. So what is it that my account supposedly did? Did I send a threatening email to the president? Did I declare war on Russia? Did I offend Bill Gates? What? I have been given nothing but shoirt, vague responses from you guys.
Stephen: I have literally used the **bleep** thing for TWO WEEKS. I haven't used my Skype account in a year and all of a sudden you guys decide to screw me over?
Alberto F: The skype name you have provided is [Redacted for privacy] and it is currently restricted
Stephen: Are you really not a machine?
Stephen: You didn't answer any of my **bleep** questions.
Stephen: Yes you and I both know [Redacted for privacy] is restricted and I know what my account name is :/
Stephen: So why say it like that?
Stephen: Are you not allowed to answer questions or be helpful being a Skype rep?
Stephen: I asked why you blocked my account in the first place. Acceptable responses could be: "because we hate you", "because, haha, we have your money sucker", "because your account appears to have been hacked and we have locked it to protect you", "because we thought it would be funny". See these are all ANSWERS.
Alberto F: I'm sorry, we are only concerned about the privacy and security of your account
    Stephen: What is your name?
    Alberto F: I'm Albert.
Stephen: CONGRATULATIONS ALBERT! YOU JUST ANSWERED A QUESTION! Now please answer a question that isn't your **bleep** name. Why is my account blocked? Why reason? Details, that is what I want to know. It is only fair to me. I don't understand why this is soooo difficult for you guys.
Alberto F: Your account was restricted as it violated our Terms of Use.
Stephen: How did it violate the ToU?
Alberto F: Skype Terms of Use
Stephen: "UNSOLICITED COMMUNICATIONS"? AS PER PART 6 SECTION 3?
Alberto F: Kindly read through it. I cannot see on my end the exact reason why it was blocked
Stephen: See if this was a court case, the judge would ask the attorney: what did the defendant do" and the attorney would say "your honor he was speeding"
Stephen: Ohhhhhh, so you guys can block my account but not give me a reason? Just point to a vague subsection in a ToU?
    Stephen: That is bullcrap.
Alberto F: What I would advise you is to fill up the Online form and answer all of the questions accurately inorder for your account to be verified.
Stephen: I am completely angry now. This is unfair. I have done nothing wrong. Not only has Skype customer support been woefully incompetent at telling me why my account was blocked, but I am not even given any options AS A PAYING CUSTOMER as to how I can resume my service, a very important service that I use and PAY YOU MONEY FOR
Stephen: I paid you guys money for a service that you decided to randomly terminate, and now you are giving me the giant runaround. I have contacted Skype via the Online form three times now and all three times I have received an unhelpful canned response telling me to kindly screw off. I am tired of this. I can't believe how much I am being screwed right now.
Alberto F: We can only answer your question and assist you if your account is authenticated.
Stephen: I have my social security number, I can send you a picture of my birth certificate, what else do you need? I sent you guys the form three times.
Stephen: "Thank you for your response Unfortunately, we cannot re-activate your account. We take the safety of Skype customers very seriously and need to apply certain restrictions to protect our customers' details. In accordance with paragraph 11.2 of the Skype Terms of Use we have terminated your right to use the Skype software, and have prevented any further access to your Skype account. Stephen: SEE!
Stephen: You guys are completely ---.
Alberto F: I understand. Kindly fill out the online verification form again and submit it to verify your account
Stephen: And how many times do I need to do this? Three or four more times? Is that the magic number for you quacks?
Alberto F: We need you to do it in order for your account to be authenticated
Stephen: I understand, but I have already filled it out. Why do you think that if I fill it out again that anything different will occur?
Stephen: I have recieved three responses from you guys telling me that my account is dead
Alberto F: It will be verified if you have answered all of the questions related to the account accurately
    Stephen: And I have.
Stephen: At least to my ability.
Stephen: I would venture to say at least 90% of the questions are correct.
Alberto F: That is good to hear.
Stephen: Sure, I suppose. It would be good if it was acceptable for you guys. Apparently it still hasn't been good enough the last three times I have done it.
Alberto F: I would suggest that you submit the form now and wait for the response in 24 hours
Stephen: Whatever. I have to go. You are absolutely no help. Skypoe really needs to invest in some better customer service, seriously :/
So now I am unsure as to what to do. I really need Skype as I use it on my Windows Phone for calling out. I have tried filliong out another support request but I am sure I will recieved another canned response about how the account cannot be reactivated. Does anyone have any bright ideas?

  • Error Message: "Skype can not start because the system is not available"

Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

    Okay!
I'm newbie here, but it doesn't matter. I dont want to do here anything else, just write off my opinion about the Microsoft's "new" Skype, and I hope they will read...
This is a cropped image - of course hungarian, because I'm hungarian, but I think many of us could see this as well. How this is possible? "The Skype can not start because the system is not available" *** What kind of system? The Skype was on a P2P system, where is impossible that the system is not available! This is why the skype was much better than the Microsoft's messenger. Then they bought it, and make it wrong...
I found a solution for this problem, this can happen if my client is not updated. But IT IS!
How does it works? Can we use the **bleep** Skype how we would like to use? Or this time we need to find an other application (like Viber), and using that while they not buying that as well, just because that is better?

  • Why is skype the worst program I have ever laid my...

This program is such a **bleep**ing joke. Every single time skype updates it does the exact opposite of "improving my experience". I have no idea how my favorite messenger program has morphed into this peice of absolute garbage that I'm dealing with now. It started with updates only adding advertisements, now with skypes new update that was COMPLETELY forced by the way it is almost unusable at this point. I've noticed recently that closing skype made my game counter-strike:global offensive run without any lag, and all the lag that was being caused was from skype, how is it a single program can lag my entire computer, how could the design of a program be so awful. Now I cannot "find" any messages sent or received. I have changed no computer setting, I have not changed any skype setting this all happen from it's own updates alone. Messages literally load in random order, it loads all my msgs in the past week or something and puts new msgs somewhere scrambled in with them in all different areas (never places the newsest messages at the bottom). I just now woke up and noticed skype was updating, it had been all night that means and it made my computer run stressfully all night whilst not accomplishing any update and failing to stop itself from trying to update more. I actually literally had to reset my router which I rarely have to do b/c skype updates knocked my internet off. This program is a **bleep**ing joke and will die as soon as something better comes along, anyone using an altnerative already?

It doesn't help to change the clock back to correct time. When the clock was wrong, the sent/received messages were labelled with the wrong time and are now misplaced. The only what you can do now is either to clear the whole chat history or to try to correct the wrong timestamp of the misplaced messages or just delete them.

Preface: Sorry, I think this is really simple thing but I tend to be verbose when I'm trying to describe the issue.  How would I find out what is my Skype account name? Or more precisely the login name? (I mean of course my own name is on the accout, but I want the "account" name, not the name on the accout, heh) I have an old hotmail account, which has become live/messanger/microsoft account and now after Messanger was removed, Skype account as well. I can login into any of these by logging from the Live/Microsoft account, but what is my Skype account if I want to login using that? On Skype program and website, both list my hotmail address as well as "live:hotmailaddess" part before @ character. But I can't login to Skype using the address, "live:address" or just "address". I can't find anything else on the pages. I tried logging out from the website and then using the recovery option "I want to find out my Skype account" (the website is in Finnish so my translation might not be accurate to what it actually is in English). I typed in the hotmail adress many times since the it asked it for many times a row and continued the steps, finally I typed in the address and capcha , then again it asked the address. I think I made a mistake there, because I think it actually wanted on the last time the alternative address. The website was not too clear about it specially since it wants the address so many times. It displays only a small portion of it and since my alternative address is practically identical to the main address, just an underscore is changed to hyphen, well...So finally it displayed "IF the account address is xxxx for whatever a code has been sent to it". Yeah well since I guess typed in the wrong address, I've received nothing on either. This whole ordeal started today few hours ago when  I tried to login to the **bleep** thing. I updated the Skype program, since an upgrade have been around for some time now, and since it always resets the autologin information, I had to manually type them in, and it kept asking for alternative verification address or phone number. There was no way to bypass that. Just to make it clear, it wanted me to give such info, not use the alternative thing since so far I've never given any alternative ways to login or reset account.
Somehow at first I was able to finally get in without giving any alternative info, I kept trying to login over and over, occasionally I tried to login using the "Skype account", but since I don't know the account I could only login using the Live/Microsoft account. Then I logged off from the program, and after that I tried to login back, it wanted to manually login again, and it kept asking from the alt details and I couldn't anyhow bypass that. I also tried logging into Hotmail/Outlook.com from the website as well as Skype(from website), both ways wanted the info but to both I finally somehow managed to get in. I mean the websites, logging inside the program failed all the time. Anyway finally I remembered I had made the second account so I figured I give it as alt address. I got that thing in OK, the second address just has hotmail.com, so I could easily login there by another browser and that didn't want any extra verifications. But before this last attempt, I had used the same "I want to know my Skype ID" feature from the program. To clarify, before linking the second address to my main address. But since I was having so much trouble with getting into Skype(and as well as it's Messanger part) I think I didn't check them out. Plus I had trouble getting into the mail as well, although I finally got in. Soooo...the two mails received in the primary address, "Your Skype Name token" messages which have a link and verification number, they won't work anymore. I try either, and neither works. My guess is they got invalidated by the third request or by either finally adding the alternative address. AND, since the third time I mistook it asking the same **bleep** address for the third or fourth time in the last request and gave the main address not the alt address it probably didn't send the code anywhere. And now I tried again the thing but it refuses to go any further than the first step, because it says I've used it too often in the last 24 hours. So, surely the account name should read someplace?I repeat, I can perfectly login into Skype in web and the program, I know the password and hotmail addresses and all that, but the two types of accounts it lists after logging in, neither work for login. Or does it mean I don't actually have a Skype account, just the Live/Microsoft account which I can only use to login to Skype using that other option? I'm starting to think this is the case.

I am definetly starting to think I don't actually have a skype name. Now I tried again since the 24 hour restriction went off. First from Skype webpage ->sign in -> forgotten your skype name? ->there I enter my hotmail address ->send mail ->then it moves off from Skype and into account.live.com, where it's no longer asking anything Skype related: Why are you having trouble signing in?I forgot my passwordI know my password, but can't sign inI think someone else is using my Microsoft account
So I obviously choose the second option last time since it's the closest available option for my problem, but then it gives me options: Get back into your accountWe can help you reset your password and security info. First, enter your Microsoft account and the characters shown. So again it asked for my address and captcha, and after that I could choose to "verify my identity" by choosing the alt email, but since that is slight garbled and cannot be differented from the primary address, and I was already so pissed off from typing the same address over and over, so at that point I mistakenly wrote the main address again where it wanted to verify it by asking the whole alternative address and thus it never sent the account reset email for the Microsoft/Live account. But since I originally had no problems with that Microsoft account, all I wanted was the "Skype Name", and since the only way to try to find it jumps into the restore Microsoft account thing,  I'm assuming I don't have one which I could use to login to Skype, so all I can use is the Microsoft/Live account.

  • Skype Failed to install error 1603 after windows r...

Hey everyone! Thanks for any help in advanced.
Honestly after losing access to an old account and making a new account I've still been a long time fan of skype and love free 1 on 1 video calls. I'm really hoping this is an easy fix because honestly I've been looking at the skype community forums for the last hour and havn't been able to find a fix.
About 2 and a half hours ago I reduced the size of my only partiton on my 500 GB harddrive as much as I could. After doing this I reinstalled windows on the new 200ish GB partition. After installing and loading windows I coppied skype, smite, and steam from D:\Program Files to C:\Program Files (x86) and attempted to run skype. Skype opened and I signed in as usual but skype was having a really high CPU usage and kept reading/writing to some statistics.db file at several GB/s (Total IO was like 1.8GB/s, mostly write I think). The 13% cpu usage, although concerning as abnormally high, didnt really bog down performance too much. This high disk usage was really driving my mad as when it peaked my computer would almost stop responding and skype.exe would stop responding (although it resumed eventually). Skype in this state was unusable as any time the window was focused it almost crashed.
After this I decided to reinstall skype instead of using the backup I had. I went to uninstall skype and found that it didnt show up on the list to "uninstall a program" so I tried following as many steps I could at https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-skype-for...
I've also followed all the steps here except for installing an earlier version of skype as I'm not sure what version to use. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-Problems-Troubleshooting/td-p/52260
I force ended skype.exe then made backups of my skype user and pictures folders. I skipped step 3 since it wasn't in the list. I then did steps 4-6. While doing this I noticed it said there may be "up to 50" references to skype in the registry but I noticed there were a lot more. I'm not exactly sure how many there were but I counted up to 40 and when I noticed I was only half way through the registry I started spamming "delete" key "enter" (to confirm deletion) as fast as I could.  I'd say there were at least 70 skypes in the registry. I'm not sure if this registry includes things from my other installation of windows or if it got **bleep**ed up because of they way I tried to install skype.
After doing all this with my registry I rechecked to make sure the skype program files and skype app data folders were deleted and then tried to reinstall skype. Downloading from http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/ I tried to reinstall it and all I did was unchecked "run skype when windows starts" hit next unchecked the bing and skype click to call stuff, hit next. After it said installing for a while it said installation failed error 1603.
I tried following advice of several posts on the forums and other sites, including going through the registry again, using Microsofts FixIt for install/uninstalls, and trying to install skype from another administrator account. After looking at several posts, trying all these fixes, and looking into it myself I'm really not sure what to do.
I've looked at all of the following posts and tried all the fixes I saw.

http://www.msigeek.com/715/how-to-troubleshoot-the-error-1603-fatal-error-during-installation (This page gave me an "Error establishing database connection" page)
Not really sure what else to say or do, I've never really had to debug any programs or windows features before, and the only time I ever messed with the registry was a few windows installs before when I had to delete several instances of a self-reinstalling virus on my computer that spammed processes and lagged my computer.
Edit: After seeing this link I tried rerunning Microsoft's FixIt Install/Uninstall with the program ID from the folder name at %programdata%\Skype. I tried doing this and installing Skype from SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi. Installation failed with some failed to read file totally forgot what it was. I then tried using the standard InstallSkypeFull.exe and it gave an actual error this time instead of the apparently "generic" error 1603 (see attached picture) After this installation failed I tried reinstalling from the 6.1.0.129.msi and it didn't say it failed. I'm about to try and open it.
Anddd opening Skype failed with the error message in the attached skype2 picture. I'm just going to close everything related to that except for this post and I'm going to close all my installers and debug stuff I have open and just wait for a reply. Currently I believe the system thinks skype is installed but I can't open it.

I'm afraid that after all the manipulations your system is so messed up that a regular Skype installation is no longer possible.
    Try this:
Download but not run this msi-installer for Skype 6.9.0.106 version:
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi
Create a folder on your computer where you want Skype application to be located. This folder can also be C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\, but any other location will work too.
Now using the procedure described here:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/How-to-update-Skype-without-using-any-Skype-ins...
extract Skype.exe file from the SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi file and copy this Skype.exe file to the selected installation folder.
Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). You will have to start Skype using this new shortcut.
P.S. There is a new link to the latest Lessmsi program:

  • Skype does not want to join group calls at all.

Hello.I recently got this very unusual problem with Skype. While I was talking in a group conversation, my internet bugged out, and as a result, of course, it kicked me out of the call. Afterwards, the internet started working just fine,  but now it doesn't even let me call anyone, and I can't join group chats. When I call someone, it says that they were not called, or when I try to join a group call, it just stays silent for a couple of seconds, and kicks me out. My friends on the other side of the call say that I'm just ringing, but not joining the call.I have reinstalled Skype at least 5 times, restarted my computer, deleted Skype and reinstalled it yet again, and even got an error 3-4 times saying that the installation could not compelte correctly.I don't have a clue what the problem could be. And my headphones work just fine, so it can't be that. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah i'm with you there. plus, haven't you seen the new skype in web browser now. Its in a beta right now and probably going to be legit. First of all, Fix your program first. We don't need more pieces of useless **bleep** for skype. We just need it fixed. so stop sitting with your thumbs up your ass and actually make your program not a piece of **bleep**. Before skype was amazing bit now, like everything else microsoft has made, it went down fast. So please do us and yourself a favor fixed this bug already.

Will you people at microsoft will ever bother to fix your program? It's passed enough time for a huge bug to be fixed. And don't give us crappy solutions like "HEY ERASE YOUR FULL SKYPE HISTORY INCLUDING CHAT AND CALLS, BUT YOU CAN MANUALLY GET IT BACK BECAUSE I TOLD YOU TO RENAME THE FOLDER SKYPE_OLD" which isn't a fix but a smelly workaround?
D A M N, get to work, and instead of releasing 70540 new versions of it, just fix the current versions already.
I have to bother everytime the call creator and kindly ask him to close the whole conversation for everyone and make a new one, otherwise I can't join back.
Get to work and fix this.
