Skype keeps booting me off the internet, and my in...

This started happening a while ago, but skype keeps booting me off the internet. I login to skype, join my friends call, and then after 1 minute i get booted and my internet is off for about 5-10 minutes... Please help.. this is very annoying -_-

Have you rung up your ISP to check that they don't have a time limit on connections? I know that AOL in Australia will cut you off after 10 minutes if you exceed a montly quota of a certain amount of hours.

I do not have a fax machin, but get a fax message when I try to print something off the internet and can't get rid of the pop-up so how to fix?

I have been dealing with this problem about a week. I have turned the computer completely off at night, but it does not correct the situation . I cannot print anything off the internet as long as the fax message is on there. I do not have a fax machine and do not want one.

What is that fax message '''on'''? Hard to understand how that is a Firefox support issue as Firefox doesn't have any fax capabilities.
Perchance, do you have an all-in-one printer which can receive a fax message? Printer, scanner, and fax machine combined. 
If so, try looking at your user manual for that all-in-one to learn how to print that message. Or consult with a support forum for that brand all-in-one printer.

I have a Linksys Wireless network router, and it has been woring fine for years. As of a few days ago, out of the blue, I started getting knocked off the internet. The network connection stays constant, four bars, but the internet connection fails. Sometimes if I disable and re-enable the airport a few times, it will re-connect, sometimes I have to shut the lid and open it again, and sometimes I have to restart to get it to re-connect. It then stays connected from ten minutes to an hour, and the internet fails again. I have rebooted, cleared my 'favorite networks', and reset the PRAM, but to no avail. I know it is not the router, because my other laptop on the network never gets disconnected from the internet, just my mac. Help?

My Macbook Pro 13' from 2011 keeps kicking me off the internet, even though my internet service (complete with brand new router) shows strong bars. Any help?!

I've had this 13 Inch Macbook Pro complete with the Lion since October 2011. I've been having trouble with the internet connection. I keep getting 'unable to connect to the internet' or 'website unavaiable'. We have a brand new router, so we know for certain the router isn't going out. Both of my parents computers connect just fine without getting kicked out. I thought maybe it was the seat, so I switched chairs and rooms and positions, but that doesn't seem to help. I check my internet connection and always says 'connected' with full bars. I've tried different browswers, using Safari and Google Chrome. It's frustrating not being able to get online and get kicked off in the middle of whatever you're doing for a reason you can't figure out. Any help/suggestions? It's been going on for a month or so now.

After biting the bullet and ordering more RAM, my computer now is working a ton better. So that must have been the main issue. With 8 GB RAM, I can now even run Parallels fluidly (better than my work PC!) where before simple things like logging in to my MBP after reboot could take forever.
The place I went to had several other people getting RAM upgrades at the same time as me, so between this and other comments I've seen in discussions here and elsewhere on the Internets, I take it to mean that either Apple should bump up the base RAM on its new machines, and/or stop charging so much for additional RAM.
I refused to believe a Pro machine bought with Lion installed would come with too little RAM for light to medium usage, but it was apparently the case. I'll mark this as a correct answer and hope some other poor soul will come across this thread and be helped by it.

Brand new nMP Mac Pro 6,1 Late 2013.... and it is defective - the older silver tower might be easier to find parts but at least it is not 65 lbs and is something that can be taken in - which I think you really need to do.
When you run etrecheck from www.etresoft.com it can show what is installed, drivers and might help point to something on software side.
Grant is the go-to person here I think among others for networking issues.
Airport Express and signal strength, channel it is trying to use, whether the Network control panel settings are "correct" or need to be changed (even the order, what it is trying to look for and use).
If you move it to another spot or put another computer over in that general vicinity...? behaves the same.
I recall reading where the MacBook Pro model in 2012? and switched to a new chipset and some very long (huge) threads in their forum - which means also there was no real solution given.

Keeping my Macbook off the "g" and on the "n"

I have a dual-band network with an Airport Extreme (the a/b/g model) connected via ethernet to my Time Capsule.
As according to Apple's manual, "Designing Airport Networks", I gave the exact same name to both routers, set the old extreme to g-only at 2.4Ghz, and the Time Capsule to n-only at 5Ghz.
Problem is, my Macbook Pro can't distinguish between the two, as they have the same name, and keeps jumping to the g signal instead of the n signal.
I need the g for my iPhone. So how do I keep my Macbook Pro on the n and off the g?

In a "dual-band" network configuration, the following must be true:
o Each wireless network must have a different Network Name or SSID.
o The two routers must be connected by Ethernet.
o The downstream router (the one not connected directly to the Internet), must be reconfigured as a bridge.
Are these all correct for your "dual-band" setup?

13" MacBook Pro Keeps getting kicked off the Internet

My 2009 13" Macbook Pro keeps disconnecting from the internet somehow. It happens every once in a while when I'm browsing through the internet.
Whenever I try clicking to another page, all of a sudden Safari says it cannot connect to the server. At first I was begining to think that the issue was with Safari but I then found out it was also happening with Firefox. The only way that I could connect to the internet again is if I literally close my Macbook and wait a few moments before opening it again. For some reason my laptop is the only one in this house having the issue, my sister's 2011 13" Macbook Pro works just fine and doesn't have this issue. So I know it can't be a problem with the router. Does anyone here have suggestions???

Check that your time and date are current in System Preference and being updated for your location.

How do I save a picture off the internet and where is it stored?

I wish to save photos people post on the internet or in Facebook but I don't know how to. I am new to Mac computers. Could someone please tell me how to do this and when they are saved, where can I find them? I don't see anything new in iPhoto or iCloud. Thank you to anyone who can help me with this.

To move the images to iPhoto, open iPhoto and under File click New Album if that is where you want the images to reside, then drag and drop the images to that new album.
You don't say what Mac you are using, so three approaches to right click:
1. Open System Preferences, then Trackpad if you are using a MacBook Pro or Air and do not have a mouse, then under Point and Click check Secondary Click. That is the right click function:
2. Open System Preferences then Mouse if you are using an iMac or other desktop or have a mouse with a laptop, and under Point & Click check Secondary Click:
3. You can also gain the right click function by doing Control-click on either a mouse or trackpad if you do not want to turn on Secondary Click.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

When i get off the internet and i think i am closing firefox and then try to open it up again it tells me firefox is still running and i need to turn it off or restart my computer before opening firefox again. what can i do to fix this

Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.

Keeping a computer off the internet

I am going to be in a familiar location where my computer normally recognizes the wireless internet signal and automatically connects, but for a certain occasion, I do not want it to connect. Is there an easy way that I can prevent it from connecting at any recognizable location (for example, toggle switch, to disable internet connectivity temporarily)?
