Skype no longer working on my pc
I have been away for several weeks with PC switched off and when I returned Skype was no longer working on my PC. I still had the Skype icon on my desk top but all I get is " Windows can't find C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe."
I have downloaded it again and followed all the installation steps but I still just get the Skype icon and the same message. Skype was working fine before I went away. I have never had problems with downloading Skype before. Any suggestions?

I've used Skype (with Skype credit to contact family and friends whilst on holiday) My netbook was running Microsh*te XP, but now it seems Skype no longer works, version 6.1.18 prompted to update, and would not allow me to continue using it, the new updated version doesn't work with XP, so I tried backdating to an even older version 6.1.14, but alas it's been deactivated, so I'm not replacing my netbook with a new one, nor do I want to spend as much money as my computer is worth to buy Windows 7 and attemp install on my 10" netbook with a minimal 1GB of RAM.
So alas I upgraded... to... Linux Mint Kde (Rebecca) and now...
Voila! Skype works perfectlyAll the old computers I own branded or unbranded have been fully compatible with XP SP3. If for some reason you couldn't get your computer functional in XP SP3, you could always utilize the workaround I posted here to modify XP SP2 just enough to make Skype functional. I have a triple XP OS boot computer (XP 64-bit SP2, XP 32-bit SP2 [with workaround], XP 32-bit SP3) and they all operate just fine with the latest release of Skype (7.1).

Skype is no longer working on my blackberry Q10 when I open skype it just closes and my phone goes back to home screen. I have used skype successfully for an entire year.

Skype will not work with a 64-Bit processor or a system that is made for 64 bits, i.e., Windows 7, Home Premium. Please follow these Steps:
1. Only do Step 1 if you are on WIN7:
Stop Skype.
Be sure that Compatibility Mode is not enabled (right-click on Skype shortcut icon/launcher and select Properties >> Compatibility) - for Windows 7 users only.
Try to launch Skype.
2. If Step 1 fails or you are NOT using WIN7 do:
Open an Internet Explorer browser, and go to https://login.skype.com/account/login-form?intcmp=sign-in&return_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsecure.skype.com%... what happens?
If it fails, Please do the instructions below. Using your Windows Control Panel, please do:
Internet Options -> Advanced Tab Please click the "Reset" button.

These instructions have worked for many and is the quickest thing to try to resolve issues such as this.
Also, what operating system are you on?
What is the Make and Model of your computer?
Do you have all Windows updates and updates to any hardware devices by the manufacturers?

Skype no longer working on Windows XP
Skype updated to Version 7.6. Now it does not launch. Deleted and attempted reinstallation. Completely failed! No icon on the Desktop etc. I assume that support for Windows XP has been withdrawn! veloce59

On Tallinn Skype IT just crashes out To THE Home screen after updating THE iPhone os. any help apprecieer.
According to Skype, you'll need to upgrade your version of Skype.
You should be able to do this by tapping App Store, Updates, Update All. If that doesn't work, take a look at Apple's application troubleshooting assistant.

Hello, I've updated the iPhone I have got I have a problem I hope you respond to some of the applications no longer work, such as the safari and skype and many applications are no longer working with the ios7.0.4
Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
Webcam no longer working in Skype
Hi All
I have a Dell laptop with an integrated webcam and for some reason last Thursday the webcam no longer work in skype. It was working the day before. It still works in yahoo. When I try to make a video call or test it under options - video settings I get a black screen with that moving circle indicating that the video is loading but it never loads. The internet connection is very fast. Has anyone else seen this issue or know how to resolve it?

AlanThere are two main reasons why their are video incompatibilities in the newer releases.
1. The way video support was redesigned in 6.2 and above left some cameras incapable of supporting the new video mode in older style hardware. For this reason the Skype special version (6.1.x) was made available. This also resolves video incompatibility issues between very old releases (i.e. Skype for MAC OSX 2.8 and Skype Special Version for Windows allows video communication to occur between contacts vs. just audio)

2. Bugs/incompatibilities are sometimes introduced in the newer releases like the recently reported issues with Dell XPS model cameras. In that instance, you would have to downgrade to 6.3 or below which does not have that flaw.

So while it may be highly inconvenient, if you are aware of the above you should be able resolve any video-related issue. I for one have been fortunate as none of my laptop webcams including the one on my Dell has failed to work in any Skype for Windows release. -

A major annoying problem as occured since i updated to windows 8.1 my web cam no longer works in skype, it works for everything elese youcam etc just not skpye, audio is working fine too. When i go into settings the programmes freezes and eventually crashes, I can see my webcam listed in skype but thats it, the bottom half of the pane is missing too it cuts out in the middle of clear history, rolled back the driver and it works but messes everything else up. Please help i am ripping my hair out..... thank youodizzle7,

Skype does run on Windows 8.1, although you may need to update Skype to at least version 6.16.0.105

Bluetooth headset no longer work after latest update
I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset for Skype calling and Ventrillo on my Macbook Pro. Since after the latest update, it no longer works. Both input and output doesn't work and the applications hang for about 30 seconds. I've tried re-pairing the device to no avail. Both applications work if I switch them to the built-in microphone.
I also tried doing the same thing with a Plantronics 245 and I get the same issue.
Both headset work with my phone.FIXED!!!!
Steps to UNF*ing your Mac.
1) Install an app called Pacifist
2) Download the individual installer for the Magic Touch Update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1066 DO NOT INSTALL THIS
3) Load your OSX Install DVD
4) Open the MagicTrackpadMultiTouchUpd1.0.dmg in Pacifist
5) Open your OSX Installer DVD in Pacifist
6) Look at the MagicTrackpadMultiTouchUpd1.0.dmg package in Pacifist to see exactly what it installed and where.
7) Find these SAME EXACT FILES on the OSX Installer and reinstall them as root (e.g. using your admin password when asked)
8) Repair permissions (Do NOT skip this)
9) Reboot
10) MOST IMPORTANT: Never install the update again!!
Your bluetooth headset will work in skype after this. You will replace EVERY FILE THE MagicTrackpadMultiTouchUpd1.0.dmg package installed with one from the DVD. If you can not find it, the search bar in Pacifist works wonders.
You will get an error if you try to reinstall admin.framework about not having permission to install. This will be the ONLY file you will not reinstall.
Yes, you have more or less, in a very complicated fashion uninstalled the update (software update shows the Magic Touch update as needed afterwards).

In case you developers want to know, I'll give you my play by play. After the installation of the update, it borked the bluetooth causing Skype to freeze. Reinstalling all the original kexts from the installer disk fixed the skype freezing issue, but there was still no audio. In fact, after reinstalling everything in the System>Library folder still left me with no audio, but it would not freeze or cause kernel panics at this point.
This is where I got the magic. I started replacing stuff in the usr directory. Upon replacing the usr>libexec>cups>backend>bluetooth; usr>libexec>hidd; usr>sbin>blued; and the blue.8 and hidd.8 files, I got audio back and the stars aligned in perfect harmony. I suspect apple needs to retool the kexts and rewrite the root level profiles. -
S230U Twist - Camera no longer works after Win 8.1

I've scoured the forums and tried EVERYTHING but I still cannot find a solution to my problem:
After I upgrade from Win 8 to Win8.1, my camera no longer works. It shows a gray screen with a camera and a diagonal line across it but the green camera light shows up; I also get a shutter sound when take a picture but the image is only of the aforementioned gray camera screen. I can't use the camera for video in skype or any other video chat function.
My Integrated Camera driver version is 3.4.7.26 (SunplusIT) dated 3/15/2013. I tried to upgrade but it seems to be the latest one.
I've also checked that the Lock Screen setting is set to ON for "Swipe down on lock screen to use camera".

I'm really sorry to hear that when you try to use webcam in your Lenovo S230U Twist, you are getting a crossed camera image.
Check if your camera is in normal or private mode. This could be happening because you might have set your camera in private mode.
Go into Lenovo Settings App and select camera.
There will be the options of Private and Normal.
Select Normal.
Also, in Settings > Permissions, make sure that Skype and other similar apps have permission to access the Webcam or Microphone.

W520 webcam no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade
Hello,
I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems.
Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine.
In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works.
The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video.
I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera.
In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly."
But it does not work properly.
Did anyone get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere.

Go to Solution.try getting the communicastion utility installed under 8.1. The crossed image is the cameras security mode.

I've a HTC M8 and have been using Skype on it fine for months. Then my Windows laptop did an update from Skype. Since then my phone no longer works using Skype. It just crashes when a call connects. No one can hear me and no video is sent. Has someone messed up over at Skype??
