Skype number from Rhode Island?

Hi, I tried setting up a skype number and i was extremely unsuccessful. I didn't even manage to get two steps into it and i only managed to click into My country as U.s. and when i was asked to pick a state... my state wasn't even there! : / what should i do now?

Yes. You can choose a Skype Number from any country which is listed as providing one. Your location is irrelevant.

If you have a subscription in place to cover the cost of the call, then there ought to be no additional charges. If your subscription(s) will not cover call costs, then Skype credit would. However, I am curious as to why you would not contact her as a Skype-to-Skype call, seeing as you both hold Skype accounts, thereby incurring no call charges?
Skype would consider a call to a Skype Number as an out-bound call to a fixed line number.

Get a UK Skype number from Japan

Hello,
Is it possible to get a UK skype number from Japan?
If it is possible, can I use this number to be displayed when I call Japanese customers?
(eg. they see a number something like, +44 xxx xxx)

Ok not got an RTX myself but have looked at them.
I presume you have got the RTX connected to your network via ethernet and also to the Spanish land line connected too. Sign into your Skype account on the RTX, I presume you have some calling credit on your Skype account.
Your RTX will ring on whichever incoming number that has been called, either the Spanish line or your Skype UK number.
Check the calling rates page for costs to call the UK. https://www.skype.com/en/rates/?nu=subs-calling. Open up the rates to United Kingdom, then check the Pay as You Go rates and select "view all PAYG rates". That will open up a tab with all the PAYG rates to the UK including mobiles and special numbers. Note that there is a connection charge too. General charges are 1.8p/min + 3.1p connection fee to landlines and 7.6p/min + 5.6p connection charge to UK mobiles
If you find yourself making a lot of UK calls then a subscription might give better value, but note there are two types of subscriptions, one type is only to UK landlines and the other is to UK landlines and mobiles.

How to switch Skype number from 3-month plan to an...

A friend initially subscribed to 3-months Skype number plan. Now she would like to change to 1-year subscription. However, there does not seem to be any option to do this. The initial 3 months just passed and an automatic charge appeared on her payment card. There does not seem to be any "modify" subscription option (not even a "cancel" subscription option). There is no Skype/Microsoft support readily available. This is very bad experience for her and it seems to be rather common issue. I am actually surprised by this and have expected more from Skype/Microsoft. Any ideas about how to change the subscription?

As strange as this sounds, the short-term Skype Number contract needs to be cancelled. When the subscription ends, the Skype Number is held in reserve for a period of 90 days, during which timeframe the number can be renewed for an annual term.
If all else fails, please contact Skype customer service for further assistance. I would report to Customer Service that the renewal e-mails were not received - after checking that the account's registered e-mail address is correct! You would not believe the number of enquiries I read where a Skype account's registered e-mail address has fallen into disuse, not updated, and therefore resulting in no communications received from Skype.

Charges for calling Skype number from cell phone

Just purchased a skype phone number. Chose a local area code so family can call me while Iam in Italy. Will there be an additional charge on their cell phone when they call me. They have unlimited calls and text on there monthly cell plan. Will I have to pay skype if I answer call to my skype number on my cell phone? If I purchase a premium subscription will I be able to call home from Italy on my cell phone? And how much will that cost per minute- or will the monthly premium price give me unlimited calling and text from my cell?

I've just canceled my subscription and Skype number. However, my Skype number will remain active for another month yet. I never gave my number out to anyone and have no use for it, but I keep getting scam calls on this number. I want to completely remove it from my profile, but cannot find a way to do this. I took a skype number recently with United states area code. But I have relatives in India who tried to call my skype number, but they were unable to make a call. They got a response saying number is invalid.
I want to know whether calls are not connected if people in India or from some country make calls to a skype online number registered in an other country.

The issue of cross store purchasing comes up frequently so I'll just quote one of the most complete explanations (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:
In order to buy from any given country's iTunes Music Store you must be able to show some form of residency which would be either:
a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
.......this is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice. Can I transfer my Skype number from my personal ac...

I would like to add this number to my skype manager so that it can be assigned to other people within my business now as sometimes I want others to answer calls! I would prefer not to have to divert all the time. Is this possible?

I am going on my honeymoon to Virgin Islands. Can my elderly mother in the US call my US Skype Number from her landline to reach me in case of an emergency or do I need to set up a Virgin Island Skype number?

Yes she can. Your US Skype Number travels with you anywhere. Your location is irrelevant as long as your computer or device has a high speed internet connection.

Online Skype number is in use by a local hospital

The Skype number I selected is apparently still in use by a local hospital. Whenever I make outgoing calls to my friends land lines or mobile phones, their caller ID shows the local hospital name and my Skype number. Also, when people call my Skype number, they get the local hospital, not me.
I called my Skype number from my land line and spoke to the hospital and they say that my Skype number has been in use at the hospital for over 20 years.
How can I get my number changed or correct this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies for this mix-up. Please contact Customer Support and let them know your assigned Skype Number is an existing number, so they can cancel your subscription and remove it from the database.

By way of reminder, perform your test calls from a mobile or fixed line phone; if you call your Skype Number from Skype, Skype gets confused and thinks you are calling yourself, and the call will always ring busy.
If you have tried the former, you will need to please contact Skype customer service for further assistance.

When I tried to call my Skype Number is always busy. I called Microsoft Technical Support, and they said there is no issue! I tried to call again my skype number and still it is busy! I don't know when this issue can be resolved?! Please note that the privacy setting is: accept calls from anyone.

Please do contact Skype Customer Service instead, as Skype Customer Service will have the necessary tools to test your number. One point to clarify - if you are calling your Skype Number from Skype, then your Skype Number will ring busy as Skype sees this as calling yourself.

If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
