Skype messages making notification sound on outloo...

Its kind of annoying, 2 or 3 seconds after I get a message on skype i get a notifiacation on outook.com for the same message and it also makes a sound. It just started doing this 2 days ago and I can't find how to disable this on outlook.com.
So, how can I disable this so Im not getting notifications from 2 places at the same time ? Besides closing my outlook.com (hotmail) all the time. Im at work so Id like to keep the extra noises to a minunum, not add more.

IPad making notification sound even though I disabled them all, where is it coming from?

Okay so since updating to iOS7, there is something triggering random notifications on my iPad. It's making a two note notification sound. There's no banner or badge or anything that is associated with it. I went into notification center and have literally turned off every single sound notification (but leaving the sound switch on). The iPad still makes the notification sound.
I was thinking it was coming from the OS itself, but I went and browsed the sounds under Settings->Sounds and couldn't find the one that I'm hearing (although I suppose that doesn't rule anything out).
Any ideas on where it could be coming from?

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini, but I only had the problem on the iPad Mini. My problem was a little different than yours, but this fix may work for you.

I saw a post from an apple rep telling a iOS 6 user to turn the side switch on to un-mute the sounds. A no-brainier yes, but it made me wonder if the side switch may have been temporarily "confused" after updating to iOS 7 because it added the new settings screen that swipes up from the bottom of the screen. I was using my side-switch to lock the screen rotation and it was in the "off" (down) position (red visible) and none of my notifications were sounding. So I flipped it up and down a couple times which didn't solve the problem. So logically, I proceeded to what inevitably solved the problem...
Go to Settings > General / "Use Side Switch To" and select the opposite of what you are currently using. I had mine on Lock Rotation, so I selected Mute. Then flip your switch up and down slowly a couple of times to see that the confirmation on the screen is correct. You may have to go back to settings again and select the other choice if you originally had Mute selected, I don't know because I originally had Lock Rotation in use.
Hopefully, this will fix your notification sounds (and the lock sound when you press the power button). After using this fix, you can set the use of the side switch to your preference and still have all of your notification sounds!

[SOLVED] Skype notification sound breaks sound in totem

The problem is as follows:
When skype plays his notification sound, sound volume in totem is going down to zero. When skype notification sound is finished, totem volume is back. I can distinctly see this process in the last tab of gnome sound settings.

I have no extra configurations for any of this packages. All packages are up to date.
The problem is only between skype and totem. Skype doesnt conflict with gmusicbrowser, flash players.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have actually the same problem, but apparently pulseaudio has changed since the last solution above because my file /etc/pulse/default.pa is not the same.
There is no longer module-cork-music-on-phone module, and load-module module-role-cork is already commented out.
Does someone have the same issue? Is there another solution?

Skype Message Notification Sound

I have just upgraded to a Nokia 6220 Classic, which is compatable with Skype, all works fine except when messages are received (on Skype) there is no notification sound, how do I activate this - any ideas ?

Skype message notification

Hi There,
Just want to discuss about skype message notification alert. I was getting this message notification when I get any messages and it will stay on task bar unless I read the message. But now I am getting the notification but it disappers from the task bar and due to that I am unable to view new messages so I have to open skype each time to check for new messages. I had installed few updates and current version showing is 7.4.0.102.
May I know whats the issue? I cant see any relevant settings regarding the same on skype. Can anyone help on this ?

My notifications arent making a sound or alerting me

my notifications arent making a sound when i get a text or a snap chat or any other of my apps the only way i get to see them is if i physically go into my apps or my messages and its annoying me please help me.

We want to figure out what's going on with these alerts and ensure they're working. Can you verify if the alert set is the same audio for both? Have you tested setting a different tone? Cannot disable message notification sound

This is a little weirder than it sounds. I have unchecked the incomming message sounds. Its always worked just fine. But as of today when one of my contacts messages me I get the incomming sound notification. Its unchecked. I even tried disabling sounds in skype. It still kept doing it. Whats stranger is this is the only contact that makes the sound notification. All the others are still silent. I tried enabling the incomming sound with a custom sound file that was just silent. Even this didnt work. I have updated skype to the latest version and I'm running win7. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have the same problem, double notifications sounds because skype is running on desktop and in browser. I am sorry but why is this unlinking of accounts in every thread a accepted solution. This not a solution. I am fed up with the answer of unlinking your microsoft account from your skype account as a solution. I was forced into linking my accounts to keep my msn-messenger contacts , so UNLINKING IS NOT A SOLUTION for many people, why on earth do i want 2 accounts for the same company their services. The other solution of signing out/going invisible is also not a solution. Since if you make yourself invisble , you turn invisble everywhere. If you sign out , well you sign out of your mail client. See ,I could live with the enteir integration of skype in outlook but come on guys. This is going on like 3 years now and still you are clueless that a browser is fine for outlook but for IM it just lacks fine tuning. The new skype integration looks at least a lot better but :a) again no settings for the skype part in outlook, at least a mute button would be nice. - During a phone call, if I put the conversation on speakers ==> it works and the volume bar reappears. I can control the volume with + and - buttons. But when the conversation is over, the bar disappears again.
- With the headphones, everything is ok!
- I also noticed (only a few times) that when I do a silent to ringer mode, the volume slider reappears and works correctly during 2 or 3 seconds, before disappearing again.
I don't know what is problem,because the speakers work.

How can I disable the notification sound for remaining credit messages

My operator sends me a message after every call and text which tells me what remains of my monthly allowances. This is very useful and I don't want to turn it off. I've just got myself a Z10 and the only thing that annoys me about it is that I have not yet found out how to disable the notification sound for this type of message. The device is stock with the latest firmware and no apps.
I can change the notification for normal text messages in the settings, but there is no obvious entry to change for these messages. Does anyone know how to do it?

If the message comes in the (bell) notifications it can only be switched OFF globally.
If it is a text message, you can create a contact with the number, then Setting - Notifications - Contacts - Customise - Phone Calls, Email Messages, Text Messages, Other Messaging

Push notifications are not making any sounds. (iPhone 4)

Hello, I am having an issue with sounds from my push-notifications. I have all phone sounds enabled, the volume turned up, and all the sound options for the desired applications set to allow push-notifications, AND to make noise.
All of my other phone sounds work, calls, SMS, vibrate, alarms, everything else EXCEPT push-notification sounds. I can go in to my AIM settings and even hear the desired sound play in the settings menu, however when I get an AIM message, no sound.
What gives? All my firmware is up to date.

Google Voice txting not making a notification sound while talking on the phone

Does anyone else have the problem when you recieve a new txt message on google voice, you don't get any kind of notification sound while talking on the phone? The only way I ever get notified is if I turn the screen back on and see the google voice widget new txt message. I have tried different things to no avail. On my old nonsmart phone, I had regular txting and it always notified me with a beep every few minutes until I checked the txt message. Is there a way to do that at all with the charge and google voice? Thanks.

It's on 4G LTE I am getting all of the txt messages, except I am not recieving any sound notification when I am on a call. Do any of the verizon employees or techs have any suggestions? Everything is all set up correctly, and it notifies me with a sound just fine as long as I am not on a call.

Skype Messages Out Of Order.

This has for some reason only started within the past few hours, and i have never experienced this issue in the past, for some reason while sending messages they are out of order and look something like this:

Them message #10
Me: Message #1
Them: Message #6 appears here.
Them: Message #2
Them: Message #4 appears here.
Me: Message #3
Me: Message #5
Me: Message #7
Me: Message #9
Makes it impossible to have a conversation as i have to scan over dozens of messages to try to find a new one that has all of a sudden appeared, i have tried searching for solutions and the only one i found was "Sync time and date" i have updated my time and date to make sure but they were never out of sync to begin with.

Can't hear chat notification sounds

I'm having a related issue. I just upgraded and it didn't resolve it. When I log in, I'm getting the log-in sound, but I'm not longer getting chat notification sounds at all. I went through the preferences and made sure there were all correct.
Even in the Prefererences drop down, when I hit Details and select "Sign-In" and change the sound, it plays a test sound. But when I "New Messages Received In Current Conversation" and select a new sound, nothing is played.
Please help!

I am having the same problem. I also use MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, running on OS X 10.9.5. (latest)
I am running the latest update I have available to me on skype as well: 6.19.
And no, my notifications are not set at Do Not Disturb. Everything in this section is left unchecked.
All my sound preferences in System Preferences are where they should be. Selected Sound Output Device, Alert Volume all the way up, everything checked.
In the notification center, it is also checked off to play sound notifications for Skype.
In terms of Skype, all that is supposed to be checked off is. In Notifiation overview: Play sounds related to calls, play sounds related to messages are on while stop notifications why recording or sharing screens is NOT checked (just in case).
In Details, First Message of Conversation & New Message in Recent Conversation: Play sound, bounce icon & display visual notification is on.
Also, New Message in Current Conversation has play sound & bounce icon on.
For a while now, I hear the ring tone when someone is calling, but no sound in any type of message, first message, new message in recent convo, etc. Nothing. Not when I'm full screen with the video, not one when I'm toggled onto Skype, and not when skype is in the background.
Please help! It is driving me nuts! I'm pretty sure its a glitch, but I am hoping it can be fixed!
Also, on a side note, someone mentioned this is the thread, and it is very true: people who are off line appear to be online ALL the time. It does not log them off like it should, and when you call it just never connects.

Skype makes speakers make sound while headphones on

hello! this is my first post on the forums
so i installed skype today on my brand new Hp DV7 pavillion-6197CA, (Windows 7 Home Premium) and when i get a call, or any message notification from it for that matter, all sounds go through the laptop's speakers, even though im using my headphones 24/7, i fiddled with all the skype audio settings as much as i could but nothing the only solution i found was the disable the second speaker in my laptop so that skype couldonly use the main one, is there any other way to fix this? its been ruining all my skype conversations and its very annoying to have my laptop randomly make all sounds from my computer go to the speakers when skype has a notification for me >.<
i havent changed any audio setting in windows at all, i tried doing everything from skype, i even changed the default communications speaker in windows to the main laptop speaker but it skype still founda way to use the other, even though skype was also forced to use the default speaker >.< updating drivers through the hp support assistant did nothing either sadly.

i had these same issues with my Dell Studio XPS 1645 in 2009/2010. haha. pretty much the issue is that the IDT audio drivers are **bleep**ing insane buggy. I don't think there is a way to fix it. the problem comes down to probably disabling the "Communication" Device Output device, or Setting the Default Communication Device to the primary headphone/speaker device. Many HPs have two output devices, one for the headphones/speakers, and a second for the headset.
What is going on in Windows I think, is if nothing is connected via the headset port on your computer, the sound will get channeled through to the speakers. the main Windows sound that you are listening to will continue to channel through to the headphones because that is where the main sound was set up to get channeled through to. If it so so happens that you have a headset and headphones connected, i bet when SKype calls through, it will send it to the headset instead of your speakers.
Here's is how to fix it: try setting Skype's default output device to the headphone/speaker out, instead of the communication device. if this doesn't work. then. you just have to set the Default Communication device to be the speakers/headphones, and/or disable the headset output device. the whole thing is buggy, especially the code that deals with routing sound to headphones or internal speakers. they try to handle it all automatically, without providing any controls to manage it manually. I wish they redesigned the driver so that speakers and headphones and headset were all separate devices, so that you could choose where to send it yourself. like a button that says, "headphones" or "speakers" for each sound device. even if headphones were plugged in, you could still turn them off, or route sound to speakers manually. the automation of this feature is bugged..
