Skype not detecting my webcam, please reply..

Hi, I am currently using the built-in HD Webcam 101 on my laptop for Skype. This is my exact laptop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4229965&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
I've been able to use the video call perfectly fine up until this past week. Skype is not able to detect my webcam at all and on my Device Manager, my HD Webcam 101 says that it is working properly.
I've tried disabling and then enabling it. It works! But, the same issue re-occurs whenever I restart my laptop. Obviously, I don't want to keep doing that procedure just to get it working. Is there anyway you guys can help me fix this issue? It is becoming a big problem because I make a lot of business video calls over Skype. Thanks...hope I get a response asap.

Are you starting Skype automatically when you start Windows, or do you start Skype manually after Windows is already running? If you're starting Skype with Windows, try changing to letting Windows start before starting Skype to see if that makes any difference.
When Skype doesn't detect your webcam, if you click on Tools > Options > Video settings, what does it say in the "Select webcam" box? If you click on the pull down arrow next to that box, are there choices that can be selected there?
If there is nothing that can be selected in Video settings, and since you weren't having this problem up until recently, you can try recetting your Skype configuration files with this procedure:
Quit Skype. Hold the Windows key and type r. In the box that comes up type %appdata% <enter>. Scroll down to find the \Skype folder and rename it something like \Skype_old. Restart Skype.
Note: Renaming the Skype folder will move IM and call history to the renamed folder. They can be recovered with a few extra steps.

I have a HP Pavilion DV3000 series laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. After the recent update of my Skype to 6.20 skype is not detecting my in-built webcam. I tried installing the older version as per other threads found in the community but Skype is not allowing to login with it.
Please help me to resolve this as it is very disappointing to see an update has made skype of no use.

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

Skype not detecting working webcams

I've been having this same problem for a couple months now. Skype starts up fine; I can do voice calls and texts fine, but some reason Skype does not recognize my intergrated webcam on my laptop. The webcam works fine, I've tested it on other applications. I also tried attaching an external webcam and Skype does not recognize that either. I currently am running the most recent version of Skype (7.6.0.105). I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling an older version of Skype as well (6.1.0.129 and 6.14.0.104) and neither of them work. when i push video call problem with playbacdevice always pops up i dont have a mic or speakers hooked up does that matter what do i do to fix this when i go to video settings i can see myself in cam but just wont work in chat can someone please help me with this and ty

Skype not detecting camera

Skype is not detecting my camera, even though it is working just fine. I tried using my camera with webcamtoy and it had no trouble at all. I have also used this same camera before with skype, with no problems, a long time ago (about 1 year and a half), but for some reason it is not working now. My laptop is an Asus K53sv, and the camera is the one that comes integrated with it, a 0.3 Mega Pixel Fixed web camera. Can someone help me please? I would like to be able to use video calls without having to buy a new camera...

Unfortunately there is no Skype version available that will work with video on your computer. You have an old CPU without support for the SSE2 instruction set. SSE2 is now an absolute requirement for video being enabled on Skype.

I'm having a similar problem, but I AM using a firewire cable. Panasonic PV-GS85. I've tried two different Macs and two different Firewire cables, and neither iMovie nor the Mac seem to recognize the camcorder anymore. Is there a driver that is missing from a recent Mac update or what? I used the camera with this same computer for over a year with no problems - the problem has only started since a software update occurred.

Hello, its been just a little over a year since I've bought my HP dvt, and of course the problems start as soon as my warranty has ended.. It's been working fairly fine most of the year, and then just all of a sudden while not even doing anything of importance on computer last week I got a blue screen error..
Ever since then I have had so much problems. At first it just started out with closing the screen and reopening it crashed the laptop in a couple minutes..
The main problem now is, it just does not detect the hard drive when booting up! Sometimes (rarely) it does though.. I thought it was a windows problem, so I did fresh clean install of Windows 7 and reformatted the hard drive. Then I ran CHKDSK and it did it stuff and said volume clean at the end.. It worked perfectly for a couple of hours, was able to close screen and open with no problems. I downloaded "Hard drive sentinel" to monitor my hdd health, and it said 90% which is apparently excellent. Yet as I was installing adobe reader, it crashed, got the blue screen of death and has not been able to boot up since
Can anyone tell what is the problem with it? Anyone else have similar problem? I've tried to reformat again with CD but it doesnt even recognize any drive to install on..
Important thing to note is that, in the BIOS screen when i run the HARD DISK TEST, it does recognize it! So i dont understand why it doesn't load the operating system or cant see the hard drive anywhere else!!
What is at fault even? Is the motherboard dead? Althought the bios screen loads fine so does that mean its OK? Is it the hard drive? CHKDSK and the hdd health monitor thing said it was ok right before the crashes..
Please help, I have my first computer science lab in like 2 days with my laptop breaking just a couple days before it with barely any money left to buy a new laptop

Time to replace your Hard Drive. BACK UP NOW!!!
This will be the 3rd HD in a new HP HDX 18 for me (6 months old).
Open up the HD bay and take a look at the model of the HD.
If it is a SEAGATE MOMENTUS 7200.4 they are known to fail in as little as 1 month from install, and do not last more than 6 months.
Google the brand and you will see that most people are reccomending that you remove the SEAGATE product ASAP (data recovery is next to impossible) and replace it with something else.
I had just finished setting up the PC as I wanted it, OS, programs / Bios, software upgrades, then without warning the 2nd HD went.
I lost EVERYTHING in my C drive, was just preparing to do a full BU and Mirror Image after deleting both from my D and External Drive.
HP is replacing one piece of crap with another, I will be shopping for a different brand for the C drive after the laptop comes back from repair.
There seems to be no end to this BS with SEAGATE drives.

My Lumia 625 does not detect MicroSD cards when inserted.
I have tried powering off/on.
I have tried formating them in my PC.
I have updated my phone to 3050.0000.1334.0007
I have tried a Kingston 64GB SDXC Class10
I have tried a Sandisk Ultra 64GB SDXC Class10
I have tried formatting the cards in various ways including exFAT / FAT32 / FAT64 etc.
The only progress i made was when i tried formatting in NTSC and after inserting the card i recieved a message saying "incomattable formatted card inserted, do you whish to format the card in a compattable format?" After choosing yes, the phone formatted the card and then the card was undetected...
This was confirmed by checking the card in my PC, which confirmed that the card had been formatted using exFAT, which i believe is the correct format for the phone/card.
Clearly the phone is somehow detecting and writing to the card and the card is functioning properly, except that the phone does not detect that the card exists as expanded memory and will not allow me to use it.
Any help with this would be really appreciated!

Have you tried to perform a reset? It will delete all your data so backup is required. See this link: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/basics/back-up-my-stuff for the steps on how to backup your files. After creating a backup, go to Settings > About > Reset your phone.

ITunes does not detect my iPod-- please read and help?!

I tried all the help Apple told me to do. I reset my iPod(didn't work) and then I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. That didn't work either. My iTunes still does not detect my iPod. The newly downloaded iTunes was at least supposed to tell me that my iPod was "corrupted" but it didn't. So... I'm not sure that it is. But that is the only reason Apple tells you could cause this. So yeah, I'm pretty lost right now! Does anybody know anything to help(by the way, I own a 5th generation iPod nano)? Thanks

Skype not detecting webcam. Again.

So, I had this problem a while ago and downgrading to an older version of skype fixed it.
Now, however, I was forced to upgrade to the latest version of Skype again because it would no longer connect with the older version, and ust like before it refuses to acknowledge that I have a webcam.
Using windows 7
Latest version of Skype
Updated drivers
USB 2.0 UVC 1M webam (built in)

Ipod Connected but not detected !!please help!!!

Hello! so ive come to my last resort in order to figure this problem out. The basic problem is that itunes does not recognize my 5th generation ipod. Ok here are the details:
-running windows XP professional with all security updates(i.e service pack 3)
-tried the 5 R's
-If another ipod is connected to my computer it works perfectly
-everything is up to date
-Cord is in working conditions
-when my ipod is connected to other computers it works
-I just recently re-installed Windows XP completley(new partition and everything)
-USB hubs work fine due to other ipods working fine on my computer when connected
-I have formatted my ipod, uninstalled everything that has to do with Apple and quicktime, from temporary files to program files etc.. then i re installed everything and nothing works
-Ipod shows up in my computer and i am able to go into it but it will not pop up in itunes.
-when the ipod is plugged in and itunes is up it is frozen for a while until the ipod is unplugged then everything returns to normal.
i think thats all the details i can think of at the momment.
please help!, ive tried almost everything i can think of and read, but maybe i missed something.

Still sounds like a USB problem to me. Have you tried the usb ports on the BACK of the computer?

ok heres what happened, i was flashed my motherboard bios because i was told it would fix a tempereture reading problem(temps where way to high)anyways after i rebooted i noticed i didnt have any sound.As i was reinstalling my drivers i got an error message saying my soundcard wasnt detected.Does anyone know what i can do? I have a SB Audigy 2.thanks

If, "... I was flashed my motherboard bios..." means you updated your bios then you need to check that onboard audio has been disabled in the bios (as enabled is the default). The other thing that your adviser should have warned you about is that playing around with the bios is risky.
If this does not work check that the soundcard is getting power by looking to see if there is a red light in the optical out port. If this is the case the card is possibly toast and you need to buy a new one.
I have experienced this by inserting a microphone in the headset jack and received the same message but in that case the card worked again after a few days of non use.

Skype not projecting with webcam

I changed out my monitor (larger) and now I cannot project thru my webcam which was working perfectly with my other monitor. I can receive both picture and voice, but I just can't project. How can I fix this problem? I tried to reinstall the software, but it says that it is incompatible now. Why? I have Windows XP with a service pack 3.
