Hi, I brought a skype number, I only want to use it for receiving incoming calls.. I do not wish to call anyone on my skype number.. But I've been having to buy credit a few times now because each time someone calls my skype number & i have it so it forwards to my mobile phone it's costing me to much ? Is there a cheaper way I can have my Skype number & receive incoming calls forwarded to my mobile phone? When I answer not on Skype, iPhone mobile phone number I pick the call from?? I subscribed to something I thought was it but I was rong because I still have no credit to receive calls to my mobile phone?
Can someone help me please ?

A: Sure, you can answer calls from your iPhone for no additional charge by using Skype for iPhone! Sign in and your calls will ring there at the same time your computers signed onto Skype would!
Q: When I'm not on Skype, can I pick the call up from my iPhone mobile number?
A: Yes, but that requires Skype Credit or a calling subscription for calling out. Again, picking up from the iPhone app won't cost you more.

I purchased a Skype number, but the mobile app shows it as Inactive. The Online profile shows my Skype number as being paid for. How do I refresh or update the app to reflect the online account status for the phone number?

Credit or a subscription is required for call forwarding or outbound calling. Standard inbound calls consume no credit or subscription. The people calling you still have to pay the standard rate it costs to call the Skype number from their phone (billed by their phone provider) similar to you having to pay for your Internet/Data plan bill to use Skype on your phone.

I'm wondering whether you are referring to transferring your subscription, or forwarding a number ... so here are two different answers:
Skype subscriptions are active for specific terms or lengths of time. If you no longer need the New Jersey number, cancel the subscription and start a new Skype Number for New York. Skype does not permit transfers of anything, be it credit, subscriptions, or call features from one account to another. Splitting a subscription by changing a number is not possible, either.

Yes you can.
You will need (a) an Australian Skype Number and (b) an Unlimited USA/Canada Subscription @$2.99/month or some Skype Credit to fund the cost of the forwarded calls.

Skype for ipod...is it able to receive calls?

Does anyone know for sure that iPod touch can in fact receive calls from Skype app?

Okay, I found this out on Skype's site:
The Skype application must be started and signed in to receive incoming Skype calls and chats. If the application has been closed, incoming Skype calls cannot be received and chats will not be delivered.
So, can I leave my ipod logged in to Skype all the time? Will that drain my battery significantly?

I can't make calls. I try to call and it just stays at the "calling mobile" screen I can't receive calls either yet people can call me?

This has just recently happened to me i've experienced this once before but briefly and it went away, now I'm on vacation (still in Canada) I'm from Vancouver and i am in toronto, and this has now happened since I arrived off the airplan. Hmm... both microphones are free from obstruction? The mic on top next to headphone jack and the the mic on the bottom...
Try restting as a new device and see if that corrects the issue... You must backup your data first.

This will rule out any possible software issue, possibly with the receiver of the phone....especially if the issue continues when you return to a known area where you have no issues. I would normally say try the speaker phone to see if they can hear you but it doesn't sound like you can even get that far. If the issue persists you may have a hardware issue and will likely have to take the phone in for service.

Since I first bought my Skype number a couple years ago I have been receiving calls from people looking for "VIP Cameras". It happened so frequently I Googled the name and number and found listings in several online databases that pool businesses together. I've done everything to contact those "yellow pages"-type companies for removal, and some have been compliant while others not. I tried to find the original owner of the company for VIP Cameras, but the company no longer exists, and as it turns out from customer reviews online, the camera company was a scam and ripped off numerous people. So basically, I own a phone number that is the scapegoat of a fake company that has its contact info plagued throughout the internet in shady name-sharing websites. I dealt with consistent wrong number phone calls in the dead of night while I was serving in the military overseas due to the time difference with the U.S., while I needed the number active for important calls from home.
I really didn't want to change the number because of my contacts who have me listed, but I have put up with this long enough, and I need to work with a representative to change my number. Please don't instruct me to block the numbers, as you might understand from my situation, the numbers are different every single time.

As well as the new download you will need the new serial number. You cannot use your original serial number.
(Don't expect it to work on modern versions of Windows or Mac OS though!)

Skype number not working / long forwarding times

Dear Team,
my skype number is not working although I allowed everyone to call in my privacy settings. This has been happening quite often and now it is already down all day.
I put it on forwarding to my mobile number for now, but although i set the time to forwarding to one 2nd, it takes 20 seconds or so until my phone rings. Is this normal?
Can you please help me fix this. And please don't send me the customer service link with which i should click my way through. I tried many times to "click find" my answer. I hope a discussion with a human being helps.

My hands are tied - you asked not to be provided with instruction how to contact Skype Customer Service - which you would have to click your way through - and which I would normally recommend you do just to double-check nothing is awry with your Skype Number.
Our Community Guidelines do explain that this Community is not a branch of Skype Customer Service; no customer service agents monitor the posts here. We here in the Community are not authorized to access Skype accountholder files or records.
As far as the delay in forwarding, have you tried to set your "number of rings" setting in your client software settings to "0" (zero)? Sometimes that does the trick.

Display Skype Number on Forwarded Calls

First, I have a Skype Number and I pay for a Skype Premium account. My Skype Account stays forwarded most of the time to another phone.
When someone calls my Skype Number and it forwards to phone, I would like my Skype Number to be displayed on my phone as the Caller ID. Is this possible?

technically it would be a violation of Skype terms and conditions for three users to use the same Skype account, but a call to a shared Skype Name will ring, more or less simulataneously, on all Skype clients where this Skype Name is signed in
but it IS possible to forward any unanswered call to as many as three other Skype Names at the same time -- ringing stops when one of those users answers the incoming call, and it does not matter if they are already in a call (essentially Skype has built-in Call Waiting capability)
these users can each have their own calling subscription, and it sounds like Unlimited Europe would be a likely candidate -- whether you administer these accounts under Skype Manager is up to you, and the main consideration will likely be whether you want to fund the subs centrally, or let each user expense the services separately

Selecting a Skype number

Hi I'm a bit new to all this Skyping lark, so please bear with me if my question has been asked before or I appear terminally stupid!
I live in the UK, but will be travelling in North America (USA and Canada) soon. Because my UK mobile phone provider wants to charge me a small fortune for not much in the way of texts/calls/data whilst on holiday, I signed up for Skype as a way to keep costs down. Now, if I want to call/text the UK whilst away, do I select a UK based Skype number or a USA/Canada one? The people who are likely to call/text me are all UK based. Also, we will be travelling whilst in the USA, so I can't pick just one city. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanx

Hi, buy a UK number so that your UK contacts are making a local call at their usual UK rates rather than an International call. You could also forward your UK mobile number to your UK Skype number before leaving the UK if your network allows call forwarding. Using Skype to send a text will cost you 5.6p each.
You might also consider a 3 PAYG SIM because USA is a Feel at Home destination if you have an unlocked phone. Buying a £15 add on bundle would give you 300 mins of UK calls, 3,000 texts & 25GB of data (no tethering though) per month while roaming in the USA. The Skype app would be very effective with this roaming data too.
In Canada you might need to get a local SIM or rely upon WiFi hotspots.

Is there any way to receive SMS on a Skype number?

I just purchased a Skype number today and will be using Skype via the Skype app on my iPhone. I've set up voicemail and have already testing calling out to a regular number from my Skype app/number and having someone call in to my Skype number. It works great but the issue is with SMS texting.
I realize that although I have the $2.99 plan for unlimited US/Canada calling that it does not include SMS text messaging. I realized I need Skype credit for that so just purchased $10 of Skype credit. I see that it costs 11.2 cents to send an SMS text to a US based phone number. Here is the issue. If I read correctly you can only send an SMS text from a Skype number and there's no way you can receive a SMS text at a Skype number. Is this true? Since most of my communication is via SMS this means that Skype would be of very little use to me.
Is there any way you can have Skype forward incoming SMS texts to your regular cell phone number? Although this isn't my preference I realize people will try to send SMS texts to my Skype number. I don't want to forward voice calls to my cell # but if I'm able to forward SMS texts from my Skype number when they come in to my regular cell phone # this would solve that problem.

I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number. Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

My Skype number is not working

I have purchased a Skype number. I am travellling and I am out of the country but I cannot seem to make my Skype number work. It is a New York City number but when someone calls it nothing happens. I paid for it for three months! It shows up in my Skype profile! What am I doing wrong?

Hopefully, you are not signed on to Skype on the mobile device at the same time you are testing your Skype Number. If you are, that could be the problem. Try calling the Skype Number from a fixed line, instead. Otherwise, you will need to please contact Skype customer service directly to sort this as we here in the Community do not have the resources to diagnose and resolve.

Receiving calls via Skype Online Number

I understand that I pay £10 for 3 months to set this up.
I understand that callers pay for a local call (so long as they're close to that local number)
I do NOT understand if I pay to receive each call and if so, how much?

Which type of Skype number should I have??

I would like to know if it is possible to call Danish numbers from a Skype number, on a mobile phone with an Italian sim card inside - without being connected to the internet..?
I've already created a Skype number - and used it via my Italian mobile phone, when I was connected to the internet - but I need to be able to use it also when I'm not connected to the internet.. -And I need to be able to use it to call telephone numbers that I have not already registered beforehand (and as far as I understand the Skype To Go-set up, you need to do that for this solution, right?). Is there another solution for me??

Ooops, my bad, so there are only two different options? And they are both 512MB? I don't really see anything that says 512MB of VRAM or anything for the Radeon. ATI is now owned by AMD. It seems they may just discontinue Mac support. I don't want be stuck with another unsupported card. Last time was with the VooDoo 64MB card that came out for Mac when I had a G3. 3DFX went out of business shortly after.
Quadro 4500 FX and the ATI Radeon X1900 XT? Both are 512MB, is one brand better than the other? Is there anything bigger? I have recently read a lot of reviews of the Radeon cards over heating. I would like to get something better if possible and prepare to not have to upgrade again so soon. Also nVidia has these other Quadros on this page:
