Frozen image on desktop wallpaper Retina

On my MacBook Pro Retina there is something frozen on the desktop. I have a blue screen, as a wallpaper, and I can see the safari page, very very lightly, frozen in the middle of the screen (even though Safari is closed).
How can I get rid of it? It seems like burned.

Went to the Apple Store today. They are going to change my display.

Skype .dmg file stuck on desktop

Hi everyone,
I have read some advice on similar problems and tried lots but nothing works. I have installed Skype on my laptop and correctly made the dock alias from the applications window but I can't Eject the .dmg from my desktop. Please help it's really annoying me now!

Is my Skype account frozen somehow?

Hi there, I wasn't sure where to post my question but anyway it's been this way for about a week now. my account seems frozen in some way. I'm signed in, online but when I make a call to another skype account, there is no dialling tune (the blue thing just whirls around) and eventually fails or just rings out. The same contacts for the entire week look to be online which I know there not (no change in online&offline contacts). I uninstalled and reinstalled software on iPhone & PC but no joy. I sign in and the same contacts are'online' and I can't make any calls. Any ideas how to resolve this? Your help is really appreciated as Ive moved cities & skype is great for keeping in touch

Skype 6.x for Linux Desktop

Hi all,
Is there going to be released Skype 6.x version for the Linux OS? 4.x is far behind current Win and Mac releases.....

I personally would prefer the use of Alsa so I can select my mic on Input 2 which Pulse can't see
( I can only select my line or mic ports, not both through pulse )
but overall, skype 4 sucks, can't do group video/desktop for one, which everyone gets P'd with...
and I can't simply drag files or contacts and have them auto-transfer (have to Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V)
also, Skype 4 doesn't know what contact cards are, so anyone who posts a contact card in any of my chats sends me a contact request.
there's more garbage than that which I would LOOOOOOOVE updated.
I just await the day when Skype 4 is completely broken.

Skype credit transfer to Windows Desktop

Will my Skype credit still be available if I switch to Windows Desktop?

Shouldn't be such a big deal. I'm sure the call record already carries a unique identifier - hold the call and allow another device logged in on the SAME USER to have access to the held record. Transfer the call/receive IP details and Boom! Microsoft/Skype support wanna weigh in on this?

Cant sign in to Skype on win 8.1 desktop but win 8...

Hi, I'm having troubles signing in to skype on my desktop with win 8.1. The thing I dont understand is that if I try from the touch screen part of windows 8.1 it does load up ok although it is a version that I personally dont like to use (the touch screen version). What I dont understand is that yesterday skype was working under 8.1 on my desktop fine. I upgraded to win 8.1 about a week ago and havent been having problems with skype (on my desktop) until today. I havent changed anything that would affect it. So what is going on? I get the skype screen which says "Skype, signing in" and has a cool little animated circular thing that just keeps going round and round. I'm using skype 6.10.0.104.

Skype 6.1 for Windows Desktop with Outlook Integra...

Introducing Skype 6.1 for Windows, now with Outlook integration and a visual update to the toolbar. This is an exciting update because the time spent on email by many people is still significant. And if you're like many of us who work at Skype, we spend lots of time toggling between our email and Skype desktop clients. Now it's really convenient to send a Skype instant message, start a free Skype to Skype call, or make a call to any mobile or landline - all within Outlook.
NB: The Outlook integration does not work with the Outlook 2013 preview version. You need to either use Outlook 2010 or upgrade to the final Outlook 2013 once that is available.

Frozen item on desktop

Can anyone help?
I scanned a letter to the desktop of an iMac. It arrived but will not free the letter. There is a highlighted box around it and a blue box around the caption. The rest of the computer works fine and nothing has been lost. But the desk top will not respond to any action apparently so long as this item is still active.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I do not have to save the item.

Hello jgh6998,
It sounds like you have scan of an image that is preventing you from using the computer in general. I would try force quitting the application with this info:
OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit

Choose Quit by right-clicking or control-clicking on an app's icon in the Dock.
If your app does not close using the steps above, use any of these steps to force the app to quit:
Switch to another app, such as the Finder, then choose Force Quit from the Apple menu. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window, and click Force Quit.
Press Command-Option-Esc, then select the unresponsive app from the Force Quit window that appears, and click Force Quit.
Hold down the Control and Option keys on your keyboard, and click the icon of the unresponsive app in the Dock. Select Force Quit from the menu that appears.
Open Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder or the Spotlight menu. Select the unresponsive app in the Activity monitor window. Choose Quit Process from the View menu, or click the Force Quit button in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window.
If you cannot switch from the unresponsive app, press Command-Option-Shift-Esc for three seconds to force it to quit. This key combination tells OS X to force quit the frontmost app.

Frozen Image On Desktop

Can anyone help please? I have an image of a blue leaf that just appeared on my desktop. I've reinstalled 10.4.11 and completed all updates but the image is still there. Tried all reboot types explained in other discussions but the image is still there. I was not connected to the net when this happened. Still no luck with AV scans or disk repairs. Can anyone help? A picture download is frozen on my desktop

I downloaded a picture on my desktop and after I tried editing it, it just froze. So now i can't exit out or put in Trash. I tried "quiting" it but it won't let me do that either.

*Extremely* slow to open conversation with a large chat history. Win7, Skype 7.0.0.100 Desktop

I am running a fresh install of Skype version 7.0.0.100, directly downloaded from the Skype website and am experiencing frustrating issues opening a conversation with a large chat history.
Skype will just freeze and hang while I assume it is loading the history. Never noticed any issues before until I received the updated UI. This doesn't happen with contacts with little to no chat history. I am not sure if this only happens once per session but I do seem to recall previously it has happened again during the same session.
I have not yet received the update on my personal PC so can't yet comment on whether or not this happens on Windows 8.1. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating.

I had the same issue since upgrading to Skype 7. My main.db file is about 200MB. I had a chat with Skype support today. Looks like they were able to fix the issue by removing some config files. Here is what they did:Quit Skype completely (right-click on the icon in the bottom right corner and select Quit)Go to %AppData%\Skype folderDelete shared.xml fileOpen the folder that corresponds to your Skype nameIn that folder, delete config.xml fileStart SkypeFor me, these steps fixed the issue. It took some time for chats with large history to open for the first time, but they were opening quickly moving forward (unlike in the past, when they again were opening slowly after swtiching to them in 15 minutes or so).

New skype won't pin to desktop

Skype told me to update to the new (post july)skype,I have updated but when I press the pinned button,It's the old skpye so it wants me to update.So how do I update the button so it goes to the updated skype?I'm talking about the button where it lists all the apps you have,when you move your arrow to the upper right of your screen,then click the window looking thing. win 8.1

Installing the newest version of Adobe Reader and restarting Safari fixed this issue for me.

Skype icon stuck on desktop

I have tried all the tricks I know, but the alias seems only to work when the skype icon is on my desktop. If I eject it, then the alias (in my Apps folder) cannot find the app. and I have to d/l it again.
I am sure there is a trick... but I am at a loss.
Any suggestions out there?

Had this trouble with firefox as well, but got that one to work after a couple tries.
I have repaired my disk permissions.
Still, the Skype icon (not the dmg) does not seem to want to go into my applications folder. When I put it in the app folder, it just makes another alias nd remains on the desktop.
If I 'eject' the icon from my desktop, then the alias says it can no longer find the application.
Again, I am sure (I hope) there is an easy fix here...
