Skype name login

I have forgotten my password for my Skype Name account. When I try to recover it I am only given an option to reset the passwords on my hotmail accounts not my skype named account. I don't want to change those passwords, just the one associated with my Skype Name.
The email address associated with the account is a work address and is no longer accessible. The mobile number associated with the account is no longer active, so I have no way of receiving any codes.
When I tried to update the info it won't save without entering the password - an infinite loop!
Now that my auto log in no longer works I can't even access the Skype name accout. It has money in the profile that I want to use for landline calls, but I can't get past the security.
Any ideas?

Guys this is absolute rubbish feature of the login application where people's login names get recorded in the dropdown menu. Is there any more permanent way of getting rid of this annoying privacy intrusive "feature"? I would like to have a profile with a username that is not going to appear at airports and my grandma's laptop after I log out of skype and no I do not want to go digging for app files to remove my entire history on each and every machine I use as suggested by your help files. Could you please advise if I'm missing something here?

"Your skype name and password were not recignized"

Hi,
Can someone please help me? I'm trying to login using my usual login name but it says "Your skype name and password were not recignized". I used it few of days ago and it was fine until last Sunday (04-Dec). I've already contacted support team 2 days ago but they don't seem to care too much!
Can someone explain me what is going on?

Getting "Oops! Your Skype Name isn't an email addr...

I'm using the latest version of Skype for Desktop, and getting the following error message when trying to login.
Oops! Your Skype Name isn’t an email address.. Try again or choose another way to sign in.
I've successfully logged in with the same information to the skype website.
Now I'm stumped - can anyone help me please ?

My smart TV do not accept ":" in Skype name! I am very disappointed because now skype name contains a prefix "live:", now I can not use Skype on my Grundig smart TV.

live:xxxxx is a generic name that is automatically created when you create Skype account using Microsoft account option. However, this Skype name cannot be used as login ID. You login ID is the email address which you have used to create Microsoft Skype account. Unfortunately, you can't login to Skype on TV using Microsoft account.

Different skype names appearing when you sign in

When I sign into skype, a list of used names appears in the 'skype name' drop-down menu. Is it possible to clear this list? I don't want all the names to be visible when signing in. Grateful if anyone can advise, thanks.

I have two Skype names. I can currently login using the second one, but not the first because I have forgotten the password (I'm not proud of it, but there it is.)
I would prefer to use the first, but cannot - when the Forgot PW process sends the token to reset, if ALWAYS refers to the second S. name.
How can I use the first S. name (and abandon the second)?

Try changing the second accounts'(the one you CAN access) E-mail.
That will make the first account the only one using your E-mail, and you'll be able to recover your password.

Windows Desktop Skype ID Login Error

Hi All,
My skype id says "Sorry, we didn't recognize your sign-in details. Please check your Skype Name and password, then try again" but the same username and password I can login in browser, even with the same username and password I logged and posting this message ..
I am using following versions please check
1. Skype Version 7.0.0.102
2. Window 7 OS
3. 64-bit Operating System
4. IE Version 11.0.9600.17501

Cannot Sign In With Skype Name- Need To Link Microsoft Account

My skype name apparently contains an underscore. I cannot sign into Skype using my Skype name, and this is probably why.
The ONLY way I can sign is to click "Login with Facebook" on the desktop app. But when I sign in this way, it does NOT give me the option to link my Microsoft account (I've gone to "home" view and clicked the gear at top right, only says "manage hidden updates" and nothing else.
I cannot sign into Skype from anything except a desktop because "Login with Facebook" is only available there. So how can I fix this?
All I want to do is be able to sign in by typing my skype name and password- which skype will not let me do.

My parents are having the same problem. I got them a MobileMe account, but when they try to log into iTunes, it says their Apple ID doesn't exist. When they try to create a new account, it says for them to cancel and log in using their MobileMe account. Loop anyone?

Skype name, how to create if account created using...

Is there a way t create a Sype name i can use to log on with if I created my Skpe account with a Microsoft Account. I need this as having trouble withSkype displaying Microsoft account login screen.

The problem is that the Skype sign in sreen starts as normal but when I click on Skype Name and try to log in with my Skype Name it does not work because I signed up with my Microsoft account. So I used to click on Microsoft account at the Skype Sign in page and that used to work fine and still does on other computers but on the computer at home because it says "This page containss errors. Go back." I think its a problem with Flashplayer. I have Flashplayer but it won't update, but it palys flash movies and stuff. I tried to install Flashplayer again but it says ?unable to load metafile". I can't find how to fix that problem. The Adobe help stuff says I need to check that Shockwave Flash Player add ons are enabled in my Internet Explorer and Fire Fox but they arn't in my lists of add ons. I want to keep my Skype account because it works on other computers. Thanks.

Change Skype Name

I just setup a skype account and it asked me to setup with a Microsoft account. So I created one with my email ([Removed for privacy]) and I was assigned a random skype name ([Removed for privacy]).
I'd like to change it to my name. How do I do that?

You can't. When creating Skype account using the Microsoft account option you get automatically assigned a Skype name live:emailname (in your case live:contact) and this can't be changed. If you want to create another Skype account with a Skype name of your own choice, then you can do this using this signup form:

Skype Account contact list and skype name changed

Hi!
I have been actively using my skype account again lately and one time last week when I signed in, I just cannot. My username and password are correct. And so what I did was to reset my password. I was able to reset my password through my email and when I signed in to Skype, I found out that my skype account was "hacked", I think. My skype name, profile photo and contact list changed into somebody else's account.
I just want to ask what has happened to my account? Why did that happened? The username and contact list that appears to my account, I think, was leggit and not an act of hacking. Could it be possibly that our accounts switched?

Your report reads to me like your account was compromised (hacked). If you still have control of it, sign on to the account dashboard and change your account's registered e-mail address to something else, and then change the password.
Also, as a proactive measure, ensure your computer's software and patches are updated, and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the most recent virus signature files available.

Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents.
