Skype never rings on Android phone

I tend to keep Skype signed in on my computer and phone. The problem is that incoming calls only ever ring on my computer. Even when the computer is off and my phone is the only device signed in, Skype never rings on the phone. It just gives me a notification afterwards about a missed call.
I've seen a lot of similar posts, but haven't come across one with a solution. Is there a way to force Skype to ring on my phone, or better yet on all devices simultaneously? Or is this unfixable?
I'm paying for an incoming Skype number, and it's pretty much useless if it won't ring. I plan to cancel soon if there's no solution.
The phone is a Huawei Y300 using Skype version 4.5.0.39600.

Hi CSPQ,
I had a problem similar to yours with Skype 4.5. Reverting to this more reliable older Skype 4.0.0.22082 version, resolved the problem for many of us with smart-phones. Others, usually with tablets, reported that Skype 3.2.0.6673, better suited their needs. If you have a smart-phone, tap the link of the former Skype, or the latter if you have a tablet. If your first choice does not meet your needs, the other would be worth trying.
Before tapping the downloaded apk file to install the selected Skype, uninstall the current Skype, disable the Play Store “Auto-update apps” option, and enable the Android Settings (from) “Unknown sources” option. Once installed, disable the “Unknown sources” option. Be sure to try any future Skype release, indicated by a change of release date on the Google Play Store Skype “UPDATE” page. If the new Skype is unsatisfactory, revert to the older Skype using the saved apk file.
You can choose an even earlier Skype version if you feel that this would be beneficial. To date. I have not experienced any security problems with any of the above web links. Please be sure to post another reply to let me know how you go with the installation. I should be able to help you if you encounter difficulties.
If you have not already done so, you should create a good Android issue report here to help Skype improve future versions. I am sure that a Private Message to Claudius, letting him know where your report is, would be a nice surprise, and really make his day

  • Skype not working on Android phone

Since installing the latest Skype version onto my Android phone, the application will not load, and always gives the message " The application Skype (process com.skype.raider) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again.  I have reinstalled Skype about 10 times now, and same message over and over.  The previous version of Skype worked great on the Android.
10/6:  We debugged further and found that Skype will not come up on the phone as long as the wired headset is plugged in.  I have to disconnect the headset, and then Skype comes up.  But if you connect the wired headset, then Skype will present that "stopped unexpectedly" message.  So there is an incompatibility between the latest version of Skype with the wired headset?  Why???  It should support it.  The previous version of Skype worked fine on my Android phone WITH the headset.
I hope a fix will be provided immediately.

    hey guys....
the way to get skyp to work is by CLEARING YOUR DATA from the app.
ive got an htc evo 4g...so i goto to settings, applications, manage applications, then i find skype, and then i press the CLEAR DATA button.
after that youll be able to login just fine...
i have no idea why you have to do that to make it work...you just do, lol...
and, youll have to do it relatively often...again, i have no idea why...
newaz, that shold take care of your login issues....gl!

  • Using Skype To Go on Android phone

When making a call using Skype To Go, do we use the phone's dial pad or do we open the Skype app and dial from there?

    1. When I call a Skype contact who has no phone number and who is logged into their computer while I am calling from my Verizon Skype To Go app in the US, I expect Verizon to keep track of my time as if I was calling from the US to a US phone number, no matter where the contact happens to be located, right?
    2. The result will be for me to use US Verizon minutes and my Skype plan will incur no additional cost for the call from the US to Canada.  Right?
    Hello,
    1. I believe so but please check with Verizon.
    2. Yes - correct.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • Possible to change Skype Insant Message icon on Android phone?

Is it possible to change the Skype instant message icon apperance on my android phone (Motorola Droid) so I don't get Skype IM's confused with a text message? When I get an instant message from Skype, I'm not sure if it's a text message or an instant message from Skype since the icon looks the same. I'd like to difference the two. Thank you.

No there is no way to do this and if it was turned up to spin faster then this could result in internal damage to your phone

  • Cannot shut off skype on android phone

How do you shut off skype from android phone.  I can't find any button to shut it off once it's on!

This thing has totally hijacked my phone.  I can not make any calls at all with my regular cell phone service.  Everytime I try it immediately opens skype and tries to dial from there.  I have hit the "sign out' button, that does not work.  I have pulled my battery out and sim card out, that doesn't work.  I have powered it off and on; that does not work.  I can not even call my provider to report the problem as it only goes to skype.  I do have the most current version of Skype; so that is not the issue either. there apparenly is not way to call anyone and get a live person for help????  I have tried everything.  This is a business phone and consequently has shut me down without it????  HELP.This is because you have set (by accident) Skype to be the default application for calls. To change this go in Settings, then Apps. You should be in a tab called "Downloaded." From there, scroll down until you see Skype. Click on Skype, scroll down and touch the "Clear defaults" button. Next time you'll dial make sure to select "Dialer" or something like that (and definitely NOT Skype) before clicking on "Always launch this app". I hope this helps. P.S.: As a follow up from my previous message, I have uninstalled Skype and stopped using it. I switched everything to Google Hangouts and Whatsapp.

  • IPhone 5S not receiving sound or vibrate text alerts from Android phones

I have recently noticed on my iPhone 5s, that when someone with an android phone sends a text message to me, there is no sound alert or vibration, even though both are set to on position.  The problem does not occur for calls or email alerts, only text alerts and it does not happen when another iPhone user texts me.  I am fully updated to iOS 8.1.2, I have restarted my phone.  Any thoughts as to why only the texting alerts are affected and only from Android users?  Thanks!

I think we do in fact have a similar problem.  When my phone is in sleep mode is when it doesn't always produce phone rings and never gives text alerts. I just verified this by having my assistant call and text me from her Verizon Galaxy phone and call me from our office land line.  From sleep mode my iPhone didn't ring with the first phone call from her cell or her first text message, but the text message did arrive.   She said my phone went straight to voicemail on the call and the text showed as delivered.  The land line test call did ring my iPhone.  A second attempt to call my sleeping iPhone from her cell phone did result in my phone ringing.  A second text attempt had the same result as the first, no alert, but the text did arrive.  A third text attempt with my phone not in sleep mode resulted in a text alert with the arrival of the text.  I did the same test, calling and texting my phone, with another iPhone 5s.  My phone rang from sleep mode but didn't give a text alert.
So, it would seem that this is mostly a text alert issue only when the phone is in sleep mode.  I'm going to review all my settings and failing finding something there that solves the problem I may call AT&T (if I am feeling patient).  I'll report back if I find a solution.

  • ConnectME problem: won't ring my home phones

    Just installed a ConnectME.
A 'plain old telephone' hooked directly up to the ConnectME works fine for both inbound and outbound calls.  However, when I hook the ConnectME up to the 'house wiring' (goes to a portable phone; a desk speakerphone; and a bunch of tel jacks that don't have anything connected to them) then outbound calls work, but inbound calls never ring any of the phones.  It seems like there is not enough voltage to ring the phones.   Anyone else experience this?  Any ideas on a remedy?

IMHO, it's not a great idea to be connecting this device to house wiring, there maybe too much of a load, many phones or not to make it work that way.
Most likely the wiring length itself, is causing electrical resistance.

  • How to setup android phone to wake up on incoming ...

Normally my phone is in sleeping mode.
A Skype call doesn't wake it up.
How can I make my Android phone wake up on an incoming call?
    Like RINGING?

Galaxy Tab 4 16 Gb - Will not wake up or come out of Lock on ring.
    No Push feqature available apparently.
I have a new Galaxy Tab 4 16gb with Skype ver5.1.0.57240 recentally updated Dec 18, 2014. However the version previous was the same problem and only version 2 upgrades back would trigger the Android Push feature that brings the tablet out of Lock and answer calls like Viber easily does either by phone or Video.
Apple IPhone Skype Pushes and phone immediately comes out of Lock, Windows version Skype also running the latest version Skype for Desktop immediately wakes up when called.
Did Microsoft not test Android devices and do their homework?
Chatting with support brings absolutly no resolution saying only that the issue will be reported and a bugfix generated. Of course no timeframne given. To my knowledge short of leaving the tablet at the start screen all of time you have battery, there is no way to unlock this version from Sleep or lock to answer a call on Android at least with Galaxy Tab 4. Chat support suggests forwarding Skype to another device. What is the point of having Skype if it will not answer. Batteries do not last forever in screen on position.
A bug fix is need or don't bother installing Skype into Android powered Galaxty Tab 4 Tablets. I assume that all Androids are the same.

  • I just bought an android phone and the previous owner of the number had an iphone and imessage wont work, how do I fix that?

I just bought an android phone and the previous owner of the number had an iphone and imessage wont work, how do I fix that?
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4, and my wife has an iphone. We found out that imessage wont come through from her. After we went to the AT&T helpdesk they said that she could turn off imessage on her phone and that I would get texts on my S4. But then so would everyone else who has an iphone. That  won't work for everyone in my company that has an iphone. So what I am wondering is- since I recently got this phone, should I get a new number? Or should I contact ATT or contact Apple to try and get this number de-activated? I'm thinking I'll never get into the icloud account that this number is attached to, but maybe someone has some advice on that?
I just sincerely want imessage to work on this phone and I'm willing to take the steps to do that.
    Please help

Either one of the two should work - getting new number from carrier or contacting Apple to revoke phone number from imessage system.
That is if your problem is described correctly.

  • Those of you with android phones and network extenders

according to verizion tech support, there is a known issue with ALL android phones (it's an android os issue they say) that causes the phone to not display the signal strength properly when you're on a network extender.
I have had mine for several months, called in several times about issues and was never informed of this until recently.

I have the same problem, in fact I even have a 1mm gap between the rim and the top case, above the DVD slot. The rim is flexible and my right hand pushes it inevitably down when writing. The top case makes a slight noise when resting my hand on it, as it warps down and hits the DVD player. I've shown it to a genius but he said that's "normal" and if at all it is an cosmetic issue only and isn't covered. I told the technician to at least tighten things up when replacing my keyboard to fix my missing letter problem (didn't help the letters btw), which he confirmed, but there was no difference afterwards which indicates that the parts just don't fit properly, even with tightened screws. It annoys me a little but there are still other issues which are more irritating. I love the OS but I'm deeply disappointed by the hardware. Looks sexy but there are serious quality issues which puts my MBP behind many PC brands. Looks and coolness aren't everything.

  • Firefox does not Sync my bookmarks from my PC to my Android Phone (Zombie problem is back again!!!)

    Hi,
I'm using Firefox 18.0.2 on my several PC's and synch works fine between them.
But on my Smasung Note 2 (Android 4.1.2) Firefox could never synched bookmarks from PC. However opened tabs seems to be synchronized from PC to my mobile phone. But none of mbookmay PC rks seems on my Phone. I got no error message after synch operation on my android phone. But no bookmarks synchronized.
All options including Bookmarks selected under what to synch menu. I also tried only to select bookmarks, but helped.
I'm waiting this feature to work during a few months, through different firefox PC and android releases, now as a final hope I'm contacting with you.
My synch usename is [email protected] and I'm using default Firefox server.
I'm sure there is a bug blocking my bookmarks to be synched to my Android Phone , I really want to help Firefox devs to fix these bug.
    Regards....

Having the same problem. Uninstall and reinstall did not help. Is there any progress on this? I'm using the latest android OS, and sync is working just fine on my other devices. The android phone is syncing my tabs but not my bookmarks.

  • Skype 5.5 for Android: Easier to Use = More Time to Chat

Skype 5.5 for Android: Easier to Use = More Time to Chat
Today we’redelighted to announce Skype 5.5 for Android. In this release, we put extra focus on improvements that will make the app even easier to use, so you can spend more time chatting and sharing with people you care about most.
Simplified flow to sign back in
With the improvements we’ve made to battery use and notifications, you can comfortably leave Skype running on your Android devices without signing out. However, for those of you who still want to sign out, we’ve made it easier for you to sign back into the app. Skype now remembers your log-in details so you won’t need to. Just one tap on the arrow, and you’re in and ready to send IMs or make calls. You can also change the setting so thepassword is required every time you sign in. While signed in, just tap on the menu icon “...

Since updating, I've been locked out of both of my group chats, and messages in one on one chats are delayed horribly, both sending and receiving. I'll get an alert that a friend has sent me a message, open it, and nothing will be there. Messages that I send show up as pending for as long as half an hour. With group chats, I'll get alerts, but opening them will just lead me to the "recent chats" screen and the chat in question won't be there. There's nothing wrong with my internet/data connection, and all my other internet based apps work fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype and restarting my phone, but the problem persists.

  • I wanted to ask is adobe flash player available on android phones?

Is there a free version of Adobe flash player on android phone?...please help

    HI ali,
No, Flash Player is not available for mobile devices.  Adobe discontinued support for Android (it was never available on iOS) a few years ago.  An alternative option is to use the puffin browser, Puffin Web Browser - The fastest mobile browser with Flash support over cloud on iPad, iPhone and Android., which runs Flash in the cloud.
