  • Lag spikes during League of Legends

I just got this laptop within the past two weeks. I was looking for a computer that could handle gaming and graphics but could do everything else with a reasonable price tag. I came up on this computer and got it customized and shipped to me. I play games like League of Legends that require a lot of virtual memory and RAM in order to run smoothly. With that being said, I downloaded League of Legends after getting the laptop and started playing a game. After about 10 minutes I started lagging horribly. My FPS dropped down to 4-5. So I did the normal thing everyone recommends. Close down all background apps, make the computer where it conforms to better performance, restarted internet, and restarted computer. After doing all the steps above I once again was playing a game just fine until about 10 minutes into the game my FPS dropped down yet again. This is a repeating error that happens about every other few minutes. I googled if anyone else had this problem and apparently I'm not the only HP user who has this issue. With that being said does anyone know how I could fix these random lag spikes and play a peaceful game of League?
    Yes It's Lulu

    Hi,
Please check Memory from Task Manager to see available RAM after 10 mins. Please bear in mind, even you have a lot of RAM available but system can only allocae/assign up to the max number. Laptops for games are not cheap, you need to spend at least $2,500 for a laptop to be able to play high end games.
    Regards.

Does anything seen here determine what could cause these occasional lag spikes?

  • Lag/freeze while playing 'League of Legends' (onli...

    Hello,
I am having problems playing an online game and am hoping somebody may be able to help.
Basically there appears to be a widespread problem that causes BT users to experience extremely odd lag while playing League of Legends.
Ping/internet speed is completely normal and all other online activities are unaffected, but during gameplay myself and many others are experiencing strange lag every few seconds.
Because internet speed/ping is otherwise fine and this doesn't happen every game, it leads me to believe that the root cause is the connection between BT and certain League of Legends game servers.
Further information can be found here:
    http://forums.euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2070081
Multiple BT users are all experiencing the same problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I too am experiencing this problem. Severe packet loss to a large number of League of Legends game servers. Only BT Customers seem to be effected by this.
It doesn't occur in every game, but this is because the server that players are assigned to play on is random, and while a large number of these game servers are affected, it's not all of them. I'm guessing there's some bad routing to a datacentre or even a country in Europe where these particular servers are located.
I'm aware that this isn't very helpful as I'm unable to identify the IP addresses of the affected servers, but could someone technical from BT please get in contact with Riot Games to try to resolve this issue? Riot are very much aware of it, but I'm not sure they have been able to get in contact with the right people.
This is not just a few people who are affected, but several thousand who share this hobbie. I feel that the only option for these people (including myself) will be to change our broadband provider. Obviously BT accell in a number of areas, but unles Riot games and BT can resolve this, I can foresee a large number of Customers switching to a broadband provider who's unaffected.

  • Skype lags for my friends and also make me lag on ...

    Hello
recently skype has been lagging for my friiends when i speak, this only happens when i play games(online or ofline makees no diffrence). I have tried all fixes(skype_old, mic/audio settings,uninstall/reinstall....) I honistly have no idea what to do now apart from not speak and just type when playing games. The problem can not be my internet because we have just upgraded our package and we get over 100 download speed and 6 upload speed. I can't stress enough how annoying this is.
If anyone knows a fix could you please tell me.
    Thanks!

  • MSI GX70 league of legends ping lag

Hello, ever since i got my MSI GX70 around 6 months ago my ping in league of legends has always been higher than my other computers in my house no matter what (spikes from 50-2k every now and then). i was just wondering if there is any problem with this laptop and the wireless connection or if its my driver. from what i looked at i had this thing called Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and the driver isnt updated is that the problem? I couldnt find if it was the problem because i couldnt find the updated driver for this. Thank you :D

Sorry for the late reply but I'm pretty sure it's not the servers because whenever my brother plays league of legends he doesn't lag. We both player at the same time and when I'm lagging hes not.

  • [Solved] League of Legends Ping Spike Gt70 2PC Dominator. Please Help!! thanks 3

    Hey guys,
I just bought this new laptop 3 days ago, and I am a major League of Legends player.   It's official that some program or hardware MSI comes with does not work well with wifi.
Current Network Adapter: Killer Wireless-N 12012 Network Adapter
Home wifi according to Speedtest.net:  Ping- 23ms  Download- 14.40 Mbps  Upload-1.02Mbps
During gameplay, System Idle process stays around 70-80, nbd
My college i5 lenevo nongaming 3 year old laptop (that my college sells) runs on my wifi with yes occasional pings, and some lag, but never like the ones MSI provides.    I cannot even play, once I get near my lane (against other opponent), I get ping spikes from 150-400) that lasts a few seconds, every 10 seconds.    It occurs more frequently the more I move around or go to where there is more action.
    1) Please do not ask about my wifi.  The fact that my i5 can run smoothly and this 1.5k+ gaming laptop does not, on same wifi, same game, means wifi is not the problem, (I'm not complaining about lag from my incompetent wifi .  I'm complaining about the every 7 second pingspikes that last 1-3 seconds, that makes me unable to play the game, which the lenevo doesn't have.)
2)I've google searched almost every existing similar problem, and each forum thread has not been answered completely.  Some people seem to have problems with Dota, too
3)From what I've read so far, there is possibility of the uninstalling the GE Force Experience or Killer Network manager, but people just seem to suggest it, and not actually confirm that that will fix the problem.   If it is confirmed, please say so and say how to disable them.
I only have 4 days before I head back to college, and I would wish to fix this problem before I head back.  I tried running netstat options on cmd, and there didn't seem to be a problem.  I was wondering if it is some application that eats up the wifi cause ping on the game.
I really like this laptop, the fact that it shuts down and starts up really fast, and it can run up to 150+ frames per second, which is amazing, but I would really like to have some definite answer to this problem, because I know I am not the only one.   Thank you!!!

Try to play another game and ping your router to see if there is any ping peak which might cause the issue.
About LOL, if you don’t experience such spikes while ping the router or paly other game, then I think you should find Riot for some help.
There are many users talking about the ping issue.

  • How to get League of Legends working in Arch!

I didn't like the old wiki guide which required a chroot to run the game from wine, so I rewrote it: wiki guide. An alternative method (mentioned in the guide) is patching Wine instead of the textures of the game, but I hear that can break compatibility with some other games/programs, so I did not want to do that. This guide is how I got it working.
I did not get the installer itself working, for me it hangs when the installation process should start, if you encounter this problem your best bet is to find a windows machine, install the game on it and then copy it over with a USB flash drive or external HDD (14GB game folder, you can take it in more than one trip) or alternatively you can set up a temporary virtual machine and install from there with virtualbox.
Dependencies (if you're on a 32-bit system, remove the lib32 part of all the dependencies, i.e. lib32-lcms2 becomes lcms2):
    lib32-alsa-lib lib32-libldap lib32-lcms2 lib32-gnutls wine winetricks
    Winetricks Dependencies:
d3dx9 dxdiag vcrun2005 wininet corefonts adobeair
    1. First you need to create a new 32-bit wine prefix (if you're on a 32-bit installation already and only have a 32-bit version of Wine, you do not need to do this, just use your existing prefix and for the rest of this guide do not type WINEARCH or WINEPREFIX parts of commands, and replace .wine32 with .wine)
    WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/USER/.wine32 winecfg
    2. next, you need to install the winetricks dependencies
    WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/USER/.wine32 winetricks d3dx9 dxdiag vcrun2005 wininet corefonts adobeair
    3. If/when you run into problems with installing adobe air, it is most likely a problem with the dnsapi library. Run winecfg, go to the Libraries tab and find the Existing Override for dnsapi (or if it does not exist, add it) and hit the Edit button to set it to "Native then Builtin".4
    4. Place the LoL folder in the Wine directory
    ln -s /mnt/HardDrive3/Riot\ Games $HOME/.wine32/drive_c/
    (or)
    mv $HOME/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends $HOME/.wine32/drive_c/
This guide now assumes you've got your folder set up like one of the above above. The ln -s (symlink) command assumes that you have the game installed on another hard drive and want to keep it there, the mv command (move) moves the folder into Wine.
    5. Make it compatible!
    First do
    $cat /etc/hostname
This will show you the name of your computer, next open /etc/hosts with an editor of your choice, and replace all instances of localhost with your computer's name (make sure to be case sensitive)
Last but not least, you need to patch the textures of the shop icons in the game or the game will crash when you try to buy items, which will be very embarrassing.
Download this patch and extract it wherever you like, the patch is built for python2 but works with python 3 I hear, I will assume you have python 2 installed, so open a terminal in the directory where you extracted the patch to, and run the following.
    $ln -s .wine32/drive_c/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends Game_Folder
Then edit config.py with an editor of your choice and set
    lol_path = './Game_Folder'
    Then execute the patch with
    python2 lol_linux.py
If all went well, you will see an output explaning what the patch is doing (unpacking a bunch of dds files from an archive, patching out the mipmaps in them, archiving them again, and then it will be done, this takes a few)
And now your LoL client should be working just fine!
    6. Try launching the game
    $cd cd /home/xandis/.wine32/drive_c/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends/RADS/system/
    $WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/USER/.wine32 wine rads_user_kernel.exe run lol_launcher $(ls ../projects/lol_launcher/releases/) LoLLauncher.exe
If all goes well you will see the launcher, if there is a patch then wait for it to finish and press play.
    7.Test it!
Be aware of the issues (at the bottom of the post) and now test all the menus as much as you would like (store page, summoner profile, masteries, team builder, whatever, chances are it will all work if you managed to get far in enough to see the launcher)
Next you need to make sure the game loads and runs fine, press Play, go to "Custom" and create a game in summoner's rift, add one bot, start, pick a champion and launch the game. Right now your game should be working! If not, boggle your mind over the terminal output you get from wine, try to find out what error it's giving you and then google it (or if you can't find anything, post here)
    8.Finalize!
Last step is to make the game easily accessible, I do this by creating an alias in .bashrc but you can create a "league_of_legends" bash script in /bin if you would like, or a .desktop file somewhere in /usr/share/applications.
But here is what I do in bashrc
    alias wine32='env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX="/home/USER/.wine32" wine'
    alias League_of_Legends='cd /home/USER/.wine32/drive_c/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends/RADS/system/ && wine32 rads_user_kernel.exe run lol_launcher $(ls ../projects/lol_launcher/releases/) LoLLauncher.exe'
That way I have the wine32 command to execute files with the 32-bit wine prefix (since I have more applications that work better with a 32-bit prefix, I didn't want to dedicate a Wine installation to LoL alone by patching it to work with mipmaps either)
And this way I just type League_of_Legends in the terminal to execute the game.
    Issues:
    1. Icons for runes in the launcher store do not appear
    2. Most button textures in the launcher store are missing (but the buttons do work)
    3. Right clicking friends in the friend list (to invite to a game) does not work (this issue can be circumvented by using the invite button in the lobby)
    4. Lesser performance than running the game on windows
    5. A small, mysterious "Riot" icon will appear somewhere around the edges of the minimap
    6. In a 64-bit Wine prefix the Patcher will be black (but pressing buttons will work) and launching a match will end up in a black screen.
    7. The installer hangs when it should start the installation

I just got the idea that you might be using a different setup since you had your wineprefix on /mnt/raid/lol/ instead of $HOME/.wine32/ (which would make more sense if you run into other games that require a 32 bit prefix, that way you can just have 1 64 bit and 1 32 bit prefix ready for whenever you need them instead of setting up a specific prefix just for LoL or just for some other application)
Do tell if you manage to fix your game, I'm hoping since you haven't said anything more than you will test it yet that you're already too busy playing to comment
Okay, so short answer is, no dice. I moved the env line down along with the wine execution. My bash script looks like:
    pushd "/mnt/raid/lol/drive_c/Riot Games/League of Legends/RADS/system/"
    env WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/mnt/raid/lol wine rads_user_kernel.exe run lol_launcher $(ls ../projects/lol_launcher/releases/) LoLLauncher.exe
    popd
I noticed this error in the console before the tutorial crashed:
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x110060 "../../../wine/dlls/ntdll/heap.c: main process heap section" wait timed out in thread 004b, blocked by 004f, retrying (60 sec)
I saw this the first few times I tried playing.

When I set up wine, i just wanted segregation and flexibility for different prefixes. My main prefix is actually still on the raid, rather than home. I have similar setups for Diablo 3 and Dead Space 3 (both on the same prefix). Following your guide, I knew I needed a separate one for LoL.
I WISH i was busy playing. But no, I was at work when I replied

  • Skype makes computer stutter every few seconds

Sometimes this happens right away and other times it takes a few minutes but when I'm on a video call and only on a video call skype makes my computer start skipping or stuttering every few seconds. If I get my girlfriend to wave her hand on skype u can see the video pause for a split second every few seconds which also happens to anything I'm doing on the computer anywhere.
I've installed and uninstalled skype but nothing helps.
I have the brand new 2015 Macbook pro with broadwell processor. I've also used skype on the 2014 Macbook pro retina and it does the exact same thing. I never could get it to work right. My girlfriend has an old poopy 2012 macbook pro with no retina and she doesn't seem to have the issue. She has Yosemeti installed just like I do.
My processor runs about 40% usage in activity monitor. As you know 40% is only for one of the cores I assume since it can go way above 100% when check the activity monitor for whatever reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Don't want to get rid of a mac b/c of this one issue.

I'm having the same problem, and I don't understand what started causing it. I assume it's the last two releases of Skype that I've upgraded to, because I don't remember this occurring on such annoyingly frequent level. I am running Windows 7 home premium x64, 4GB memory, Intel celeron 1.60 GHz.
It's very disappointing to see how with every new version of it, instead of fixing things and making the overall performance better, it seems to become worse. After Skype 6.9, every version has started increasing the resources used, and now thanks to skype, my laptop starts to freeze when I'm in a video call and try to watch a youtube video, or open a website. The CPU jumps to 100%, then drops a little, but it keeps a steady 50-70 % during the call, which is HUGE. And before someone suggests I buy a laptop with a more powerful processor, I'll say that just a few months ago it was working perfectly well, so the solution shouldn't be taxing to MY budget, surely!
I wish there was a chance to downgrade to a previous version, but no, you took that option away too, God forbid someone misses the ad-saturated versions, full of lagging and stuttering, constant freezing of the camera and constant "connecting" message, saying the internet connection is slow, or there is a problem with it, when in fact the Internet connection is perfectly fine and fast. What gives???

  • League of Legends on playonlinux : Login server not responding

    Hello,
I installed League of Legends with playonlinux sometime ago and it worked well-ish.
But since the last update it gets no response from the login server. Installing lib32-gnutls like advised on the wiki and disbaling peer to peer did not make it any better.
I can't find logs about that error so I have no idea where to look.
Before I try installing LoL with system wine, have anyone met this problem? Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
The update of the client happened just after a system update, I don't know if that might be a reason for that problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
My /etc/hosts is just right, it has my hostname as it should ^^
Updating lib32-gnutls did not fix the problem.
I ended up reinstalling with system wine (which includes installining wininet through winetrick in its process, so it may be what fixed my problem) and it works verry well now.
    Thanks for you answers!

  • Hi. An application me and my friends are having some problems starting is called League of Legends and we want to know more why we cant start the app.

Hi. An application me and my friends are having some problems starting is called League of Legends and we want to know more why we cant start the app.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • How To Save Battery When Playing League of Legends?

Is there any way I can save my battery without having to charge it constant whilst playing League of Legends?
I had done this in the past, an it resulted in screwing my MacBook Pro battery :'(
    Any advice would be awesome.
    Thanks,
    Carol-Anne

When gaming you SHOULD have it plugged in when you can.
Your lithium batteries dont like fast discharges over the long term, which is exactly what gaming does.
because “Li-ion degrades fastest at high state-of-charge”.
